CAIR Instructs the Media

Tue, Dec 11, 2007 at 10:21:02 am PST

The Council on American Islamic Relations, unindicted co-conspirators in the Hamas funding trial of the Holy Land Foundation, have released a “media guide” (for “professionals” only) on the correct way to whitewash Islam. Robert Spencer takes a look: CAIR Instructs the Media.

In its continuing effort to impede freedom of the press in the United States, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has issued a new media guide — available only to “media professionals” — that purports to “educate the media and disabuse journalists of misinformation” about Islam. The notorious Islamic advocacy group, which has seen several of its officials convicted on various terrorism-related charges, and which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror funding case, asserts that “common misperceptions in the media include the notion that Islam is not compatible with democracy or modern culture, that the Quran teaches violence, that Muslims around the world hate the US, that Islam does not respect women’s rights, and that all Muslims are Arab.”

The media guide itself purports to correct other “misperceptions” also, including the idea that Islam doesn’t value religious freedom (which will come as a surprise to Abdul Rahman, the Afghani who was arrested in 2005 for converting from Islam to Christianity) and that Islam was spread by the sword.

Where could such misperceptions have come from? Could the media have gotten the idea that Islam is not compatible with democracy from the Ansar al-Sunnah Army in Iraq, which stated that democracy “is considered apostasy and defies the belief in one God — Muslims’ doctrine,” because it means “the rule of the people, which means that the people do what they see fit”? Or maybe from Iran’s Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, who said in 2006 that the devil uses concepts “such as liberty and democracy to achieve his plans”? Or was it from Usman Badar, president of the Muslim Students Association at the University of New South Wales in Australia, who in April 2006 declared: “Democracy sounds nice enough, (but) not to a Muslim”?

We can always quote Pope Benedict, who was quoting an earlier Byzantine emperor:

Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE 'EASY KILL' IN GENERAL ELECTION

**Exclusive**

Democrat party officials are avoiding any and all criticism of Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee, insiders reveal.

The Democratic National Committee has told staffers to hold all fire, until he secures the party's nomination.

The directive has come down from the highest levels within the party, according to a top source.

Within the DNC, Huckabee is known as the "glass jaw -- and they're just waiting to break it."

In the last three weeks since Huckabee's surge kicked in, the DNC hasn't released a single press release criticizing his rising candidacy.

The last DNC press release critical of Huckabee appeared back on March 2nd.

[DNC Press Release Attack Summary:

Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) – 37% (99 press releases)
Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R-NY) – 28% (74)
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) – 24% (64)
Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) – 8% (20)
Governor Mike Huckabee – 2% (4)]

In fact, as the story broke over the weekend that Huckabee said he wanted to isolate AIDS patients back in 1992, the DNC ignored the opportunity to slam the candidate from the left.

"He'll easily be their McGovern, an easy kill," mocked one senior Democrat operative Tuesday morning from Washington.

"His letting out murderers because they shout 'Jesus', his wanting to put 300,000 AIDS patients and Magic Johnson into isolation, ain't even scratching the surface of what we've got on him."

The discipline the Democrats have shown in not engaging Huckabee has earned the praise of one former Republican Party official:

"The Democrats are doing a much better job restraining themselves than the GOP did in 2003 when Howard Dean looked like he was on the brink of winning the nomination."

A close friend to Huckabee explains: "Look, Mike is Hillary Clinton's worst nightmare. They should be squirming."

Developing...

this is obvious... the huckster and the baggage he carries will give the presidency if elected by the republicans...

common misperceptions in the media include the notion that Islam is not compatible with democracy or modern culture

He needs to talk to all those imams saying precisely, "Democracy and Islam cannot coexist."

, that the Quran teaches violence,

I'm sure it was all those verses about killing the infidel wherever you find him that fooled us

that Muslims around the world hate the US,

Again, it was those tens of thousands of people in the streets waving signs saying Death to America that fooled us.

that Islam does not respect women’s rights,

LIke the right not to drive, the right to wear a bag or be killed, the right to a slow death if raped, the right to 1/2 as much as a brother's share of inheritance, the right to have ones testimony be equal half that of a man, etc

and that all Muslims are Arab.”

Hey! He got one right. That really is a common misconception.

CAIR has been embarrassed in a court of law - yet it still retains cache with a left-leaning establishment media. This is the real question/scandal/issue.

The continued destruction of the MSM's credibility is the solution -- and they are doing a pretty good self-destruction -- and that wall will crumble faster and faster as these years move on.

I noted that although we read an account where those ''teddy bear mobs'' were seeing journalists and making throat-slitting motions with their fingers towards them (in early news releases) those words were expunged by the evening edition (and cannot be found except in blogs that fully quoted them) .

One for Savage, zero for CAIR

Take away their deceitful props and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is like all other big-talking bullies: pathetic, sniveling and alone. In going after top rated radio talk show host Michael Savage, CAIR trotted out a list of advertisers they laid claim to scaring off from advertising on Savage Nation. When the dust settled, it was all CAIR braying brouhaha. Several of the companies CAIR loudly cited in their so-called boycott campaign say they don’t know what the Islamic lobby group is talking about.

49 Miss Molly  Tue, Dec 11, 2007 10:53:15am

Muslim diktats to the media are no innovation of CAIR’s. Hardly had the ashes of 9/11 cooled when the Society of Professional Journalists adopted a set of “diversity guidelines” at the behest of the American Muslim Council that included:

* Seek truth through a variety of voices and perspectives that help audiences understand the complexities of the events in Pennsylvania, New York City and Washington, D.C.

* Seek out people from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds when photographing Americans mourning those lost in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

* When writing about terrorism, remember to include white supremacist, radical anti-abortionists and other groups with a history of such activity.

* Avoid using word combinations such as "Islamic terrorist" or "Muslim extremist" that are misleading because they link whole religions to criminal activity.

* Avoid using terms such as “jihad” unless you are certain of their precise meaning and include the context when they are used in quotations. The basic meaning of “jihad” is to exert oneself for the good of Islam and to better oneself.

* Use spellings preferred by the American Muslim Council, including "Muhammad," "Quran," and "Makkah ," not "Mecca."

* Ask men and women from within targeted communities to review your coverage and make suggestions.

These prescriptions for journalistic dhimmitude were adopted at the organization’s 2001 national convention in Seattle on Oct. 6. They remain in force, and are prominently posted at the group’s Web site.

'One child would not stop crying, and a man said he would shoot it. He said, 'If this noise doesn't stop, I'll shoot you.' " The terrorists rarely spoke, saying only that they wanted Russia out of their country.

Tanya, 14, was slapped across the face when she tried to drink from a tap in the lavatories.

"The man went crazy, he hit me and tugged the top off the tap so I couldn't drink any more. All around me, people were taking off clothes, peeing on them and trying to suck off the urine. Little children were tearing off the leaves of plants and eating them - they were so hungry.

"One little boy, about seven, stood naked with urine running down his leg. He was stuffing rose petals into his bleeding mouth from one of the bouquets the children had brought for the teachers. He was shouting, 'Mama!' She couldn't hear him. She was dead."

The legislative branch seems content to allow courts to have the last word in law. However, the congress can overturn, and even keep the judicial from hearing certain areas of the law. I've been wrong before. But, I think I'm right here.
So, the congress could rule in certain areas where CAIR questions illegitimately. And the courts could not intervene against the wishes of American citizens. If the Supreme Court intervenes in to grievous a manner the congress can address that through Amendment. Is that too radical?

Since we can only depend on the MSM to continue to carry water for CAIR it's up to the alternative media to keep the light of day shining on the cockroaches in CAIR. And if we can shine the light on the MSM at the same time, even better!

Baha'u'llah, the Mahdi of Muslim prophecy, democratized the Faith of God when He eliminated all priesthoods and clergy, when He was with us, 1853-1892.

This will loom more and more important as a solution to the Islamo-clergy problem festering worldwide even as we type and read here...

I believe cair started this propaganda campaign too late- they should have had something put together by the end of 2001, when people looking into islam was peaking, and the msm had more credibility than it does today.

Every week we hear the msm's numbers are down- they are losing money. One instance of msm bias is followed up by another, and every time it happens, some member of their audience wakes up and tunes them out. More and more people are turning to alternative sources to get their news, and these sources would not be "professional" enough to receive cair's guide.

The msm is losing influence, and this is the point in time when cair seeks to indoctrinate them. I say, go for it, msm. Far too many people will not buy into the islamist whitewash, and you'll lose even more influence and audiences.

My dogs instinct says: cair is a bigger problem then some think.

Underestimated, which underlines my assessment of strategic brilliance among islamists.

I see they have made much progress in the States. You need tol whipe out pollical correctness as a compass to ethics asap.

Did I say you are in trouble like us, "europeans" or did I not?

re: #80 Sharmuta

Apparently someone did! This is from Paul Green's post #61 above:

Muslim diktats to the media are no innovation of CAIR’s. Hardly had the ashes of 9/11 cooled when the Society of Professional Journalists adopted a set of “diversity guidelines” at the behest of the American Muslim Council...

Here is the rest of his comment (so you won't have to scroll all the way back up):

I'm so sick of islam I could spit.

Moderates had better get off their ass and do something soon, or all muslims will become pariahs

re: #83 LeePro

To be fair- that was the msm toning down their rhetoric. This is cair trying to indoctrinate our msm against any perceived slight against islam. Similar sides of the same coin, but from whence it originated. Both sources' desires are highly toxic to free speech in America.

CAIR = evil.

CAIR is right on one of their 3 points: not all Muslims are Arab. Thanks, that clears up a big "misperception". But what about the religious violence and the universal slavery of women? I think they need to work on those items to cure any prejudices we might have innocently picked up.
