Kucinich Bails

Fri, Jan 25, 2008 at 9:23:35 am PST

The UFO candidate is dropping out of the race.

CLEVELAND - Democrat Dennis Kucinich is abandoning his second, long-shot bid for the White House as he faces a tough fight to hold onto his other job — U.S. congressman.

In an interview with Cleveland’s Plain Dealer, the six-term House member said he was quitting the race and would make a formal announcement on Friday.

“I will be announcing that I’m transitioning out of the presidential campaign,” Kucinich said. “I’m making that announcement tomorrow about a new direction.”

Shirley MacLaine will be devastated.

Good morning, Lizard nation. Computer problems keeping me out most of the early A.M.

I heard a great quote on Dennis Miller's radio talk show last night, regarding the Clinton's political tactics: If you find yourself in a fair fight, you have not prepared well enough.

Obviously Dennis Kucinich has spent too much time on Pluto to really get into the race.

It's one of the benefits of free speech. IMHO it works like this we allow the "nuts" to speak out even participate in the process. As a result their passions have a chance to vent. This prevents the pressure from building so to speak and such off the wall views never build to that critical mass where violence becomes the only outlet. A broad generalization, but another testament to the wisdom of the founders.

Why is it that VOTER FRAUD and SUPPRESSION has been claimed at virtually every Democrat Primary so far this year?

Can ANY Democrat EVER participate in an election without seeking to subvert the vote? Even among themselves?

Don't complain. A lot of loopy lefties sat out the vote last year because "the Republicans were just going to steal the election anyway." No joke, I saw this on a certain popular tech forum filled with allegedly intelligent people.

I say we bring Dark Lord Rove out of retirement and orchestrate some paranoia. You know, fabricate an e-mail or three that says Romney did business with Diebold, that sort of thing...

Kucinich married British citizen Elizabeth Harper, in 2005, ensuring his 2008 campaign would have one dramatic difference from his first campaign. Kucinich told New Hampshire audiences during the 2004 race that he was seeking a mate. Women then vied for a date with him during a contest arranged by a New Hampshire political Web site, but nothing romantic evolved from Kucinich's breakfast with the winner.

That's the saddest thing I've read so far today.

They're still around. You may not need the bottle-opener end for most beers, but some imports and some microbrews still are not twistoffs. As for the triangular puncturing end, they are still necessary for large cans of tomato or pineapple juice, even if beercans and sodacans now have pull-tops.

What is really hard to find is the kind of key that used be necessary for opening coffee cans and sardine tins.

Once dubbed the "boy mayor" of Cleveland, he made an unpopular decision to refuse to sell a publicly owned utility that pushed the city into default and drove him from office.

After the city's financial troubles, the mayor faced death threats, and was forced to wear a bulletproof vest when he threw out the first ball at a Cleveland Indians game. He barely survived a recall vote.

Wow- people really like him. What is it with mayors in Ohio? Between this guy and Jerry Springer....

How long has it been since churchkeys were used?

They're still around. You may not need the bottle-opener end for most beers, but some imports and some microbrews still are not twistoffs. As for the triangular puncturing end, they are still necessary for large cans of tomato or pineapple juice, even if beercans and sodacans now have pull-tops.

What is really hard to find is the kind of key that used be necessary for opening coffee cans and sardine tins.

Oooh! Oooh! Mr. Kotter! I have one of those. :o)
It's in my drawer for all the crap I hardly ever use but can't bring myself to throw out.

I also used to carry one of the little can openers (also referred to as a "church key") they used to put in C-ration packets to open the canned meats on my keychain, but the little blade kept unfolding and making holes in my pocket, so I stopped carrying it. (besides... with the newer cans, it became unnecessary)

Based on the people I have seen support him its mainly "apolitical" people who in normal times would just not vote, they just watch X-files, put nipple rings in their penii, and smoke dope while reading "the protocols". If he runs as an independent it will not effect the republicans at all, it will only siphon off democrat votes from the LLL who consider Billary to be a "warmonger" establishment candidate. I say him and Bloomberg and the hildebeast should run. It will guarantee a republican win.

And I used to be geeky enough to listen to the sequence of beeps and bings and tell you what speed it was going to connect at!
Is that sick, or what?

I remember that.
Listening to the modems auto-negotiate, and then a big burst of static, and you were "online".

Don't tell me I'm the only one here with dial up at home. Perhaps one day, DSL will be available in my neighborhood.

I still have a dialup account as an emergency backup for my cable. And I know several people (including an honest-to-god computer geek who writes "Cold Fusion" code for server based internet applications) who have dialup as their primary or only internet connection!

Was it a Twilight Zone or an Outer Limits (or was it a dream), these people wake up in a strange house and go outside and don't recognize things and it turns out that they are 'pets' in a model train like toy for a kid(giant). Do you remember this?

Oh, this is far, far more serious a packrattery problem than that!
Saws, drills, hammers, and screwdrivers are useful tools, even if you only find a use for them once a year or so...
I'm talking about stuff that hasn't been used for (or even had a use in existance for...) several years... perhaps decades. The type of thing that people stumble across in the drawer and exclaim: "Holy $#!t... I haven't seen one of these since I lived in the dorms!"

When disaster strikes, you will be prepared. In the post-apocalyptic dystopia, the Man With the Church Key will rule.

You mean... I'm a closet survivalist?!?! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I do remember this, and I dimly think that it is a TZ, because I think it also made it into the four-part TZ movie. But I could be wrong. Even so, I think it is TZ.
Or perhaps I only recall reading it--ah, this sounds likely. Will research.

Seems we all have to go through a pretentious phase. Enough already!

281 Kostya Lotz  Fri, Jan 25, 2008 10:52:51am

Okay Kids, heres the plan...
Dennis! (his campaign signs read this way) is my congressman. He's a dufus. A complete and total nut-roots whack-job who has over spent his 15 min. of fame. When he married the hot babe, he should have quietly finished is term, taken the retirement dough and moved to Maui, since he likes to spend all his "free-time" there anyway. So let's help him out OHIO!
1. Ohio is a modified Primary state in March 4 '08.
this means it is open to independents as well as confirmed party members. It also means that in a presidential year (this one), you can cross party vote.
2. Vote swarm against Dennis! I strongly encourage readers of LGF in the OHIO CD10 to support by vote only, Joe Cimperman. Joe has been an able Cleveland City Councilman and a supporter of economic recovery for the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. He has also been significantly more moderate in Defeatocrat policy.
3. Do not support the other Candidates for Dennis! seat. They are all considerably more hard nut-wing and they are only there as spoilers to help ensure His UFOness is returned to the seat of objectionable power.
4. Ignore the Republican primary "battle" for CD10. There is none. The only credible candidate is Jim Trakas. If you look at Jim's website you'll notice that there ain't-a-hole-lot-there. He's waiting to see who he'll compete against. In November we'll have a slug fest.

This our best chance to end the tyranny of stupidity. We can cut him off at the knees in March this way! Even if we (Red state folk) lose in November, the Anti-Dennis! will be much better to deal with. He will actually do some work for his district.

Shoes for Thought! Shoes for Action! Shoes for Democracy!

290 TIM C  Fri, Jan 25, 2008 11:21:46am

Dennis had to get out now, he is in a dogfight with another strong Democrat for the Primary. Actually he is being challenged by 4 Democrats for the seat.

The Main contender has raised a fair amount of money and is now placing TV ads out. DENNIS! is in serious need of cash, he put out a lame video seeking contributions of at least $100 and help to raise $1,000.

Keep an eye out on March 4th, here in Cuyahoga County, Ohio you might not see Kucinich's name first in the vote totals.

People are very unhappy with him in the Democratic Party here in the 10th District.

Dennis Kucinich:

It’s been a long successful galactic journey – financially speaking. But, I have milked my donors dry. I barely have enough money left to make the “Kucinich-Roswell Foundation” a reality.

Or, possibly I could stash the rest in Swiss bank account for a rainy day.

Thank you for your support.

re: #77 Pawn of the Oppressor

I used to grudgingly respect him, because I thought his insanity was genuinely cultivated, but then I read an article a few months ago about his history as a vulgar race-baiting triangulator, so now he's just in the FOAD category with all the other sleazeweasels.

If you're talking about the article in the Cleveland Scene, that was a very good introduction into the political career of the little quisling, but it was far from complete. It didn't include items like the divorce settlement with his last wife which stated she could never talk to the media about their relationship. The laziness of the MSM has never been on greater display in their lack of coverage of his willingness to do anything for personal gain. He's facing the first serious challenge to his congressional seat and I hope the voters finally wake up and send him packing because he's never done a thing for them economically and the district reflects that. He does represent a lot of lowlives and dead-enders that consider a vote for him "sticking it to the man". Organized labor votes in lockstep for him despite the fact that no jobs have been created in his district. That he has made a career of being in political office while acting like a lunatic is one of the failures of our system.

303 chair  Sat, Jan 26, 2008 4:19:09pm

“I will be announcing that I’m transitioning out of the presidential campaign,” Kucinich said. “I’m making that announcement tomorrow about a new direction.”

Should read: "I've got my matching funds, so I'm going on vacation. The idiots in my district will re-elect me to Congress"
