Harry Reid Hearts Rush Limbaugh

Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 10:04:28 am PDT

As the bidding draws to a close on his ugly smear letter, Harry Reid is now taking credit for raising money for children of fallen soldiers.

Rush Limbaugh should know that this letter that they’re auctioning is going to be something that raises money for a worthwhile cause. I don’t know what we could do more important than helping to ensure that children of our fallen soldiers and police officers who have fallen in the line of duty have the opportunity for their children to have a good education. Think of this, more than $2 million — that will really help. that’s, again, an understatement. There’s only a little bit of time left so i would ask those that are wanting to do more, that they can go to Harry Reid letter and it will come up on e-bay. I encourage anyone interested with the means  to consider contributing to this worthwhile cause. I strongly believe when we can put our differences aside, even Harry Reid and Rush Limbaugh, we should do that and try to accomplish good things for the American people. This does that, madam president. More than $2 million for a letter signed by this senator and my friends.

Hypocrisy so extreme it warps time and space.

UPDATE at 10/19/07 10:15:05 am:

The winner of the auction was philanthropist Betty Casey.

UPDATE at 10/19/07 10:23:39 am:

The Daily Kos Kooks are trying to “reframe” this as an “apology:” Daily Kos: Rush Apologizes for ‘Phony Soldier’ Insult.

And of course, it’s an “apology” they have no intention of accepting.

(Hat tip: Killgore.)

Harry "The Weasel" Reid. (D-NV)

You got punk'd. Pwned.

You are a n00b in Rush's world.

You thought that you could go after Rush with a letter lacking in facts signed by 40 of your closest leftists in the Senate.

You thought that you could cow his syndicator into shutting Rush down or censuring him.

You thought wrong.

You got outwitted (not a hard thing to do really considering that you haven't gotten a single thing accomplished since November 2006).

Now, you try to take credit for this whole thing?

What a weasel.

Of course, considering Rush set up the fund-raising effort, not you, I think he is aware of it.

You produced a scornful letter, making the world a bit darker, and he turns the scorn into good, making the world a whole hell of a lot brighter. But take credit if you must.

They have another one of those 'perfect' Liberal polls to go with it:

Do you accept Rush Limbaugh's apology:

( ) No, All the Charity in the World, Roadside Cleanups, and Community Service Won't Save His Reputation

( ) No, He Should Just Apoloize And Be Quiet

( ) The Sale of the Document Isn't An Apolgy, it's Just Damage Control and It's an Abhorrance

(Misspellings in the original) No chance they'd allow someone to consider accepting an apology -- leaving totally aside the fact that this wasn't an apology and none ever needed to be offered --

This is the depth of the Angry Left. We have to share a country with them?

What is wrong with that tool, is that even written in english? It is rambling, takes shifting the subject to a near artform, and it somehow misses the fact that he had nothing to do with the money raised.

Koskidz reframe the issue....
Rush Apologizes for "Phony Soldier" Insult

Now, in an apparent attempt to atone for his dispicable lack of judgment, Rush has offered the sale of the actual document on a popular website. It appears as though it will sell for a lot of money, and the proceeds are said to be headed for a good cause.

74% of koskidz find the 2 million to veteran's families "abhorent"

I doubt they'd even accept an apology from him (not that he needs to make one) even if he went down on Markkkos then committed Hari Kari on live tv.

The red Peterbuilt truck and its tanker trailer were last seen heading toward I-95. Law enforcement agencies throughout the I-95 corridor have been notified.

The truck was operated by Baltimore Tank Lines.

"This is being investigated as a robbery,” Clifford said. “There is no connection to terrorism at this point."

However, officials told ABC News that ,as a precaution, the Joint Terrorism Task Forces from Washington and Baltimore are assisting local police .

136 westerner1967  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 10:22:50am

The letter Reid used to try to silence and censor Rush Limbaugh, shame him and reduce his influence, based on a misquote and smear campaign by Media Matters, has been turned around for a good cause by Rush and help from Mr. Mays of Clear Channel. Now Reid is trying to make it look like he was in on the whole thing and it was his own brilliant idea to get $2.1 Million raised for the orphans of military personnel. This is absolute hubris. Reid stepped in it, and the smear failed, backfired and has made Rush Limbaugh more popular than ever.
As for the left-wing loonies of Kos, et al, since when do they denounce anyone who think spoke against the military? I mean, they are constantly deriding and demoralizing the military. This is a cheap attempt to take the moral high ground, but as usual their moral compass is missing.
Reid is a fool, and I for one applaud Rush for what he has done and for matching the $2.1 million raised. Note that the signatories were invited to match the top bid. None have come forward to do so. Glittering jewels of cowardice.

137 FightingBack  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 10:22:53am

Reid created a document that will be a historical exhibit in the history of Free Speech advocacy in this country. Now he opines that it is a mighty fund raising gizmo? Whatever Rush Limbaugh said on air, and his actions upon receiving this correspondance from the elected Senators, are immaterial (although he and BettyC have been able to use this for an excellent cause.) It's the action of members of the Senate, sworn to uphold the Constitution, which have been documented here, for all to see. Long May She Wave.

Casey grew up poor, but married well. By the time her husband of 31 years, famously tight-fisted Maryland speculator and developer Eugene B. Casey, died in 1986, he had accumulated a fortune estimated at more than $200 million.

According to Wikipedia (link above) The San Francisco Chronicle once editorialized: "Only a politician who assumes he has a job for life could behave so badly on a semi-regular basis by spewing personalized invective that might get him punched in certain East Bay taverns ... There are a lot of "moderate democrats" and Lieberman Independents out there. It's things like the Harry Reid letter that just may turn them back from the dems. The hard-core lefties won't be affected, by truth, reality, or any kind of logic.

Afghan foreign minister in a joint press conference with his Iranian and Pakistani counterparts here on Friday rejected claims on Iran's support of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

In a press conference, Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta said, "Afghanistan Foreign Ministry has no document and evidence on delivering weapons by Iran to terrorist groups." He underlined, "Afghanistan government has never made such claims and has always expressed Iran's friendship, cooperation and loyalty." After failure of foreign forces in Afghanistan and in order to influence the revealed news concerning direct negotiation between a British military commander with a number of Taliban senior members, some circles claimed that Iran is dispatching weapons to Afghanistan.

This allegation has been rejected by the Afghan government

How about reducing the number of those fallen by ceasing and desisting from enabling criminals and protracting the war through craven, power-mongering defeatism?

Reid, Pelosi, ClintonII, et al, absolutely terrifying.

How do you prevail against those that will:

Say anything...

Do anything...

Not for the welfare of the republic, but for their own self interests...

With 60%+ of the population either with them or mindlessly disengaged, the nation is in real peril.

Reid has demonstrated the same blind fanaticism as the most committed suicide bomber; only he can do his harm over and over again.

The radical Islamists are dangerous because they hate infidels more than they love their own children. Modern Democrats are dangerous because they love their party more than they love The Republic.

Hello fellow lizards... You should know that the entire state of Nevada has pretty much been taken over by the Californian's. Or at least our two most popular regions, Las Vegas and Reno. The rest of the state is a lot more conservative and can't stand Reid. We don't have the votes to sway an election these days. Except for Harry Reid visiting our area to shake down the local Gold Mines, His son is a lobbyist and it seems it works best for the mines to hire his kid to lobby for them when mining issue come up in the Senate, Reid spends most of his time with the "important" voters in the larger cities. In Vegas he is pro-illegal immigrant because the city would shut down if they had to pay real wages to maintain all the casinos without illegal workers. It is also no coincidence that the Dems moved the Nevada election up to January. In the southern part of the state (Vegas) the weather will be just perfect for voting...not to hot and not to cold. However in the northern part of the state, where I live, a typical January could have easily 3 feet of snow on the ground and temps hovering in the single digits. Really makes for good weather to get out the vote in don't you think? He is an evil person and knows how to play the system to his best advantage and has made millions and millions off the taxpayer.

Right now Rush is summarizing Reid's speech as "Rush you Win".. going into the match challenge. Doubts any Senator will match. Has proposed that replicas be sold or auctioned for the same charity for 1k each.

If they could get the same 41 senators to sign each replica by hand....

...of course the most fun would be in publically asking them to do so. They'd have to, right? Because it's for charity.

$2.1 million matched means $4.2 million for college for the sons and daughters of fallen Marines!

Brilliant! Harry Reid & Co-Signers - all Democrats - meant that letter for evil, but Rush ("with talent on loan from God" ) turned it for good.

Watch those elections! Democrats will work the urban precincts to outvote the suburban and rural precincts. If the current Democrat-controlled Congress is the most abysmally ranked Congress for eons, what logic is there for voters to vote in MORE Democrats? As the Dems will claim?
The Dems will claim they are badly ranked because they haven't accomplished all the freedom smothering, troop withdrawing and tax-hiking they intend, so they need MORE Democrats to insure that Veto-proof majority. The states will be turning in voting state-wide that repudiates all that, but at the 11th hour, the cities will be cranking out voting tallies that tip it upside down. Then we will all be informed that WE wanted the tax hikes, that WE wanted our freedoms eliminated, that WE wanted the Fairness Doctrine to shut down radio diversity, that WE wanted the world's best health care system gutted, that WE wanted more of our money taken out of our pockets to disappear into the ether, that WE lost stomach for the war, and WE wanted to LOSE it.

A quick post from work: our office just received an unclassified email from the security staff at one of the local army bases. A trailer truck carrying ammonium nitrate was believed hijacked in Baltimore, is thought to be heading south on 95.
It comes from a reliable source but the story itself may not be reliable. Part of their job is following rumors, so it is entirely possible this is a false alarm.
I haven't looked elsewhere for the story.

Casey was director of the Farm Credit Admininstration from 1940 to 1941 and also served as an agricultural adviser to the Roosevelt White House. In the 1950s and 1960s, he built homes in the Rockville-Gaithersburg, Maryland area of suburban Washington, D.C.

Speaking about the swimmer......

In 1994 when Newt Gingrich led the Repulican Revolution, he soon after decided to have some fun.

He approached Ted Kennedy and shook his hand. Representative Gingrich did not let go of Ted Kennedy's hand to the Senators annoyance.

Rep. Gingrich, speaking directly to Senator Kennedy made the statement, "Senator, I hear you have changed your position on off shore drilling...." At this time with his other hand he handed a 8x5 Photograph to Kennedy.

It was a picture a detective the Senator's former wife had obtained of Teddy trying to bend over some poor young girl in a 20 foot Boston Whaler.

I love Newt's sense of humor and timing.

Against the troops, while telling the world Rush was the "troop hater." Against, the RECORD!

And, this letter? Rush got it right! This is a democratic party who has lost its grasp of the US Constitution.

Not signed by names without recognition. But with all the Bonkey candidates.

The monument on an Andean mountain highway near the city of Merida was unveiled Oct. 8 by Vice President Jorge Rodriguez and Cuba's ambassador to Venezuela to mark the 40th anniversary of Guevara's death in Bolivia

Stolen Tanker Truck Found In DC

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- A gasoline tanker, hijacked at gunpoint in Baltimore early this morning, has been located in Southeast Washington, right off of I-295.

9NEWS NOW Reporter Gary Reals reports District police are quickly setting up crime scene tape around the truck. The truck is parked in the 100- block of Malcolm X Avenue SE, just a quarter mile off of the interstate, and just beyond the entrance to Bolling Air Force Base.

There is no sign of the person who was driving the truck, but police are preparing to search a nearby wooded area with canines.

Reals has also learned that Fire Department Hazmat crews are on the way.

A 9NEWS NOW photographer was the first news crew on the scene. The truck driver's seatbelt was visibly hanging out of the driver's side door. The tanker truck appears to have been left here fairly recently, according to police on the scene.

What's nice is there, in the public record and all over the Internet, is the signatures of 41 Senators from the party of Jackasses, on a document that attempts to censure (and censor!) a private individual for his THOUGHTS! Not actions, but thoughts!

I had the same thought, and made a very similar comment on another site earlier. But you know, with Reid making his announcement in "support" of the auction - I mean, how stupid can he be? It's HIS NAME on this document of shame - he doesn't seem to get it, does he?

He may come off as pompous at first, but a lot of that is shtick.

Most ALL of it is shtick. He makes himself entertaining. Remember - Rush was the first nationally heard conservative talk show host. He practically invented conservative talk radio. Almost no one was listening to AM before he came on the scene. He HAD to be entertaining, he HAD to command an audience to make a dent in what was a very boring AM world.

Which before Rush consisted mainly farm reports and high school football coverage.

Ergo - a shtick was necessary to the medium.

Some people don't care for it - and that's OK. But it got him where he is, and propelled conservative talk radio to prominence.

There is a lot of "inside" humor that if you don't know the backstory "seems" over the top or outrageous. A big part of what is does is intentionally designed to give the L^3 noses a twist, they fall for it every time.

This time Rush made a small comment at a real phenomena the L^3 took off in full bay with out one stray thought in their 2 remaining brain cells. Reid et. al. took it without examinng it and took the oppourtunity to act like the chimps they are, and started flinging poo.

Don't sell it short, Cog. As Rush said, the letter was the most focused attack on an individual by the U.S. Senate he's ever seen. When you consider the other circumstances (a private U.S. citizen, the First Amendment implications, the attempt to induce the collusion of the CEO of Clear Channel, the falsity of the premises), it's more significant than just the publicity event that it also is.

I first listened to Rush in the early 90's. I agreed with most of what he said, but found him to be a little arrogant. I remember telling my dad about him, and saying he was too one-sided. I hadn't yet realized just how one-sided the MSM were. After listening to him for a few weeks, I realized the "arrogance" was part of his act. I don't get to listen to Rush too frequently anymore, but my dad is a regular listener. I check his website quite often, though. Rush has singlehandedly done more for the troops with this auction than the entire Democrat party has done in the past 6 years.

Put some ice on it and you'll feel better.

your right...I'm becoming zealous and folks are calling me a troll!...hahaha...whats your take?...should repub Senators get in on this?...congress?...the point being is Rush is the only media we've got that people hear...well practically...can he push this over the top?...do you think he wants to?...just askin

Excellent idea! Hopefully the republican senators will pool another $2.1M as their match. No real hurry, the Dimocrats will never think of it.

right...real generosity! compassion!

491 Dave the.....  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 11:31:07am

Heh, Rush is replaying the segment of Harry Reid's comments today (about Rush). I didn't really catch it the first time, but what Reid is saying (or at least implying) is that the Democratic Senators and Clear Channel are partnering on the letter auction. "We didn't think we'd raise this much".

Like the Dems planned this all along. Nice try.

For those who don't listen to Rush, give him a listen. He may come off as pompous at first, but a lot of that is shtick.

The guy in genuinely funny.

BTW, before this auction, he'd already raised nearly $30 for the MCLEF and has donated millions himself to countless charities.

I doubt those on the left who denigrate him have ever given a nickel to charity.

Rush says listen for six weeks, the pompousness is act a lot of it is self depricating, it also feeds the L^3.

The didn't factor in the direction of the wind, now the Senate sticks of monkey poo.

On the bright side, this has totally exposed Hillary Clinton's Media Matters for the fraud it is. Not too many media outlets are taking their calls any longer.

They tried smearing him again earlier this week and got nowhere fast.

re: #272 lawhawk

OT:

Environmentalists v. Environmentalists.

The issue: Cape Wind (aka Teddy Kennedy's eyesore at the beach)

The participants: environmentalists on both sides claiming that the project is good or bad for everyone involved.

The ruling: No Cape Wind permits for burying transmission cables in state waters because of lack of information.

The winner: Teddy K (D-Chivas/NIMBY), who gets to continue having open water for his yachts.

The losers: anyone who was pushing for clean alternative energy.

I've donated to and support Cape Winds. The disingenuous campaign against then is nauseating.

I'm no environmental wacko, either, but had this been implemented, the cost of energy on the Cape would have been greatly reduced. The opponents made it sound like you could see them from the beach. They'd be so far offshore in Nantucket Sound it would take an hour by boat to get close to them.

As a resident of Cape Code and taxpayer I am against Cape Wind. It seems to have escaped notice the the wind farm would have required huge subsidies. I was against it on purely capitalist lines. The need for redundant power supply lines pushed the break even date beyond any reasonable length of time. Bill Koch wrote a nice editorial on it in the WSJ several years ago. I am for alternative energy but MY taxes are not a renewable resource. As a one time commercial fisherman of that area the location and aesthetics were not ideal but that was not my major issue. Asshat Ted could have come off as the voice of reason except that the flawed logic of the economics for CapeWind would have also undone the rest of his programs.

It's
a really cool thing, the letter, eBay, all that -- but you realize
that's it, right? It's not the end-all of political wrangling.

Don't
sell it short, Cog. As Rush said, the letter was the most focused
attack on an individual by the U.S. Senate he's ever seen. When you
consider the other circumstances (a private U.S. citizen, the First
Amendment implications, the attempt to induce the collusion of the CEO
of Clear Channel, the falsity of the premises), it's more significant
than just the publicity event that it also is.

BINGO!

And, it has, now, the powers of standing out in a crowded field.

If you need to have an enemy, on the other side of the divide, you're lucky when it's a moron. Harry Reid. Some religion: His is missing the middle M.

And, ya know what? Rush is thrilled! Because the smell of this victory is delicious.

510 HBob  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 11:36:44am

I like how Reid asked those with the means to consider bidding on the letter to raise money for a worthwhile cause. He's been asked to match the amount ( as Rush did ) and he never mentions that and instead calls on others to pay the tab! Can you imagine going to dinner with this sack of sh*t? "Oh, I left my wallet in the car." And the next sound you'd hear would be his tires screeching out of the parking lot.

Again I ask, hey Nevada, WTF?

I first listened to Rush in the early 90's. I agreed with most of what he said, but found him to be a little arrogant. I remember telling my dad about him, and saying he was too one-sided. I hadn't yet realized just how one-sided the MSM were. After listening to him for a few weeks, I realized the "arrogance" was part of his act. I don't get to listen to Rush too frequently anymore, but my dad is a regular listener. I check his website quite often, though. Rush has singlehandedly done more for the troops with this auction than the entire Democrat party has done in the past 6 years.

Everyone else was predicting disastrous death in the desert yet this “hater” of the military was saying our military was the best on the planet and it would be no contest. As a Marine I consider the man the military’s best defender. You watch: Hillary will match the funds and film a joke Sopranos
episode about it. She'll spin it as a big stunt and cackle it away.

NOPE.

I bet, NOT.

As a matter of fact, given that the party insiders (both parties), are polling the public like crazy;

Given that Bill Clinton was famous for testing things through "groups" ... I doubt very much that the inner circle (at least), is unaware of what can happen, ahead.

Here's a clue.

Since no one can read the future, anyway. Hillary will not sit in a position to be like McGovern! If this was the anticipated train wreck? John Kerry can run, again.

Politics is a TEAM sport. And, there would be a lot of asses left out in the cold, if the current "majority" in congress shut off all abilities to reach the MAINSTREAM.

Hillary's only hope? That the republicans make a mistake. Traveling to their own base.

Which is exactly the current situation, where the Bonkeys went too far left.

Anyhoo; I give Hillary only a 50% chance of "going for broke." Why would she do that? She's got her senate seat, now, for life.

No. Her senate seat is not a backup position for Guiliani.

Politics sucks, and politicians are hated, with the ferocity the Bonkeys tried to turn on the military.

They may a few mistakes.

Today, the famous Grey Lady is dying.

Turning the NY Times into a failed business model that will be studied, ahead, in business schools.

Failure, like fire, also gets people running out of the building. No. Not orderly.

But Rush has found something very positive.

HA! I'd bet even the old Kleagle is sorry he signed on.

Okay. If you were advising Harry, would you recommend a follow up letter?

Maybe, only George Soros, calling in, in desperation ... is doing the recommending?

But that's Harry's choice. Like a gambler. (In Vegas.) Does he bet even more? Another race? Another number? Same lousy track.

I'm not a gypsy. I don't tell fortunes. Or predict the future. That's a fool's game.

Reid is a very sick man. This is not even a political thing ("spin" or the usual "they're all liars" kinds thing). I'm not a Psychiatrist/Psychologist but, like when asked to define pornography, Justice - whats-his-name (sorry)? answered in part "...I know it when I see it", there are things so immediately apparent a lay person can make a diagnosis. If you witnessed someone torture a puppy you wouldn't need a diploma on your wall...this is sick. He just
said that he and Clear Channels' Mark Mays planned this but had no idea how well it would turn out. Not much different than if Mark Furman put O.J.'s bloody gloves up for auction to raise money for battered woman's shelters and O.J. got his mug on T.V. talking about how he and Mark never could have predicted how successful the auction would be when they (OJ & Mark) first conceived the idea ! He is as sick as O.J., He just hasn't pulled off the ultimate crime - yet. With a person without a conscience anything is possible. His friends and family, if they didn't know already, better be prepared.
I'm sure jaws dropped on both sides of the aisle today.

So, if you think you were misconstrued, help us all out and restate so we catch your drift. I've had to rephrase many a posting of my own on many occasions to get my point out, so it happens. Fair enough?

Note how the Libs and Dems are always talking about how stingy Americans are? How we NEVER contribute a dime to charity? That's because they don't give a dime. Remember the Clintons itemizing their UNDERWEAR when they gave it to Goodwill?

I give away tons of clothes and never take a tax deduction yet these elitists don't give away a dime unless they can receive the adulation they believe they deserve.

It's like the Pharisees the in the Bible having to blow the trumpet before they drop a penny into the offering or other analogies of hypocrisy running rampant.

Dingy harry's whining speech today, beseeching other bids for the letter struck me as veiled BEGGING for one of his lefty pals to buy the letter so that any future political damage from public access to it could be contained.

This thing is such a dagger to the heart of liberal hypocrisy and Harry's trembling weak voice just telegraphs his worst fears being realized.

The 'swimmer' is code for Mass. Sen Ted Kennedy who abandoned a young girl to die in his Oldsmobile when he drove it off a bridge into shallow water.

and let her lay there in the water, still alive, while he went off as if it never happened. And then lied about it. And then was anointed Senator from Massachusetts for life.

He went home went to bed and called it in the next morning. Where I come from leaving the scene of a fatal accident, not reporting it is a FELONY!

But it wasn't a fatal accident at the time he ran away (loophole for an a-hole).

I first listened to Rush in the early 90's. I agreed with most of what he said, but found him to be a little arrogant. I remember telling my dad about him, and saying he was too one-sided. I hadn't yet realized just how one-sided the MSM were.

The "schtick" is in large part a parody of the "and that's the way it is..." legacy media anchorman. Especially when Rush says he'll not only tell you about the news of the day, but tell you what to think about it. Rush is making the pomposity and bias of the legacy media overt.

If you remember the urbane Canadian dropout Peter Jennings, or Gunga Dan Rather, or The "Most Trusted Man In America" Uncle Walter, etc. that's the character Rush is invoking when he turns up the arrogant schtick.

re: #541 Geepers

You can hear Harry on the campaign trail already:

And I personally helped raise over 4 million dollars to help the children of fallen heroes.

GREAT!

And, I bet Rush would endorse this, too!

This letter to Harry Reid, is similar, in terms of publicity, as Monica Lewinsky is to Bubba.

I really do hope Reid keeps taking credit!

Now, if Congress wanted to "examine" itself; it could call for hearings. As the signers are definitely NOT aware of the US Constitution.

What really lives on is that unawareness.

Need help? Rush is a PRIVATE CITIZEN!

Heck, I'm hoping Harry Reid turns this into a multi-volume set; and writes another.

Let's help him out:

"Dear Rush,

You didn't receive a letter from me, expressing my thoughts. And, you seem to own the ass of the man I wrote to. Otherwise, why would you, as a mere underling, even get this mail? Did you retrieve it from Clear Channel's CEO's garbage? Or did you have Drudge do it for you?" Signed: Harry Reid. And, his gang of 41 who couldn't shoot straight.

Go ahead. Harry. Do another! Take another bite of the apple.

Think of the money! Think of what this could bring in? You could solve the "national debt crisis looming for social security."

Oy/sarcasm.

RECALL!

What kind of polls are they running, anyway? They're not polls, they're opinion statements with no opposing viewpoints. How about they organize a poll like this:

Poll

Do you approve of Rush's ebay auction?

_No. I don't care what he does, he's a fucking Reich-wing RethugliKKKan fascist pig and I want to hang him from the rafters and mob-murder anybody who listens to him. Jesus himself could tell me to forgive Rush, and I'd just push Jesus out of the way so I could get closer to Rush so I could stab him in his pill-guzzling fat red neck with my pen. Rush should be silenced with the Fairness Doctrine until we have enough people on our side to put non-leftists in camps and work them to death and then turn their bodies into environmentally friendly fertilizer for organic foods grown using native people's methods.

_No. It's a typically crass GOP-orchestrated distraction from his obvious smear against REAL patriotic americans who are exercising the highest form of patriotism (and risking spending the rest of their lives in Gitmo) by totally not liking war in public.

_Yes. Rush is a reich-wing hate-speech spewing GOP brownshirt with a microphone, but raising money for kids of people dumb enough to join the military and get killed in an illegal war, so they can go to liberal arts colleges and vote Democrat and not be dumb anymore, is a good thing.

_Yes. Rush didn't actually say what we think he did. Harry Reid and co-signers are America-hating chumps and/or opportunists trying to surf our poll numbers to victory, we're all a bunch of sheep-like, hysterical ninnies and tools who have no idea what we're talking about, and frankly, I'm about ready to quit this place and go hang out with people who are actually sane, even if they are from Red States.

Charles wrote:

Hypocrisy so extreme it warps time and space.

Reid, Pelosi, Hillary, Kerry, Obama and the other 30+ Senators who signed this document have been living in an alternate reality for quite a while now. To them, this warpage is normal. It is only those of us still on Planet Earth who see any abnormality. From their point of view: WE are the ones living in the warpage.

If you want to have a fun discussion with a Democrat, ask him/her/it if the sky is blue or the sea is green. I have had this discussion with any number of them, and they invariably say something like: the sky is blue IF I SAY IT IS. To them, reality is what they deem it to be: highly subjective and always a matter of personal preference.

Those of us who live in the real world agree that the sky is, nominally, blue whether or not we ever experience its blueness. To us, reality is something that we subject ourselves to and not, like the LLL subject to our preferences.

Harry Reid does not believe he is a hypocrite. He has redefined the term and is quite comfortable saying that conservatives are. Since verbiage is subject to the same subjectivity as is reality itself, it really is pointless to tell them that they are hypocrites.

FWIW: "hypcrocrite" comes from 2 Greek words: hypo (or hupo) meaning "under or within"; a "hypodermic" is something that functions "under the derma, or skin". "Krites" is the Greek word for "mask"; what an ancient actor wore on stage. So "hypocrite" really means "under or within the mask". To call a person a "hypocrite" is to call them an "actor".

An actor is someone whose reality is different from their appearance. This is why actors (and those in the media subculture in general) are such hypocrites: it really describes their professional lives and extends to their personal and political lives.

Therefore, calling Harry Reid or any political hypocrite, a hypocrite, is just a waste of time and bandwidth. We see under their mask(s), but they don't. They do not believe they even have a mask...that they are actors. Their private lives are the same as their public lives: they are just acting on a smaller stage.

They have no ability to judge themselves by objective, external criteria. They have personalized even the criteria.

The best we Americans can do is vote the bastards out of office, and get people in office who have some experience with reality.

How did Ron Paul not win that poll?

618 Cain  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:10:46pm

This is akin to Neville Chamberlain taking credit for the defeat of Nazi Germany.

"I'm proud to have been such an inspiration and an integral part of the events that led to the destruction of Adolph Hitler and his dark vision". - Neville Chamberlain

He probably could have scored a Nobel Peace Prize if he'd only had the stones to try that move.

619 Rancher  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:14:43pm

Reid said he could have gotten every Dem Senator to sign the letter. Therefore I just sent this E-Mail to my Senator Bingaman.

Sir, today, October 19th , Harry Reid said on the Senate Floor that if not for time constraints he could have had every Democrat Senator sign the letter that he sent to Clear Channel asking for censure of Rush Limbaugh. Rather than have Senator Reid speak for you I would ask if you directly: If asked, would you have signed the letter?

I kept it neutral and respectful, for instance I didn’t also ask how you Bing a man so well that your offspring are forever tagged with the name. Anyway it will be interesting to see which way he jumps on this issue.

Did anyone say that Harry Reid is a prick of the highest order? Well consider it either said or seconded. Thank you.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom how anyone can seriously be a democrat any more. You have dicks of Olympic proportion representing them - Pelosi, Clintons, Kennedys, Reid, Durbin, Murtha, Kerry, Gore, etc. These are people I wouldn't trust with my ice cream cone, forget about my country, and they are blindly followed even though they continuously show that they have no courage, no morals, no convictions, no class, and no decency. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder. I will never be convinced otherwise.

Charles, you did a fantastic job of bringing this whole issue to the lizardoid masses. I know that el cubos want to paint you as a GOP mouthpiece, and the fact that you are not and still show that what Reid did was heinously disgusting and what Rush did was 50 flavors of awesome shows that you are truly above the partisan retardation that infects the nutroots. I appreciate this blog more than you know and I have sent links to your site hundreds if not thousands of times by email. Thank you for all that you do.

And the Koslings have their own take on it as well!

626 Carol Herman  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:27:57pm

Good! Harry Reid doesn't get it. If he's bragging ALL democrats would have signed this "censure" letter; but he was under time constraints ...

How come he just doesn't take the time to do it, again?

He can announce NOW. We'll wait.

Even better if the signatures are then notarized.

Win-win.

He can also bypass Rush's boss at Clear Channel. Send it direct. Then, ask for a cut.

"Dear Rush"

Here are the missing signatures; now that I've had the time (of day), to collect same. I don't want to leave the impression that only 41 of us are nuts. I'm a majority leader, and dammit, I'll prove it to ya! Harry (lost his mind) Reid.

What's wrong with the senators? Larry Craig's "wide stance" looks so minor when compared to the way Reid just wipes himself, with the US Constitution.

There ought'a be a law!

Even better! they ought'a be an investigation.

So, in a PS; Harry could add ... that this letter informs Rush he's expected to come and testify.

Great for ratings!

Heck, even better than President Gerald Ford's proclivity to fall down. And, walk into the furniture.

627 maximoso  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:36:11pm

WOW - a whopping 64 votes. Looks like the Daily Ko's membership is really growing to massive proportions. No wonder the democrats are so scared of the Ko's.

Looks like the Wizzard's curtain has been pulled back and George Soros is back there pushing buttons and levers.

629 KayMichelle  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:43:34pm

You're kidding! That's rich!

I also noticed there were no choices for 'yes'.

630 azul93gt  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:44:12pm

I'll take take Harry Reid's statement as an apology to Rush and the American people. Since the American people (in the majority) have class we'll accept his apology.

631 Carol Herman  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 1:46:36pm

Gosh, if there was real leadership among the republicans; they'd keep this ball in play!

They'd see to it that a letter "from the members" went out; explaining to Rush why the Clear Channel "censure letter" was such a clear violation of the US Constitution.

Hey, if Newt Gingrich had brains ... he'd use his own Rolodex; and get a letter like that going. Not just signed by today's current crop of lackluster members in congress ... But just about a whole category ... including George Allen. Who got bounced out by James Webb.

DUELING LETTERS!

You think I'm kidding?

You think only hollywood makes money with sequels? And, then bombs on their newer creative stuff?

HELLO.

Time for more mail.

We could even invent a jingle.

And, it would play throughout the presidential nomination circus.

It would show that those assholes in congress "could get serious."

Oh, most prominently, I'd expect Larry Craig to sign!

The letter could start out:

It is our "intent" ...

Thomas Paine did wonders with pamphlets. This could be the start of something big?

Alas, congress is full of gas bags, and idiots. Even when they have nothing to lose, they choose to lose.

And, that's why George Soros didn't enter the contest. Where he could throw away more money; but at least get the letter OUT of circulation! How? By having it Copyrighted. And, then? Not letting it out of his hands.

Who knows? Maybe, in the beginning? There were some democraps trying to bid. But the bidding got out of hand!

I don't think that's correct. The reading of the letter from the Senate floor places it in the Congressional Record. That may make it "accessible" under the FOIA, but that has nothing at all to do with copyright-vs-public domain.

I get a chuckle everytime Rush uses that "Talent on loan from God" line knowing that libz are probably bursting a blood vessel. It's actually a statement of humility. Everyone's talent whatever that talent may be is on loan from God. In fact Rush is giving the glory to God not himself like your secular humanist libz tend to do.

re: #641 Rancher

Was the letter read on the senate floor? If so it's now in the public domain IMO.

Yes. Harry Reid made it official, and the letter is in the Congressional Record. Making it more valuable, actually.

Again, the number of copies doesn't explain the price tag on the original.

Heck, you can buy a copy of Michaelangelo's David. The original is PRICELESS.

And, if there are no follow up letters? Then, this one grows in value.

IF Reid decides to prove he could have gotten every single democrap to sign, though? But had lacked the time. Which he now has more of, on his hands?

A sequel will also be worth money.

By the way, I noticed that Jim Webb signed this letter.

And, I know he beat out George Allen by a very small percentage of votes. He also ran as a "blue dog." True, he gets his seat for six years. But this letter? What happens if it gets used by opponents?

There's so many ways this letter has "success" written all over it. First, because it did not accomplish what the 41 democraps set out to do.

And, yes. Rush Limbaugh was correct. The senators were trying to bully Limbaugh; a private citizen.

Seems the Bonkeys have been stampeded back on so many of their attempts. I mean, where's plame, now? beauchamp? What happens when you're sent out on missions by the democraps, and you fail?

While Rush also boosts his ratings sky high! As a matter of fact, this became headline stuff. Even Drudge gave the final bid's winnah a spot on top of his headlines.

In media, getting audience counts.

A citizen spoke on the radio. Senators, sworn to uphold the Constitution, and using the paper (and the authority) provided to them by their positions, wrote his boss a letter and asked for a punitive response to his speech. This is a violation of the Bill of Rights.

Trust me on this. The letter has value! The "public domain" ... where you can try and duplicate this on nice stationary. And, with colored ink. You could try.

You'd, of course, get more arguments, ahead. Since Harry Reid can claim he's the "composer." Those who signed can claim their signatures are a percentage of the value.

But the PUBLICITY? PRICELESS.

Owning the original? Well, if Betty wants to hang it her her wall, she'll need sophisticated anti-burglary tools. (Which can be done for art work.) She can also "lend" it out to museums. (Not sure. But this might be considered tax deductible?

And, Betty was not the only one who was bidding.

In other words? You catch a spectacular home run ball at a baseball game that people are watching ... and that ball is no longer "just worth what a used ball is worth."

No. I don't set prices.

But this letter is very productive. And, not only Betty Casey, but Rush Limbaugh, himself, can spare the millions ... for charity.

I even think if someone comes up with a "magnetic door panel" for cars; there would be buyers. One letter, spells out the Bonkey party, pointing, too, to all its troubles.

To say nothing about what lurks down the line. When some of these turkeys come back for re-election.

Heck, in 2008, the term "blue dog" may be as dead as "media matters."

Where hillary set up Brooks with MILLIONS. And, people were hired to do nothing but check out everything Rush was saying ... In order to clobber him.

Instead? Smells like a work accident, to me.

Talking about "public domain" ... how come John Kerry's discharge papers aren't? He said he'd give them over to the public. I guess he shares Larry Craig's idea of "intent?"

Oh, and once spilled, milk doesn't go back into the bottle, either. [Peeing it out, doesn't count.]

Mark Steyn says:

....Harry Reid's Rush-and-I-don't-agree-on-much-but letter makes a small man look even more shriveled. Rush is matching the highest bid for the Reid/Kennedy/Dodd/etc letter, so right now he'll be writing a personal check for somewhere north of two million bucks. He has invited the Senate smearers also to match the highest bid. Like so many commissars from the people's party, Harry Reid is a wealthy man. So are Ted Kennedy and most of the other 41 Democratic Senators who signed the letter. If they won't match it individually, why can't they pony up 50 grand per?

Well, yes, I know, Senator Reid is the guy who tips his doorman at the Ritz-Carlton with campaign contributions...

663 FrogMarch  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 4:29:20pm

Truly - someone should make a campaign ad out of this entire saga.
Harry Reid would be toast. Any person in Nevada with two working brain cells would understand Harry is a coward and a liar.

Captain Ed nails it:

So now Harry wants everyone to think that he participated in the fund-raising effort deliberately. He wants to take credit for over $4 million in donations that came from two people -- the bidder, and the man Reid intended to smear and intimidate. That's not just laughable, it's pathetic.

Let's see Reid put his money where his mouth is. Where's Reid's $2.1 million? He could sell off a few of the Nevada properties that have enriched him while he manipulates their value through legislation

664 bill-tb  Fri, Oct 19, 2007 4:31:56pm

OMG, lady, I didn't need another dissertation. My reference to "public domain" was simply and only in direct relation to copyright law (as when a specific copyright expires). Look it up.

I never said the letter did not have value! And, trust ME on this: I can already duplicate my copy of the original... on nice stationary (your sp) stationery... in color.

I also never argued ownership of the original... OR where Betty wants to hang it (or loan it). She owns it, and she can do whatever she pleases with it! In fact, I hope she does loan it ... to museums... to libraries... etc.

Your "NO. I don't set prices." has me baffled. I don't remember asking.

And lastly, what the hell does Kerry's discharge papers, or Larry Craig, or even "spilled milk" have to do with any of this ? ? ?

hey, little mikey! thanks, but no thanks. go over to the other side where you belong with the rest of the emotional trainwrecks on the left. you've become a pathetic old drama queen with a foo foo dog in your lap lashing out in petty spite.

i had outrage and empathy in response to the twisting of your words and unjust treatment from the s.f. supervisors. but, now, after your treatment of rush and coulter, i feel you got what you deserve. not for what you said, but for lack of character, blatant hypocrisy, and just plaiin ego-driven meanness.

you're a chump and a punk and i believe that i'm not the only one of your former admirers who are beginning to recognize you as such.

re: #1 Honorary Yooper

The Kos Kids agree: Harry Reid will never apologize to Rush or to the American people.

I have just received an anonymous e-mail with a link to a site, I Call BS, that purports to have a secret recording of Harry Reid's Secretary from this morning. You can listen to the mp3 and judge for yourself. It seems authentic to me.

Some one should tell Rush.
