-RetweetNYT on Hugo Chavez

Sun, Nov 4, 2007 at 9:32:13 am PST

The New York Times continues a long tradition of useful idiocy, with a piece on Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez: Chavez is a Genius of a Politician: Charming, Folksy, Flirtatious.

UPDATE at 11/4/07 10:28:19 am:

It should be noted that the full article, although overly sympathetic to Chavez, is an interesting look at the oil-driven politics of Venezuela with lots of historical background: The Perils of Petrocracy.

Mr Zappa, I am astounded at the courtesy and soft voiced nature of the comments of my friend, the Senator from Tennessee. I can only say that I find your statement to be boorish, incredibly and insensitively insulting to the people who were here previously, that you could manage to give the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States a bad name, if I felt you had the slightest understanding of it, which I do not. -- - Senator Slade Gorton
