Iowahawk Document Dump

Wed, Jan 23, 2008 at 6:23:09 pm PST

Iowahawk’s been digging around in Canadian dumpsters (dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it), and he’s surfaced with a crumpled-up first draft of the Alberta Human Rights Commission’s report on their hearing with Ezra Levant: Filed In Triplicate.

Defendant acknowledges awareness of charges against him. He is represented by counsel but insists on opening statement and filming the hearing. Despite warnings and brochure on self incrimination he proceeds.

Defendant states he is attending under protest and would do crime again. States belief that AHRCC has no authority to prosecute. Under eye contact, defendent’s counsel shrugs. Defendant says hearing in violation of “separation Mosque and State” (note: potential violation of Section 118-c(a) AHRCC Innuendo Act?). Claims “original intent” of Commission not to enforce Islamic law. Defendant apparently unfamiliar with AHRCC interoffice memo HVM-d11, “Koranic Compliance Guidelines for Non-Muslim Associates.”

Calls Commission “dump for junk,” cites previous cases. Calls AHRCC “joke,” “pseudo court,” “Judge Judy.” Cites critical statements of Commission founder, even though he doesn’t work here any more. Says authority unlawful, unconstitutional. Counsel seems oblivious to client’s contempt, is seen reading “Highlights for Children” magazine from waiting room.

Starts yapping about British common law, Magna Carta, Canadian law, UN Declaration of Human Rights, other documents of white male privilege, etc. Subject seems agitated. Stuff about conscience, religion, expression blah blah blah. Seems to be stonewalling because none of this has any reference in my copy of Publication AHRCC-0503(k), “Hearing Guidelines for Human Rights Clerks.” Long diatribe about Sharia Law, radical Islam.

Sorry, I crossed my arms and kind of spaced out there for a second to look at that nice big landscape painting in the hearing room. Does the Commission gift shop have prints? Anyhoo, defendant still seems agitated, and offers thanks to (probably also racist) magazine donors. What is this, the racist Oscars?

Counsel later exchanged “Highlights for Children” for something she could understand.

He hit it out of the park with this one. I've had numerous interactions with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and have been at hearings in front of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and it's the same mindset. Unfortunately, in those cases, it wasn't satire.

The scary part is, he absolutely nailed it. The frumpy little troilette might as well copy his work and submit it as her own. Not only that, they'll likely adopt the icon-based "DAAT" section and the plaintiff/defendant sections, in toto.

I've watched all of the video clips Levant posted. Significantly, I saw the "officer" take next-to-no notes of the "hearing". Effectively, none at all. This is astonishingly lax conduct in a quasi-judicial administrative law setting.

This is significant. Absent a transcript, there is no reviewable error of law on the face of the record from this inquisition- because the "officer" ensured that there was no record. Had it not been for Levant's fore-knowledge of how this Star Chamber was going to be conducted, and his resulting insistence on the video record, he would have had nothing to demonstrate to Canuckistan the world what a Kafkaesque, absurd, dangerous process the HRC represents.

Levant notes on his blog today how "Officer" McGovern has complained about his video. I reckon that in any other organization, her pathetically incompetent behaviour (so well parodied by Iowahawk) would be classed as a Career Limiting Move. Looks good on her, I must say.

nice big landscape huh? well that was a very oppressive landscape, not serene or peaceful. those difficult gravel hill roads, those harsh trees. it was inappropriate for the "hearing room". it served no purpose but to intimidate the accused. i think it was chosen purposefully by investigator-agent herself frau mcgovern. and mr. levant needs to bring a claim against the chrc for the hateful use of this type of painting specifically designed to hurt his feelings and in fact the feelings of all people summoned before her.

Actually - I did. Directly to Big Blue Corp. H.Q. - I got two call backs.

I'm willing to bet that "Plaintiff" M. E. does not get his consulting contract renewed - and possible termination of his existing contract soon.

:-)

41 tiburon  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 7:10:17pm

And in respect for an acquaintance (in public position) who IMHO needs more time to rethink the facts...it seems most everything is acceptable to those backing the CHRC, due process be damned, if the 'intent' is to bring down any deemed racist or bigotted.

OT:

Sometimes taxi drivers are assaulted and/or robbed while on duty. Of course, there are exceptions:

A taxi driver, charged with raping three women passengers, has been granted bail by a Sydney magistrate.
Police told Central Local Court today they had DNA evidence that linked defendant Hassan Nagi, 36, of Bexley, to attacks against a 31-year-old woman at Glebe in 2003, a 23-year-old woman in the Kings Cross area in 2006 and a 27-year-old woman at Kogarah in 2007.

Yep. Mark Steyn made that point in a recent article. Bombing things and cutting off heads happens in those cultures where free speech is suppressed. That's what our future will be if this PC stuff becomes the law of the land.

57 tiburon  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 7:26:53pm

RE: - #41 Specifically this individual in our recent correspondence said it was about 'choosing sides'. Nice, eh? Concept of free debate, free market of ideas seemed lost on him, and he globally dismissed those questioning the methods and practices of the complainant and CHRC as just another "neo-Nazi scam". (Sorry can't say who - central enough to the debate to matter, put it that way)

So yes, apparently True Believers, and given this persons position/power in Canadian life, and Kinsella, et. al., they will indeed not just let this Inquisition fade away. They'll fight tooth and nail to preserve the Tool, irrespective of it's ultimate legality or Constitutionality.

So, it's going to be long, and bitter, this struggle and much appreciation to Iowahawk for bringing his unique focus on the issue (and Charles for keeping his eye on it all).

Probably someone's linked already but Steyn was cute today, suggesting that some testimony from The Ayatollah would have helped him in his defence against critique of the CBC "Little Mosque on the Prarie" as not having Muslim comics/actors, which is odd when you think about it. As Khomeini said - "There are no jokes in Islam".

Exactly. If these pious morons go ballistic over some poorly done cartoons, how would they react to a full frontal assault by the Western media? Imagine an islamic Life of Brian, Last temptation of muhammud, etc. Imagine stand up comics, a zillion Kilgore Trouts making wry swipes at the faithful followers of the Big Bugger (piss be upon him)...

*sigh* I might as well imagine there's no heaven. :P

I figure a couple of dozen Warner Brothers "Porky Pig" videos distributed strategically could probably wipe out half of al-Qaeda.

This is from the UN, but it almost sounds like Iowahawk..
Secretary-General launching 2008 consolidated appeal.. to ensure survival of world’s ‘bottom billion’

We are here today on behalf of people the world has all too often forgotten: the weak; the disadvantaged; those suffering the effects of climate change, violence, disaster and disease. The people we seek to help are among the world’s “bottom billion” trying to survive on less than a dollar a day, amid chaos and wrenching inequality...

With this goal in mind, I call on the international community to support this year’s Humanitarian Appeal. And I urge you to act now. Humanitarian actions cannot “kick off” until you make your funding decisions. Early funding enables agencies to start programmes on schedule so that assistance arrives quickly and continues as needed. Funding delays, on the other hand, only add to costs in the long run as conditions spiral downwards. And these costs include precious lives lost -- a price too terrible to pay.

Last year, millions of people suffered in disasters and conflicts, whether in Somalia, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or other areas these appeals hope to help...

Funding must be equitable. Some emergencies are nearly fully funded while others languish. Last year, for example, the appeal for Chad was 100 per cent funded, while Cote d’Ivoire received but 55 per cent funding, and Zimbabwe and West Africa, 56 per cent. Funding inequities persisted throughout last year’s flash appeals as well. The appeal for Madagascar received 94 per cent funding, while Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic both languished at 37 per cent. And that’s simply not enough.

This sort of thing used to be assumed into the whole "Western Civilization" ride we're all on. Now we have to defend Free Speech of all things? Really? If this is what it's come down to, we are really up S--t Creek without a paddle.

Yep. Mark Steyn made that point in a recent article. Bombing things and cutting off heads happens in those cultures where free speech is suppressed. That's what our future will be if this PC stuff becomes the law of the land.

The human spirit will endure. We will not be enslaved by Islam. We will fight against this latest form of evil, and we will endure. Never forget that!

If one is willing to risk - document - document - document - using links - no direct accusations - and then submitting to the perps employers legal dept. (if they work for a Co. large enough to have one).

If enough keep the pressure up - we can run them out of their comfy corp and univ positions.

But it takes action.

Documentation is key.

A key front in kicking the shit out of Islamofascism is the "soft" areas of life.

Dutch appeals court overturns terror convictions of 'Hofstad' members

A Dutch appeals court Wednesday overturned the convictions of seven men [BBC report] who were charged with being in a terrorist network that included Muslim extremist Mohammed Bouyeri [Wikipedia profile]. Bouyeri confessed to the November 2004 murder [BBC report; JURIST report] of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh [Wikipedia profile]. The seven men were suspected of belonging to the Dutch Muslim Hofstad Network [Wikipedia backgrounder] terror group and were convicted of planning attacks on Dutch politicians. The appeals court upheld a separate sentence of 15 years for Jason Walters, the son of a US citizen, for throwing a hand grenade at police during a siege of a barricaded house. The court reduced the sentence of another man, Ismael Aknikh, from 13 years to 15 months. A third man, Nouredine el Fahtni, is serving a four year sentence on a separate terrorism conviction, while the remaining four men have already been freed after serving sentences of less than two years. The Hague Appeals Court declined to classify the Hofstad network as a terrorist organization because the group had no lasting and structured cooperation and members did not share a common ideology.

I believe Ezra Levant has detailed the problematic areas of HRCs and how (in terms both of procedural law and substantive law) these Tribunals are dangerous farces (they are a dire threat to Free Speech in Canada -- and, imo, HRCs need to be dismantled.) The HRCs also work to the advantage of those who wish/desire to silence others...to stifle Freedoms. These HRCs are also going far beyond their original mandates...(HRCs may have served some purpose 40 years ago -- but now we have actual Labour Laws, we have actual Landlord and Tenant Acts, etc., etc. -- and we have actual, real courts under which plaintiffs and defendants can turn to. HRCs are being used when the plaintiff knows the case would be thrown out of a regular/normal court...If you visit Ezra Levant's site, he points out that in order to win under these Tribunals -- facts are not necessary -- committing an actual, discriminatory act is not necessary -- one need only to claim "I've been offended!" and then claim "written material X is likely to cause/create a negative impression against minority group Y." Again, that's "likely" to cause discrimination -- not actually cause it-- just "likely.") Sooo, let's say the KKK claims "discrimination" -- (I really, really doubt such a group would ever be given a hearing at any HRC, but for the sake of argument, let's imagine this impossibility -- the KKK files a complaint with the HRC) -- or somebody's written something "derogatory" against the KKK, and the KKK is pissed -- or they figure it's likely to cause someone to dislike the KKK -- and let's further suppose (hypothetical here) that the HRC would rule in the Klan's favour. Ok, so, seriously, what's the point? The ability of an HRC to silence X -- regardless of who's being "silenced" (whether it's Muslims or Ezra Levant) through these outrageous, arbitrary and capricious Tribunals (these Stalinist Show "courts") accomplishes nothing! irrespective of "who wins." It doesn't matter "who wins" -- if DUE PROCESS has been egregiously violated.

How about a real anime cartoon having Porky Pig beating up Muhammad.

Here's a cartoon of Porky Pig beating up Mohammedans.

Here's the inevitable antisemite/conspiracist in the Youtube comment thread:

I was thinking today about moonbattery derangement, the new hip movement of "imagining the world without humans"...I think Nat Geo or somebody had an advertisement for an upcoming program.

The pasty white progressive idjuts feel so guilty about existing that they imagine the elimination of mankind. Meanwhile, there are people living in ditches around the world who would just like to live until tomorrow. I sense a conflict of purpose here somewhere.

My humble opinion is that anyone who hates humanity that much should be willing to commit honorable suicide. If they are too wussy to do that, we should legalize euthanasia for those cases only.

It's for their own good. Free them from the unbereable shame of being human.
/sarcasm, more or less, but only because they are beyond satire. Human humanity haters are parodies of themselves.

True. You can tell by the tone of McLauglins guitar that he is using heavy gauge strings.

In truth, he's using amplification, but not through pickups. He has an acoustic mic inside the guitar so he still has to produce vibration enough to make an audible sound.

Peppered Catfish
Serves six

Pepper rub
3 tablespoons coarsely ground black pepper
2 tablespoons kosher or sea salt, coarsely ground
1.5 tablespoons coarsely ground white pepper
.5 teaspoon cayenne

6 8-oz catfish fillets

Catfish Mop
2 cups seafood or chicken stock
.5 cup vegetable oil
juice of 3 limes
1-2 tablespoons of Pepper Rub

Step 1: at least 2.5 hrs before you plan to BBQ, or preferably the night before, mix the rub ingredients in a small bowl. Cover the catfish lightly and evenly in the rub, reserving 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture if you plan to baste the fish. Place the fillets in a plastic back and refrigerate for 2.5 hrs or overnight.

Step 2: prep the smoker/oven for cooking, temperature to 180F-200F

Step 3. Remove fillets from refrigerator, let them sit at room temp for about 20 min

Step 4. mix mop ingredients in small saucepan and warm over low heat

Step 5. place the catfish in the oven/smoker on a small grill rack as far from the fire as possible. Cook for 1.5 hrs, dabbing the cat fish with the mop about every 20 min or so, when cooked, the fish should be opaque and firm, but flaky.

Manhattan Red Chowder

Serves 6-8

8 lbs small quahogs or large cherry clams
4 oz slab (unsliced) bacon, rind removed and cut into .5in dice
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 stalks Celery, dice into .5in cubes
1 large onion (10 oz), cut into .5in dice
1 medium green bell pepper (6 oz), cut into .5in dice
2 medium carrots (4 oz), cut into .5in dice
2 dried bay leaves
.25 cup fresh Italian parsley
2 teaspoons dried oregano
.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1.5 potatoes, peeled and cut into half inch dice. Yukon Gold, PEI, or Maine Potatoes for those in the states.
1 cup clam broth, or bottle clam juice, or fish stock, or chicken stock
1 can (28 oz) whole peeled tomatoes in juice, cut into half inch dice
freshly ground black pepper.
Kosher or Sea Salt.

Step 1: scrub the clams and rinse clean. Steam them open. Strain the broth (should be about 4 cups or thereabouts) and have left about 1 lb of clams. Cover the clams with plastic wrap and keep refrigerated. After they have cooled somewhat, dice into .5 inch cubes. Cover again and keep refrigerated until needed.

Step 2: heat a 4-6 quart heavy pot over low heat (I use cast iron) and add the bacon. Once it has rendered a few tablespoons of fat, increase the heat to medium and cook the bacon until crispy golden brown. Drain off all but one table spoon of fat, leaving the bacon in the pot.

Step 3: add the olive oil and the garlic and cook for 30 seconds,, then add the onion, celery, bell pepper, carrots, bay leaves, oregano, and crashed red pepper. Saute, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, for 10-12 minutes, until the vegetables are softened but not browned.

Step 4: place the potatoes, the reserved clam broth, and the additional 1 cup of broth. The broth should barely cover the potatoes. If it doesn’t, add water to barely cover turn up the heat, bring to a boil, cover and cook the potatoes for about 10 minutes until soft on the outside, but still firm in the center. If the broth isn’t thickened, smash a few potatoes against the side of the pot to release their starch.

Step 5: add the tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat, stir in the diced clams and parsley , and season to taste with the pepper.

Step 6: When serving the chowder, reheat over a low heat, do not boil.

Beef with Cactus Pieces

Serves 6
2 pounds braising beef, cut into 2 inch cubes
2 tablespoons corn oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1-2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 can (4 oz) nopalitos (cactus pieces) rinsed and chopped
2 cans (10 oz each) tomatillos (Mexican green tomatoes)
.5 cup chopped fresh cilantro
beef stock (optional)
salt and freshly ground black pepper
chopped fresh cilantro, to garnish

Step 1: Pat the beef cubes dry with paper towels. Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the beef cubes a few at a time, until browned all over. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the beef to a flameproof pan

Step 2: add the onion and garlic to the oil remaining in the frying pan and sauté until the onion is tender. Add oil as needed. Transfer to the pan, along with the jalapenos.

Step 3: add the nopalitos and tomatillos, with the can juices, to the pan. Still in the cilantro until well mixed. Add beef stock as needed, season with salt and pepper.

Step 4: bring to a slow simmer, cover and cook at a low heat for about 2.5 hrs, or until beef is very tender. Serve sprinkled with chopped cilantro.

Q: "Do you believe that Obama in the Arab street could hate America less if they saw that you were elected because of your faith background and your brushes with Islam in your past?"

OBAMA: I don't think that it would change the minds of the hard-core ideologues of the Islamic world movement. I think they would see me as a Christian and an infidel and a Westerner. They wouldn't view me any differently, I think, than any other American president. I do think that for the average Arab or Indonesian or Nigerian or Tunisian Muslim on the street; that my familiarity with their culture would have an impact. I think that they would view America differently if I were president, and that that is not just symbolic. That is something that could be used in a constructive way to open greater dialogue between the West and the Islamic world and that ultimately could make us more safe

The Gold Basin cake has been made every year by Cakes by Clara here in Tucson. I will wrap some Gold Basins in aluminum foil and have Clara push a few in here and there after she bakes it but before she frosts it and decorates it per my color photo of the Gold Basin strewn field which I always give her. I make sure she has a rattlesnake by the Gold Basin sign (sign not there any more at the field but the snake may be lurking), a beautiful bright orange sunset over light blue mountains and lots of Joshua trees and little bushes on the ground. Later I add a few of my miniature chocolate truffles that I make to make it look like it did when Jim, John and I first mapped the field and there were GB meteorites all over the place.

Pork With Moorish Seasonings

Serves 8 for appetizers, 4 as entrée

2 lbs boneless pork loin or tenderlion
1 medium onion, finely diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons, minced fresh flat-leaf (Italian) parsley
1 tablespoon Spanish Paprika
.5 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
.5 teaspoon ground cumin
.5 teaspoon ground coriander
.5 teaspoon dried oregano
.25 teaspoon saffron threads, ground
4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons dry sherry or white wine

.5 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Step 1: cut the pork into .75 inch cubes. Combine remaining ingredients except 2 tablespoons oil into large non-reactive baking dish. Ad meat and toss ingredients to coat, then marinate, covered in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours, or overnight if needed (the longer the soak, the spicier)

Step 2: Preheat your grill (or oven) to high.

Step 3: when ready to cook, put the cubes onto skewers. Oil the grill (or oven grill mate), the arrange the kebabs on the hot grate. Cook the pork until it is browned on all sides (2-3 minutes) and cooked through, 8-12 minutes in all, brushing now and again with the 2 tablespoons oil. Serve hot

re: #194 Jewels (AKA Julian)

Cat fish that doesn't involve deep-frying?

Noam's PB&J Midnight Snack:

2 slices whole grain, or 100% whole wheat bread
1 goodly dollop of all natural (organic? sure - knock yerself out) creamy peanut butter - halved
1 semi-goodly dollop of your favorite fruit preserve

Spread one half of goodly dollop of peanut butter on each slice of bread
Set semi-goodly dollop of fruit preserve on one half of peanut-buttered bread, break up and spread haphazardly in all directions outward from the center.

Enjoy with tall glass of ice-cold milk.

Did you all hear Rush today? He played a clip of obama saying this:

I don't listen to Rush that often, too pompous.

Is that a legitimate quote, Obama's voice and all, not doctored?

Yep it was him. I'm listening to the show now. I went out to lunch today and missed the show.
Unfortunately there wasn't a link to the audio but I did hear him say it. Just copied the transcript.

SAY IT NOW.

Ok. I'm fixing to place a man looking for woman ad on Craigslist. Below is my text. I just want some input for the Lizards.

Hi

Look ladies, I have a problem. I have a date tonight with a woman who is probably way over my dating standards. I mean, she's a knockout and I'm... well... I'm a dreeb. I guess I have been playing around with Photoshop too much, but I did a little "fixing" to my picture, sent it to her and now she wants to meet at the Brown Palace tonight at 6:00pm.

My problem is, nothing is going right over here. I'm trying to get into a size 36 pants (I'm a 42), this "Just for Men" stuff must be "Just for Scientists" because I can't get the color to come out right and I accidently dumped a bottle of Fabarge for Men all over myself. Can Fabreze get that smell off of me?

So, if ANY woman has ANY time to hurry over to my house and dress me, I would be in debt to you forever.

I am 31 years old, 32 inch waist, burnette hair, blue eyes, speak four languages, have a passport and private jet... oh boy... I can't help myself.

Just email me and I'll give you my address and phone number.

Signed...

George Clooney (darn it... there I go again).

P.S. No really. I am 55 years old, 6 foot tall, 42 inch waist, blond hair with highlights of gray coming in, green eyes, speak enough French to get arrested in Paris and I do have a passport but no jet, just a 10 year old car. Very Single and looking for a LTR. Email me if you are interested in talking.

I put something here a few nights ago about the peace and love folks in Manhattan. These contacts all go back to a few phone numbers, an address or two, and about a hundred "peace", "justice", "anti-imperialist", 'muslim rights", "Palestinian freedome" and lord knows how many variants. These people create organizations with catchy names by the dozen, get them listed in some newsletter or poster or something and imagine themselves being World Dominationists when there are only a dozen or so of them with 800 different organization names and a cheap room somewhere with an unpaid telephone bill.

I always wonder how far BDS can go. There never seems to be a limit. Since he apparently had mental health issues, I was wondering if any of our regular fever-swamp waders had seen a post out in left field that blamed Ledger's death on Bush's (refusal to address health care/anti-science cultural climate/catering to the drug companies/pick your own cliche).

How would you know what anything smells like as long as one nostril is stuck up ShortShit's anus, and the other is stuck up Putin's anus?

Mandy, I enjoy your spirit, but your mouth would a put a wimpy 6th fleet sailor to shame. I have listened to the very best, and your cursing wouldn't hold up for five seconds in the fleet. Any chance you can tone it down it a bit? Just for a week? I know you don't talk like this around your kids.

ROFLMAO!

What's your agenda?
Why do you want me to change who I am?

BTW, I don't have KID(S). I HAVE A CHILD.

Bad, bad research.

I wouldn't be shock. Think Progress and Daily Kos blamed Bush for the California fires and the bridge collapse. I'm not a Bush fan, but come on he's not responsible for everything.

Well usually anytime there's a mental health discussion, they blame Reagan for "slashing budgets and turning all the crazy homeless people out on the street", et cetera, but having seen the way these kids transfer the entire Vietnam war onto Nixon, for example, or blame W exclusively for 9/11 and disregard the preceeding eight years, I'm sure we can fit Bush into "probable cause" for the death of a guy who played a gay cowboy.

(Do you hear that, you leftie freakshows? I dare you to find a way to blame Bush for Heath Ledger's death. Don't let me down.)

On the C-SPAN front:

C-SPAN 3 History --is rebroadcasting the 3/19/2004 vid of Marianne Pearl talking at John Jay College in NY --she is actually prettier than Angelina Jolie.

C-SPAN 2 --is showing today's session of the Congressional Budget Committee ihearing on the US Economic Outlook with Peter Orsag, CBO Director. Interesting, but better to watch during the day, not when tired.

C-SPAN 1 is showing the Report on Bush Administrations Pre-Iraq War Statements --from today --The Center for Public Integrity are doing an line-by-line accounting of false statements about the reasons for the war. G_d these guys have a lot of time on their hands --couldn't they make widgets or something?

A prediction:

I support Rudi, but I think Mitt Romney will win the nomination and will go on to win the general election. The reason: Democrats and other lefties will heap scorn on his Mormon religion, it will backfire on them, and this backlash will provide the crucial margin in an otherwise close election.

Hillary and Obama would know better than this, of course, as would James Carville, but their supporters in the media and leftist pop-culture just will not be able to restrain themselves. Mormons have been fair game for media pundits and "edgy" (that is, left orthodox) comedians for decades. It is part of the standard lefty shtick. People like Bill Maher and Ted Rall will be completely oblivious to the possbility of their progressive-approved irreverence being perceived as bigotry. Mitt will, in fact, be perceived as the target of a campaign of vilification and bigotry, and people will vote accordingly.

Karl Rove was on some radio show today (Hannity?). He said it will be Hillary vs...I think Romeny (was at work only half paying attention). He was very confident about a Republican win in November.

My take? A competent Demo could win (paging Bill Richardson) but they will elect a lefty rager. Someone so over the top...with themselves and with anti-conservative hatred, that the Republican should win (even if he doesn't deverve it). Remember, the far left already tnings all Republicans are bigots. The general population will realize that many Dems are anti-Christian bigots when election time comes around.

JFK was a good man. I am a retired RN, and as a student nurse, I had to take 12 weeks of studies at a State Hospital in Central Islip, NY. That was before JFK was in office, and it was disgraceful.

How will Romney win the swing states? He'll be destroyed by the Clinton machine.

The Clinton Machine is ruthless but I think its real power is overrated. It could well begin to work against itself in this campaign. In 1992, BJ won only because Ross Perot bled off a huge number of votes from Bush 41. In 1996, it won against the weakest GOP ticket since Alf Landon and even then by a less than overwhelming margin. Romney's candidacy is almost tailor-made for exposing the essential cruelty and hypocrisy of the left in this country.

Romney's business acumen is unassailable and that has an appeal to a big section of voters in both states. Adding to that is that his methods were not tough on the common worker but instead created many new jobs.

What? Are you kidding. NY and CA will never go for him. He's too Conservative for those states. He wouldn't even win Virginia or Florida. He has no cross over appeal. We'll be looking at a massive Democratic landslide.

It's early in the primary season, there's a long time left until November. If Romney gets the GOP nomination, he will do a lot better in states like CA than you think. There's a lot of money out here and people want to see the economy strong...especially the CA independents.

Well worth a peek:

The "Clash of Civilizations" According to Looney Toons, 1940

Something about the spy's signature was familiar: "Tattle-tale Gray".
Had to search while, but found it here:

They point out Bain Capital's dealing with the Chicoms and hang it around his neck. The Media will interview people who lost their jobs from companies Bain Capital took over. He'll be painted as a Corporate hack country club type. It will be a nightmare.

Romney's a big boy, he can take it.
McCain will be the nightmare...he can't win. Period!

378 Dave the.....  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 9:30:29pm
The Clinton Machine is ruthless but I think its real power is overrated. It could well begin to work against itself in this campaign.

Republicans may be stupid lately (big gov't for example) but one thing to consider...something we learned in 2004...all those Bush haters you see...buying the books, attending the protests, listening to Air America, going to Michael Moore movies, etc...it is the same group. The population isn't that over welming. If the Dems nominate a divisive person, and the Republican doesn't act too stupid...

379 PapaWolf  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 9:30:37pm

I would hesitate to refer to Romney as a country club Republican.

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

He is one of the most awesome managers to run for elective office. He has a track record of intolerance towards corruption. Go along to get along just doesn't seem to be his thing.

Bold attempts to persuade with Powerpoint presentations included is more likely.

Desert, I would like to think you are right, but the MSM is trying their hardest to push McCain down the throats of the Republicans as the only one with a chance of beating the Dhimmis. I think that's a bunch of crap, but a lot of Republicans seem to believe it. Worries me because I really don't think he is electable. .

My (American-Thai) sons remembered Heath Ledger from his role as the patriotic, courageous oldest son in the movie "The Patriot", set during the American Revolutionary War...

We're silently praying that Heath died accidentally... (even while I, as an adult, realize that he may have been a good ACTOR, and I must separate the ACTOR from the ROLE HE PORTRAYED)...

re: #381 nigella

I didn't think Romney was electable until he started winning a few primaries. Little by little he's catching on. And he's doing it the old fashion way, fighting for every vote...in every state. I kind of like that. I wasn't a big Romney fan in the beginning, but he's growing on me. He has a good chance of winning Florida. If he does, all bets are off. He will gain big time name recognition and immediately be the front runner.

It will also give him over 100 delegates, which will resonate.

Mitt, though always impressive, was not going to be my first choice either but with my guy bowing out he is by far the best left.

Yep, and if Rudy loses in Florida that will leave Romney and McCain. For me it's a no brainer. I respect McCain for his service, but I don't think he should lead this country.

Rodan, I have to agree with you on this one even though you would consider me very conservative.Just don't think Romney can win in this atmosphere.I'm not selling out, but I must face reality.Romney is not the right candidate at this time. Rudy, or God help us, McCain have a better shot of keeping Hillary or Obama from doing permanent damage to America. Hoping that a Democrat President will be removed in four years because they screw up so badly is wishful thinking. In those four years at least two maybe three Supreme Court justices will be decided. I can't take that chance.

re: #388 Rodan

Well, we will just have to disagree on this one.

We don't elect Senators for the Presidency. We haven't since 1960.
Hillary is a Senator.
McCain is a Senator.
Romney was a Governor. Do the math.

391 nigella  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 9:56:59pm

Desert, we also have never elected a woman or a halfrican for President either. That doesn't mean it's not possible to elect a Senator. How about a mayor?

I really have to go, but your words here have spoken volumes to me, and I must say this before I turn off the computer: Mandy, God loves you more than you can possibly imagine, and He has some wonderful surprises in store for you. I can't explain how I know this, but I do. This isn't about doctrine or Bible verses. It's about you. You are forgiven. Period. You will rejoice with your child in heaven forever. Get used to it.

re: #389 nigella

Folks, the political atmosphere has only too constants. Money and chaos. Executives must learn to deal with chaos. Managers learn do deal with money issues.

Romney can rightly refer to Hillary as no more experienced than an intern and her credentials to be useless. Obama also has drastic shortcomings in the arena. If the economy does tighten up, Romney becomes even more favored. Its not the "change" campaign alone.

394 DesertSage  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 10:08:48pm

re: #391 nigella

I would go for a Mayor because it's an executive position. I wish Rudy would have campaigned in the earlier states and not waited for Florida. It was a big gamble and I don't think it will work for him.

That leaves Romney and McCain as the last men standing. McCain is a big Washington insider just like Hillary. Not much difference there if you ask me.
If the race were between Hillary and Romney, at least we would have a real choice. Romney is a Washington outsider. He was a Governor (which people would rather vote for over a Senator)...from a blue state (which will bring in a lot of centrists and Reagan Democrats).
I think Romney stands a great chance against Hillary. In fact I think he trounces her!

395 PapaWolf  Wed, Jan 23, 2008 10:14:27pm

re: #394 DesertSage

I think that the Clinton machine will do ANYTHING to return to power. I believe that Mitt stands a better real chance against the Clinton's than McCain and slightly better than Rudy regardless of current polling #'s. We just will have to see.

re: #258 Pawn of the Oppressor

Well, while you may think it is a big joke, if Bush, had allowed the import of drugs from any other country, this tragic death would not have occurred.

So, it really is Bush's fault.

Elimination of import restrictions would have meant, importation of. less efficacious, drugs that were not as potent or perhaps that did not work at all.

Because Bush was protecting, the profits, of his friends in the BIG DRUG industry, accidental deaths probably take place every day, especially among the poor, the children, the women and the homeless in Hollywood. Few notice because they are too busy listening to guitar music, trading recipes or more interested in the fact that Britteny wore no panties.

Even so Bush was, is and will be to blame for anything that happens as well as those things that do not happen!

Heath Ledger Found Murdered by Bush in NYC Apartment

[Link: blamebush.typepad.com...]

That was fast! :-)

Scarier: Here's the google search header:
Results 11 - 20 of about 27,200 for blame bush for heath ledger.

Yep, it’s clear that Bush and his Big Ambien Buddies killed him.

It was simple job. First the Rovian mind rays depressed him.

Next, Rush's maid slip jars of Ambien and Valium into his apartment just before the masseuse man was to arrive.

Under the control of the Rovian mind rays he gulped down all the pills. Bam! Just a quick and painless "accident." Another Anti-war Hollywood Progressive gone.

Sure as shoot'n Dubya did it.

The Canadians possess even more EUroid tendencies than the original, down home, EUroids do.
What's going on up North is a reenactment of September, 1938 in Munich in a slow motion, "Ground Hog Day" style.
When are the EUroid Canadians going to pick them selvelves up off of their seated positions on their pots and realize that the Islamofascists are chipping away relentlessly at the cherished rights that took mankind nearly three thousand years to establish?
When? After the Canadian Government requires all citizens to be subject to the Muslim Tithe?
When? After public beheadings for infractions of Sharia Law become routine?

The Munich Agreeement is not really comparable to any of Canada's actions policies or actions concerning Islamofascism. Yes, Canada needs to reign in its insane HRC's, but Canada's largest Provinces (Ontario and Quebec) have rejected the use of Sharia Law to resolve legal disputes.
I think that the main problem with many Canadians and their MSM is that they choose to remain in denial of the extent of the Islamist threat. Also, most Canadians are (to a fault) polite, accommodating, non-violent and non-confrontational. In other words Canadians are too nice, unlike the French who are just plain cowardly.

Mr Zappa, I am astounded at the courtesy and soft voiced nature of the comments of my friend, the Senator from Tennessee. I can only say that I find your statement to be boorish, incredibly and insensitively insulting to the people who were here previously, that you could manage to give the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States a bad name, if I felt you had the slightest understanding of it, which I do not. -- - Senator Slade Gorton
