Outrage of the Day (Update: NYPD Rejects Ahmadinejad Visit to Ground Zero)

Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:25:37 pm PDT

Here’s one of those stories that makes you feel as if you’ve woken up in the Twilight Zone: U.S. May Escort Ahmadinejad to Ground Zero.

In a move that has stunned New York, the Bloomberg administration is in discussions to escort the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to ground zero during his visit to New York next week, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said today.

The Iranian mission to the U.N. made the request to the New York City Police Department and the Secret Service, who will jointly oversee security during the president’s two-day visit. Mr. Ahmadinejad is scheduled to arrive September 24 to speak to the U.N. General Assembly as the Security Council decides whether to increase sanctions against Iran for its uranium enrichment program.

Mr. Kelly said the NYPD and Secret Service were in discussions with the Iranian mission about the logistics for the possible visit, and whether it will take place at all. He said Mr. Ahmadinejad would not be allowed to descend into the pit for safety reasons related to ongoing construction there.

“There has been some interest expressed in his visiting the area,” Mr. Kelly said. “It’s something that we are prepared to handle if in fact it does happen.”

What the hell is wrong with these people?

I’m aghast that they would even consider this for one second. Don’t let this happen, New York. There could be no greater disrespect toward the people who lost their lives in the collapse of the World Trade Center than to let this thuggish Islamofascist defile their memory.

Here is Mayor Bloomberg’s contact page.

Also see: Outrage: Ahmadinejad to visit Ground Zero?

If Bush and Rice let him go down there, especially in the wake of Petraeus and Crocker reporting the threat Iran poses to American soldiers in Iraq, you have no idea how grave the political fallout will be. Consider this an alert from the grassroots early warning system. You ignored the alert we gave you this summer about the amnesty bill. For your sake, don’t ignore this one.

UPDATE at 9/19/07 1:31:12 pm:

An update at WCBS880.com says the NYPD has rejected Ahmadinejad’s request.

UPDATE: NYPD is rejecting the request from the President of Iran to visit Ground Zero.

No way is that going to happen.

But Charles is right.

You don't let Mr. "Death to America" Ahmadinejad near the WTC monument (ie period). You come up with some flimsy excuse:

The United States has denied a visa to Iran's UN ambassador in Geneva, Ali Reza Moaiyeri, to attend next week's ministerial meeting of the UN General Assembly because he was involved in the 1979 US hostage crisis, a UN official said Wednesday.

It was not clear what role Moaiyeri played in the hostage crisis

I can't believe no one in our government has the spine to tell this creature where he can stick his request. It makes me both sad and angry. But then again, maybe I should expect it from our current crop of politicians...

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

with all credit to Kipling for his foresight.

I can think of nearly 3,000 reasons not to let Ahmadinejad near the site, but if he insists, here's what I propose.

Take him in a plane to 1,381 feet in the air. Light him on fire, and give him a choice. Either burn to death or jump to his death.

Then without warning, toss him in a plastic shredder with his remains never to be found.

That way, he gets the full experience of the horror of that day when his fellow Islamists from across the sectarian aisle decided to destroy the WTC and kill thousands of people in an attack against all that the West holds dear and important.

my letter is as follows, and I was being nice.

Your Honor,

The events of the september 11th 2001 have given me great pause to what you are about to do. It is my understanding sir that you are going to allow the leader of the nation of Iran to view the site of the Twin Towers. I would ask you graciously not to do this sir. As an American who loves his country, and as a patriot who grieves for the dead, as a New Yorker who never forgets I ask you not to do this.

If he allows this I hope all New Yorkers will be present and accounted for at the site that day to block him from ever getting to it.

Regarding 'Pig Day' from the last thread...

ISLAM: CALDEROLI, 'PIG DAY' AGAINST NEW MOSQUES

(AGI) - Rome, Sept. 13 - Northern League coordinator, Roberto Calderoli, has said: "We could organise the 'pig day' as to say competitions and shows dedicated to the most beautiful pigs to be hold in the places where somebody thinks to build not a centre for religious activities but the potential centre of recruitment of a terror cells". Calderoli announces protests against the building of a new mosque in Bologna. "The Bologna city council has given to go ahead to the building of a new big mosque, I put myself and my pig at disposal of the committee against the mosque for a walk on the ground where Muslims want to build their mosque" he said today. Calderoli claims the success of a similar initiative in Lodi where the mosque was not built after the ground was declared infected after the walk made by the pig.

Anyone in NYC have a pig that needs a walk around Ground Zero?

If I interepreted that reference correctly, I don't thinking wishing that this particular holocaust-denying, America is Satan, Islamofascist getting buried alive at the WTC monument is disresepectful to the victims of 9-11.

Also, there may be more to this story than meets the eye.

The article said the request was "under discussion". That's not a yes, its diplobabble.

Dinner-Jacket is likely to be trying to push a button with this. He could spin a visit there in many different ways, just as he could spin an outright denial of permission to visit.

So instead of an outright denial (which could provide context for a manufactured diplomatic incident), they're giving him the "soft denial". "Maybe you can go. . .its under discussion".

Maybe when he gets here he won't really want to go after all or won't have time. Maybe an excuse to deny him a visit can be manufactured later.

He added, "Such an event comes from Lebanon's known enemies' plots, and upon the past background of such suspicious moves in the sensitive times of Lebanon, it comes from ominous plots of the Zionist regime, which has always been threatening Lebanese sovereignty, independence, security and people's solidarity."

This will never come to pass. There will be no real outrage, because he will not be allowed to visit there.

I tell ya, I just don't get it. With video conferencing technology, there is NO excuse to let this terrorist filth into our country regardless if it's a meeting with the UN.

This is a big middle finger to us. I think I may need to take up boxing those bags in order to let off steam.

The only reason we better let him come in is if we arrest him. I can only guess there is a reason he is let in that we aren't privvy too..but it is hard to keep an open mind when this happens and we are at war.

I keep waiting for NY dems to act like they were a country that was attacked by terrorism. I bet Guiliani would not have allowed this. Our poor forefathers.

The PR possibilities and the worldwide coverage it will generate is the ultimate validation for the nutjob that wants/claims to lead the Arab world. This will only prove, once again, how spineless and toothless the U.S. and it's State Dept. really are. On the other hand, if we say yes, we'll be the laughing stock of the ME. I just sent Bloomberg a message of disgust. This guy is a real fool and
the WORST kind of bleeding heart liberal.

Here is a snippet of possible conversation between Bloomberg and Achmenidinnejad at ground zero:

Dinner Jacket: You know Michael, you are one of the good Jews. When Islam takes over America, Allah willing, I think I will let you live. We can use you for something, I'm sure.

Bloomberg: Thank you sir!

298 deanyc  Wed, Sep 19, 2007 1:24:51pm

Ahem. Allow me to weigh in as a New Yorker who has lived through the Dinkins, Guiliani and Bloomberg years. Essentially, Bloomberg has done little to nothing in his time as mayor of NYC, unless you count the fact that he's essentially maintained the infrastructure and policies of Rudy Guiliani. However, Bloomberg's political identity is a lie - he ran as a Republican, but he's nothing but one more big city liberal, with a whiny, tinny high-pithed squeaking voice to boot. What's more, anyone who lives in New York already can see the signs and symptoms of a backslide from the hard-won changes Guiliani brought to the city, with a noticeable rise in panhandling and derelicts roaming the subways and streets in ever-greater numbers.

I hope this Ahmadinejad story has longlasting negative political implications for Bloomberg.

I just wrote the Mayor of NYC and Governor of NY State, stating in professional, respectful and absolutely definitive terms my disgust at even considering the possibility of allowing this to happen. On to the State Department now...

If it happens, there aren't enough SS agents in the US Government to cover the guy from what New Yorkers will do to him. I wonder what the sound of 5,000+ rifles firing at once from every conceivable angle is like? Or, maybe they could pull a reenactment of the Fallujah burning of the Blackwater contractors... NYC citizens could show our graciousness and allow Dinnerjacket to play main character Scott Helvenston.

This is the kind of thing that makes the US a joke overseas - Bush goes to other countries, they protest, burn him in effigy, and practically run him out of town on a rail, when all he's done is approve billions of dollars to be sent to their countries. We, on the other hand, roll out the red carpet to a leader that has said he wants us wiped off the map - and give him a personal escort to a sacred place, where thousands of our people died in the name of a cause he supports and praises. Let's make sure he gets lots of security at the taxpayers expense - I'm sure it'll be a big hit on Iranian TV, where they can laugh their asses off at the stupid Americans.

I said it before, I'll say it again - we are funding, encouraging and expediting our own demise. Can you imagine the secret service walking the Japanese emperor to tour Pearl Harbor? It's the SAME THING.

Dear Mayor Bloomberg,
As a California native up until this point in time you have had virtually no influence on my life as an American. However that is all about to change in light of the insane suggestion by some that Iranian "President" Mahmoud Ahmadinejad be allowed a tour of ground zero. Should such a thing be allowed to happen it would not only allow anti-American propaganda to continue to fuel the Islamic Jihad against the west and our democracy, it would in effect be handing them the very propaganda they will use to do so. Please do everything you can to stop this insanity Mayor Bloomberg. Thank you very much.

Consider this: If they escort Ahmadinejad to the site, they will have to forbid American visitors and mourners from paying their respects to make it "secure" for the iranian president! Can you imagine that?! THAT would be unforgivable.

Point 2: If they allow him to visit the site, they will probably suspend our right to free speech and disallow protesters (those who are not on the side of terrorists) from expressing their outrage. After all, we have to be sensitive to the views of others ... INCREDIBLE!

re: #321 buzzsawmonkey

This serves as an object lesson in the difference in motivations between Ahmedinejad's asking to see Ground Zero, and the morons who considered granting his request.

Ahmedinejad surely wanted to feast his eyes on the destruction that Islam has wrought.

Those considering granting his request surely thought that doing so would be a way of promoting "understanding." They no doubt believe that by viewing the devastation, Ahmedinejad would be moved to realize that we are "all people," that destruction is evil, and that we can all get along.

The touchy-feely crowd will never allow themselves to understand that there are those who do wish to feast their eyes upon devastation and dream of extending it.

Iran: President Says Light Surrounded Him During UN Speech

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad says that when he delivered his speech at the UN General Assembly in September, he felt there was a light around him and that the attention of the world leaders in the audience was unblinkingly focused upon him. The claim has caused a stir in Iran, as a transcript and video recording of Ahmadinejad's comments have been published on an Iranian website, baztab.com. There are also reports that a CD showing Ahmadinejad making the comments also has been widely distributed in Iran. Is the Iranian president claiming to be divinely inspired?

If this was coming in any way from the White House administration, then it reinforces my belief that President Bush has been to friendly during his term. If this is coming from Bloomberg, then all I can say is, Stooge and fool. Let's remember that Bloomberg is a liberal with some business sense. It would not, in the least, surprise me if he thinks he's doing the best thing towards peace and comity by having thought about taking Hitler, Jr., down to Ground Zero. I won't fault the man's intentions, but I will fault his lack of common sense. I am glad to see that the NYPD have put their foot down.

And as much as I would like to strap Hitler, Jr., to a MOAB and drop his happy ass out of the cargo plane, I don't think confronting him with rotten eggs and tomatoes would do our image much good and would only play into the denegration that his ilk have for Americans. Instead, if he were to still go to Ground Zero, I would suggest thousands of Americans appearing there in silence and simply staring the little monster down.

INCREDIBLE!

This isn't about making a fight or argument, this is letting them know that there are SOME of us that stand by them and that we DID watch things in real time and have VERY deep feelings about that day. Sorry, NYers can't corner the feelings on 9/11 unless they want to put a division in and fight it on their own.

I'm sorry, I usually read every single lizard comment, but this entry made me shoot straight to the bottom here. I feel as if I am living in The Twilight Zone. We are escorting a thuggish, murderous Islamist to the grave site of thousands of American citizens, so that he can gloat? I never heard of such insanity, stupidity, lack of wisdom, and whatever else we can call it -- such an act has many names.

And please forgive me for going off topic, but today I read that Hillary Clinton, in a speech, vehemently chastised white people for continuing to be racist and intolerant of black people. That comment was directly motivated by the Jena 6 story, in which 6 black boys beat one white boy TO DEATH, ostensibly because they were all riled up that someone (no one knows who) had hung nooses from a tree on the school lawn. A white boy is murdered, but we all need to stop being so intolerant and racist toward the MURDERERS, BECAUSE they are black? Naturally Jesse and Al are on the case. Jesse has accused Obama of "acting white" because he has thus far failed to defend the black boys' right to commit murder.

Like I said, I'm in THE TWILIGHT ZONE. And it just keeps on getting darker.

I don't remember saying that. If I did, I'd like to see the post. If I DID say it..it was due to emotion that I was pissed at those who are apathetic to 9/11..again, let me see the post and context.

If that word pissed you off, I wonder if you read my other posts that were angered at those who don't take 9/11 serious. Next time, you may want to bring that up in the thread and ask me about it insteda of letting it fester and post days later.

re: #266 tfc3rid

re: #249 Highrise

Well, regardless, there is a BIG difference between being angry about 9/11 and being outside of NY, than to feel 9/11 and to have watched it happen with your very eyes live and in person... The fear and the uncertainty...

You know- I had a New Yorker try to justify 9/11 feelings to me in a similar way. Well- I have to say- do you know what it was like being anywhere else in the country that day? The terror we felt? Have you ever heard your city go silent? I did- and it scared the sh*t out of me. America was with New Yorkers on that day- you were in the heart of the terror. But do not diminish the terror the rest of the country felt- we all felt fear and uncertainty- regardless of our location. It wasn't just an attack on New York- it was an attack on America, and as an American I will feel as p*ssed as I want to feel. But from what I understand- there are many New Yorkers today who act as though 9/11 never happened. Why don't you get pissed at them instead of people who stand by you in this war?

459 tfc3rid  Wed, Sep 19, 2007 2:06:23pm

re: #450 Highrise

While I completely believe and understand the feelings you have about 9/11 and how horrific that day was, there is some popint regarding being here for it...

I had to walk my ass home for 6 hours from work, not knowing if the bridge I was crossing was going to be blown up too... I had to endure the stench of death for weeks following the attack when I went across the street from work to go grab lunch...

I'm just saying that while we ALL should feel very strongly about 9/11 and it's impact on us as a collective, some of the individuals who were even more direcly impacted sometimes feel (or believe they feel) stronger.

PS, Kiwi - I totally agree with your sentiment that the attack wasn't just against America, but against our way of life, which is the way of life of all freedom loving, peaceful people. It was our soil that was attacked, but people from 87 different nations perished, and the attacks on London, Bali, Madrid, etc, prove that these animals will lash out against anything they hate - which seems to be everything - and it just so happened that the WTCs were the easiest targets that day. I wish more people would get that and stop giving them a pass.

If this SOLDIER OF SATAN, known as Ahmadinejad, goes to Ground Zero, he will defile not only America, but very victum that died on September 11th, 2001.

Christains should go to Ground Zero and issue to Ahmadinejad and invitation to covert to Christianity.

Bloomberg whenl Ahmadinejad asks you if you are the son of a Pig or an Ape what will your answer be? The Pig or the Ape?. Do not let this Satanic moron anywhere near ground zero. Ground Zero is hallowed ground; sacred ground. Do not let the muslim PIG Ahmadinejad defile Ground Zero.

My message to you Ahmadinejad: Convert to Christainity or you will be going to hell to enjoy your 72 pigs and apes.

An attack on NYC?
The people in DC might beg to differ.
There was a real fear at the time Flight 93 was heading for Limerick or 3 Mile Island nuke plants.
This was an attack on the United States.
The real problem is why so many New Yorkers don't seem to be bothered by the attacks and keep electing pacifists.

But he has his own credit accounts to settle, so maybe Jimmah Cartah can meet him there, they can kiss and embrace, and we can drop fifty tons of wet cement on them both.

Because for too many New Yorkers, ideology trumps common sense. In this case liberal ideology which thinks that all cultures are equal and that America is what is wrong with the world. Another 9/11 would not change that mindset. Why do so many non self hating Jews still reflexively vote Democratic? The same reasons - ideology.

And I had to endure the horror of wondering what was going through their minds. And to see those towers come down....I was in shock for over a week. That was gut wrenching.

Are you seriously wanting to mix words with another American that would DIE for what happened in NY on 9/11? MANY families had their daughters and sons sign up due to 9/11 that were not NYers but were willing to sacrifice their life to go take care of these punks who inflicted such a massacre. That is pretty deep feelings I think. I would have signed up if they would have taken me and I didn't have a kid already.

So since we both agree that we both are granted our feelings, I hope it is understood from my side as a NON NYer how denigrating to our feelings it is to those of us who watched it happen on the tv and had tears stream down our eyes..and who defend every single day the moonbats (and there are MANY of them in California) in difference about terrorism and 9/11....to be told by NYers, *you just don't understand* or *you couldn't possibly feel as deep as we do*.

Are you kidding me?
Anybody that thinks he should go be allowed to go doesn't seem to realize that he really means what he says. When he says "Death to America" and "Israel should be wiped off the map" he isn't joking. He really, truly means and believes what he says. This man participated in a terrorist attack on our embassy in 1979. The only thing we should let him see is the inside of a jail cell while he awaits a trial for his crimes nearly 30 years ago. That whirring sound you hear is the sound of all the marines he helped kill spinning in their graves.

I don't think that is what tfc3rid is trying to convey.

I know during that day and the weeks following in central Pennsylvania I saw and heard really bad behavior by Americans and foreign visitors/green card holders. I saw people guffaw that they knew eventually the Arabs would get it; that they wouldn't go near those buildings because they knew. I saw a group of Chinese math professors smiling and approving one of their colleagues stating "Well at least it shows America can get hit!" The one wife was sobered when I showed her the list of Chinese names among the dead. But to this day she still likes that America is under duress because she wants China to take Taiwanor rather Taiwan's wealth. I saw what I took to be engineering profs and grad students discussing their technical take on what and how it happened with total delight in their own brilliance without a single emotion for the people who died.

The behaviors I saw during those days and weeks has troubled me ever since.

More info on how the left wing media play nice with the Jihad

IE: Blackwater:

“Initial press accounts were inaccurate,” said Blackwater USA spokeswoman Anne Tyrell. “The ‘civilians’ reportedly fired upon by Blackwater professionals were in fact armed enemies and Blackwater personnel returned defensive fire. Blackwater regrets any loss of life but this convoy was violently attacked by armed insurgents, not civilians, and our people did their job to defend human life.”

“Blackwater professionals heroically defended American lives in a war zone on Sunday and Blackwater will cooperate with any inquiry into this matter.”

It well known in Iraq that dead insurgents become “civilians” as soon as their comrades carry away their AK-47s and spare magazines. Captured al Qaeda manuals detail how militants should use deaths as a propaganda tool.

That propaganda tool is The New York Times, AP, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, etc.

Am I the only one that woke up one morning and felt they'd suffered an overdose of sanity abuse? The crazy idea Bloomy would give guided tours to known/admitted terrorists, Condi vowing not to abandon known terrorists, and Bush's constant reference to known terrorists as members of the ROP.....yep, there's something wrong with me, not them.

There was a real fear at the time Flight 93 was heading for Limerick or 3 Mile Island nuke plants.
This was an attack on the United States.
The real problem is why so many New Yorkers don't seem to be bothered by the attacks and keep electing pacifists.

Limerick is all of 90 seconds from me in a plane flying 400 plus miles per hour. Yet most of my neighbors and residents in this area buy into the Rosie O' view that GWB is the real terrorist in the world. We all would have died a slow, agonizing death of radiation sickness within a few days if a plane had broken through the containment building, gotten to the core, and the wind was blowing in the wrong direction. I'll never forget. Any Mayor of NYC should never forget. The response to DinnerJacket should have been immediate and forceful. Bloomberg blew it and should withdrawal from the race. As if he had a chance to be anything other than a spoiler.

Im a born and raised NYer and I agree with everyone here...tho no one seems to be mentioning D.C. here. I know NYC got it a load worse than D.C. but I was in my second week of my freshman year at GW when 9/11 happened, my dorm was 3 blocks from the White House....D.C. was in a state of total chaos...besides for the thick black smoke over the city from the Pentagon. It was bad everywhere.

The behaviors I saw during those days and weeks has troubled me ever since.

Around 4 pm on the afternoon of 9/11, I finally realized I hadn't eaten all day, and stopped into a diner with some friends. Most of the people in the diner were laughing and chatting like it was a holiday. This was... surprise, suprise... in the ultra-liberal Adams Morgan neighborhood of DC. Ahmadinejad should be arrested as soon as he steps out of his plane onto our soil for taking part in the hostage crisis of '79.

Just explain to Ahmadinejad that Iran is going to be turned to melted glass if he even gestures about the destroying my country. Limit his traveling credentials to the minimum time and space needed to get to the UN.

This is the lowest thing an American could possibly do or propose at this time. Once again, we are reminded that the left is not only impossibly stupid, it is DEADLY stupid.

FWIW, here's what I wrote to the Mayor. I'd have gone on, but it's limited to 300 words and I'm working.

Mr. Mayor,Many patriotic Americans, including me are deeply concerned about a vile, reactionary leader like Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visiting our country as he did last year. Once again, he is returning to New York to address the UN, and further his agenda that includes a number of things: supporting and financing terrorists who KILL and MAIM our soldiers in Iraq, repeatedly threatening to destroy Israel and non compliance with the UN's nuclear watchdog. For you to allow him to visit the WTC site would be a disgrace of the highest order and should NOT be allowed to happen.

New York, don't let this guy's plane even land.

From the "if Bloomberg had any balls" department:
__________________________________________________ ____
From the Theodore Roosevelt Association web site:

"Roosevelt generally judged men and women by their character, or on more than one occasion by their politics, but not on their race or religion. As police commissioner, he opened the department to Jews. One Jewish officer, Otto Raphael, said the traditional prayer for the dead over Roosevelt's body the night before he was buried.

One of the favorite stories of TR and Jews comes from his time as a Police Commisioner of New York City. A German anti-semitic preacher planned to give speeches in New York "denouncing" Jews. The preacher expected protection from the police department and that is where Roosevelt came in.

Many Jews were alarmed and/or outraged and asked Roosevelt to prevent the speeches. "Of course I told them I could not - that the right of free speech must be maintained unless he incited them to riot." But, "On thinking it over, however it occurred to me that there was one way in which I could undo most of the mischief he was trying to do."

Cleverly, TR put a Jewish Police Sergeant in charge of the preachers protection, along with forty Jewish Policemen and the fanatical preacher looked absolutely ridiculous.""

The names of the highjackers would be set into the ground at the plaza entrance, to be walked upon by those entering the site.

By law, photos of the highjackers should be placed in all urinals in New York City. Then American men can trace a yellow image of Mohammed with their flow.

558 David IV of Georgia  Wed, Sep 19, 2007 2:53:53pm

I don't think we should get rid of the UN—just move it to a place where it will know how much we appreciate it. I think the Plover Islands off the North coast of Alaska would be a great place for it. There's an airport nearby, and sometimes you can drive across the sea to it. We could also insist they meet from November through February. American taxpayers love supporting anti-American bloated bureaucracy.

Same here. I remember right after 9-11 going to Temple and the there was this informal gathering after services. People were saying "oh, we should try to understand where the terrorists are coming from and try to change what upsets them".

I was furious to say the least. I said, "Where did they come from...easy from the Middle East, to here, to kill us".

Not too long after they had a "interfaith" meeting and sufficed to say I was biting my tongue the whole time. Of course the usual pablum was spilled....Islam is a religion of peace, not all Muslims think like this , blah, blah, blah.

I haven't been back to that schul since.

In my southern Cali valley, on 9/11/07, our local Islamic Center had a "Day of Remberance" for the victims of 9/11. Invited everyone "of all faiths" to come and 'heal and forgive and grieve' and all that stuff - I felt like the local chapter of Neo Nazis was holding a Holocaust Remembrance Day, it was mind boggling. And of course, the local mayors from the 2 cities that make up our Valley were in attendance, shaking hands and smiling and praising the love among neighbors - I'm still retching.

re: #593 buzzsawmonkey

People, people--I'm trying to not be coarse here. Hence the suggestion that the hijackers' names merely be walked on, rather than voided upon.

Besides, the object of the memorial I described in #537 above was to encourage remembrance of the actual event, something which "memorial" planners and designers seem less and less concerned with. Hence the use of an eternal flame (standard memorial equipment) to picture the Towers following the second impact. And also, hence the inclusion of the hijackers' names at the entrance to the site, where they can be walked on and viewed in the context of the event, rather than inscribing them off-site on porcelain, however useful.

Of course, a memorial which actually depicts the event, so people will not forget, has no chance whatever of being built. Though it probably stands a better chance than my first idea, which was to rebuild the Towers with sculptures at their base, so they look as though they are standing upon the bowed backs of Muslims.

I think it would be quite easy to make a tasteful bronze-gold statue of the twin towers with a plane attached through both. It would be artistic, not too big or osetentatious, bold a symbol that would put an arrow through your heart everytime you looked at it.

re: #593 buzzsawmonkey

And don't those people have some kind of irrational thing against shoes, too? I remember everyone throwing shoes at the statue of Saddam after it came down, apparently that's like the worst insult ever in Islam (such a logical people). If that's the case, placing those names where they'd be stepped on would be PERFECT - and of course will never happen, because it would be 'insulting' to the raving lunatic murderers who attacked us and slaughtered 3000 of our citizens - God knows we would NEVER want to insult them, that would just be plain mean.

All sarcasm aside, can you imagine what would happen if such a thing were really suggested? Everyone from Bush to Condi to CAIR would be appalled - appalled, I say! - at the very thought. Insulting our enemies, it just isn't done. Which is why we're in such piss poor shape today.

"Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring bin Laden's son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero - hallowed ground for all Americans - is outrageous."

Romney was the first one I heard of who came out against Ahmadinejad's visit to GZ.

"Ahmadinejad's shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no,'' Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, said today. "It's inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero.''

"This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation,'' Romney said of a Ground Zero visit by Ahmadinejad. "Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him."

BTW, for all who asked re David Berkowitz? He was born to a Jewish mother and her Jewish lover, and adopted by Jewish parents. He is a jail house convert to Christianity.

Huckabee has no chance of ever becoming President. NObody with the last name Huckabee (and from Arkansas as well) will be elected President. It sounds too much like Huckleberry.

Wrong. Berkowitz's mother was Italian with the last name Falco, his adopted parents were named Berkowits -not that any of it matters.

Berkowitz sought out his biological mother, and she became something of a friend to him. All four of his parents (biological and adoptive) were Jewish, but he dramatically renounced Judaism. In 1976 Berkowitz was 23, attending a Baptist church, and working as a postal clerk.

Damn: Officials: Little We Can Do To Stop Ahmadinejad WTC Visit

NEW YORK -- Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has requested to visit Ground Zero Monday at 10 a.m. officials tell WNBC.com. His visit to the United Nations begins next week. New York officials said the Iranian President will not be allowed to go down to "the pit." But security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, admitted that at this point, if Ahmadinejad attends the U.N. General Assembly in New York as planned, there may be little U.S. officials can do to prevent him from visiting the area of the 9/11 attacks.

Officials Reject Iranian President's Bid To Visit Ground Zero

The move has outraged officials across New York. Senator Hillary Clinton (D) New York voiced concern over the possible Ground Zero visit by Iran's President. "It is unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country's support of terrorism, to visit the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation's history," Clinton said.

"It will be shameful and despicable. It will be a desecration to sacred ground", Rep. Peter King (R) Long Island said of the possible visit. "I would hope there is a way to keep him from going there," King said. He added that he plans to contact the State Department about finding away to stop such a visit.

Ahmadinejad had asked this month for permission to visit the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, NYPD police spokesman Paul Browne said.

The request to enter the fenced-in site was rejected because of ongoing construction there, Browne said.

"Requests for the Iranian president to visit the immediate area would also be opposed by the NYPD on security grounds," Browne said. Law enforcement officials said talks with the Iranian Mission were ongoing.

A spokesman for the Secret Service said the agency does not comment on security arrangements for protectees.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, told reporters Wednesday that the United States would not support Iran's attempt to use the site for a "photo op."

"Iran can demonstrate its seriousness about concern with regard to terrorism by taking concrete actions," such as dropping support for Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and suspending their uranium enrichment program, Khalilzad said.

Browne said Ahmadinejad had asked permission from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, U.S. Secret Service and police department. The police and the Secret Service provide security to visiting heads of state.

The Port Authority, which owns the trade center site and is the only agency that could grant him permission to go inside, said it never received such a request, contradicting the police statement.

"We have not been asked to accommodate the president of Iran," Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman said.

It wasn't clear whether Ahmadinejad wanted to descend to the base of the trade center site, where the twin towers once stood, or lay a wreath on a public sidewalk outside the site.

Telephone calls to the Iranian Mission to the United Nations were not immediately returned.

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said a visit to ground zero "is a matter for the city of New York, but it seems more than odd that the president of a country that is a state sponsor of terror would visit ground zero."

Iran and the U.S. have not had diplomatic relations since Washington cut its ties with Tehran after Iranian students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979. The Bush administration has accused Iran of arming Shiite Muslim militants in Iraq and seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

In a television appearance earlier this week, Ahmadinejad said his country wanted peace and friendship with the United States, as tensions continued to mount between the two countries.

A friend of my family's was murdered more than 20 years ago. She was 17 years old. I was filled with grief and a horror that is indescribable. And I can guarantee that, as much as I suffered as a friend, it didn't come close to what her family suffered.

This gave me a bit of insight into the feelings of the families and friends of those who were murdered on 9/11. As terrible as I felt for them, as frightened as I was here in Canada that our world might be under siege, my emotional and empathetic response really cannot compare with that of those who witnessed the events first-hand and who lost friends and loved ones.

9/11 was also different from the murder of my friend in that it was a cataclysmic mass murder and therefore even more traumatic, first for those directly involved, and then for the rest of us.

I mean no disrespect to anyone here or their feelings. This is my opinion based on my experience.

OK, I heard this on local news on TV, but it is not on their website...but here it is: President Bush said that the matter is in NYC's hands..and it seems he will not be coming to Ground Zero..stay tuned.

[...]New York City, moving swiftly in the face of outrage from the White House to the political hustings to the Jewish community, is rejecting a request by President Ahmadinejad to lay a wreath at Ground Zero when the Iranian is in New York next week for a meeting of the United Nations.

After a spokesman for the National Security Council in the White House said that a decision on Mr. Ahmadinejad's visit was up to New York City, the police department put out a statement saying that the idea for a visit had been quickly dismissed earlier this month in a mid-level meeting among aides of the police department, the secret service, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

"This is a matter for the City of New York resolve," a spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House, Gordon, Johndroe, said. He added pointedly: "It seems odd that the president of a country that is a state sponsor of terror would visit ground zero." Minutes later administration officials were saying privately that a visit by Mr. Ahmadinejad anywhere near ground zero was "not going to happen."[...]

In a television appearance earlier this week, Ahmadinejad said his country wanted peace and friendship with the United States, as tensions continued to mount between the two countries.

Well, we (lizards) know this is a bunch of crap. Let the little shit go down there but make sure someone whispers in his ear that there are some military snipers unaccounted for so we can't be responsible if something happens.

The Iranian president wants to be able to say that he walked on the graves of the infidels that were annihilated by the martyrs for Allah. SOB!

My herd of pigs stand at the ready in Seattle.....

This is like letting Hitler go to a Synagogue on Yom Kippur.

Not only should Mr. Dinner Jacket be barred from entry in the U.S. but in the wake of the Louise Arbour's statement and Mr. Doodoo's report, I think its time that the UN go the way of its older Wilsonian cousin. It clearly has been transformed from the ideals of Eleanor Roosevelt to a mockery manipulated and run by the most evil regimes since the Nazis.

He wants to commemorate those brave cowards who rammed hijacked jets into building full of innocent people, nothing more, nothing less. He want to honor his ten hero's, not the 3000 victims.

ALLOW him to come! BY ALL MEANS DO! Then arrest his sorry ass for KIDNAPPING. If memory serves me, he was a participant in the 444 days of Jimmiah Carturds glory. Stack some charges and give him life in Prison at Leavenworth. He should not have immunity for his crimes.

Dinner jacket wanted to lay the wreath down to commemorate those 19 muslim devils!

Don't let the dirtbag in this country. Instead, the UN can move to Tehran where it belongs.

Darlin', hit the button way too soon. It was a great compliment to your investigative skills. Need to cut these, 'um, long nails.

Seriously, we can only hope ackmednutjob is prevented from visiting ground zero. Appears we are committed to protecting his visit to the U.N.. Should he decide to visit any other area of the city, I see no reason Secret Service is obligated to protect his sorry behind. When did we encourage terrorists to visit the crime scenes and brag about it?

674 Straitcircle  Wed, Sep 19, 2007 8:36:18pm

I wish we would not allow that extreme hater into the USA. He has called for the destruction of the USA before, hasn’t he? If so, lets arrest him and thumb our noses at the dissenters. I doubt everyone in Iran actually likes the creep.

LFG is the site that fact checks your tush, and we had better have a source to back up our claims...if Joel chose to ignore the info? It is now his to refute.

And re Ahmadinadinnerjacket? If this holds true? President Bush handled it correctly.

Pray G-d he will not be at Ground Zero, which is hallowed ground. He would desecrate the place where so many heroes died...and if he could? He would do it to us...and celebrate. I just hope we get him first.

I'm not sure if you were referring to the exchange earlier between myself and tcf3rid in this thread. If not, ignore this clarification post. Since my words seemed to get muddied with the amount of posts, at no time were my comments were directed towards anyone who had a loss of life of a dear one on 9/11. I definitely see that differently.

678 Ledger1  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 2:07:16am

This request happened on the start of Ramadan. What garbage!

This has got to have been posted before but since it’s so funny here it is again:

[Scott Ott]

(2007-09-19) — President George Bush today said he would consider “alternative means” to accommodate a request by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ... “You know the old expression,” Mr. Bush said. “If Mahmoud can’t come to Ground Zero, we may have to bring Ground Zero to Mahmoud.”

9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America

Just shove your wreath, Ahmadinejad

Just shove the wreath you want to place at Ground Zero, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Those are my words and so are these: if you try to set one foot on where the terrorists your regime supported murdered a member of my family and 3,000 others, I will be there standing in your way.

“Just shove your wreath” is also a part of a headline in this morning New York Post:

I understand. I was not addressing you or other people, but my post might have been an offshoot, in that reading various messages about 9/11 prompted my memories of my experience when my friend was murdered (and also when a family member committed suicide), so I was talking about that. The sudden, violent death of a loved one is incredibly horrible.

9/11 affected so many of us in such profound ways. I really did feel sick to my stomach at the thought of that little creep from Iran going to Ground Zero.

Guiliani asked Araft to leave the hall and turned down check sent by Saudi Sheik. And Bloomberg will escort Ahmeden-jihad to ground zero? It's really crazy - and stupid.

re: #649 NY Nana

Hey I like Huckabee I am just being realistic. I think the country is tired of Southern governors and someone with the name Huckabee unfortunately will automatically lack the gravitas necessary. I like Duncan Hunter too but I want to win in 2008. As for Son of Sam, my apologies. I recall reading that his mothers last name was Italian (and as I wrote on this thread it does not really matter). 'Berkowits' was a misspelling. I am a lousy typist.

The question is do you want to win in 2008 or stay ideologically pure? Tonight Gingrich said on H & C that he expects 2008 a Democrat will win. Besides that sort of defeatism, we need someone who is electaable and can carry some of the Democratic states - R.G. puts NY, NJ, Ct, and Pa. into play. Huckabee does not.

684 mpax  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 6:28:35am

The latest is that he plans on going away. Anyone in the NYC area (including me) keep Monday AM open to form a human shield around the site.

685 Areopagitica  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 6:28:58am

Looks like Dinner Jacket may try and visit the WTC site anyway. Why does he get a secret service detail anyway? Can the secret service guys just refuse?

If this goes down on Monday, I hope there is one hell of a protest rally that confronts him and all the repugnant ideology he clings to.

Actually, my thought is to let him come and visit the site.
I would also have some of our brave Marine Corp snipers posted on building tops all around the site. This way, we don't waste any money on a war crimes trial.

re: #683 Joel

Want to see who wins 'LGF's lousiest typer' contest?

We all make mistakes, and yesterday was a day that had most of us furious.

Yes, Berkowitz's birth mother was a Jew, married out, and never divorced, who has an affair, and he was the result. He was showing so many signals that he desperately needed to be in therapy..an accident waiting to happen. When I read his history re torturing and killing animals? That is a classic. I imagine that there was not a lot of attention paid to what he was doing, and no intervention.

When I heard what Newt said? I am glad I was not near my little grandkids..I am a potty mouth. I used to like him. I hope he has no future political aspirations.

The upcoming election may very well be the most important in our history, as we face issues that were literally unknown even 30 years ago that will see if we have a future, and IMHO there is not one single demonrat candidate that is even capable of running for dog catcher. They are so full of themselves that this could very well help in their undoing. And Shrillary, along with Barack Hussein Obama and the Breck Girl are heading towards problems that hopefully will undo them. I can dream, can't I?

There is only 1 Republican that I will not and cannot vote for,but it will not be a problem, as he will not make it. He is doing well now, but will fail, and I would make a bet on it. Rudy I can happily vote for, but Huckabee is my favorite. Onray Aulpay is a joke.

Have a safe fast.

It does indeed...according to the noon news on my local ABC news it is a done seal and he will have a Secret Service detail. This has not been updated...but it is now going to happen.
