Democrat NY Governor Admits Involvement in Prostitution Ring

Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 11:28:47 am PDT

The Democratic governor of New York, Eliott Spitzer, has admitted to senior officials that he is involved in a prostitution ring.

Did I mention this is a Democrat? I did? Oh, OK. I’m taking a cue from the media, who always make sure to identify Republicans caught in scandals with 80-point headlines. It’s all about accuracy.

UPDATE at 3/10/08 11:37:50 am:

The word “Democrat” does not appear in this Associated Press article: NY governor linked to prostitution ring.

UPDATE at 3/10/08 11:58:35 am:

The word “Democrat” does not appear in this CNN article: N.Y. Times: New York governor linked to prostitution - CNN.com.

UPDATE at 3/10/08 12:05:04 pm:

Spitzer is a Kos Kid: Daily Kos :: Diaries - Eliot Spitzer.

UPDATE at 3/10/08 12:17:30 pm:

He just finished a very short statement and did not officially resign.

If only it were not for this:

As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“”This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. ”It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

It's so strange how the liberal/left Dems go crazy for the Clinton's corruption and immoral hypocritical behavior. They not only approve, they applaud it. I blame the SNL "I - am - bullet - proof" skit. Somehow pop culture gave Bill and Hillary a lifetime "get away with anything" award.

"Democrats are open minded, free spirited people who don't have sexual hangups.

Republicans are Victorian era, sexually repressed, close minded dullards who fear (yes - it is all about fear) their own sexuality.

When a Democrat gets caught in a sex scandal, it is OK - they are just being free spirits. When a Republican gets caught in a sex scandal it reinforces the fact that Republicans are hypocritical and sexually repressed."

I'm very Libertarian on this issue since I researched the issue in high School a long time ago.

Someone explain to me how it becomes a Government's business in a free society. This is not street prostitution. This is not about quality of life. Why does law enforcement even have the resources to go after something of this nature?

Who are all the other movers and shakers who can afford such fees? Do we really want to make them all criminals for such an offense?

We always consider the families. What about single men, old men, ugly men? What about their biological imperative for sex?

Imagine if you were denied sex by your situation and had no other outlet.

Prostitution will always exist and making men criminals for engaging is cruel and unusual punishment.

re: #156 WriterMom

What a suprise, a liberal hypocrite.

Did you see this hypocrisy in the Cleveland Plain Dealer? Remember the Dems and Indies crossing over to vote McCain so they could pick the Repub candidate (someone they think they can beat)? Well, now, in Ohio, they're thinking about prosecuting the Republicans who crossed over to vote for Hill.

At least one member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections wants to investigate some Republicans who may have crossed party lines only to influence which Democrat would face presumed Republican nominee John McCain in November.

Those who crossed lines were supposed to sign a pledge card vowing allegiance to their new party.
...

Lying on the pledge is a felony, punishable by six to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
...
In a nutshell, here's how it's supposed to work: Ohio voters are allowed to switch party affiliations on the day of a primary election but only if they sign a pledge vowing to support their new party - and mean it.

NEW YORK (AP) %u2015 Today is "International Women's Day," and Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his wife Silda Wall Spitzer are paying tribute to women who played a role in the fight for justice and equality in the U.S.

The Governor says that New York women were and continue to be leaders in the struggle, organizing the historic 1848 Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls and tirelessly working to change the Constitution until they won the right to vote less than a century ago.

He noted that New York was the place where the first female doctor was appointed, and where tens of thousands of women first unionized.

He says the list of notable women in New York history is as rich and diverse as New York itself, and proclaimed March 2008 "Women's History Month.

#206 ... Thanks Fenway Nation ... Back in the 1960's. Tony C was the man. I still have an autographed photo of him on the wall in my office.

That is awesome!

I'm out on the West/Left coast now but a friend of mine has a brother that works in a tavern in Beacon Hill that occasionally visited by Bobby Orr and his son. Last summer, he passed along a personalized, autographed 16X20 B&W 'Flying Bobby' photo to me....my name on it and everything.

When the wildfires struck back in October, it was the first thing I packed up when I had to evacuate.

Gov. Spitzer, Wife Mark Women's History Month

Prostitution will always exist and making men criminals for engaging is cruel and unusual punishment.

Why only men?

And don't forget the roles it seems the US Democrats play in the FARC files

AP

A mediation role for Garcia Marquez on behalf of U.S. Democrats is detailed in a letter dated Aug. 23 to members of the secretariat from the FARC's chief ideologue, Alfonso Cano.
"Garcia Marquez is in charge of this mediation with the FARC on behalf of the USA, and these people want Panama to be the country through which talks with the FARC occur."
The letter says "Clinton told Garcia Marquez in Cartagena, 'I want to have a personal effort. I want to help Colombia. An agreement with the FARC should be sought.'" Garcia Marquez, 80, and Clinton became friends during the latter's presidency and are known to have met in Cartagena, Colombia, in March 2007 at an homage to the 1982 Nobel laureate in literature.

It smelled like turpentine, and looked like Indian ink.
I held my nose, I closed my eyes, I took a drink!

But.

Scenario 2: The guy DOESN'T resign. Keeps babbling about "change" in the state of New York and "progressive" opportunity for all. And suddenly he's the Typhoid Mary of politics, smearing something nasty all over his whole party.

I apologize to the public whom I promised better. I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals. It is about ideas, the public good and doing what is best for the State of New York. But I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard that I expect of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family. I will not be taking questions. Thank you very much. I will report back to you in short order. Thank you very much.

This is truely an even more scummy evasion than "depends on your definition of `is`."

So, its not really about him anyway so if he is an ass in his private life it should not reflect on his mission.

I actually happen to have no problem with this type of exchange and I think the number of men who do not some time in their life step out (maybe women to) is very, very tiny.

Sayyid Qutb was outraged by a CHURCH SOCIAL DANCE when he visited the US in the 1950s.

Their hatred cannot be explained rationally. Do not make that mistake.

And he was outraged by unsweetened tea & salted watermelon. Which make a lot more sense.

Will Spitzer remain a Superdelegate?

ALBANY, N.Y. -- While candidates are out trying to gain delegates in primaries and caucuses across the country, there is still talk of how the super delegates will play a role in who will become the democratic presidential nominee.

A super delegate is a current or former elected office holder or party official and the vote of a super delegate carries more weight. These votes may be called upon to make history at this year's Democratic national convention. On the list of super delegates is former President Bill Clinton, Senator Chuck Schumer and Governor Elliot Spitzer.

We caught up with Spitzer for his take on super delegates and where his loyalties lie.

“We have to see how it plays out. I think there's still time to go. There will be additional primaries and then there will be some time for reflection and an examination on what super delegate should do. I am pledged to Hillary Clinton. Hillary won New York, so in my case it's an easy choice. I can not only reflect my pledge but that of New Yorkers," said Spitzer.

Doesn't matter, we could become the most pure, modest and chaste society over night and the jihadis would still lust for our destruction.

You've missed the irony. The ante-war left accuses the right of stirring up the hated of the jihadis by involving ourselves in the middle east. Yet the jihadis claim that it is decadent western culture that provokes them as well and proves they are righteous. I'm just rubbing the left's nose in it's own pile. Only men can cheat on their wives.

Women cannot cheat on men.

Tha's at least what our LLL cultural elites would have us beleive.

In film or literature, for example, whenver a man has sex outside his marriage, he is pig.

But when a women does, (see Bridges OVer Mad COuntry), it's because the husband is flawed and she can only find true love outside her marriage.

734 tokyobk  Mon, Mar 10, 2008 1:00:35pm
"Most experts do consider the 'educated guess' that at the present time some 50 to 65 percent of husbands and 45 to 55 percent of wives become extramaritally involved by the age of 40 to be a relatively sound and reasonable one." According to Peggy Vaughan, author of The Monogamy Myth, first published in 1989 by Newmarket Press (third edition published 2003).
Conservative infidelity statistics estimate that “60 percent of men and 40 percent of women will have an extramarital affair. These figures are even more significant when we consider the total number of marriages involved, since it's unlikely that all the men and women having affairs happen to be married to each other. If even half of the women having affairs (or 20 percent) are married to men not included in the 60 percent having affairs, then at least one partner will have an affair in approximately 80 percent of all marriages. With this many marriages affected, it's unreasonable to think affairs are due only to the failures and shortcomings of individual husbands or wives."

Not advocating it, just based on what I saw in America and even more so in Japan, I think most men cheat and the ones who don`t struggle against their wiring not to.
