Resolution Condemning MoveOn.org Passes, Kos Kidz Seething

Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 10:28:43 am PDT

President Bush ripped the Democrats today over their disgraceful failure to denounce the anti-Petraeus MoveOn.org advertisement.

Meanwhile, the Senate just passed the resolution condemning MoveOn.org, and the Kos Kidz are boiling with rage: Daily Kos: Do the Democrats even know who votes for them anymore?

The Democrats just passed a Republican resolution condemning the MoveOn ad that called General Petraeus a biased figurehead 72-25.

Do the Democrats even know who votes for them anymore? Don’t they understand that if they continue to piss off the die-hard Democrats, the MoveOn Democrats, they are going to continue to lose elections?

The Republicans have won for 20 years by rallying and paying off their base. The Democrats absolutely refuse to do the same. Small wonder they haven’t won big in a while.

I’m a MoveOn Democrat. I approved that message. And it’s becoming clear that the Democrats in Congress don’t speak for me. Let the primary challenges roll.

The new mainstream voice of the Democratic Party.

Nice spin you Kos POS. The MoveOn ad was much more despicable than you are framing it.

Has anybody seen any Democratic front-runners publicly denouncing the MoveOnAndOnAndOn ad?...Hillary?...Barak Hussein? How did they vote on the resolution?

Personally, I thought it was offensive. General Petraeus (sp?) is a 30+ year career military man with an impeccable record (apparently). He is now and has in the past put his life on the line (sometimes the front lines) for this country. To accuse this man, without evidence, of suddenly have NO INTEGRITY or CONVICTIONS whatsover really gets me angry...ESPECIALLY from the likes of Hillary or any of those other bozos.

Thanks for listening. Go Fred.

I do. I understand that much of the democrat party has slid into insane America hatred, BDS, and leftism, each facet feeding off the others.

What

you

don't understand is that your leaders can't openly admit they are as wacko as you right now, because they still have to keep the millions of sane democrats.

People like my aunt, whose hubby was a coal miner, a union man, so they've always been Dems, but who is a moral, sane, hardworking, responsible, and Christian woman.

Clifford May makes a sober assessment:

"One more thing: The antiwar movement made a strategic error by aiming not to persuade but to punish; not to debate but to coerce and bully. This approach reached its peak — or rather its nadir — with MoveOn.org’s full-page ad accusing General Petraeus of “betraying” his country for daring to say that continuing to fight al Qaeda and Iranian-backed militias is preferable to ceding Iraq to these enemies of America. Carter: Iran No Threat to Israel Now

Carter did not dismiss the idea that Iran might want to attack Israel, noting Iran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment production despite two United Nations resolutions imposing sanctions on the country. Tehran insists its nuclear program is aimed at producing energy for civilian use but the U.S., its European allies and many others fear the program's real aim is to produce nuclear weapons.

"Obviously, we all hope we can do whatever we can to keep Iran from becoming a nuclear power," Carter said.

Carter said unease between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank is a far greater threat to Israel's security than Iran. He criticized the Bush administration for not doing enough to broker peace in the region.

"In the last three weeks, the amount of ice melting in the Arctic has been completely unprecedented. In only six days an area the size of the US state of Florida disappeared; in the week before that, an area almost twice the size of Britain disappeared.

"It's melting 10 times faster than previously recorded. Experts are now saying that if we don't act with urgency, the entire ice cap could be completely gone in less than 23 years."

Mr Gore said that despite all the scientific evidence about climate change, inaction still ruled among governments and business.

Raising his voice almost to a shout, he said climate change was not scientific, political or ideological.

"It's about survival."

Uh, it's summer in the arctic. The sun is out. Ice melts. Then winter comes. Climate changes, with or without Rove and Bush. That what happens when the earth goes around the sun.

Gore would do as well in a basic science class as Kos would on a test on the US constitution.

Well if the Nuclear Engineer himself says it, it must be true.

BOTTOM LINE: this is the right and proper thing to do. The politics of smear and slander belong in the political arena, not in the arena of those who put their lives on the line for the welfare of their fellow Americans. This is a concept that is foreign to anarchists but well understood by the vast majority of Americans and, notably, senators.

My sentiments exactly - also my senators, and Boxer is certifiable. Politicians from both parties agreed that the Iranian leader should not be allowed to visit Ground Zero. The Sun tallied up the comments: Senator Hillary Clinton called it "unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country's support of terrorism, to visit the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation's history," while Senator Barack Obama said Ahmadinejad not should be allowed to "posture" against the "backdrop" of Ground Zero. Fred Thompson's spokesperson said it was an "insult to the memory of those who died on 9/11 at the hands of terrorists" while Mitt Romney called the request "shockingly audacious," and Giuliani felt it was "outrageous."

Thanks, I stand corrected...If she is as politically astute as the media claims she is, then she should actively participate in the protest against Dinnerjacket's Ground Zero visit.

They would rather wear that over the badges of the Young Pioneers?

Perhaps those buttons were the Grand Mufti's favorites and they go so well with their keffiyeh's.

Of course the sad news is that 1/4 of the senators voted Nay. About the same percentage as their approval rating. I wonder if the same who agree with Move on are the same ones being contacted by the pollsters?

The Republicans have won for 20 years by rallying and paying off their base. The Democrats absolutely refuse to do the same.

What the kids don't seem to get (and probably never will) is that the Republican "base" is, for the most part, middle America and generally represents main-stream American political mores and beliefs.

The MoveOn crew are about 60 light years away from main stream American political values. Just because you have a ga-zillion dollars behind you, get a lot of media coverage in the MSN and make a lot of noise doesn't mean your message resonates with anyone! Outside of the media elites, neo-socialists and the "Bush Sucks" crowd - no one is buying with MoveOn is selling.

I don't even need to read the link to guess the rationale.

When they are advancing evil, they say, "It is a free country, one can say anything, even if it is distasteful."

When they are banning cartoons or the wearing of an American flag (or otherwise hindering good) they say, "It can offend some and we need to be considerate of others' feelings. We can't exclude."

he voted for the Boxer amendment which attempted to add the 2002 ads against Cleland and the 2004 Swift Boat ads against Kerry to the condemnation.

What was wrong with those two ads? Cleland did put the public employees unions ahead of national security. And I don't even have to talk about the Swift Boat heroes.

In the minds of Boxer and like minded - those ads were the same if not worse since they prevented Donks gaining their rightful election.

It's just another clear case that they don't get it.

192 Arbalest  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 11:12:32am

Do the Democrats even know who votes for them anymore?

It seems that they are starting to remember. It’s not Hsu and his money, or bloggers who claim authority to direct whether or not a televised Democratic Debate takes place, without first having been elected to that office.

It’s people who work for a living instead of accepting government assistance, it’s all those people in fly-over country, all those Democrats who have their same core values from years ago (and who now see those values in the Republican candidates), . . . . . .

The voters certainly know, and it's still not Hsu and his money, or bloggers who claim authority to direct whether or not a televised Democratic Debate takes place, without first having been elected to that office, or . . . . . .

The Republicans have won for 20 years by rallying and paying off their base. The Democrats absolutely refuse to do the same. Small wonder they haven’t won big in a while.

Quite correct. MoveOn and Kos are not and have never been the Democratic base. Instead they have tried to move the Democratic values far to the Left, to align with their Socialist agenda, and many people are starting to wake up.

MoveOn and Kos will soon be tossed upon the scrapheap of failed ideologies.

No, I don't think she will. These people are all about the moment and have remarkably short memories (dope does that to you). In the primaries I suspect many won't get around to voting simply because they're unaware of when their primaries are. They may go vote for Kucinich or Ron Paul or some such, but they won't determine the outcome of the convention. In the general election, some may just stay home or vote for whoever the CPUSA candidate is, but a fair number will likely go and just pull that Democrat lever. That is what she's banking on. In any event, the core of the Kosmonaut crowd falls in the segment of the population -- 18 to 25 year-olds -- who don't vote anyway. Politicians learned years ago that you can't get elected based on their support, and you won't lose if they reject you. Their impact on the vote is insignificant, despite how much they bluster. Just ask Howard Dean.

re: #201 lucius septimius

That said (continuing a thought after being interrupted) the MoveOn ads could very well have a disastrous effect on the Democrats, just as the '68 convention did.

Presidential elections are about the 30% of the electorate that are "undecided." The more the party is associated with anti-americanism, the harder it will be to pull that group over in sufficient numbers. And Hillary's good looks won't be enough.

One other factor -- most voter studies show that people vote based on local conditions. The economy is generally pretty good, and the only places where it isn't the dems would carry anyway. That complicates the dem's strategy, hence their efforts to try to down play economic growth (Greenspan has been duped into helping them out in that regard, but never forget he's a Nixonian). In many ways, the "war in Iraq" is a way of distracting attention away from the economy, but now it's becoming harder for them to pull it off.

ATLANTA (AP) - Former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday that it was almost inconceivable that Iran would "commit suicide" by launching missiles at Israel.

So let me get this straight. If I whisper the word 'bomb' in an airport, the least that I will be subject to is a rather uncomfortable search, but when the head of a large country with nuclear arms ambitions says that Israel should be 'wiped from the map', we can safely ignore it. Did I get that right?

Schadenfrude, sweet sweet shadenfrude!

For any moonbat who might care to listen, a few smacks from the cluebat as to why your stellar program is not sweeping the nation;
1)Many of those who respond negatively to the war when polled are negative because the war has NOT been prosecuted aggressively enough.
2)85% of the people do not like to see the flag flown upside down, even for a supposedly valid reason. (Silhouette's loyal and patriotic Democratic aunt in post 43 is far from being alone)
3)Americans will not abide a loser (hat tip; Gen. Patton).
4)White liberal guilt has passed its sell-by date. The 60's are (finally!) over.
5)Cartman rules, "I really, really hate g*d damned hippies"

Carter: Iran No Threat to Israel Now

Well if the Nuclear Engineer himself says it, it must be true.

Jimmy Carter is not a nuclear engineer. He went through Annapolis under a 3 year program during WWII, which did not award engineering degrees. Later, he went partway through the officer version of reactor operators school, but resigned his commission to go back to Plains and run the family peanut business after his father died.

Neither did he ever serve aboard a nuclear submarine.

O/T (PUKE!)

IAEA slams Israel's 'no tell' nuclear policy in new resolution

A 144-nation atomic energy conference criticized Israel Thursday for refusing to put its nuclear program under international purview, with the United States alone in supporting the Jewish state.

Besides Washington, only Israel voted against the resolution while 53 nations backed it and 47 abstained.

The remaining nations were absent for the highly unusual vote - only the second in the 16 years the issue has been on the agenda of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Up to last year, the resolution on "Application of IAEA Safeguards in the Middle East" had been adopted by consensus, but in 2006, and again this year, Israeli objections forced a vote.

This year, Israel opposed two paragraphs - one calling all nations in the Middle East "not to develop, test or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons," the other urging nuclear weapons states to "refrain from any action" hindering the establishment of a Mideast zone free of nuclear weapons.

Both passages were clearly aimed at Israel, which is considered to have nuclear weapons despite its "no tell" policy on the issue and which counts on the United States as its chief ally for support - both in the outside world and in forums such as the conference.

Israeli opposition last year was sparked by a separate Arab-sponsored resolution deeming Israel a "nuclear threat" and refusal by its sponsors to withdraw it.

While that resolution was put up for adoption it was not voted on. A similar resolution was being prepared for consideration at the gathering Friday.

A Western diplomat whose country normally is supportive of Israel sought to diminish the negative impact of the vote, pointing out that last year, 98 approved the resolution, with three abstaining and the United States and Israel opposed.

Still, although the conference has no decision-making powers, the lack of consensus reflected deepening tensions in the Middle East.

Evidence that that Israel has nuclear arms is overwhelming, much of it based on details and pictures leaked in 1986 by Israeli nuclear technician Mordechai Vanunu. His revelations have been added to by other leaks, research, and by statements made by Israeli leaders that stopped just short of confirming Israel's status as a weapons state.

Israel's doctrine of "nuclear ambiguity" - never formally confirming or denying that it has such weapons - is meant to scare potential enemies from considering an annihilating attack while denying them the rationale for developing their own nuclear deterrent.

Explaining his call for a vote, chief Israeli delegate Gideon Frank suggested lack of willingness to remove resolution language his country objected to showed there was "no interest in consensus" by Egypt, which submitted the document and the other nations most in support - Arab countries and Iran.

"The way to build security ... is to aim high but start modestly and move carefully ahead," Frank told delegates, arguing - as every year - that distrust in the region had to be dismantled slowly before sweeping measures like a Middle East nuclear-free zone could be established.

In any article, like one just the other day about how the Webb bill (limiting in theater time to be no longer than home time) was defeated there were the typical spin add-on lines like "in this increasingly unpopular war".

If the war is "increasingly unpopular" how is it that no anti-war bill ever passes congress?

You see this all the time. They're so blinded by their belief that they can control the message that they start to believe their own lies, witnessed by the fact that they don't see the disconnect of their own conflicting statements.

NY Congressman Says 'Too Many Mosques' in U.S.

A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on Republican leaders to repudiate remarks by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) in which he said “we have too many mosques in this country.”

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) also urged Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani to drop King and commentator Daniel Pipes as campaign advisors because of their extremist and Islamophobic views and comments.

12 Schools in New Jersey closed over bomb threats

EMERSON, N.J. (AP) - Students in 12 northern New Jersey towns got an unexpected day off Thursday after a threatening letter warned that several schools would be "blown out" at 11:30 a.m.

Emerson's mayor received the letter Wednesday, and police and sheriff's deputies searched about 60 school buildings there and in surrounding northern New Jersey towns through the night but found no explosives, Bergen County Police Capt. Kevin Hartnett said.

Classes, canceled for about 14,000 students Thursday, were to resume Friday.

"It's important that we respond appropriately to any threat to our schools or students," Emerson Police Chief Michael Saudino said.

Neither did he ever serve aboard a nuclear submarine.

There is just so much stuff that has been swept under the rug - time for a good old fashioned rug beating. Dick Morris should sign on as a consultant to the Repubs. to point to all of the skeltons. First, lets get the guest list for Lincoln bedroom for those 8 years, lets get Hill's papers out on the table - all of them - now, not December 2008, lets find out just exactly who her inner circle is comprised of, re-visit a lot of cold cases associated with those thrown under the bus or never heard from again (Foster, AK state troopers, Broderick, etc.) and then a serious invesitigation into all of that money flowing in, out and all around. Just for starters. Surely the Repubs can come up with a sugar daddy or two on par with the resources of a George Soros.

Wars are not popularity contests. Wars are waged to be won or lost. When one sides leaves the battlefield while still under fire from the other side it has lost. Germany didn't surrender because we left Europe and pulled all of our forces out. Japan didn't surrender because of a trade embargo.

Shock Waves From Syria

Another choice is faced by the Bush administration, which hopes to complete an accord with North Korea by the end of the year under which North Korea will disclose all of its nuclear programs and disable its facilities. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said this week that concerns about proliferation only added to the urgency of moving ahead on the deal. That's true -- but it doesn't mean U.S. negotiators can ignore the possibility that North Korea was shipping nuclear equipment to Syria even while promising to dismantle its own program. Pyongyang's dealings with Syria are a legitimate and necessary subject of inquiry when the six-party talks resume -- and they ought to be part of North Korea's promised disclosure.

WTF? So Rice takes the fact that North Korea was proliferating nuclear technology to Syria, even while negotiating with the US to end their own nuclear weapons program, as an argument why the US should move ahead with the deal?

OK, suppose you're a bank manager and a well known shady character comes in to negotiate a loan. Meanwhile his partner is caught pulling a heist at another branch. Is that a good reason to hurry up and give the shady guy the loan?

Here's the roundup on statements from both parties about DinnerJackets proposed Ground Zero visit:

Notice that if, theoretically, Dinner Jacket were to say "OK, I guess we've done enough terrorism for now", that would be enough for Hillary. No sense of actually making the guy pay for the thousands of lives lost through Iranian state-sponsored terrorism. Just don't do it again and all is forgiven.

The Democrat Party is clearly too conservative for the KosKids and the many other TRUE patriots with that mindbent. They should definitely start a third party..one that embraces all their "progressive" ideals. There is no reason they should vote for a bunch of spineless Democrat insiders...

That's right, you know, Kos Kidz. You really should stand up for your ideals. Are you going to knuckle-under to the MAN and sell out by voting for the useless, puppet Democrat Party? Or are you going to get a REVOLUTION going?

380 eon  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 12:24:55pm

The reaction of the KosKids to this is predictable. As was the reaction of what I now think of as the "Appeasement Wing" of the Democratic Senate delegation. (Trying equally hard to appease both the Islamists and their own radicals- for them this vote was a two-fer.)

I am reminded of two quotes that are applicable here;

(Re the Democratic Party):

"(The independent partisan units known as the Conglomerates) were organized rather like the Democratic Party, being held together only by the cohesive power of public plunder."

- John Singleton Mosby, quoted in the article "Rebel Raider", by H. Beam Piper, True Magazine, December 1950 (Available online at Project Gutenberg)

(Re Pacifists and pacifism, i.e., the Koslings):

"A 'pacifist male' is a contradiction in terms. Most self-described 'pacifists' are not pacific; they simply assume false colors. When the wind changes, they hoist the Jolly Roger."

- Robert Heinlein, "Excerpts from The Notebooks of Lazarus Long", in Time Enough For Love, 1973

(Emphasis in the Heinlein quote is mine.)

cheers

The Lightning is tag-less and hiding in the backyard, from the goons of the Md MVA.

They untruthfully report to my insurance companies that I was at fault for an accident, the insurance company than raises my rates without telling me and then cancels my insurance when I don't pay the "corrected" premium, that they didn't tell me about. The insurance company doesn't bother to inform me that my insurance is canceled, but they make certain to instantly tell MVA, who instantly begins fining me for having no insurance.

This has happened three times in the last three years.

It's a typical State of Maryland (D) fund raising scam.

Otherwise, the Lightning runs great...

re: #174 EC Marm

re: #144 kham

Here's the roundup on statements from both parties about DinnerJackets proposed Ground Zero visit:

Notice how - the pro-hillary media places Giuliani last...

re: #343 Ed Mahmoud's Sock Puppet

Hey Ed,

I don't recall if I asked you this before: where did you go to nuke school? I went to Orlando in the late fall of 1975 (class of 76) - first group in the new school. Prototyped at KAPL in Balston Spa, NY. USS Skate, SSN 578 - 77-81.

Jim

Class 8403, Section 14, "the sex gods". Orlando, MMC Sparks was our whatever leader, even though we were all ETs. For a lifer, very, very cool. He shared an office with an ETCS named Kiser, who later showed up on the USS Chuck Wagon as a WO, then made Enzyme. Kiser bragged of his vasectomy, despite being single. But I digress. Chief Sparks, for a lifer, was very cool. If we kept our grades up and passed all the tests, no mando hours. I remember a flaky instructor, Ensign Henke. When I was going through, they'd give commission to engineering grads just to teach the school. "Direct Input Officers".. She was a trip, I suspect much dope in college. Anyway, she had to leave the Navy when an ET3 a couple of classes behind us got her pregnant.

I had me a Class 8403 yellow t-shirt, with a motto and a pocket calculator with "4.0" on the display on it, but I wore a "Large" then, and I wear a 2XL now, so it doesn't really fit.

There was a topless bar right outside NTC Orlando, 32813, but it was skanky, and when possible, the OBT was my destination. So many topless bars, there was competition. One bar had a happy hour 'til 9, two for one $1 mugs of beer. Even in 1983 and 1984, that rocked most well. Across from the topless bar just outside the gate, they opened a movie theater that had comfy seats, and waitresses who served beer, wine and snacks. What a wonderful concept that was, not to catch on.

Until last year, when some brilliant young capitalist opened a couple of "Movie Taverns", right here in HOU. One off I-45 near Airtex.

For a while, we were allowed to go to the enlisted club, which was great, recruit girls who had been locked up (except for a weekend visit to Disney or Universal that we never got at G'lakes) for two months w/o men or beer. I never did commit what probably would be considered non-consensual sex due to intoxication, as I am, deep down, a gentleman, sort of, but I did hit a few base hits.

Than they changed the rule, E-3 and below only at enlisted club, we had to go to the petty officers club, farther away from where we lived on base, and the few women there were all butch RTC instructors.

Was supposed to go to MARF, but they had a steam generator leak with big time secondary contamination, and they delayed the refurb at D1G for one more class.

Well, I hope the gloves finally come off and we can all get right into Hillary's personal life. Not all of us thought she was a wounded fawn, just standin' by her man.
If she is vindicated after all of that - she can have my vote.

So you have no problem with Whitewater? Or the massive list of thugs drug dealers, fraudsters, and terrorists who paid cash money to the Clintons and their families for pardons in the last week of BJ Clinton's presidency? The New Square,NY scandal might be the most egregious of those.

I thought it would be an interesting exercise to compare the 'Nay' votes to the resolution condemning the MoveOn.org slam against General Patraeus to the vote to approve the General for his position to command in Iraq.

Akaka D-Hi Voted to Confirm the General
Bingaman D-NM Voted to Confirm
Boxer D-CA Did not vote
Brown D-OH Voted to Confirm
Byrd D-WV Voted to Confirm
Clinton D-NY Voted to Confirm
Dodd D-CT Voted to Confirm

Rockefeller D-WV Voted to Confirm
Sanders I-VT Voted to Confirm
Schumer D-NY Voted to Confirm
Stabenow D-MI Voted to Confirm
Whitehouse D-RI Voted to Confirm
Wyden D-OR Voted to Confirm

Only 3 of the 25 who voted against the censure of MoveOn.org for their slam against General Patraeus did not vote to confirm the General. The other 22 have demonstrated a complete lack of moral authority. They are either bought and sold by MoveOn.org as that organization has said or they decided for political reasons to abandon a 4 star General that they confirmed for the role and ignore / denigrate his report on the status because it says what they don't want it to say.

I think you misunderstand the point I am raising. The 25 names are those who voted this morning against the Cornyn amendment / resolution to the Senate that said -

To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

I compared their votes today to the votes they cast in January to confirm the General to his post. In this comparison 23 of those 25 donks who voted against the resolution condemning the MoveOn.org ad and supporting the General today voted to confirm the General in January.

In January, the General was the right person for that job according to the Senate (81-0, 19 not voting). Now, and particularly after that vile advert by MoveOn.org, 23 of them will not support the General or condemn their piggy bank / nutter base because his message - the message that the Senate asked him to deliver in May - did not fit what they wanted to hear or believe.

So, as I said, either they are in the pocket of MoveOn or they have decided for political purposes to kill the messenger when they don't like the message.

416 justacanuck  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 1:33:18pm

I went to D1G too. They were building MARF while I was there. Had another prototype - S3G in a short sub hull mockup. The D1G Hortonsphere was a real trip.

We had DIOs at Orlando in 76 too. They were on short contracts with not much chance to convert to regular Navy. Jobs were tight for hard science grads at the time, so we ended up with a bunch of physicists and chemists as officer instructors. We had a bunch of chiefs for the in-rate and integrated plant classes.

There wasn't much built up around the Orlando RTC/NTC when I was there. Orlando was still a kinda small city - pretty quiet. I didn't take long for that to change though. I probably wouldn't recognize the place now.

Spent most of my down time on Cocoa Beach and a little bit at Daytona - just head east on the Beeline Expressway if I recall.

Man-o-man, that was a while ago!

The only remote reason there could be a shred of validity to this nonsense is MoveOn is a registered PAC and derives certain benefits from that; you can argue they're more participatory in politics and should be held to a certain standard.

But I'm not sure I buy my own argument. Just remember, the next time politicians decide to "censure" free speach, it just might be speech that supports your point of view of even your own. And if politicians get comfortable doing it, and see value-added at election time, they might just decide to kick it up a notch from "censure" to "subpoena".

Gutless cowards, big on symbols, no balls to accomplish anything of substance.

Do you know what's great about this? MoveOn tried the classic Alinskyite tactic of "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it" (Rules for Radicals#13), and it backfired. Big Time.

The Left has been using this for years (cf. Pres. Bush), and it has become their dominant tactic, after having been drawn into the mainstream by the Clintons. I'm hoping that we'll start see its effectiveness continue to fade.

I think there some kind of motto, maybe by Rickover himself, something like "in this school, the brilliant will work as hard as those who must struggle to complete it".

But we modified it to "in this school, the stupid shall suffer".

And they did. Someone in my class (8704 if I remember correctly) actually asked if there was a mechanism to eject the core in the event of a meltdown. He eventually bounced out on an Integrity violation, but we had great fun at his expense until then.

re: #412 cblesz

Ok...thanks

"...paying off their base. The Democrats absolutely refuse to do the same."

You mean like instituing welfare, social security, medicare, public schools, union contracts, farm subsidies, open borders, and all the other marxist garbage you whine for?

429 brent  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 2:34:38pm

I’m a MoveOn Democrat. I approved that message. I live in my basement, and I'm really pissed off at South Park for that Truther episode. I mean, come on - get a clue? Is that some kind of crack.

But I digress. I'm super steamed that the Dems won't listen to us - wait a minute, ma, I'm writing! I'll be there - sh*t, I always type what I say. I also mouth what I read, but - I"ll be there in a minute! She's worse than that Nancy Pelosi lady- if I saw her in WOW, I'd totally pwn her.

That rhymes with - I'm COMING!

Do the Democrats even know who votes for them anymore? Don’t they understand that if they continue to piss off the die-hard Democrats, the MoveOn Democrats, they are going to continue to lose elections?

And winning elections is the ONLY thing that matters!

/sarcasm

431 Irish Rose  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 3:47:30pm

Can the Dems' agenda be ANY more transparent?

432 Grim17  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 3:47:43pm

This is my very first comment on LGF.

I don't know if anyone else picked up on this, but John Kerry was one of the very few democrats that condemned the MoveOn ad when it first came out, but now he decided to vote against this amendment.

So, the headline for this story could be "Once A Flip-Flopper, Always A Flip-Flopper"

lol

Are you serious? wow is he pathetic.

A true patriot - General Petraeus.
Those who voted against the resolution - why do they betray us?

/How much are those NYT ads again?

Ok, a question for the astute lizards out there, as I admit my ignorance, but wasn't there some confirmation process for General Petraeus when he was selected to command the Iraq war? If so, it would be interesting to compare the nay votes of this resolution with the yea votes for his confirmation.

No way- seriously? That is too, too rich. Color me... well not shocked at all really. See this is why we need Dan Rather back as the head of CBS news. CERTAINLY he would have picked up on such a juicy piece of leftist irony and reported it to the millions.

Didn't Move On also accuse Bush of letting the levees break in N.O.?

re: #295 FrogMarch

I take it back. Clinton did pander to the uber-left-wing base.

Congratulations! Clinton sucks up to the neo-Marxists.

Lets watch the pro-dem media cover for her...

She is a closet socialist commie.

re: #268 KrsnaDas

All their campaign buses are short-buses.

OK, I have to get this off my chest.
I apologize in advance for the off-topic departure.

All due respect there, Sifty... but my son used to ride the "short bus".

He's also a U.S. Marine.

He graduated basic with high honors, finished his training at the top of his class, and he's doing critical work in the Corp. that very (very) few of our Marines are able to qualify for. The lives of our men and women in uniform are dependent on his skill and expertise.

A lot of smart people ride the "short bus" ;).

Does he explain how a twin prop engine cargo aircraft, (modified into a spy plane), go about intentionally ramming a jet fighter?

Err, four engine airliner. Locheed Electra to be exact. Some were later converted to cargo, but the P3 is built to spec.

MoveOn took Bush's bait in producing "Betray Us." That's all there is too it really. Petraeus's testimony was a perfect set-up--a political fork if you will. Arguing with sworn testimony from an actively involved general is hard for people uninvolved in Iraq directly. So the nutroots had to accuse him of something to counteract the weight of his testimony.

Good job guys.
