-Retweetcameras in the courtroom

At Yahoo, the AP videos page has footage of those suspected Palestinian collaborators who were shot by masked Al Aqsa goons, writhing in agony on the ground as a large crowd stands around and watches.

I don't like the term collaborators. As this WSJ editorial make clear, these are the true moderates who we should be doing business with...

[Link: www.opinionjournal.com...]

So lets call them their real names -- either moderates or peace-activists.

As for the large crowd standing around watching, that's not surprising.

I think it actually shows they were intimidated and somewhat shocked by the whole process.

Probably thinking 'there but for the grace of Allah go I"

Otherwise, they'd have been passing out candies, and doing the palestinian version of line dancing, just like on 9/11 or when an exploding murderer kills jews.

3 file13  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 9:57:50am

Some of these people have stood up to Arafat and his goons, are sick of the constant endless violence, hand over evidence of murderers among their community, and are faithful to whatever peaceful principles of Islam and Christianity apply to the situation...

and they're killed for it.

I'm thinking of a word... try to guess what it is by the partof the definition that might just apply to this situation:

"2: a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle."

Oh, Arafat's making martyrs alright. It's just that you can't make them in suicide bomber camps and terror campaigns against the innocent civilians of your enemies. If there's any martyrs in this conflict among the Palestinians, it's those that Arafat has killed for their desire for peace.

4 Eric the CR  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 10:00:46am

martyrs, it is then. I just think we should get the terminology right.

5 Tyson  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 10:16:06am

Poor wretched bastard. These are the real heroes.

Do you see that blood, U.N.? That's blood you helped spill.

I'm sure someone in the Arab media will spin this as Zionist terrorism.

6 Thurman Faulk  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 10:18:01am

I agree that they're martyrs, but dying for one's principles doesn't necessarily make those principles valid. There've been a great many martyrs throughout history who've died for more noble causes.

Here's an interesting little story about the guy being held by Israel that these purported collaborators were shot full of holes for giving up.

Looking at the AP headline, I was sure there'd be accusations of beatings, starvation, god knows what else.

It turns out the israelis are interrogating him for 18 hours at a time.

Doesn't seem so bad, for a guy who knows where the next exploding murderer is going to strike.

He even has access to a lawyer.

Listening to Rumsfeld talking about the Al Qaida higher up in the US's possession, and the info he's givng them, or about to give them, I wonder how much sleep he's getting.

The right word is "dissident." The question is where are Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International?

9 Eric the CR  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 11:12:40am

Amnesty and HRW are too busy investigating the Jews. Which brings up an interesting point.

Does anyone know if these organizations paid any attention to Soviet dissidents during the Cold War? I remember them only really interested in Latin America (ie where America was teh bad guy).

10 Newbom  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 11:13:17am

Perfect example of a cannon fodder. No trial, no hearing, just accuse someone of collaborating and murder them in public. That will do a very fine job of convincing Palestinians to toe the line.

11 Robert Schwartz  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 11:21:10am

What are the odds against this item getting any real attention from the maistream media?

12 c powell  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 11:28:21am

Wonder how long until we see the Chairman himself hauled out and gunned down by the fanatics. One would anticipate this immediately after any peace agreement with the Israelis.

Sadat redux.

13 Michael Glazer  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 12:13:33pm

You better save that video AP is known to remove this stuff when the PLO force them to take off this stuff that makes them look bad like this page that has some stuff they removed in the past

Given some of the ages - if and when their names and ages are printed - that some of these "collaborators" are probably sucide bomber draft dodgers.

I wonder if any of the brave and bold media types in the MidEast will investigate the issue.

Nah

15 Front Range Lee  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 12:51:49pm

Benjamin Netanyahu has it exactly right in his piece in the WSJ.com Opinion Journal “The Root Cause of Terrorism It's tyranny” this past Friday. The root cause of terrorism is totalitarianism, not poverty or hopelessness or even deprivation of national and civic rights. How do the tyrants keep their subjects in line? How do they brainwash them? Public executions are one sure way.

16 Michael Glazer  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 2:57:26pm

The root cause of terrorism is success.

17 Joel Rosenberg  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 3:12:21pm

Michael: yup. And Arik Sharon is doing his level best to cut those roots out; he'd do more without having to carry Colin Powell on his back.

18 Fountpix  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 3:37:42pm

Call me crazy, but shouldn't the qquestion be asked: How is it that terrorist were able to operate with impugnity from U.N. Refugee camps? Shouldn't that be investigated. What U.N. officials okayed the use of U.N. land for terrorist bomb making factories and as a sanctuary for various terrorist organizations to launch their attacks?

Is it not against U.N. regulations to use their refugee camps for these purposes? Should not those who allowed these activities be investigated and held accountable? Or does the U.N. sanction terrorism when it is directed at the only Jewish member state?

I think it is high time that the U.N. was investigated for its anti-Israeli bias and the appropriate parties be held accountable. Roed-Larsen should be hung out to dry. He is a rabid anti-Semite and Jew hater.

Unlike the digusting display of palestinian justice on the video, here's a hilarious little bit of justice being carried out in Arafat's Bunker:

Maine's Michael - That has got to be wackier than old reruns of "Night Court" where they're cooped up because of some snowstorm or flood or disaster...

Well, that is if the role of Harry Stone were played by a cold-blooded killer instead of a goofy stage magician. Oh, and if Bull Shannon were replaced by a cold-blooded killer. Can't forget Bull, you know.

Damn.. forgot Selma. She's played by a cold-blooded killer too.And after she died, that other old chick... and even Roz... despite the hair color and race difference, one good cold-blooded killer could do those roles.

Same with Dan Fielding, Mac, and Markie Post's character...

I guess this isn't as wacky and fun as I thought. They're just a room full of cold-blooded killers playing at a mock trial or something.

21 kathy napier  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 5:16:45pm

Where's the news coverage and outrage over the shooting of the unfortunate Palestinian "collaborators"? I have to search the web to find the "real news" anymore. "Disinformation" is alive and well.

22 Aaron  Mon, Apr 22, 2002 8:18:56pm

I found this somewhere in that link to pieces that have been removed from circulation posted by Michael Glazer.

[Link: www.gamla.org.il...]

It shows the executions of two 'collaborators.' It absolutely makes me sick. I'd never actually seen someone shot in the face before...

23 Eric the CR  Tue, Apr 23, 2002 4:27:26am

Everyone will be happy to know that the news wires are covering this. But, of course, they have a slightly diffrernt angle.

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

"Fears of lawlesness in the W. Bank" reports the AP.

The fact that the killers are from Al Aksa -- shows that this is not lawlessness these are the cops!

24 Michael Glazer  Tue, Apr 23, 2002 4:52:33am

- Aaron - Guess who is being investigated for 'human rights' abuses? Not those guys or any group in the PLO but, you got it, the Israelis? The UN, EU, OPEC, and CIAR (major media) focus their attention on the jewish people. Did you know 2/3 of all UN resolutions passed in thier entire existence (they pass a lot) were in order to condem Israel for one thing or another. The UN is responsible for lots of PLO towns (eg Jenin), not only do they physically help the PLO, on the ground, with the red cross and other international agencies they also have legally supported the PLO. The Muslim Northern Sudanese enslaving and murder of christians Southern Sudanese, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Iran's tortures executions are alll ignored or okayed. The group gang up on Israel is unheard of since the entire world was complicit in the murder of the Jews in the holocaust in WWII. Anti-semitism is scapegoating. Scapegoating is the tactic of rules refocusing anger of the masses against a easily attackable and identifiable minority to deflect the onus of responsibility for woes where it really belongs.

That is why, especially, in the arab world, the formal egyptian gaza and the formal jordanian judea and samaria are th entire focus of all the arab tyrants and despots.

The U.S. is seeking the death penalty for Brian P. Regan, a wannabe spy. He attempted spying but never succeeded. Criticisms of the PA for executing collaborators should also apply to the USA when we do stupid things like seeking the death penalty for idiots like Regan.

26 Charles  Tue, Apr 23, 2002 7:59:03am

I’m sorry, people, but my patience has run out. If you don’t want to see me get mad, skip this comment.

EdG: with all due respect, you, sir, are a fucking moron.

Brian Regan will get a trial. How dare you compare democratic due process and trial by jury to the barbarism on display in the Palestinian Authority? He isn't being dragged into the street and shot, then strung up from a lamp post while people cheer and bring their children to watch.

You ass. Is it really too much to ask people like you to think before opening your mouths? Yes, it probably is.
