Pentagon Reaching Out to the Wrong People

Fri, Dec 28, 2007 at 11:01:15 am PST

Bill Gertz has an item today on the Pentagon’s disturbing “outreach” programs that include “reaching out” to Muslim Brotherhood front groups like the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Gertz says that a Muslim aide to Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England is pressuring Pentagon advisers to “take a softer line.”

Pro-Muslim officials at the Pentagon are putting political pressure on one of the U.S. military’s most important specialists on Islamist extremism, according to defense officials.

Stephen Coughlin, a specialist on Islamic law on the Joint Staff, met recently with Hasham Islam, Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon R. England’s close aide. The officials said Mr. Islam, a Muslim who is leading efforts for the Defense Department’s outreach to Muslim groups, sought to convince Mr. Coughlin to take a softer line on Islam and Islamic law elements that promote extremism.

There is also evidence that a whispering campaign is under way to try and discredit Mr. Coughlin as a “Christian extremist with a pen” and force him out of the building, according to the officials.

Mr. Coughlin came under fire from pro-Muslim officials after a memorandum he wrote identified several groups that are being courted by Mr. Islam’s community outreach program as front organizations for the pro-extremist Muslim Brotherhood.

Mr. Coughlin based the memorandum on documents released as evidence in a federal terrorism trial that he stated “are beginning to define the structure and outline of domestic jihad threat entities, associated nongovernmental organizations and potential terrorist or insurgent support systems.”

Mr. Coughlin noted that the documents identified one of the Muslim Brotherhood front groups as the Islamic Society of North America, whose leaders were hosted by Mr. England in April at the Pentagon, raising concerns that the deputy defense secretary does not understand clearly the nature of the Islamist threat he is working against as the No. 2 official.

Mr. England has been a leading advocate of what critics in the Pentagon say is a misguided attempt to reach out to the wrong Muslims, regardless of their views, in an effort to counter Muslim extremism.

That approach has kept military and civilian officials from conducting much-needed assessments of how Muslim extremists are waging war because doing so would involving analysis of Muslim religious tenets, a politically taboo subject area.

This feckless sensitivity to people who want to kill is going to, well, get us all killed.

The military exists to kill people and break things. Not get all squishy over the delicate sensibilities of Islamists.

Interesting- usually it's women who engage in this sort of indirect aggression, but it's not completely unheard of for men. It's likely this route is being taken against Mr. Coughlin because facts are on his side, and smearing is the only resort left to his detractors.

Better to reach out to those Muslims who are the least prone to violence and pit them against the radicals. Muslims must reform Islam. If outsiders try they will simply circle the wagons.

To the extent that the jihadi groups reach back, they get drawn out into the open a little. I'm sure the coming Clinton administration will take the hard line.

Nothing will cure us of the insanity that is PC and liberalism. The infection and mental illness will conitune to grow until we are so weak that we are attacked in force, most likely through several cities being nuked or dirty bombed. That will be our Pearl Harbor. 9/11 didn't have the same impact because liberal stupidity is more rampant now than it was pre-WWII. Losing hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans will have the required impact, and given the level of suicidal PC and liberal idiocy that has infected the population and its government, that is almost inevitable now.

Then, of course, the gloves will come off and we will retaliate against both the jihadists and the leftscum who enabled them. However, while we survived Pearl Harbor and were strong enough afterward to effectively carry on, retaliate, and eventually win, we may not be strong enough to do so this time around. We will surely inflict massive pain on both the libscum and the jihadists, but it might not be enough...

Indeed. Men have a tendency not to use this tactic to the extent that women do. Men tend to confront, but that's not taking into account that this is a workplace- where direct aggression wouldn't be the best course of action. It will be interesting to see if this tactic works in this particular workplace, where many people might not be quite as inclined to join the campaign, being that these are military men and women, who just might realize who their enemy is. It's certainly not some Christian with a pen.

While I absolutely do not support a softer line with such groups in general (but actually the opposite) the fact is that the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood is pervasive and driving much of the jihad, and instead I support support discussions with key individuals within the Muslim Brotherhood who have shown indications of moderation, relative moderation, i.e., moderate extremism. (A certain imam, author, with a TV show and website comes to mind.) I think each country, from wherever it is on the Islamic extremist spectrum, including the U.S. has to take cautiously measured steps in bringing reform to the extent it can--i.e., to "contain" Islam. This is the best that can be done now given that 20% of the world is Muslim. We cannot and should not kill them all.

Although you can't find a lot written about it, many (what we would now consider) leftscum were hounded, fired, completely marginalized, and even beaten (or worse) in the US after Pearl. PC (such as it was then) was tossed completely out the window, as evidenced by the mass interment of people with Japanese ancestory.

Also, the backlash will be proportional to the level of PC and liberal idiocy. That's the way things work. PC and liberal idiocy are FAR worse now than ever in American history, so the backlash will be FAR worse, too.

Frankly, I think when Bush leaves office it will be awful for the kooks and the moonbats. They've spent the last 4 years predicting that the "Bush Crime Co." would bring the US to a state of fascism, when all of there predictions turn out wrong, they won't know what to think!

Read this new book, “The Terrorist Watch” by Ron Kessler to gain some insight into what the alphabet soup of purported US counter terrorism agencies, FBI, DNI, DIA, CIA, NSA, DHS are doing and, frankly, not doing to keep Al Qaeda from perpetrating another series of 9/11 events. We at ACT know from first hand experience that counter terrorism policies and programs in America are crippled because of obsessive political correctness and outreach to the very same Jihadis that want conquer us and replace our Constitution with Sharia. Kessler may have provided us in his book with evidence of why 9/11 events have been difficult to mount because of counter terrorism agencies. But, by implication, he may also have identified what other disturbing threats lurk out there, because our government is either asleep or intimidated by Muslim Brotherhood fronts.

Hindu fanatics attack Christians, torch churches in E. India

Hindu extremists ransacked and burned eight village churches in eastern India, marring Christmas celebrations in a corner of the country with a history of violence against Christians, officials said. One person was killed in the violence.

the New Delhi-based Catholic Bishops Conference of India said the fighting Monday began when Hindu extremists objected to a show marking Christmas Eve, believing it was designed to encourage Hindus at the bottom of the religion's rigid caste hierarchy to convert to Christianity.

An argument over the Christmas show got out of hand and some of the Hindus opened fire on the Christians, wounding three of them, said John Dayal, a spokesman for the Bishops Conference.

The Hindus then went on a rampage Tuesday, chasing people out of six churches and setting the mud-and-thatch buildings ablaze, he said.

PC is a political disease; so who's foisting it on the Pentagon?
Find out who it is and sack them.
Why, oh why, are you allowing a minority of a 4 million minority (out of a population of about 300 million) have so much influence?
It is nonsence logic to accept that if you hold Islamic extremists responsible for their own behaviour then you are only going to turn them into extremists. They already are or they are the enablers of the extremists. The professional victimhood and whining approach should be soundly slapped into touch; they should be told that plenty of people are poor, do not have a higher education, do not live in mansions or have private health care - but they don't have the knee-jerk reaction of blowing people up. That sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable to Americans.
Forget about outreach programmes and soft soaping the unacceptable/incompatible. Politely ignore their attempts at making Islamists a *protected people status* over and above all others within society. That in itself should be unconstitutional. Politely tell them that they have the same rights under US law that everyone else has. No more and no less. US law takes precedence and is entirely separate to religion. America is tolerant of non-Christian religions provided they do not attempt to persecute others, or act as sedition against the State.
(The labelling of him as *christian* is both an oblique insult and discrimination in this context imo).
You will not achieve security within your own borders by pandering. They will only work within your institutions' framework to exert unequal influence, attempt to cripple opposition and to implement their own agenda.
The Military should have the b*lls to handle threats to the US, so how many of them have noticed that they are being gelded? I hope it's a lot, and ones who put country before careers. This is very creepy indeed.

Ashley Wilkes in the book GWTW is a "gentleman." He fought bravely in the war but confided his doubts in letters to wife, Melanie (which Scarlet secretly read and didn't understand). He is a fish out of water in the postbellum world of the South, but he is honorable if a bit "impractical" (Melanie's death-bed observation).

Just let Hitler keep Czechoslovakia. Then he'll be happy and leave us all alone. He'll be "contained." Besides the Germans in Czechoslovakia are being harassed, so in some ways the Czechs had it coming.

Hold on, someone's on the other line...What? Well, just let Hitler keep Poland...

Here's the answer as I see it, from a "telegram sent by the U.S. Secretary of State James Byrnes to General Douglas MacArthur, the American commander in Japan, in October, 1945. The telegram established the basic U.S. policy goals towards Shintoism,..." I've modified it for clarity.

Shintoism Islam, insofar as it is a religion of individual Japanese Muslims, is not to be interfered with. Shintoism Islam, however, insofar as it is directed by the Japanese various government[s], and as a measure enforced from above by the government, is to be done away with. People would not be taxed to support National Shinto Islam and there will be no place for Shintoism Islam in the schools. Shintoism Islam as a state religion—National Shinto Islam, that is—will go .

Russia denies it has a deal to sell the S-300 Air Defense to Iran. This is the Russian version of the Patriot II with some added features (that is what the Russkis do. copy and improve by combination. effectively). Reportedly this unit can hit Intermediate Range Missiles and Aircraft at 90,000 feet.

This follows the same pattern as the SU-31 announcement and denial. All very curious.

I can't find it (yet), but I read about a lot of turmoil in the Pentagon with the decision to place General Petraeus in charge of the latest promotion selection committee responsible for brigadier general. Apparently its unprecedented for a line officer with his responsibilities to be assigned on a selection committee. The rationale was that the Army is looking to avoid just that scenario and have a large number of very bright and very capable Colonel's get their careers buried by bureaucrats.

Actually that is not really true. He was a pretty good politician as was Sharon, However, both were head strong and impetuous. Sorry for the OT Y'all but I did speak to the second of our two Pakistani drivers and he was a) pissed off that "this shit keeps happening in my country" and b) made an observation that he too thought it was Al-Q who had murdered Bhutto AND he thought, that while most Pakistani's really don't give a damn about who's in charge (cause it won't improve their lot in life, AT ALL) that he thought Mushareef may now have significantly more backing to go after Al-Q in the frontier regions because while the Pakistani people are sick to death of their own people killing their own people, they are GENUINELY angry that a "foreign group" would do it.
FWIW.
Oh, and first cabdriver who's Pakistani but obtained US Citizenship the old fashioned way, said that Mushareef had indeed offered MUCH more security to Bhutto, not because he particularly like Bhuto, but it might have given him a legitimate opponent in the upcoming elections, whom he was sure he could beat.
Just reporting here y'all and now I gotta scoot.

British Islamists Celebrate Bhutto Murder (UPDATE: American Islamists celebrate too)

Benazir Bhutto was Ismaa’eeli and not even a Muslimah, therefore people should renew their views about her...

This is the destiny and fate of those who declare war on the Messengers of Allah, His Deen (religion) and His soldiers, the mujaahideen...

By declaring war on Islam and so-called “terrorists” she has faced the consequences.

Some are questioning if she was a Muslimah or not. Firstly, it is known that she was Ismaa’eeli, and not Muslim. But for argument’s sake, even if she was a Muslim, she ruled by kufr (non-Islamic) law and declared complete apostasy by allying with the enemies of Allah against Ahl ut-Tawheed (the people of Islam) – therefore she was a disbeliever.

Her death is a lesson for all other leaders around the world, especially the rulers of Muslim countries.

293 zombie  Fri, Dec 28, 2007 1:56:45pm
That approach has kept military and civilian officials from conducting much-needed assessments of how Muslim extremists are waging war because doing so would involving analysis of Muslim religious tenets, a politically taboo subject area.

That's the most disturbing sentence I've read in a long long time.

Are you trying to tell me that the US Military has not thoroughly analyzed the history and intent of jihad -- and the religious justification for jihad -- out of fear of the PC police?

These days, the habitats are much larger and better. Old zoos had their problems, but these days, they're much better. And with various habitat problems and difficulties in the wild, zoos provide a preservation breeding stock.

It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing.

I'd say they were partly at fault.

Never ever tease an animal, in a zoo or anywhere else. Period. We all agree on that one. Firstly because it's cruel to the animal. And secondly, because it's sheer stupidity, especialliy if the animal is a predator or is capable of violence.

That said, zoos should be constructed in such a way as to assume stupid behavior on the part of visitors, and be made in such a way that people couldn't endanger themselves, even if they tried. A zoo must be idiot-proof, just on general principles.

So, although I believe that the boys (or one of the boys) did indeed tease the tiger, legally the zoo is liable for not providing a safe environment.

"Deserve to die" casts a pretty negative tone on the discussion - sorta assumes the answer (after all, what small category of acts do we deserve to die for - and yet many people fail to string it all the way to death by old age). Fact is, they should have known better, and they should have had some notion of the consequences for their actions.

I'm prepared to say that someone should have been more responsible for their education/behavior, but I'm with you that the tiger didn't "deserve to die" just for being a tiger.

So philosophical these lawyers. But they'd sell their souls for much less.

Ya know, us country folk are intelligent enough to understand that without a large caliber weapon, you're pretty much toast against a mature Tiger. Once they'd get their mouth on ya, you'd find out if there was a God or not.

I have incredibly mixed feelings about zoo's in general. I'm not PETA wacky, but I believe most of the animals are used for entertainment not educational purposes. It seems cruel to me.

I tend to agree. PETA's "ideas" and supporters are nuts, but a caged animal just can't be natural. I haven't been to a zoo in over twenty years, but I remember the last time: a monkey was staring out its cage at all the people, who in turn were just gawking, hypnotically, it seemed to me. The whole scene was bizarre, and for a moment I wondered just who the inmates were. The cage was large enough for the monkey to leap around on the limbs of a few trees, and then it seemed--well, blissful if not happy. But when it settled again and stared through the bars at all the people staring at it, I could swear it was it was disoriented and perplexed.

Children like zoos because animals fascinate them, but a zoo does not seem like a wholesome place for adults to gather.

Oh, she had to be killed, given what happened. The provocateurs are what infuriate me - I'm expected to feel sorry for them, and say, "Well, boys will be boys..." I can't do that.

Actions have consequences, which humans can foresee. So now a beautiful creature is dead because 3 men wanted to torment a tiger they thought couldn't do anything about it. They chose their fate, the tiger didn't choose hers.

I'm just pissed off.

We can learn all we can learn from the Muslims and their teachings without having anything to do with them in any official or friendly business in the government or the military. It's time the United States draw the clearly demarcated line between America and Islam.

While you're probably right, it's notable that the tiger habitat is fairly old, and no tiger has ever gone over the wall before. She may have been an over-achiever - she was young - but no other tiger had ever escaped before, which indicates a high degree of provocation.

I've been to the SF Zoo, and I've been analyzing the photos of the enclosure, and my theory is that the tiger did NOT "go over the wall."

Look at this aerial photo of the tiger enclosure. I think there is a terrible, terrbile flaw in the security design, and it has nothing to do with the moat or the height of the wall in front.

The flaw is the foilage at the BACK of the enclosure -- ivy of some other kind of vine that covers the wall. Any tiger could use that foliage as a sort of rope ladder to scale the BACK wall and get to the top of the divider, and then walk or run along the TOP of the dividing wall and jump down into the public area.

See what I mean? Terrible, terrible security flaw.

Here's an excerpt from a recent speech given by Dep Sec England.

Total PC babble.

And oh by the way - it’s also not a question of religion or nationality. I’ve spent some time reaching out to Muslim-American communities, who are woven in an absolutely integral way into the diverse fabric of American life. It turns out that Muslim-Americans - who come from many different national backgrounds and sects - are, on the whole, more successful economically than the average U.S. population. And a great number of Muslims in Israel have also achieved remarkable successes, some quiet noteworthy - like the Arab Muslim Ali Yahya, who serves as Israel’s Ambassador to Greece. And in the broader Middle East, there are also numerous “success stories” of business people from different religions, in countries throughout the region ... but not yet enough of them. Clearly, there’s something about giving people opportunity that simply works.

My conclusion is that, at the end of the day, it’s about creating the right set of political, social and economic conditions that let human ingenuity thrive.

I could be wrong, but I thought tigers weren't climbers. Would the vines be strong enough to support the tiger? Is there any evidence on the vines that they tiger climbed it? Your theory is very interesting, though, and needs to be investigated. If you're right, then the zoo does have some liability.

If those vines are mysteriously cleared out tomorrow, I'll ve really suspicious.

If so, we're in BIG trouble.

Late jumping in on this (I hate it when life and work get in the way of LGF) -- made me think about former students of mine in various aspects of foreign service. They really divide into two camps -- those who think foreigners are sort of creepy and don't have much patience with their bullshit. Those are, for the most part, the ones who are directly involved in dealing with foreign governments and NGOs on a daily basis. Then there are the ones who have spent time overseas and "gone native," internalizing a romantic attachment to the culture. Those ones, at least as far as I've seen, are more removed from policy implementation and more involved as consultants to policy makers. They are certainly experts, but their expertise does not derive from ongoing experience with the nuts and bolts, but rather from study (not always academic) of the "culture" which they are passionate about. Consequently, they often end up as apologists for certain countries.

What's interesting, is that neither of these types strike me as PC -- especially after they've had a few drinks. I've heard some of the most un-PC comments from policy wonks in the upper-single-digit "G" levels. My suspicion is that this is a kind of self-censorship imposed from the political level rather than something lurking in the bowels of the bureaucracy.

Just my experience ...

Misleading headline of the day?

Vermont town seeks Bush, Cheney arrests

Actually, it isn't the town that is seeking the arrest of POTUS and Darth Cheney, it is a group of middle age hippies and other local moonbats who have petitioned the town council to issue such an order. The ringleader is one Kurt Daims, a 54 year old "retired machinist."

Even so, I think we must examine the root causes of Brattleburger rage. Somebody has to talk to these people through legitimately ordained leaders such as Mr. Daims and the local teacher's union. We should offer foreign aid as an alternative to our imperialistic occupation of Vermont.
It’s all for the children, doncha know.

Yes, animals need some mental stimulation. A bored animal is a dangerous animal, and it's also an animal that over-eats and so on.

As for anthropomorphizing, well, yes, we do. We can't help it. The thing is to keep it under control, and treat it as a useful tool (which it can be).

True, and some animals I'm sure get quite agitated by non-physical aspects, such as isolation for a pack animal or presumably the converse for a lone hunter type.

If you are somehow unarmed and still need to protect yourself from an elephant on the loose, here's how:

Run forward then take a quick left turn.
Run forward again, and take another quick left...
..do it a couple more times if necessary...
...the elephant will topple on its side, giving you time to get out of range...because no elephant is able to keep its balance if turning sharply to the left.

Here are some unheralded people helping to fight the war:

The Wives and Mothers Who care for Wounded Warriors

Rose Lage and her husband, Larry, arrived in San Antonio to find Michael in intensive care in a medically induced coma. He was covered in bandages with tubes coming in and out of his body.

His mother recognized her son by his long dark eyelashes.

But she wasn't allowed to touch him, couldn't embrace him the way she longed to.

"It took everything I had to be strong," she said, her voice breaking.

Now, six months have passed since she arrived in San Antonio with one large suitcase.

Her husband stayed as long as he could, but he had to return to work after the couple tapped their retirement savings for months.

Her two daughters, too, have come to help, but they have their own homes and young children to care for.

Rose hasn't gone anywhere.

Pieces of her wardrobe have arrived with family members as the seasons have changed and as she's lost weight from crisscrossing the post on foot. A few photos of grandkids have gone up around the hotel room, along with Indian dream catchers _ charms traditionally meant to protect against nightmares.

Rose has cobbled together an unexpected life here, learning her way around town and building new routines and friendships she never imagined.

Days of housekeeping and care for grandkids have been replaced with new routines: the careful wrapping of gauze around reddened skin, vigilant adherence to medication regiments, the zipping and buttoning of Michael's clothes.

"We've given up a lot for him," Rose concedes, sitting in a hotel room where a giant flag signed by her son's unit hangs. "We'd give up a lot more for him."

The dog for the obvious, we all need unconditional love.

And the cat because sometimes we need reminding that we are not the center of the universe.

But if you fall and break your hip in the kitchen you'd better hope the dog gets there first to keep that cat from eating you after you miss the first feeding time.

My dad took a home movie (circa 1966) of our family's visit to Yellowstone.

He's filming the bears from inside our car, through the closed window. In front of us, a woman gets out of the passenger side and walks up to some cubs. They are next to the "DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR" sign. Suddenly the mama bear comes limbering out of the woods towards the woman. She scampers back to her car and slams the door. No one is hurt, and it's the FUNNIEST thing in all our home movies.

Clearly, teasing or even creulty to an animal doesn't warrant death morally. At the same time, we live in a world of cause and effect, and simply being near a deadly animal is cause enough for death. (I don't know the exact details here)
17+ year olds should know this. If they died as a result of foolishness, it is a tragedy, but one in which the horror is mitigated by a sort of exasperation that they would hold their own lives so cheap.

(Which of course is not to say that there is no place for risk, but that the thrill of poking a tiger (or whatever) should merit risking one's life is a sad state of affairs. Stupidity doesn't make their death morally deserved, but it does make it somewhat expected and much less sad for strangers.)

Is this psychological warfare? Maybe.

Is it general warfare? Most certainly.

It's a matter of physics, not memory. Even if the elephant does remember, he (or she) can't make that left turn without tripping.

Has a study been run to differentiate between the behavior of right-handed and left-handed elephants

You actually just unknowingly stumbled on one of the great secrets of handicapping American horse races!

I can't tell you the secret, as it is closely guarded by the elite top horse race aficionados, but you can probably figure it out.

It's specifically for American tracks, because (here's the key clue) unlike in America, in horse racing tracks in Asia and many other parts of the world, the horses go clockwise.

Elephants, horses and other four-legged herbivores are similar in their, uh, shall we say, gait.

Science Debate 2008

As you watched the scores of U.S. Presidential debates, did you ever wonder why there has been no debate devoted to policy surrounding what may be the most important social issue of our time: Science and Technology?

We did and we want to make sure it happens.

Science Debate 2008 is a grassroots initiative spearheaded by a growing number of scientists and other concerned citizens. The signatories to our "Call for a Presidential Debate on Science & Technology" include Nobel laureates and other leading scientists, presidents of universities, congresspersons of both major political parties, business leaders, religious leaders, former presidential science advisors, the editors of America's major science journals, writers, and the current and several past presidents of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, among many others.

re: #464 zombie

Okay...I yield...which ones are not? :)

I didn't want to give away the crown jewels here, but...

Most four-legged herbivores favor their rear LEFT foot, to a minor degree. It is slightly stronger, and they tend to "push off" the rear left foot more. The end result of this, however, is that this tends to push the animals forward and ever-so-slightly to the right. Which, as you noted, makes it somewhat more difficult for elephants (as a sort of lumbering prototype) to turn left.

But as with left-handed humans, about 9% (and less with some species) of herbivores are right rear-footed. With horses, it's closer to 4% to 5%.

On an American racetrack with the race running counter-clockwise around the track, they have an advantage because their rear right feet are constantly propelling them slightly inward, so they're more effortlessly "going with the flow" of the race.

It can mean as much as an extra two or three lengths over the full race.

A study of past champion race horses showed that they were far more likely to be rear-right-footed than the average race horse.

With this info, you can become rich.

The trick, my friends, is knowing how to discern the footedness of the horses in the race you're betting on! And that -- I can't tell you!

Well, there's more good news today for Hamas and the HLF:

Award overturned in terrorism suit involving Holy Land Foundation

CHICAGO – A federal appeals court overturned a $156 million award Friday against the Richardson-based Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and three other defendants for their involvement in the terrorist death of an American teenager in the West Bank more than a decade ago.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the judge in the case had failed to require the parents of 17-year-old David Boim to properly show a link between the boy's death and the fundraising activities of the U.S.-based Muslim activists named in the suit.

The Boims had sued the Holy Land Foundation; the American Muslim Society, also known as the Islamic Association for Palestine; the Quranic Literacy Institute of suburban Oak Lawn; and an alleged Hamas fundraiser.

Because of that error, it sent the case back for a possible new trial...

But, being a Federal Emp myself, I snicker sadly at the idea of us doing something smart that doesn't involve technology. Maybe it's another side effect of TV, but our "people skills" as relates to deceit just suck.

Killgore...are you not aware that the most constructive things that can be done in this world, envelope the wisdom of recognizing both physical and spiritual...?

And, that, the idea behind this site here at lgf, recognizing the evil of Islam, leads right into recognizing that Islam is entirely in the grip of the evil one of the spiritual world...?

OK, everyone up to #13 has already made such wonderful comments that I'm getting carpel tunnel syndrome just clicking on all the plus signs.

So, even though I don't click on your post, know that if you are advocating telling the truth about Islam and not caving in to PC whitewashed views of Islam, I would click on your post.

The Muslim religion is a horrible sick cult that spread because weak people couldn't marshall their energies to fight back. Is that what we are doing? I think so.

It is much better for us and for Muslims to understand that while we may appear stupid and harmless, like that Siberian tiger in the SF zoo, we are in fact very very nasty, and they shouldn't mess with us.

I'm not a woman of military age, but there is plenty that I could do to harm our enemies, if push came to shove. I am not PC.

as our elected leaders keep their heads in the sand for whatever reason, stupidity, power, or monetary gain, (who knows), i'm thinking like you. i'm not a woman of military age either, but it will be regular citizens like us who fight these savages any way we can. pc b.s. is the last thing on my mind right now.. we need to prepare for survival w/ out the help of our gov't. look at england. look at europe being sold down the river so as to insure no jihadis are offended. you're right, when push comes to shove, many americans have too much self respect to bow down to the vile screed of these crude barbarians.

Weapon specialists look on as a mock up of the Massive Ordnance Penetrator sits in bomb bay of the B-2 weapons load trainer Dec. 18 at Whitman Air Force Base, Mo. The MOP is approximately 20.5 feet long, with a 31.5-inch diameter and a total weight of slightly less than 30,000 pounds. The weapon will carry over 5,300 pounds of explosive material and will deliver more than 10 times the explosive power of its predecessor, the BLU-109. It is designed to penetrate up to 200 feet underground before exploding. (U.S. Air Force photo)

I'm a huge fan of the .30-06. Forty years experience tells me what is hit with a soft point .30-06 tends to stay hit, and the body is easy to find, lying real close to where you shot it and allI know what the rules of warfare say about using soft-nosed bullets. I don't care. But I'd hate to hump a full combat load of .30-06 in addition to the battle rattle that a modern soldier already carries, so that's out.

And I'd respectfully suggest that whoever signed off on replacing the .45 ACP with a 9MM made a huge mistake. All other decisions that this group made should be carefully reviewed to see what other fool ideas they signed off on. And the idea that we needed to use what our allies in NATO use is just silly. It's not like we're going to be fighting alongside NATO in a land war again anyway.

And another:

A group of friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him. So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to “persuade” them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he’d be back if they didn’t close up shop. Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

I once saw a trick shot artist cutting playing cards with a .45. I thought it pretty fine shooting, and told the gentleman so. Since the crowd was gone he admitted that it wasn't near as hard as it looked, since he could miss by almost a half inch either way and still cut the card.

Sam, however, grew restless, and quit. He opened a series of restaurants & nightclubs, and he was very successful.

He invited his old friend Lavinia to perform at one of his clubs, and she enjoyed the opportunity.

However, she had to leave early because of a special performance late that night. She rushed back to the concert hall, but then realized that she left her instrument at Sam's. She exclaimed in dismay, "Oh, no! I left my harp in Sam Clam's disco!"

I've listened to a mohammedan tell me how they were going to remove all the offending verses from the quran, and those being the ones that had crept into it over time.

I call that nonsense. mohammedans claim i'jaz for the quran, meaning it cannot be in error and is unchangeable. Please explain to me and my simple mind how they're going to do either of these things and still be left with a core of beliefs that represent the 'faith' given to them by mohammed.

Undiscussed aspects of Mormonism:

Mormons are masters of disaster preparedness, a point that neither Romney nor his advisers have yet touted. The church's humanitarian-services arm is an underappreciated asset that Romney has thus far failed to capitalize on as he's contended with the charge—or suspicion—that his religion makes him too weird to be president.

Ever since 9/11, federal and state officials have been imploring Americans to stockpile some food and water and supplies in the basement, without tremendous success (if my basement is any indication). But long before the war on terror, the Mormon church was teaching its members how to prepare for the worst. As the church's Welfare Services Handbook says, "No true Latter-day Saint, while physically or emotionally able, will voluntarily shift the burden of his own or his family's well-being to someone else." To that end, the church coaches members to stockpile a year's worth of food and drinking water, along with other provisions, and most do. If terrorists or a tornado hits your neighborhood, you definitely want to be living next door to a family of Mormons.

And

More recently, the church went into high gear during Hurricane Katrina in a performance that put the federal government to shame. Before the storm made landfall, the LDS church in New Orleans safely evacuated all but about seven families out of about 2,500 local members, largely because the church had created an automated telephone emergency warning system that alerted all its members, instructing them to get out of town and telling them where to go.

Two days before the storm made landfall, while FEMA was floundering, the church dispatched 10 trucks full of tents, sleeping bags, tarps to cover wrecked roofs, bottled water, and 5-gallon drums of gas from its warehouses to New Orleans and other hard-hit areas. The supplies were distributed in an orderly fashion to people who desperately needed them.

Rather than downplay his religion, Mitt could spotlight the aspects of his church that reflect basic Republican values of self-sufficiency and the primacy of the private sector.

Sam the Clam and Lavinia Lobster were friends who both played in the Ocenaic Orchestra.

It's amazing but, every time we go to great adventure,(they have a drive-thru safari)there is some nit-wit who opens his car door,to get a better photo of the cute loins/tigers.once i saw some knuckle head actually get out of his car.the keepers surrounded the idiot with their jeeps.

Some people have a death wish...others don't believe that they will ever die.

Sven and Olie died and went to Hell. After awhile, the Devil came by to see how his new guests were doing. To his amazement, he found Sven and Olie were still wearing their winter gear and seemed to be quite comfortable. The Devil asked why they weren't hot. Olie replied, "We come from Minnesota where it's always cold. This is feeling pretty good to us." This upset the Devil, so he turned up the thermostat. Awhile later the Devil looked in again on Sven and Olie. To his surprise he found they were still wearing their winter gear. The Devil questioned them on it again. "You have to remember that we are from Minnesota and it's very, very cold there. This is feeling nice to us." The Devil was even madder at this, so he turned the thermostat all the way up to maximum temperature. The Devil waited some time and then went back to Sven and Olie. This time he found they had only unzipped their coats, but still had all their winter clothes on. The Devil couldn't understand what was going on. The punishment down here was supposed to be the unbearable heat. It wasn't working on these two. He had to ask again what the deal was. Sven replied, "We are Minnesotans and we just got over a freezing winter. This is really great for Olie and Me. A light flickered in the Devil's mind. He went to the thermostat and turned it off. He thought if the heat wasn't a punishment, maybe he'd give them some freezing temperatures. A little while later the Devil came back to check in on Sven and Olie only to find them cheering and giving each other high fives, happier than ever! The Devil questioned them on their actions and Sven said happily, "Back home they always said, the Vikings will win the Super Bowl when Hell freezes over!"

I have a family photo taken in Yellowstone from my father's cross-country trip in 1930. There's a bear, standing up and leaning into the passenger side of the Willis-Knight, to eat a candy bar granddad placed on the window sill to lure it up for the shot. Unseen in the photo are my father and grandmother, screaming, huddled in fear in the back seat. Luckily everyone survived, and when Dad took his own family on the same trip in 1962, he was very wise about staying away from the bears.

One day during the Middle Ages, the Pope decreed that all the Jews had to leave Italy. The Jewish community was devastated, but their pleas seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Eventually, the Pope agreed to enter into a debate with a representative of the Jewish community. If the Jewish representative won, they could stay in Italy. If the Pope won, they would have to leave.

There was just one problem: Not one leader of the Jewish community was willing to take on this awesome responsibility. Finally, one person stepped forward: Moishe, the street sweeper. However, Moishe only spoke Hebrew, and the Pope only spoke Latin. So they agreed to a silent debate!

On the chosen day, St. Peter's Square was packed with onlookers. At its center was a platform. On one side sat the Pope; other the other side, Moishe.

The two men faced each other silently for one full minute. Then the Pope waved his hand around his head. Moishe sternly pointed one finger to the ground.

The Pope paused, then raised three fingers above his head. A moment later, Moishele flipped him the bird, raising his middle finger to the Pope.

Taken aback, the Pope lifted up a cup of wine and a wafer. Moishe calmly pulled out an apple.

With that, the Pope stood up and declared, "I give up. The Jews can stay."

Pandemonium.

The Pope’s entourage was stunned. "What happened?" they asked.

The Pope replied, "No matter what I presented, that Jew had an answer. First, I waved my hand above my head to indicate that God is everywhere. But he pointed to the ground to show that God is also right here with us."

"Then I held up three fingers to represent our belief in the Trinity. But he held up one finger, to remind me that there is one God common to both our faiths."

"Finally, I pulled out the wine and wafer to show that God absolves us of all our sins. But he pulled out an apple to remind us that we are all born with original sin. What could I do? He won the debate fair and square."

Meanwhile, the Jews surrounded Moishe. "What happened?" they asked.

"Well," said Moishe, "First, the Pope said, 'All the Jews around here are going to be thrown out of the country!' And I said, 'No, we're staying right here!'"

"Then he said, 'You Jews have to be out of here in three days.’ And I told him what I thought of that idea!"

"And then what?" someone called out.

"I don’t know," said Moishe, shrugging. "He took out his lunch, so I took out mine."

A guy was lonely and so he decided life would be more fun if he had a pet. So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to
buy an unusual pet. After some discussion he finally bought a centipede, which came in a little white box to use for his house.
He took the box home, found a good location for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to the bar for a drink. So he
asked the centipede in the box, "Would you like to go to Frank's place with me and have a beer?" But there was no answer from his new Pet.
This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked him again, "How about going to the bar and having a drink with me?" But
again there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation. He decided to ask him one more time. This time putting his face up against the centipede's house and shouting, "Hey, in there! Would you like to go to Frank's place and have a drink with me?

A little voice came out of the box: "I heard you the first time! I'm putting on my

To which, during his explanation, the Pope says "I used the orange to show that God's love is so great that it encompasses the entire world.
The Jew brought out a matzah to show that God's power is so great that if He wanted He could smash the world flat."

re: #645 JammieWearingFool

Jammie,

It was the wonderful Obi-Wan...from an email of his:

All About Men

1. Men like to barbecue. Men will cook if danger is involved.

2. Men who have pierced ears are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain and bought jewelry.

3. Marrying a divorced man is ecologically responsible. In a world where there are more women than men, it pays to recycle.

4. Men are very confident people. My husband is so confident that when he watches sports on television, he thinks that if he concentrates he can help his team. If the team is in trouble, he coaches the players from our living room, and if they're really in trouble, I have to get off the phone in case they call him.

5. Men like phones with lots of buttons. It makes them feel important.

6. Men love to be the first to read the newspaper in the morning. Not being the first is upsetting to their psyches.

7. All men are afraid of eyelash curlers. I sleep with one under my pillow, instead of a gun.

8. A good place to meet a man is at the dry cleaner. These men usually have jobs and bathe.

9. All men hate to hear, "We need to talk about our relationship." These seven words strike fear in the heart of even General Schwarzkopf.

10. Men are sensitive in strange ways. If a man has built a fire and the last log does not burn, he will take it personally.

11. Men have an easier time buying bathing suits. Women have two types: depressing and more depressing. Men have two types: nerdy and not nerdy.

12. Men have higher body temperatures than women. If your heating goes out in winter, I recommend sleeping next to a man. Men are like portable heaters that snore.

13. Women take clothing much more seriously than men. I've never seen a man walk into a party and say "Oh, my God, I'm so embarrassed; get me out of here. There's another man wearing a black tuxedo."

14. Most men hate to shop. That's why the men's department is usually on the first floor of a department store, two inches from the door.

15. If a man prepares dinner for you and the salad contains three or more types of lettuce, you should be worried about him.

16. No man is charming all of the time. Even Cary Grant is on record saying he wished he could be Cary Grant.

17. When four or more men get together, they talk about sports.

18. When four or more women get together, they talk about men.

19. Men are less sentimental than women. No man has ever seen the movie "The Way We Were" twice, voluntarily.

20. Most women are introspective: "Am I in love? Am I emotionally and creatively fulfilled?" Most men are outrospective: "Did my team win? How's my car?"

21. If a man says, "I'll call you," and he doesn't, he didn't forget. He didn't lose your number. He didn't die. He just didn't want to call you.

22. Getting rid of a man without hurting his masculinity is a problem. "Get out" and "I never want to see you again" might sound like a challenge. If you want to get rid of a man, I suggest saying, "I love you; I want to marry you; I want to have your children." Sometimes they leave so fast, they leave skid marks.

23. Men are self confident because they grow up identifying with super heroes. Women have bad self images because they grow up identifying with Barbie.

24. Male menopause is a lot more fun than female menopause. With female menopause you gain weight and get hot flashes. With male menopause, you get to date young girls and drive motorcycles.

25. Men forget everything; women remember everything. That's why men need instant replays in sports. They've already forgotten what happened.

Huckabee Sees Pakistan as Reason For Border Fence

DES MOINES — Mike Huckabee used the volatile situation in Pakistan Friday to make an argument for building a fence on the American border with Mexico and found himself trying to explain a series of remarks about Pakistanis and their nation.

On Thursday night he told reporters in Orlando, Fla.: “We ought to have an immediate, very clear monitoring of our borders and particularly to make sure if there’s any unusual activity of Pakistanis coming into the country.”

On Friday, in Pella, Iowa, he expanded on those remarks.

“When I say single them out I am making the observation that we have more Pakistani illegals coming across our border than all other nationalities except those immediately south of the border,” he told reporters in Pella. “And in light of what is happening in Pakistan it ought to give us pause as to why are so many illegals coming across these borders.”

In fact, far more illegal immigrants come from the Philippines, Korea, China and Vietnam, according to recent estimates from the Department of Homeland Security.

Did anyone hear about this attack on Christmas?

Mauritania searching for gunmen who killed 4 French tourists

NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania: Mauritanian prosecutors called the brutal Christmas Eve slaying of four French tourists a terrorist act and said Tuesday that security forces were hunting three suspects who they said belonged to a regional al-Qaida-linked terror network.

Gunmen shot the tourists Monday as they picnicked on the side of a road near Aleg, a small town 245 kilometers (150 miles) east of Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott, police said. The attackers then fled south toward the Senegalese border, police said.

Interesting interview with Bhutto here, at about 5:30 minutes in she talks about the three she suspects (one sounds like Hamid Gul,) and then goes on to say one of the them met with "Omar Sheikh, the man who murdered Osama Bin Laden." -- Anyone out there good at video forensics to see if this has been doctored? You would think that this would have made bigger news if BB actually said that OBL was murdered during the interview which was a while back.

I'll see you in hell, Pachelbel

This is great! :)

I have to tell you, though: Canon in D is the most beautiful pievce of music ever, and I'm convince that when I die the angels will be playing that as my soul ascends.

The canon is charming, but Pachelbel could write more intricately developed music The Prelude in d minor is an example.

This sample is a midi-fied harpsichord, so it can sound a bit tinny. The d minor was written for organ, and when you hear a good recording of it played on a Baroque instrument in a cathedral that reverberates, you get the full effect of the deep pedal and the massed chords.

Perverse, yet so unsurprising. The Pentagon is being manipulated - willingly - by the very people who want to destroy us. Ban these subversive organizations now: CAIR, ISNA, MSA and all the rest. The "leaders" who are not citizens should be deported. The "leaders" who are citizens should be watched closely by the FBI. These people are at war with civilization. is: lets promote the less capable one so he/she has less chance to compete with us, his promoters for the positions furhter up. As times passes by, self apointed corporate "leadership" is eventually got saturated with softspoken damnheads. The higher the damner.
