Spambot Update: Denied

Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 10:20:18 am PDT

Here’s an update to yesterday’s report on the spambot infestation at LGF, attacking our contact form and “email an article” form: both forms have been available and active since yesterday afternoon, and not one spam email has gotten through since I installed the token-based method (using the jQuery Javascript library) outlined on this page.

The technique is an Ajax adaptation of a secure login method described by Chris Shiflett in his excellent book: Essential PHP Security. If you’re developing PHP web applications, this slim, very concise book should be on your shelf. You’ll need to be fairly fluent in PHP before reading it; it isn’t going to teach you the language, and it assumes you know how to read and understand PHP code. But it has helped me enormously in the design and programming of the LGF Blog Engine, and I recommend it highly.

Also, it has a monitor lizard on the cover.

OT but as I was browsing through the links up above, i was struck by the one about the Islamic call to prayer from the clocktower at the universiry in Miami .
?

I get that in the 7ty century the common folk had no clocks but now, excuse me, check your %^%$# watch! And stop making a holy show of your so called prayer/ religiosity.

Sorry but this just isn't necessary at all!

A while back somebody here suggested putting up their own loudspeaker system and playing the "Tarzan" yell immediately after the call to "prayer". I think that would at least put things in perspective... :-)

I'm sure that would go over just as well....

You may have some kind of anti-virus software that's messing with your cookies, or the browser may be refusing them or deleting them. Check all settings. Also, the 'remember' cookie has an expiration time of 7 days, so if you don't hit the site with that browser for a week you'll need to log in again.

My name is Mandy and I'm an addict.

Tense? Angry? Can't get online? Internet addiction is now a serious public health issue that should be officially recognised as a clinical disorder, according to a leading psychiatrist.

Excessive gaming, viewing online pornography, emailing and text messaging have been identified as causes of a compulsive-impulsive disorder by Dr Jerald Block, author of an editorial for the respected American Journal of Psychiatry. Block argues that the disorder is now so common that it merits inclusion in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the profession's primary resource to categorise and diagnose mental illnesses. He says internet addiction has four main components:

· Excessive use, often associated with a loss of sense of time or a neglect of basic drives;

· Withdrawal, including feelings of anger, tension and/or depression when the computer is inaccessible;

· The need for better computers, more software, or more hours of use;

· Negative repercussions, including arguments, lying, poor achievement, social isolation and fatigue.

If you answer 'yes' to five or more of these questions, you may have an internet addiction.

· Do you feel preoccupied with the internet? (Think about your online activity or anticipate your next online session.)

· Do you need increasing amounts of time on the net in order to achieve satisfaction?

· Have you repeatedly made unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back or stop internet use?

· Do you feel restless, moody, depressed, or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop internet use?

· Do you stay online longer than originally intended?

· Have you jeopardised or risked the loss of a significant relationship, job, educational or career opportunity because of the internet?

· Have you lied to family members, a therapist or others to conceal the extent of your involvement with the internet?

· Do you use it to escape from problems (eg, feelings of helplessness, guilt, anxiety, depression)?

OK, here's a joke:

Three guys, one from Maryland, one from Virginia, and one from West Virginia are out fishing. They look out across the lake and see the figure of a man walking on the water towards their boat. The man walks up to the boat, steps aboard, and asks the Marylander "do you have any pain or injury?" The Marylander says "yeah, I got this bum knee" So the man touches the knee and heals it. He turns to the Virginian and asks "do you have any pain or injury?" to which the Virginian answers "yeah, I have this sore shoulder" and the man touches the shoulder and heals it. Finally the man turns to the West Virginian who cowers in the back of the boat and screams:

"YOU STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME - I'M ON PERMANENT DISABILITY!"

Perversion of justice if you asked me. If they don't want the Death Penalty to be the "time"/punishment, they should do what is legally necessary and have legislation disallow it. Instead they do what they always do, and just have the activist judges skirt the actual law and rule how they want.

Neither is the prospect of a prison term up to life without parole, apparently, since we still have murders.

Since no threat of punishment is a deterrent, I guess we should just make murder legal.

In fact, why not make everything that's currently illegal legal? We could reduce the crime rate by 100%, and save tons of money to use for more important thing, like paying for free abortions.

What's most important is what's inside the woman.

Namely, me.

I'm using Safari too (3.1), and I have several test accounts I use with different browsers. Haven't been able to duplicate any cookie problems.

Hi Charles,

I actually enjoy your little tech updates throughout that other regular stuff(Even though I'm not in the tech field). I love the other content but these are always a good change of pace. Just curious as to what set up you have. I'm on a PC here at work but use a Macbook Pro running Safari 3.1 at home.

btw I've had the cookie problems as well. And haven't had those problems with other sites. I thought it was just me. I'll check and see if It's doing the same thing at home on my MBP. I'm now running all kinds of anti-virus stuff here after getting a virus from "updating flash" which apparently wasn't...I don't know. Anyway, it seemed like it did it before the anti-virus stuff. But I can't say for sure. Either way no big deal really.

I get a kick out of the "The Death Penalty is a faulire because it doesn't deter murder." argument.

Hello..... Mcfly.... It isn't a deterrant because of scum like you who fight to make sure that the CONVICT doesn't get executed for a few decades and has a plethora of appeals.

Death IS a deterrant.... just look at the reduction of crime following the ability to get a concealed carry permit in EVERY state that it has been introducted into.

Alternatively, the "death penalty is a failure...." reasoning could be turned on its head and applied to any sentence, for any crime. Life in prison, or 5, 10, 15, 20 years, etc. doesn't deter crime, since crime still happens, even in the face of those potential penalties.

Bottome line, crime will always exist. Regardless, we need to do what we can to both deter and punish criminals.

How about equal punishment alone.

I would like the Death Penalty to deter murder, but I'm happy with is simply as a punishment for Murder.

If it were my daughter, that business would catch fire.

I suspect Mandy, that any daughter of yours, would not have run away in the first place, and had she done so, would not have sought refuge with people that would have her stripping at a club at the age of 12.

Did you catch the Mother saying her daughter was 12 and looked 20? That explains a lot, but the club owner was flat out stupid for not checking ID and verifying her age. He should lose the license for that, but it looks like Texas (or the County) left a gaping loophole in the law.

The two "top forensic scientists" (ever notice that these bottom-feeders are always described as "top"?) have the crazed, loony look of Fred Leuchter, the "there-were-no-gas-chambers-at-Auschwit z" nutbar.

The tape they played sounded a banshee practicing a squealing-tire imitation; they could imagine as many shots as they like from it--or hear a voice saying "I buried Paul."

Was there a grassy knoll inside the Ambassador Hotel?

The newsfolk muse on the reluctance of law enforcement to reopen the case 40 years later. If this waits over one more year, it will be too late for "hot pursuit" of the real killer.

Why don't these "top scientists"--and "top newspeople"--just join the Troofer movement already, if their lives are so empty that they need to fill them with conspiracies? Or, why don't they consider investigating the terrorist ties of "Palestinian" candidate assassin Sirhan Sirhan?

You got it.

Dutch ex-Muslim producing The Life of Muhammad

The Hague - Former Dutch Labour Party politician Ehsan Jami, the founder of the Committee of ex-Muslims, has announced that he is producing an anti-Islamic cartoon called The Life of Muhammad. It will be released on the 20th of April. The film will show a sexually aroused Prophet Muhammad with his nine-year-old wife Aisha.

Members of the Dutch Muslim and government contact organisation, CMO, who have viewed a section of the film, say they will go to court in an attempt to have The Life of Muhammad banned. The organisation has described the film as totally unacceptable and extremely offensive.

This wave of criticism should have started years ago after Theo was killed.

It occurs to me, as I'm sure that it must have to some of you, that were I convinced that the Democrats would be half so ruthless, so vicious, so win-at-any-cost oriented towards the terrorists as they are towards each other and any conservative ideas that heave into sight I'd vote for one in a minute.

But I'm not, so I won't.

For just a taste of their viciousness, as if any more proof were needed, check out the comments on the George Will article at the WaPo -

Bleeding Hearts but Tight Fists

It's like holding a cross up to a vampire to show the proof that conservatives are more generous monetary givers than are liberals. They are hissing and seething -

Residents of Austin, home of Texas's government and flagship university, have very refined social consciences, if they do say so themselves, and they do say so, speaking via bumper stickers. Don R. Willett, a justice of the state Supreme Court, has commuted behind bumpers proclaiming "Better a Bleeding Heart Than None at All," "Practice Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Beauty," "The Moral High Ground Is Built on Compassion," "Arms Are For Hugging," "Will Work (When the Jobs Come Back From India)," "Jesus Is a Liberal," "God Wants Spiritual Fruits, Not Religious Nuts," "The Road to Hell Is Paved With Republicans," "Republicans Are People Too -- Mean, Selfish, Greedy People" and so on. But Willett thinks Austin subverts a stereotype: "The belief that liberals care more about the poor may scratch a partisan or ideological itch, but the facts are hostile witnesses."

re: #269 formercorpsman

I like the video, and am not looking for specific preferential attention. But you cannot discuss Islamism's War against the West without acknowledging that the attacks aganist Israel are the front lines of this War.

Israel is not a "specific case" different than the U.S., England, Bali, Mogadishu, Sudan, Moracco, etc., so it shouldn't be treated as such.

But for some reason when one discusses Islamism's War against the West they separate Israel from the equation, and thus legitimize the front line of Islamism's war.

If you wish to roll back Islamism.....start on the front lines....start with the Phakestinians, and the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Less appeasement on that front and a direct defeat of Islamism and Terrorism there will send shock waves against Islamism throughout the Middle East, etc.

Israel, (ie: the Jews) is the front line of this War....not a separate, not affiliated issue.

301 razorbacker  Thu, Mar 27, 2008 12:19:14pm

Lord help us, another Grim Milestone...

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The number of Iraqi citizens not killed by Saddam Hussein has reached 200,000, the U.S. military said on Monday, just days after the fifth anniversary of a war that President George W. Bush says the United States is on track to win.

The U.S. military said in a statement that the grim milestone was reached when 200 civilians were not murdered by Iraq's tyrannical dictator late on Sunday when no large groups of people were rounded up and shot in the head for making statements critical of their government. No one was wounded in the non-attack.

Non-tragic non-victims of yet another Saddam Hussein non-killing spree.

The non-deaths came on a day when the very dead Uday and Qusay Hussein were unable to pick women at random to rape and slaughter, owing largely to their inability to breathe, circulate blood, or stop being eaten by bugs as their bodies rotted in the ground.

The non-violence, in which dozens were not killed, underscored the fragility of Iraq's security. There has been an increase in non-attacks since January, but U.S. military commanders say overall levels of people not losing their lives at the behest of Iraq's President are expected to remain fairly consistent in the near future, as Saddam Hussein was too busy mingling his component molecules with the indifferent soil that surrounds him to significantly affect the Iraqi non-death rate.

What impact the 200,000 milestone will have on a war-weary American public and the U.S. presidential campaign will be hard to assess in the short term, but war critics are likely to remain deafeningly silent on it, as it does little to boost their case for U.S. troops to be withdrawn.

The U.S. military dismisses such tolls as arbitrary markers.

"It is artificial in the sense that somehow the lack of a 200,000th tragic loss somehow will be different from the first," U.S. military spokesman Rear Admiral Greg Smith told Reuters in an interview last week.

Anthony Cordesman, a respected Iraq analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, said he believes, however, that the 2000,000th non-death could trigger another wave of ears-covered, eyes-closed "la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you" from those who oppose the war.

Glorious H. Hope! Look what they done to my Savior, Ma....

That triumphal barnburner of an Easter hymn, Jesus Christ Has Risen Today – Hallelujah, this morning will rock the walls of Toronto’s West Hill United Church as it will in most Christian churches across the country.

But at West Hill on the faith’s holiest day, it will be done with a huge difference. The words “Jesus Christ” will be excised from what the congregation sings and replaced with “Glorious hope.”
Thus, it will be hope that is declared to be resurrected – an expression of renewal of optimism and the human spirit – but not Jesus, contrary to Christianity’s central tenet about the return to life on Easter morning of the crucified divine son of God.

Generally speaking, no divine anybody makes an appearance in West Hill’s Sunday service liturgy.

When the IDF catches a suicied bomber on the way to his target, you and I (and everyone else in Israel) consider that an attack.

I've talked to 'folks' who get angry when you suggest that their 'hope' for a 'gun free world' isn't realistic.

It is as if they REALLY believe that if you just say "guns are illegal now." that all the criminals will just give theirs up.

HELLO?! It is already illegal for most of them to have guns and definately illegal for ALL of them to use firearms in crimes... that doesn't seem to stop them.

But they think another law magically will.

It isn't about stopping crime or even limiting it. It is about disarming the citizens of this country for the sake of consolidating power. (Just as was done in the USSR, China, the Sudan, etc.) Unfortunately, too many dopeheads believed the stupid idea that it 'reduces crime' to not have law abiding citizens armed.

Then those dopeheads became teachers and are now perverting our current generation.

One told me that they don't need guns because they once scared away a mugger with a cordless drill.

Its fine if THEY don't want guns.... Stay the hell away from mine.

Sirhan was born in Jerusalem to Christian Palestinian parents and was raised in the Maronite Church. In his adult life however, he made several religious conversions, joining Baptist and Seventh-day Adventist churches, and dabbled in the occult. His family, which moved to the United States when Sirhan was 12, briefly lived in New York, and soon moved to California. He attended John Muir High School and Pasadena City College in Pasadena, California and was employed as a stable boy in 1965 at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, California.[1]

Once it got out, there's no way that all the copies can be found and destroyed.

After all, a bunch of white guys (roman soldiers) nailing someone to the cross is easy to translate into "Whitey should be hated"

You 'dabble' in watercolor painting, or in woodcarving.

You 'dabble' in golfing or target shooting.

You don't 'dabble' in the occult.... yet that is ALWAYS the phrase used.

Good point. As if attempting to conjure up Lucifer/Satan himself is not a serious endeavor for some people. Sort of like the neighborhood kid who sets fires and abuses his pets. Just about everyone has come to a level of consciousness to recognize those signs.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT'S ABOUT

I will be surprised if there is much seething from the fundamentalists - they will probably be flatterred and inspired by the film. What I expect instead is a great deal of whining and complaining from the "moderates" and from CAIR, with major coverage of their views in the MSM coupled with an MSM smear job of Wilders.

I've talked to 'folks' who get angry when you suggest that their 'hope' for a 'gun free world' isn't realistic.

One told me that they don't need guns because they once scared away a mugger with a cordless drill.

Its fine if THEY don't want guns.... Stay the hell away from mine.

They had probably watched Uncle Buck.

What are people doing, walking around the neighborhood with electric drills in their pockets? Did they imply to the mugger that the large pistol shaped item in their pocket was a pistol or did they tell them "its simply an electric drill, dont worry, I wont shoot you" OR, did they turn on their electric drill and start jabbing it at the mugger (who obviously only had a knife or some such paraphenalia) and threaten or produce bodily harm to the mugger (often termed 'violence' or 'unreasonable force').

Is that an electric drill in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

If anyone wants a glimpse of what an Obama presidency would be like, look no further than my very own governor.

The wine drinking liberals in MA felt so good voting for Cadicall Deval. Now they are not so sure....

Early Dazzle, Then Tough Path for a Governor

BOSTON — Gov. Deval Patrick has lately addressed doting crowds around the country as a surrogate for Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, his friend and fellow gifted orator. Last month, Mr. Obama even acknowledged borrowing language from Mr. Patrick’s stump speeches, casting a flattering light on a novice politician barely known outside Massachusetts.

But there is no such glow at home for Mr. Patrick, the first Democrat to lead his state in 16 years and the nation’s second elected black governor.

Mr. Patrick, who easily won office in 2006 after dazzling voters with a message of hope and change, suffered a nasty defeat last week at the hands of the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives, which quashed his proposal to increase revenues by allowing three resort casinos in the state. None of the governor’s major policy proposals have cleared the Legislature, in fact, and he and Salvatore DiMasi, the speaker of the House, have taken to trading barbs publicly.

Mr. DiMasi, who supports Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York for president, has openly tried to link Mr. Obama to Mr. Patrick’s difficulties, suggesting, along with other critics, that the two are alike in their lack of executive experience. Before the Massachusetts primary in February, Mr. DiMasi said that he did not want a president “in there on a learning process” during his first year in office. (Despite endorsements from Mr. Patrick and Senators Edward M. Kennedy and John Kerry of Massachusetts, Mr. Obama lost to Mrs. Clinton here by a wide margin.)

I will never forget 9/11- the footage always gives me chills- but the beheading is what stood out at me the most. She was the cousin of a friend and I met her in my early 20s, she was pretty, and was also just under 6ft tall as well. Nice post at EU Referendum about how the UK is a back door for European immigration. In fact, there seems to be no door at all: just a gaping hole.

After a qualifying period of residence in Britain, they can then apply for British citizenship (not that they need to, as they have absolute rights of residence). The authorities cannot refuse them – even if, had they entered directly from their original third countries, they could have been turned back on arrival. Furthermore, under the terms of the Directive, they can then bring their spouses, their children, their own parents and their in-laws, and even cousins if they are dependants. And this is exactly what is happening.

The BBC article about it is here.

The car was reported stolen last week. After the theft, the car’s owner was fueling his motorcycle when he spotted his stolen car....

The car’s owner pulled the keys out of the ignition of his stolen car and the people in the car fled.

When police arrived, they found the explosive device and less than $1,000 worth of Iraqi cash.

As of a few moments ago, Fitna has been seen by more than 781,000 people.

LiveLeak also issued the following statement:

LiveLeak.com has a strict stance on remaining unbiased and allowing freedom of speech as so far as the law and our rules allow. There was no legal reason to refuse Geert Wilders the right to post his film (Fitna) on LiveLeak.com and it is not our place to censor people based on an emotive response. We in no way endorse Geert Wilders, his views, nor the views expressed within Fitna. To many of us involved in LiveLeak.com some of the messages therein are personally offensive. That being said, our being offended is no reason to deny Mr Wilders the right to have his film seen. Pre-emptive censorship or a discriminatory policy towards freedom of speech are both things we oppose here on LiveLeak.com. A person has a simple, clear choice about whether to view this film. No one is being forced to view it and nor is it being broadcasted on every channel on their television set. If you click on media simply to be annoyed, it is pointless to blame others for your choice.

We do not intend on defending the content of Fitna, only our choice to allow it. Anyone has the full right of reply on LiveLeak.com. Any person or organizations are free to post their opinion and, dependent on said response falling within both the law and our rules, we will afford such responses equal exposure. There are undoubtedly better ways to spark a discussion but this film is now out there and we believe we should all grasp this opportunity to create an open dialogue and discussion on this subject.

That's as it should be.

re: #300 WrathofG-d

I like the video, and am not looking for specific preferential attention. But you cannot discuss Islamism's War against the West without acknowledging that the attacks aganist Israel are the front lines of this War.

Israel is not a "specific case" different than the U.S., England, Bali, Mogadishu, Sudan, Moracco, etc., so it shouldn't be treated as such.

But for some reason when one discusses Islamism's War against the West they separate Israel from the equation, and thus legitimize the front line of Islamism's war.

I couldn't agree with you more.
Tell me where you stand on Israel and I will tell you where you stand on the "war on terror."
Tell me Israel can have peace if she will just "make concessions," and you are telling me the West can have peace if we "make concessions."
Tell me the root cause of the jihad is the "problem" of Israel, and you are telling me that the root cause is the "problem" of the West.
Tell me everything would be fine if Israel just didn't exist, and you are telling me everything would be just fine if WE didn't exist.

This is from 2006,

KABUL, Afghanistan, Tuesday, March 28 — The justice minister announced Tuesday that a jailed Afghan man who faced the death penalty for converting to Christianity has been released.

He then requested asylum in another country which I think was granted. But your point is well taken, the average Afghans had this to say about it:

Clerics led hundreds of people in a demonstration in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif on Monday, demanding that Mr. Rahman be tried under Islamic law and executed.

A witness named Shaahed said people at the demonstration had shouted slogans against President Bush and Zalmay Khalilzad, who is originally from Balkh Province in the north and is now the American ambassador to Iraq.

"They were shouting: "Death to Bush! Death to Khalilzad! Death to America!" said Mr. Shaahed, who like many Afghans uses only one name.

He said the police there had controlled the protest, which was peaceful. "They were also shouting: 'Abdul Rahman must be executed! We don't want any country to interfere in our Islamic affairs,' " Mr. Shaahed said of the protesters.

Shots fired at Doctors Hospital; Two dead

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - News Leader Nine has learned that shots were fired at Doctors Hospital -- two people are dead. The shooting occurred inside the parking deck on the hospital's campus just of Hamilton Road.

Columbus Police Chief tells News Leader 9, that four people were shot - two people are dead, and two people are in critical condition.

The suspect was shot by a plain clothes officer. Police have that person in custody. The identity of that person has not been released.

Witnesses say the suspect's mother died this morning, and he came back to the hospital with a gun.

540 ec marm  Thu, Mar 27, 2008 1:31:04pm

What is probably going to happen, based on my experience, it that anyone that downloads and saves Fitna from LiveLeak, will then have to take the file into another program (Windows Moviemaker, for example) and break it up into three parts before uploading to YouTube. YouTube gets real cranky about anything too long. The user can expect to have the movie deleted and their account suspended based on some TOS violation. That may take a day or two, depending on how vigilant YouTube is going to be. Use of a brand spanking new account name is suggested.

More than once I have had non-US citizens tell me that the US "holds political prisoners". I ask them who. "Mumia", they reply. I explain that "political prisoner" generally means someone in prison for expressing his political opinions. "Isn't that what Mumia's in prison for?" No, for murdering a police officer named Daniel Faulkner. They're genuinely surprised.

Yes, "Death to America!" That really makes me more inclined to be glad that we spared the Afghans the just retribution for the actions of their Government. Not everyone, or even most of the people, in Japan actively hated the US the way these people do, but that did not spare Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Or for that matter Tokyo or any of the other cities we fire bombed.

The only reason there is assymetric warfare is because we permit the enemy to hide behind civillians, and those same civillians permit the enemy to hide behind them. If we stop allowing it, then the enemy will be wiped out. Sure, a lot of civillians will get it too, but nothing I've seen in the last six years indicates to me that the Mohammedans are entirely innocent.

Frozen Face Pelosi to Clinton Backers: You're Not the Boss of Me!

(CNN) – A recent letter from several Hillary Clinton fundraisers to Nancy Pelosi seeking she step back from her contention that superdelegates should support the pledged-delegate leader appears to have had little effect on the House Speaker.

Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said late Wednesday the California Democrat stands by her argument that the party's superdelegates would do damage if they go against the will of voters and hand the nomination to the candidate who finished second among those delegates awarded from the round of caucuses and primaries.

"The speaker believes it would do great harm to the Democratic Party if superdelegates are perceived to overturn the will of the voters," Daly said. "This has been her position throughout this primary season, regardless of who was ahead at any particular point in delegates or votes.”

Get ready for Goregasm '08!

Is Al Gore the Answer?

Which brings us back to Al Gore. Pish-tosh, you say, and you're probably right. But let's play a little. Let's say the elders of the Democratic Party decide, when the primaries end, that neither Obama nor Clinton is viable. Let's also assume - and this may be a real stretch - that such elders are strong and smart enough to act. All they'd have to do would be to convince a significant fraction of their superdelegate friends, maybe fewer than 100, to announce that they were taking a pass on the first ballot at the Denver convention, which would deny the 2,025 votes necessary to Obama or Clinton. What if they then approached Gore and asked him to be the nominee, for the good of the party - and suggested that he take Obama as his running mate? Of course, Obama would have to be a party to the deal and bring his 1,900 or so delegates along.

I played out that scenario with about a dozen prominent Democrats recently, from various sectors of the party, including both Obama and Clinton partisans. Most said it was extremely unlikely ... and a pretty interesting idea. A prominent fund raiser told me, "Gore-Obama is the ticket a lot of people wanted in the first place." A congressional Democrat told me, "This could be our way out of a mess." Others suggested Gore was painfully aware of his limitations as a candidate. "I don't know that he'd be interested, even if you handed it to him," said a Gore friend. Chances are, no one will hand it to him. The Democratic Party would have to be monumentally desperate come June. And yet ... is this scenario any more preposterous than the one that gave John McCain the Republican nomination? Yes, it's silly season. But this has been an exceptionally "silly" year. View this article on Time.com

re: #603 conservgirl

Yes, talking about the hospital.

For MOST states, you cannot ban guns from cars, provided they are carried in a legal way.

However, for those with concealed carry permits, some states allow the permitholders to carry even in a hospital.

Other's consider them 'government buildings' (even if they are not run/funded by the government) and you cannot carry there.

610 WrathofG-d  Thu, Mar 27, 2008 1:49:15pm

Remember that Iranian-American, UCLA student that refused to show his school I.D. to campus security, then resisted arrest and began screaming at cops, only to thereafter be tasered by them while screaming "this is your Patriot act", "don't let me be the only martyr", "join my resistance", "don't touch me", etc? (if not, here is a link to refresh your memory)

Well thereafter, Keith Olberman got on the story.

Then there were your typical knee-jerk Anti-cop, "cops are racists", "evil", "war-mongering", "abusive" protests at UCLA...

The University of Puget Sound students even had a "think-in" on it. (I'm super under impressed with the mental capabilities of these students. Something to think about next time some college student has a "strong opinion" etc.)

There was even a "remix" made of it......yo!

Dang.....even A.N.S.W.E.R. got into it and propagandized at this rally about UCLA (claiming that this has something to do with a much larger "systematic armed repressive tool of the state against oppressed communities everywhere" and acting in the interest of the interests of Neo-Nazis. ) (wow! this is one to watch!)

---Well here is the REST of the story (as Paul Harvey would say) from a very very far leftist "newspaper" in Los Angeles.

-Turns out, from the article above, that Mustafa was looking to make a quick Million from the City, is B'Hai (not Muslim), and a raving Anti-Semite!

Throw the Book at 'Em: Judge Sentences Three Men to Learn English or Go to Jail

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A judge known for creative sentencing has ordered three Spanish-speaking men to learn English or go to jail.

The men, who faced prison for criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, can remain on parole if they learn to read and write English, earn their GEDs and get full-time jobs, Luzerne County Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. said.

The men, Luis Reyes, Ricardo Dominguez and Rafael Guzman-Mateo, plus a fourth defendant, Kelvin Reyes-Rosario, all needed translators when they pleaded guilty Tuesday.

"Do you think we are going to supply you with a translator all of your life?" the judge asked them

Heard an Obama clip of him saying that Wright preached 3 x a week for 30 years, and people are putting together about one minute of only a few things he said out of all those sermons and playing them over and over.

So what Obama is saying is shame on us! Not shame on Wright. How's that for logic? And he wants to run this country.

Let's get over it shall we, we need McCain the Fighter Pilot as Commander in Chief, at least better than the fighting gender/race dueling Democrats.

702 lancekates  Thu, Mar 27, 2008 2:31:42pm

Obama has a plan to help the jobless and stimulate the economy:

Government handouts!

Where does money like that come from?

How about raising the capital gains tax?

Yeah.... raising taxes has a long track record of helping the economy.

Too bad we'd get McCain the liberal, instead.

Yes, yes... he is marginally more conservative than your average dem, and moreso than Hillary or Obama, but he is definately NOT a conservative.

What we NEED is a conservative, what we're getting is a choice between liberal and socialist.

You're happy settling for that?

I'm not.

Statement from LiveLeak:

Liveleak.com presents "Fitna the Movie"

There are undoubtedly better ways to spark a discussion but this film is now out there and we believe we should all grasp this opportunity to create an open dialogue and discussion on this subject.

re: #707 Bubbaman

Heh. Good for them for keeping it, but it kind of reminds me of the stance Ebay took when someone tried to sell their soul on ebay.

something to the effect of "Ebay takes no stance on the existance or nonexistance of the human soul. If a human being has a soul, then it would be considered a body part and cannot be sold on ebay. If a human being does not have a soul, then the seller is selling something that they do not have, which is a violation of the terms of ebay's rules."

Something like that was their explanation as to why they removed the auction.

Shooting fleeing schoolchildren in the back is just part a richly diverse cultural tradition that you couldn't possibly understand.

Damn right.

Damn, we sure did. Back in the 1100s and 1200s, and even the 300 AD time.

HOWEVER, when was the last time this douche' baguette read about the Restive Southern Baptists decapitating the Protestants in Moultrie, GA?

You're calling her a breadstick?!?!? :D :D :D :D :D

I'm not so sure that taking economic advice from a guy that signs a TWO million dollar book deal, buys a 1.6 million dollar house, and ends up with a 500,000 mortgage is a good idea. At least he's somewhat familiar with the confiscatory aspects of the tax code. But you'd never know that if you listened to him.

re: #609 LanceKates

Yes, talking about the hospital.

For MOST states, you cannot ban guns from cars, provided they are carried in a legal way.

However, for those with concealed carry permits, some states allow the permitholders to carry even in a hospital.

Other's consider them 'government buildings' (even if they are not run/funded by the government) and you cannot carry there.

Many others are posted buildings (which is supremely [censored]).

I have yet to ever hear an intelligent argument for gun free zones.

Personally, I'd like to see a Federal law banning all Gun Free Zones, which will probably happen... oh, around the time devils start ice skating in Hell. :-|

Eh, its the same story with a different mouthpiece.

He doesn't care about America, he only cares about the power. They are royalty....

The further to the left we slide, the more obvious that becomes.

715 lancekates  Thu, Mar 27, 2008 3:02:45pm

re: #713 NomadOfNorad

Imagine the outrage if the dc gun ban case extended to that as well (since they discussed both what it means to keep and what it means to bear firearms).... there'd be mass protests.... President Bush would get blamed for 'stacking the courts' (which just means that there are finally enough conservatives to balance out the democrat-installed radical liberal judges in the supreme court.

Frankly, I never understood the purpose of 'compromising' with democrats. They're wrong. Why would I want to compromise a right idea with something that is wrong?

That's purposely becoming 'lukewarm'

re: #715 lancekates

I say it's high time, as a society, that we create a situation in which to watch these people seethe like that Sometimes you have to have to cause these things to flare up so that they'll burn themselves out, and take the cause down with them, and so others can see just how totally out of touch some of these people really are, and therefore turn the rest of society totally against them.
