Something I forgot to mention -- pirates. Hear a lot about Dubai and how modern it is? 20 miles north east of Dubai, a woman was stoned to death last week and in another week someone else is going to be beheaded. A friend of mine from Egypt had a beer and drove home from my place. He was stopped, asked if he had anything to drink (they do blood tests on the spot and if you have any alcohol in your system, I mean any, game over). He responded in the affirmative, and they told him the penalty for being Muslim and drinking was 80 lashes. He told them he was going to convert to Christianity. The cop said "Then we will cut off your head." He took the lashes. His back was and is a mess.
