New York Welcomes New Overlords

Sat, Oct 13, 2007 at 9:09:31 am PDT

I don’t know how many people complained about it, but it must have been a significant number.

The managers of the Empire State Building were determined to make their appeasement gesture anyway: Empire State Building goes green for Eid.

For the first time in its history, the Empire State Building in New York was lit in green in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

It will be green till Sunday.

So far, the landmark tower has been lit in traditional colours every year only on the occasion of Christmas and the Jewish festival Hannukah. From this year on, lighting on Eid too will become an annual event.

At the end of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world celebrate for three days to mark the end of Ramadan. In Islam, the colour green symbolizes a happy occasion.

Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan, the Empire State Building was recently named America’s most favourite building in the poll conducted by American Institute of Architects.

Investor’s Business Daily calls it: Sharia By The Inch.

In a monumental nod to political correctness, the Empire State Building is to be lit up green in honor of the Muslim holiday Eid. The separation of Islam from terror is officially complete.

Six years ago, Islamic terrorists screamed “Allah is Greatest!” as they slammed fuel-laden jumbo jets into two other New York skyscrapers. Six years ago, New Yorkers were worried about the Green Menace.

Now, for the first time, New York’s remaining famous skyscraper will be aglow in green — the color of Islam — to mark the end of Ramadan, a month of intense Islamic renewal. Officials say it’ll be an annual event, in the same tradition of the yearly skyscraper lighting for Christmas and Hanukkah.

What’s next, Ground Zero festooned with crescent moons and stars?

Sorry, but who more is to blame than Bush for all this Islam Religion of Peace bullshiit (sic). Since 9/11 Islam has experienced nothing but a GREATER and more SYMPATHETIC profile in the US. Now the Saudis are getting $70-80 dollars a barrel for their oil and buying up American land and influence with it. If Hillary was holding hands with Bandar we'd be calling for a freakin' revolution! I'm not voting Clinton - but our support of much of what Bush has done has enabled this crap. Forget Iraq, we should have invaded Riyadh and those white robe table cloth wearin' MFers.

What really is sad, 9-11 was at least a partial success. Would Americans have been concerned enough about Islam, would CAIR and its allies have been so bold, if Islam hadn't had their not so little murder fest six years ago?

IBD gets an A+ on the Islamic homework assignment:

But more damning, investigators recently uncovered smoking-gun documents revealing that many founders of the major Muslim groups in the U.S. were involved in a secret plot to take over the U.S. by using our religious and political freedoms against us.

They call themselves Americans, but they view our system of government, our way of life, as an abomination to Allah. They've devised a scheme to sabotage our "miserable house" from within and dismantle it piece by piece, replacing it with "Dar al-Islam" -- the House of Peace.

Then, and only then, will there be the kind of peace the president believes Islam represents today.

Our military is increasingly considered a paper tiger that A) isn't nearly as strong as feared OR B) won't ever use its overwhelming capabilities for fear of world opinion. OT. I have spent a considerable amount of time looking into the impact of the Greek heritage and its meeting with Christian and Islamic cultures, and on pondering why the Scientific Revolution took place in Europe and not elsewhere. This started with a post at the Brussels Journal, and continued with an essay in three parts at Jihad Watch. I have now combined these four essays, with some changes and additions, into one long post of about 23,000 words at the Gates of Vienna. This booklet can be quoted or republished in full by anybody who wants to as long as I am credited as the author. It can also be translated into other languages, which the German blog Acht der Schwerter is already doing.

From 2002.

Donald Trump is considering four offers for his stake in the Empire State Building.

One of those bids is from Peter Malkin, whose investment group controls the 115-year master lease to the property. The three remaining bids were placed by unnamed foreign parties, according to Trump.

"In the next few months we will be considering the offers, and we hope to make a decision then," said Donald Trump, president of the Trump Organization.

Trump has reportedly wanted to sell the building for years, though he has said publicly that he "love(s) the asset."

Islam (radical or not) makes no room for religious co-existance. 'There is NO other god but Allah.' The Judeo-Christian God is not invited to the party. The multi-faceted Godhead of Hinduism is not even in the ballpark.

Islamists see this Eid consession as a symbol of weakness on our part. The great old Arab/Islamic warriors would just shake their heads in disgust and wait for us to collapse internally out of fear of the armys that lay just outside the gates of Jerusalem.

Geez, has anyone ever studied the Crusades ? The Europeans tried to appease the Muslim armies by studying the Koran and Islam and greeting their generals in that fashion as a matter of military honor. The Muslims responded to the sentiment by pulling all the crosses down in the Old City.

Yeah, the Crusades were wacky, but it is a good example as to what is going on today.

Am I the only one here that think the Northeast has lost touch with the remainder of this country? Their devotion to their liberal beliefs is almost a religion. A religion of secularism, where everything abnormal is proper and everything that is good is abhorrent.

Lawyers are their priests and judges their bishops. They force their believes on the rest of us because the population density gives them the balance of power in congress and at the polls. They wish to do away with the electoral college so that they can dictate to the rest of us.

The northeast, in general, is so out of touch with beliefs and morals of the rest of us that us that it should be separate. Wasn't it a similar set of circumstances that led to secession in 1861? Please look at a map of the red and blue states for the election of 2000. Juxtapose it to the map of union and confederate states.

Once again we are in a situation where a few populace states are trying to dictate terms to the rest of us. Appeasement, gayness, taxes for entitlements. I am ranting, I know, but nothing like this would happen in Texas or Arizona.

Those states west of the Mississippi and south of the Ohio are being run over by a few radical states.

Yes, of course...supply and demand! As though China came "online" in 2003 and suddenly started demanded oil that raised costs 400%. Ack, Fjordman linked himself before I did!

JINX!

Interesting factoid from Fjordman's article:

Some researchers believe that Syriac, or Syro-Aramaic, was also the root of the Koran. When it was composed, Arabic was not fully developed as a written language. Syriac, however, was widely used in the region at the time. Ibn Warraq estimates that up to 20% of the Koran is incomprehensible even to educated Arabs because segments of it were originally written in another, related language before Muhammad was born. A German professor of ancient Semitic and Arabic languages writes about the subject under the pseudonym Christoph Luxenberg. If you believe Luxenberg, the chapters or suras of the Koran usually ascribed to the Mecca period, which are also the most tolerant and non-violent ones as opposed to the much harsher and more violent chapters from Medina, are not “Islamic” at all, but Christian:
“In its origin, the Koran is a Syro-Aramaic liturgical book, with hymns and extracts from Scriptures which might have been used in sacred Christian services. (...) Its socio-political sections, which are not especially related to the original Koran, were added later in Medina. At its beginning, the Koran was not conceived as the foundation of a new religion. It presupposes belief in the Scriptures, and thus functioned merely as an inroad into Arabic society.”

So how weird is it that the Templars getting pardoned is leading off the news on Friday Oct. 12th, 2007 and Saturday Oct. 13th, 2007? I mean can you feel the history crackling around us?

The Templars were vulnerable because they had lost the Outremer to the Saracens. But now the church is saying it was probably a mistake to condemn the most durable Crusaders...

Just as the Islamic clerics give us a 'peace' or else demand the church reverses itself on the Templars on the 700th anniversary...

Those lefties in the Northeast would say the same about the entire Southeast. Unfortunatley, those in the Northeast would find people who agree with them in the northwest, and increasingly throughout the southwest, which leaves the southeast very much alone. It's definitely a scary time.

I can see a time when the South east would join with the Midwest and and rocky mountain region and tell the rest of the states to bugger off. Is it time for this country to be dismantled? I don't know, but I go with the South if they decide they have had enough.

If you're comfortable with Saudi citizens killing 3,000 plus Americans, then some Saudi prince visiting ground zero, offering 10 million along with the caveat that maybe America should ask itself why the murder (Rudy turned the 10 million down, you recall), then the Saudi regime suffers NO retribution other than fat oil profits...

Did I say that? Seems like I've been responding to your comments with single sentence answers. And short ones at that.

Do you understand the term fungible commodity?

Your rant began by accusing the President of being 'marvelous' for a commodity that is bought and sold worldwide.

If we don't buy the oil (on the market, where business in oil is conducted), someone else will. At the market price.

President Bush has nothing to do with the price of oil.

It must have occurred to the folks responsible for allowing the building to be bathed in green that the Empire State Building is a huge target for terrorism. It's now the tallest tree in the forest of the NYC skyscrapers.
And it could have just as easily been the Empire State Building as the Twin Towers on that clean crisp blue day in September six years ago.

What's next? Moving the hot dog vendors off the corner to make room for some halal kabobs?

I agree, where are they? They should be filing a lawsuit against the owner of the building and staging protests.

But where are those who will stand up to the owners of that building in their defense? They should not have to suffer this idiocy in lonely silence. Where are the protests from the citizens of NYC?

Where the hell is the outrage?

This is an absolute disgrace, lizards, a slap in the face to anyone who lost a friend or loved one in the shadow of that building on 9/11... the people who are responsible for this are less than human beings, and absolutely worthy of our deepest contempt.

Who is responsible for this decision? I say, we need to put a face on it.

I implore our investigative lizards and friends to root out the names of those who are responsible for this perversion, with email addresses if you can find them.

I do blame him (his administration/administrative term) for the rise of Ahmadinejad, the arrogance of Chavez, the aloofness of Kim Jong Il, the unfounded resistance of men like Mugabe and Ahmad al-BASHIR, the political assertiveness of Hamas and Hizbullah, of men like Nasrallah and Muqtada Al-Sadr. And, yes, of $3.00 oil prices that benefit the worst countries in the world - countries that openly despise us - Russia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela - and yes, Norway and Canada! :) You're right - I DO RANT. Why should anyone here be surprised or upset? The ESB going green to honor Islam is the logical corollary of our strategy in Iraq -- Islam is a religion of Peace hijacked by a tiny minority, they are actually liberals just like us, and our security, our victory, is dependant on winning their hearts and minds, of weaning them away from jihad, welcoming them with open arms, and showing them we love them.

With that in mind, how dare anyone suggest we not honor Islam by lighting up the ESB?! That would be Islamophobia, that would be racist, that would be mean and hostile, and will provoke Muslims into a violent rage, and undo all the good we've done by making nice with them. Moderate Muslims are our salvation and the only hope we have of safeguarding America. You right-wing Islamophobes, you rednecks, you vigilantes -- you need to get with the program.

I don't see what the problem is with this. The Empire State Building lights up for all sorts of holidays, including Christmas. We DO have Muslims in New York, after all...some of them lost friends and family in the WTC. Why not light it up for this holiday? It's not like the ESB is changing its colors for some random holiday like the Shiite event where they cut themselves for the Imam Hussein or something like that. It's the end of Ramadan— it's pretty universally a happy, normal holiday for Muslims.

I was out last night with some friends and saw the green Empire State Building while walking out of a bar. And guess what I did? I went to another bar. I still felt nice and dandy and infidel-licious. This isn't Dhimmitude. As a New Yorker, I kind of resent people from other places telling me that I'm somehow forgetting what happened here six years ago just because a local building decided to acknowledge the obvious fact that Muslims are celebrating the end of Ramadan.

I really think that is what any talk of "gun bans" is about. Not protecting kids in schools - though it should be - but about the ability of a government to easily subdue its citizens. Democrats/Socialists have probably restrained much of their indoctrination program simply due to the fact that many people who disagree with them own firearms. If the second amendment did not exist, you can bet this country would look like an impotent Norway where we all pay exorbitant taxes, have few individual rights, small properties, and beg the government for subsidization.

Islam, Christian Europe, and the Greek Heritage

Very nice, FJ, I've only read the first few pages, and last page, but it's a keeper.

One thing that further helps support the derivative (at best) and destructive nature of Islam's "intellectual" tradition is the description by Bernard Lewis, among others, of how the Islamic conquest proceeded, not by an army appearing and converting or murdering everyone on the spot, but by establishing outposts in government and at the edge of town, and taking control over generations, giving privileges to those who voluntarily converted. Only after so many decades, would the sword come out and mass murders be committed, "sudden jihad syndrome" thus has the longest possible historical roots. So existing scholars would try to win the praise of the Muslim overlords, and credit them (bogusly) with whatever was accomplished ... until in the later generations, SJS would again arise and all further intellectual progress would be suppressed.

That isn't exactly a strong answer.

Look, in my opinion there is a difference between a building acknowledging a Muslim holiday in a city with plenty of Muslims and (for example) a university allowing Muslim students to take over an interfaith prayer room. Or a newspaper unwilling to publish the Danish Mohammad cartoons.

The Empire State Building changes its lights for all sorts of holidays. Hell, just last month they even lit up for some German parade...ah, found a link.

To more clearly state what bothers me about the objection to this: As a New Yorker, I don't like the fact that people believe that we're somehow cowing to Islamofacists just because the folks at the Empire State Building added one more color scheme to their line up. I think it's a shallow point compared to all the other legitimately bothersome stuff going on out there.

Besides destroying the second tallest buildings in NYC, what contributions have muslims made to New York? Just asking.

"...the Empire State Building was recently named America’s most favourite building in the poll conducted by American Institute of Architects."

"...the Empire State Building was recently named America’s most favourite remaining building in the poll conducted by American Institute of Architects."

Fixed.

What’s next, Ground Zero festooned with crescent moons and stars?

Considering how the Flight 92 memorial in Shanksville is going that's not much of a leap.

352 Cheese Eating Victory Monkey  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 2:19:12pm

Someone should turn on the WTC memorial skylights as a protest.

re: #342 squarepeg

However much you want to compare September 11 to Pearl Harbor (and I think it's a legitimate comparison), this isn't 1942. We also interned large numbers of Japanese in internment camps starting in 1942. How far do you really want to take this comparison?

re: #342 squarepeg

The same as everyone else; living and working here.

Oops, sorry I messed up the quoting. Not quite sure how I did that, but the second quote was directed towards #349 RobCon. I will be better at using the preview function for now.

Also my apologies for double posting, I just wanted to clarify that. Though this new comment system is really fantastic.

For any of those that miss ChenZhen, this is the comment on this subject that it left on my little blog:
What the heck does lighting the Empire State Bldg in green have to do with remembering Sept. 11th?

How fucking dumb can any one person be? !

It's CZ. There ya go.
But, how can any one person be that dumb? Such a level of stupidity usually requires a committee.
hehehe. A committee of one?

Mark your calendars boys and girls. In 3 short years (2010 A.D. - f**k this CE crap) Eid Al-Fitr will fall on - you guessed it - September 11. Actually, it will neatly span the date, from September 10 to September 12, again Friday to Sunday.

re: #74 Fjordman

Fjordman, have you thought of having it printed as a pamphlet and offered for sale by a publish-on-demand organization such as [Link: www.llumina.com?...]

357 Flavia  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 4:26:40pm

I was going to remark that if the ACLU was actually consulted, as one LGFer asked about, they'd have to say "All holidays or none". But since it's a private building, the ACLU really can't be asked. But then I saw the LGFer who asked about "green being a happy color for Muslims, and this meaning Muslims will vote for Nader (WTTE)." Which got me thinking. He's Lebanese, and "anti-Israeli". Who was it who picked the name/color of the party to begin with...?

re: #61 baconeatingkaffir

I just don't get it. Why are we paying hommage to our enemies?

Does anyone here know who actually owns the building? Are they Saudis, or Malaysians, or (gasp) Democrats, or?

360 So?  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 7:41:08pm

So were the muslims dancing "ring around the rosie?"

361 So?  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 7:42:43pm

Maybe next year there could be a parade with giant floats and special coverage by CBS 60 Minutes.

I just saw a thread on a lefty board, celebrating the ESB's new hue. Their happiness seems mostly based on how much this irks conservatives, completely ignoring the fact that this is like giving a big, green finger to New York City.

Morons.

363 6pat6  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 8:35:54pm

All I have to say to the management people of the ESB is this:

Fuck you very much.

364 rtheyserius  Sat, Oct 13, 2007 8:39:49pm

This makes me sick to my stomach.

When the shit hits the fan one day, hopefully long from now, I hope these people will be held to account.

#46 Noam Sayin' 10/13/07 9:24:53 am reply quote report

What it says to me is, our leaders are pussies; mincing gramscian whores of the caliphate.

Noam Sayin' said it all: the majority of our politicos and elites are nothing but socialist pussies.

And we are not supposed to question their patriotism.

In this video, two family members of 9/11 victims are defending the Flight 93 memorial. I've woken up, and the chimp is on the pony.

368 scullymj  Sun, Oct 14, 2007 5:19:41pm

Oh, great! How long before this photo shows up on a moslem web site as proof positive that the acolytes of crazy old uncle Mo are winning?

369 J'accuzzi  Sun, Oct 14, 2007 6:53:33pm

Some bright light probably got a nudge from somewhere suggesting that a few green lights would lessen the collision with aircraft insurance premium quite a lot.

370 cpuller  Mon, Oct 15, 2007 5:30:09am

That's it, light it up! Why not paint a huge bullseye on it while you're at it? It will give the next Muslim terrorists something to aim at.
