Palestinian 'Security' Forces Plotted to Kill Olmert

Sun, Oct 21, 2007 at 7:54:58 am PDT

In August, Ehud Olmert’s partners in peace plotted to murder him.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that Israel would “not look the other way” on a plot by a terrorist cell from PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah faction to attack his convoy earlier this year in the West Bank city of Jericho.

However, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayad on Sunday said Olmert was never seriously threatened by an assassination plot by Palestinian militants and promised to do his best to rein in West Bank gunmen.

“There was nothing imminently dangerous,” Fayad said as he arrived for a meeting in Jerusalem with Israeli officials. “We are trying the very best we can to bring law and order to the cities, villages and areas that are under our control.”

Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin told cabinet members Sunday that the Fatah cell had planned to carry out the attack as the convoy entered the West Bank city on August 6, en route to the prime minister’s meeting with Abbas.

Israeli security sources said the cell planned to fire on the convoy, and had made preliminary preparations for the attack, which primarily included intelligence gathering.

According to the sources, the terrorists were members of the PA security forces, and therefore knew the convoy’s route as well as security arrangements.

I’m sure all these high-spirited hijinx will stop as soon as they have their own well-deserved state!

Assassination plots make Olmert a bit uncomfortable, but apparently not so uncomfortable that he doesn’t want to give the Palestinians a state, Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount.

The Palestinian Authority’s conduct towards the suspects in the plot to assassinate him is “a source of discomfort,” Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday before he left Israel for France.

(IsraelNN.com) A top North Korean official was in Damascus Sunday for talks with Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Utri, according to the AFP news agency.

The North Korean Parliament Speaker told reporters following the meeting that the two countries were working on developing a closer relationship. He added that North Korea supports Syria’s “just efforts” to take the Golan Heights from Israel.

Foreign media reported last month that a September 6 Israel Air Force attack on a site in an open area in northeastern Syria targeted a North Korean-made nuclear facility. Syria first denied the existence of the facility, then admitted it existed and was destroyed, and then over this weekend denied its admission. The facility was destroyed. Syria has begun to dismantle the ruins and wipe out any evidence of the facility's existence

Not only do the Jew hating, terror loving Palestinians want him gone-but so do all righteous Torah following Israelis. Perhaps Olmert should consider a nice little shanty in Palm Beach-where he won't be responsible for the slaughter of millions of his own citizens. When he's there, he can make a trip to Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House. : )

NAPLES (Reuters) - Pope Benedict told religious leaders, including Christians, Jews and Muslims, on Sunday that faiths must work together to stamp out religiously motivated hatred which uses God as an excuse for violence.

The Pope's comments came just minutes before the Vatican announced two priests kidnapped in Iraq had been freed by their captors, in a move a Vatican spokesman said lifted hopes for that country.

Faced with a world lacerated by conflict, where violence is still justified in the name of God, it is important to reiterate that religions must never become a vehicle of hatred," the Pontiff said

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ali Babacan arrived unexpectedly in Jiddah on Sunday - the third Arab country he has visited since the Turkish parliament authorized the government to send troops into northern Iraq to hunt down Kurdish rebels.

Babacan was met by his Saudi counterpart, Prince Saud, the official news agency, SPA, reported. The agency did not provide more details. Babacan has already visited Lebanon and Egypt, a top US ally in the Arab world.

During his previous stops, Babacan said his country was drawing up a plan to send troops into northern Iraq to fight Kurdish guerrilla groups after long attempting to work with the US and Iraqi governments to resolve the problems of Kurdish guerrillas who use northern Iraq as a rear base to attack Turkish territory.

This weekend we had reports out of the Jerusalem that Fatah gunmen released from Israeli jails tried to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Olmert during an August meeting with PA President Mahmoud Abbas in Jericho. Further, that Israeli MK’s suggest that Israel’s participation in the up-coming Annapolis peace conference be stopped. I mean if PA President Abbas can’t even control his own Fatah terrorists, what’s the use of trying to see if a ‘peace deal’ can be had, right?

So why is it exactly that President Bush and Secretary of State Condi Rice are “so optimistic about a Middle East peace accord” between Israel and the Palestinians-something the Saudis and the left in the US are pushing for at the upcoming Annapolis conference? Perhaps the award of a glittering Nobel Peace prize?

Dream on. Never happen.

Note what constitutes the "source of discomfort" for Olmert: once Israeli security services had alerted the PA about the plot just ahead of the August 6th Jericho meeting, the PA arrested the plotters but then not long after let them walk.

According to Debka, the IDF had to go back into Judea/Samaria and track down a couple of the at-large plotters. Now it appears that the PA is back-tracking and making a big show of arresting the other plotters not yet nabbed/liquidated by the IDF. And the PA is proclaiming that they'll be subject to a military trial.

Olmert can voice "discomfort" at this chain of abominations, but the fact is that his boss is Condi Rice, and she has yet to bring Abbas & Co. to account for the Autumn 2003 IED slaughter of 3 US security personnel accompanying a State convoy in Gaza. Remember that one? The attack on a *Fulbright* fellowship evaluation team, of all things? Olmert wouldn't dream of showing up Condi in his own parallel situation...

As it is, Olmert needs to keep the whole charade going and prop up Abbas because the fiction of Abbas as negotiating partner keeps Olmert, for the time being, from being jailed for massive corruption.

British special forces have carried out several operations inside Iran in recent months in an attempt to prevent the Revolutionary Guard's Al-Quds force from shipping weapons to Iraq, the Sunday Times reported.
The British and Australian SAS forces are reportedly working with American special forces to patrol the border to prevent weapons - including surface-to-air missiles and parts for IEDs (improvised explosive devices) - from reaching the hands of Iraqi insurgents.

According to the article, the SAS have engaged in at least six "intense firefights" with both Iranian and Iraqi Shi'ite arms smugglers. The fighting has reportedly taken place on both sides of the Iran-Iraq border, and Iran has fired mortar shells across the border

Olmert is blowing nothing but hot air, while the terrorists do nothing but attempt to blow Israeli stuff up.

The case of the Holy Land Foundation is like one of these issues where fear of the word Terrorism has blocked common sense, since our nation is going through a panic attack after 9/11 and most of us Americans have been experiencing the post-traumatic-stress syndrome through war casualties.

It has become very difficult to save our public from experiencing a brief psychotic reaction when they hear the word Muslim, since this word has been associated with terrorists after 9/11, and we feel so threatened from Islam/Muslims that we have lost the ability of thinking clearly. How many times do we get to hear the religion of person involved in Oklahoma bombing, Columbine shooting, Virginia tech shooting, or other major terrorist events in the history of US?

People who commit these crimes are psychopaths, and we never hear what faith they practiced or what religion they had. I wonder why do we always get to find out the religion of psychopaths who happened to be so called Muslims?

Does it sound like classical conditioning? It sure does. When we hear "terrorism" we think of Muslims right away, since all other psychopaths are not labeled as terrorists. I hope that now you would agree with me that we humans can be biased in saving our interests and using prejudice to overcome our insecurities and shortcomings.

Just because Holy Land Foundation is a Muslim charitable organization that was run by God-fearing Muslim men, it does not deserve to be ceased. Does it make any sense to destroy a Muslim Charitable foundation and prosecute the five main members who put so much effort to support orphans and widows and worked so hard to save lives in the region where death is certain than having a meal to survive?

---

A former U.S. consul-general in Jerusalem, Edward Abingdon, when asked if he found the information Israel provided reliable, answered with a straightforward “No.” He added, “I feel the Israelis have an agenda ... they provide selective information to try to influence US thinking.”

Indeed, the trial against the HLF is just one example of how Israelis are the ones persecuting Muslim organisations in America. As made clear in the above-quoted sentence, the translation was made “from Arabic to Hebrew to English.” The Zionists have the upper hand, and going to the bottom with cases like this is close to impossible. They provide the evidence, and not much can be done to prove them wrong. The veracity in the accusations made by propaganda institutes of SITE’s ilk should be strongly questioned. As for the threats against the Swedish cartoonist, editor and the 100 Swedish companies, all we can know for sure is that no attack has yet taken place.

I don't play many games anymore, I'm always disappointed. They're become like movies; lots of spectacular effects to make to lack of creativity. Portals is the best game I've played in years. very funny and imaginative and simple.
Let's hope game developers take notice.

Best $20 I've spent in a long time. I agree with you, just as with the movie industry, game developers have gone for all flash and bang with no substance.

But I've noticed a disturbance in the force. In my resent Game Informers magazine for Nov 2007, on page 52 there was an article splashed with iconic socialist imagery expressing the rise and need for social conscience gaming. I fired off a letter stating to GI the very real danger of propaganda rather than dialog reaching young minds over very complex issues. Video games can prove one of the more powerful forms of propaganda as they're more interactive and engaging than other forms of media.
For example, at the bottom of page 53 of the magazine under "Games with a Message" a game called Peacemaker where the player tries to broker peace in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. [Link: www.peacemakergame.com...]
I never played the game so I'm unsure how close they got it to reality rather than the ideal.

Muslim Leader Calls for Sharia in Israel

(IsraelNN.com) Sheikh Kamal Khatib, the second in command to Islamic Movement head Sheikh Ra’ed Salah, said over the weekend that he hopes to see Muslim law (Sharia) in Israel. In an interview with an Israeli Arabic newspaper, Khatib explained that Israel would soon be replaced by an Arab state run by Muslim law as part of a greater Islamic Caliphate. “We are on the threshold of a new stage,” he said, “The future belongs to Islam and the Muslims.”

Khatib, who holds Israeli citizenship, called on Israeli Muslims to avoid cooperation with Israeli officials and to form alternate Muslim organizations to take over the government’s role. He criticized Muslim Members of Knesset, and called on them to quit.

Well, what happens when a head of state gets killed?

In Israel, when Yitzhak Rabin's killer was caught with the gun in his hands, he didn't face the death penalty.

He was brought a wife in prison. Since he wasn't going out to date; this was arranged by a rabbi. Today, the woman is pregnant. Due in a few weeks. And, there's a movement in Israel to see that Amir "has been punished, enough." So, he should be set free. Close to happening?

While I'm sure Jonathan Pollard does not get out of an American jail, because James Baker holds that key. And, it's not offered.

It's probably a bigger question IF the Palestinians can actually reach their target? It's not for want of trying. They'd love to take Israel's Knesset members down. Willy nilly.

That this goon had to be re-arrested demonstrates that Olmert has political clout. Or what I call "diplomatic-pants-dancing" skills. Does it make a difference if a ring leader is jailed? Yeah. Is there a revolving door in front of the jail cell? Well, isn't that a possibility.

Meanwhile, since Olmert's been aware of this, don't you think there are plans on the shelf for what to do in the case of this tragedy, or one like it? No. I don't mean a fancy funeral. I mean "something else."

By the way, Bhutto, in Pakistan was targeted. WITH INSIDER INFORMATION. WHO else would be privy to her route?

What the "explosives experts" didn't realize was that they could kill more than one hundred people; and all the explosion would do, would be to knock out the "double windows" on her special "ferry."

She's mad as hell now, too! And, she's accused the muslim crazies inside of Musharaff's government.

If they brought her back to Pakistan to kill her, they just failed.

When events get this dark, there are lot of people, in-country, who do deep thinking. They don't go about "business as usual." Thinking a few well placed media bombs can change the stink.

And, the "new method" of winning, is the same as the old method. Kill your opponent. And, then use your government contacts so that the killer gets away. Or serves little time.

On the other hand? A lot of people in europe are "moving right."

Well, in the 1800's when our gates really opened, a lot of european people, moved here.

europe's still a fancy club, run by elite insiders.

What about US? Well? People are paying attention!

Bush stepped on this one.

In other words, all the celebrating that could have been done; has been canceled.

The news is that Bush is "baaack" to putting a palestinian state in place "before he leaves office."

Authentic? The letter starting this ball rolling, was written by Bush, to the king in saudi arabia, in June of 2001. BEFORE 9/11. CRAIG UNGER. Go to Amazon and look it up: HOUSE OF BUSH/HOUSE OF SAUD [The secret relationship between the world's two most powerful dynasties.] You won't be able to put this down.

You might even see 9/11, as hosted by the Saud's, as a push on Bush to take Saddam's head off.

Saddam's head is now OFF. Hopefully, though, there are spectacular unexpected consequences falling into place. But I don't know.

129 Carol Herman  Sun, Oct 21, 2007 10:49:06am

Bush's handwritten letter to the saud king, was written in AUGUST 2001. My bad. Above I typed June. Still before 9/11.

130 Ivan Sirko  Sun, Oct 21, 2007 11:03:48am

Why on earth would the palis want to kill Olmert,he has done just about everything he can to weaken and bring about the destruction of ISRAEL possible .Could it be that they believe that his replacement would be even more of a spineless appeaser with his head even further up his fourth point of contact than Olmert has his head. I am not sure that is possible.

No doubt it would be advantageous for them to have Olmert in office as long as possible. But what can you expect from people that believe Mohamed was a prophet of GOD and that paradise is a whore house.Rational thought is not the mussies strong suite .But of course if they were rational they would have dumped their phony moon god allah and his fraud of a prophet centuries ago.

131 Carol Herman  Sun, Oct 21, 2007 11:15:54am

Charles, Jerusalem is not up for grabs!

Avigdor Lieberman, IN Olmert's government, spoke to Condi, and told her the truth. Then, to be sure she "got it" ... he leaked to the Jerusalem Post. So, in Israel, the people who read the JPost know, if Bush goes ahead with the "splitting of Jerusalem," OLMERT'S GOVERNMENT FAILS.

That's one of the options.

It would "play out the clock."

What could Bush do?

How does he get Jews to pack and leave? He blows a whistle?

The IDF is not going to dismantle Jewish communities with at least 200,000 people in them.

Ain't in the cards.

Bush is motivated, however, to leave office, with the Saud's being in the driver's seat in the Mideast.

How many times have we all traveled around this block?

The "plans" came out back in 1992. Thomas Friedman brought them as a gift, from saudi arabia. It died on the vine.

Then, it kept getting resurrected. To die over again. When Arik Sharon first became prime minister.

Ah. Arafat wanted to leave Ramallah to go to "meetings."

As David Simon posted. Arik told Mubarak at one point: "I can come to Sharm el Shek. Unfortunately, Arafat can't make it."

And, for that teleprompter version of the saud's plan? Being held in Beirut? Arik Sharon told arafat he could go BUT NOT COME BACK.

Again, this is Bush's shot at the same game. Same ball in the air.

And, Bush made the promise, to king fahd, back in August 2001.

What does Bush care, now? He's on his last run.

Where are the unintended consequences when you need them most?

The Palis' motivation is clear: the last thing they want is their own state. Olmert is determined to give them one despite strong opposition among Israelis. The reigning goal among Palis is still the so-called "one state solution": with large numbers of Palis returning to a single state, they would be able to impose their political will an subjugate or exile the Jews. Nothing really has changed in the past 60 years.

World pressure on the Palis to recognize the human rights of Jews and allow national self-determination could conceivably help, but it's not likely to happen. The Palis think they are better off now as non-citizens in a territory of Israel than they would be if they relinquished their claims to Israel. They have, in effect, the single state they want--even though it is, they like to claim, an apartheid state.

"Palestinian 'Security' Forces Plotted to Kill Olmert"

Not NOT all Palestinians are bad people...

139 EE  Sun, Oct 21, 2007 7:37:21pm
According to the sources, the terrorists were members of the PA security forces, and therefore knew the convoy’s route as well as security arrangements.

The road map calls for "dismantlement of terrorist capabilities and infrastructure". But Abbas' only method of dealing with this is to bring the terrorists into his security forces. This would give the terrorists better access to weapons, and it would give the terrorists easier access to intelligence information, including information provided by Israel to the Palestinian Authority. In other words, bringing the terrorists into Abbas' security forces would not dismantle terrorist capabilities; it would enhance terrorist capabilities, it would empower the terrorists. And this effort by terrorists in the PA security forces to carry out an assassination of Olmert shows what would be accomplished by doing this terrorist-security force integration on a grander scale.
