-RetweetIRC anti-semitism

Wed, Apr 24, 2002 at 8:03:06 am PDT

Here’s a little background information on one of the UN’s “fact-finding” team members, the former president of the International Red Cross Cornelio Sommaruga.

Addressing a meeting of the International Red Cross (IRC) Dr. Bernadine Healy, the brave president of the American Red Cross, attacked the IRC, then headed by Sommaruga, for refusing to accept the Magen David Adom.

Healy stood alone.

Sommaruga defended the policy.

In fact, later that day he told Healy that "if we're going to have the Shield of David, why would we not have to accept the swastika?"

And here is Charles Krauthammer’s article about Sommaruga’s disgusting remark, and the disgraceful history of the IRC.

Do you think the inclusion of a known anti-Semite like Sommaruga on the “fact-finding” team might have something to do with Israel’s decision to deny them access? Just maybe?

I guess we are lucky that such dignitaries as Saddam Hussein and Arafat are not the on the "fact-finding" mission.

In the UN tyrants and democracies all have the same equal vote. Its that same story about what is right and what is wrong who is to say?

here is a good example with Dan Rather:
[Link: www.aish.com...]

It is title " Since Arabs view the world differently, who's to say that we're right and they're wrong?" Epitomozign how mroal relativism from democratic-liberals and leftists has permeated our society and major media markets from the 90s PC revolution onslaught.

I guess the founders of America should have put in the constiution "murder is wrong." Do you think George Washington ever thought we, as a society, would ever become that removed from reality and emasculated to the point that Dan Rather imitates? Meaning, having even the simplest courage to say murder of umarmed civilians is wrong? I guess multi-millionaires don't need to choose moral sides.

I just heard a comment from someone at work criticizing Israel over the UN observers. After all, he said, it's the UN.

Once again, the UN looks like a legitimate institution, because we stay in and pay our money to a virtual dictators club.

The UN is a mafioso, like the EU, OPEC, and CAIR.

A bunch of arab tyrants vote how they like and bully others to do the same.

I have a odd feeling that this will bite the UN in the ass. I think the publicity of the Jenin probe will turn into the probe on the UN of how they allowed the Jjenin to be a teror camp for so long.

Once again Israel holds the moral ground with their hands tied behind their backs. Just like when they bombed the Iraqi Nuclear factories.

Just have faith that god works in mysterious ways and everything happens for a reason.

We need to add a helping hand by changing the focus to the UN's complicitness in the 'Jenin terror camp' by turning up the rhetoric and heat on them. That would be a good way to help Israel and your good deed for the day.

Sadly, Dr. Healy did follow part of the advice given in the Krauthammer article, and lost her post, in part, because of it. She did refuse to pay the IRC dues to protest the policy regarding Israel. This led to complaints by the IRC to the US Red Cross Board. They cravenly heeded, and helped force Dr. Healy out of the job. Their argument (without too much irony) was that the Red Cross was no place for politics

The hypocrisy of the IRC is almost as stunning as the UN, the UNHRC, and the various NGO abuse organizations. With the IRC, they regularly request and receive assistance and expertise from the MDA in many instances of aiding victims of terror and wars. The MDA is probably the best in the world, because of their constant work in Israel (and the West Bank).

I have to disagree Michael, this will not bite the UN on the ass.

The Jenin probe will make a couple of stunning, heavily covered pronouncements at the outset. The initial pronouncements will be heavily biased against Israeli innocence of a massacre, and exculpatory of any UN role in helping Jenin be the haven for Palestinian terrorists. This will be used as propaganda by the anti-Israel Euros and the Arab countries.

Then, nothing. A quiet report will be issued in a year or two, showing Israel did nothing wrong in the incursion. The report will attempt to whitewash Palestinian street and building booby trappings. THe conclusion of the report will probably just condemn Israel for entering Jenin in the first place.

I am starting to suspect that there will be a major shakeout among international non-governmental organizations within a year. Some of them may get the designation "terrorist-supporting" under American law.

Chas is right: in order for this to bite the UN in the ass, the investigators would have to show some courage.

Since surrendering your balls and your brains to the nearest Arab fascist seems to be a prerequisite for UN work, we shouldn't expect much.

"Do you think the inclusion of a known anti-Semite like Sommaruga on the “fact-finding” team might have something to do with Israel’s decision to deny them access? Just maybe?"

If this is such a problem, why don't the Israelis say so?

11 Charles  Wed, Apr 24, 2002 12:39:27pm

Bill: maybe you expect Ariel Sharon to call you personally?

Or are you saying that you don’t see anything wrong with Sommaruga’s comment?

12 Michael Glazer  Wed, Apr 24, 2002 2:05:40pm

- Bill - At least 3/4 of the friggin world is anti-semitic, some more openly than others, as we can now clearly see in any of the world's major media markets.

Does that mean ignore the fact? Hell no! But realize this and not be shocked by it each and everytime; know it, own it, learn it, beat it.

13 Michael Glazer  Wed, Apr 24, 2002 2:07:56pm

- chas - I will not be surprised. If there is one thing I've learned in history. Israelis/Jewish people are definetely the underdog to bet on. I will always defer to the Israelis over any other counter claim and come out 9 times out of ten correct without any sweat.

14 James  Fri, Apr 26, 2002 6:58:39am

Bill, Israel has said so. They've objected to the inclusion of specific members, such as Sommaruga and also the lack of military experts for a probe of what was a military operation. Should dentists be sent in to investigate a baseball scandal? Exactly.

Naturally the catch-22 is, since when do 'the accused' get to choose their investigators? So Israel is damned every which way. Nice set up, huh?
