Israel Woos MoveOn.org, Daily Kos

Tue, Apr 8, 2008 at 5:32:43 pm PDT

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this resulted in some changes of heart? And wouldn’t it be wonderful if unicorns from space cured the common cold? US left-wing bloggers to visit Sderot.

I hope these people open their minds and look past their deeply held prejudices, but I wouldn’t bet $0.10 on it.

While Israel enjoys relatively balanced coverage in American mainstream media, there are numerous blogs identifying with the liberal left who are unwaveringly critical of Israeli policies, often referring to Israel as an apartheid state which, among other things, is responsible for Washington’s decision to go to war in Iraq.

The unique tour was organized by the Solomon Project, which was founded in 1996 to “educate the American Jewish community about its rich history of civic involvement.” The bloggers, along with leaders from various progressive organizatios, will meet with Israeli bloggers, journalists and Knesset officials. They will also be briefed on the security situation in the region and Israel’s civil society.

The group will be taken to view Sderot and Israel’s ‘narrow waistline’ by helicopter in an effort to convey the true meaning of a return to the borders of June 4th 1967. The guests are also scheduled to visit with the top negotiator for the Palestinian Authority, Saeb Erekat and may also meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert or Foreign Affairs Minister Tzipi Livni. ...

“It is important that progressive bloggers and leaders of progressive organizations learn first-hand about the current situation in Israel. We also want to provide them with an eye-opening experience that will help them better understand the complexity of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Among those participating in the tour are Daily Kos editor David Waldman and former Moveon.org lobbyist Tom Matzzie, who currently heads the anti-war ‘Campaign to Defend America.’

If you’d like to sample Waldman’s work, here you go.

The problem is not that these people do not understand that Israel's survival is threatened. The problem is that they want Israel to be destroyed. They want all Jews, leave alone Jews in Israel to die.
Trying to convince them is similar to attempt to have peace with "Palestinians".

This will not change the minds of the folks at DKos or MoveOn.org. They've got their worldview, and facts be damned.

That Sderot faces regular missile, rocket, and mortar barrages from Palestinian terrorists who seek to kill and injure Israelis at every turn doesn't fit that worldview. Israel's presence is the affront that must be confronted and removed for there to be peace according to the Palestinians and their useful idiots - the Dkos and MoveOn.org types included.

This trip will have little impact, except as to reinforce their perception that Israel must do more to accommodate Palestinian demands. More concessions. More givebacks. More. More. More.

And what will Israel get in return? More rockets and mortars slamming into its cities.

That's where this is headed.

We printed large tracts for a couple of years, but sales were very slow until my printer, who was producing the 'Four Spiritual Laws,' asked me to make the tracts pocket-sized. When we did this, the tracts started selling better, and I had to rework some of them to fit the smaller size. The company grew until we had our own printshop, and that is how we are able to keep the cost per tract so low.")

All it says is that his printer also produced the Four Spiritual Laws, and told him to make it pocket sized...

140 Lucius Septimius  Tue, Apr 8, 2008 6:11:23pm

Actually, the Israelis seem to be going on the offensive against the bastions of LLLism. They've had professors from Israel going around to colleges to speak about the situation ins Sderot. My sense is that this is part of a larger effort to try to get them to see what's happening and make it more difficult to demonize Israel.

Unfortunately, my fear (like that of others here) is that the Pali's will use this to their advantage. And in any event most of these folks are so ideologically driven that they would believe the sun to be the moon if seeing it that way would reveal the truth of their beliefs. They'll see what they want to see and nothing else.

Pastorius, Wikipedia (I know, great trustworthy source!) does indicate that Dr Bill Bright of Campus Crusade penned the Four Spiritual Laws

The Four Spiritual Laws
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The Four Spiritual Laws is an evangelistic Christian tract created in 1965 by Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. Bright wrote the booklet as a means to clearly explain the essentials of the Christian faith concerning salvation.

In the booklet, Bright summarizes the Christian message of salvation contained in the Bible as four spiritual laws that govern our relationship with God, just like there are physical laws that govern the universe.[1] The four spiritual laws are:

1. God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. (John 3:16, John 10:10)
2. Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
3. Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life. (Romans 5:8, I Corinthians 15:3-6, John 14:6)
4. We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives. (John 1:12, Ephesians 2:8,9, John 3:1~8, Revelation 3:20)

Use of the tract is widespread[2] and continues today in various forms and multiple languages by Christians in their efforts to explain their faith to non-Christians.[3]

In the hope that any of these people on this trip could have a change of heart- I suggest the hospitals of Israel as a stop on the tour. Let them see Israeli doctors working on palesinians vowing to kill them, because if that's not an eye opener, nothing will be.

good point. if the libs can't process that scenario, game over for those fools.

That is wonderful!

It was 1970 we'd come back from Iran for a furlough. Visited my Uncle in CA and toured Arrowhead Springs (the Campus Crusade HQ) then had dinner at Bright's home. That night he got out his kids telescope, they were grown and gone, to look at the stars. He gave me the telescope.

Met him that one time, and that's what I remember.

Took the telescope back to Iran. Spend hours out in the village away from city lights star gazing.

re: #124 buzzsawmonkey

The deranged Rev. Phelps and his equally deranged followers decided a couple of years ago to come out here to Cape Cod and visit one of their protests in Provincetown. For those of you who have never heard of it, it is the gay mecca of the east coast. Well, they apparently did not fully realize what it meant to walk into the most moonbat froth-at-the-mouth Massachusetts liberal town, and still expect to walk out alive. They had hundreds of people coming into town, MOOBAT armies marched on P-Town to await... The police chief here called Phelps chief of police back home to get some tips.
Then the Phelps croo was advised there was only one main road in and out of town. They took the hit and canceled the non-refundable air fares, and have not been heard from since. They are idiots, and I don't know if any of you realize it (forgive me if its been discussed), but this roving band of nuts actively protests at soldiers funerals across the country. Can you imagine having that pop up at random at your son's funeral?

I admire his quick change-over from F1, but I really don't like his arrogance and aloof attitude. It's nice to see some diversity (hell, I cheer for every female driver that qualifies for the Cup or Nationwide races), but I really don't care for Montoya's attitude. But I like Franchitti's accent. It's refreshing to hear a brogue instead of a drawl every so often. I just really wish Truex would let his Jersey accent out. "Fuhgeddaboudit, he wouldn't get outta da way, I puddim in da wall."

One of my work neighbors is a retired Marine who still does a lot of really nice things for the troops. He is the commander of the VFW in town he is, I believe a member of the Patriot Guard, he is bringing some wounded warriors to the Cape this summer, and Chatham, being the most conservative town in the State, has business owners and everyday locals who are helping make the trip a great one. They will be in private summer rental homes volunteered that would go anywhere from 35K and way up per week. They will be fed, chauffeured, taken on whale watches, deep sea fishing, etc, and probably given one hell of a party at the VFW.
We are all really looking forward to it.

Well, You could donate to Wounded Warriors, or get together at your local VFW, with buisnesses in your town, and put a trip together. Invite them. My friend went online and invited them, then came to everyone and put it together in several hours. Its a small town, and it is still a place where people watch out for neighbors, and we dont give tourists directions to the bridge to Nantucket just for the fun of it.

258 Arbalest  Tue, Apr 8, 2008 8:18:16pm

As I recall, not so long ago (but clearly pre-surge), various Leftist apparatchiks dared upon Michelle Malkin, a girl mother of 2(?) and one with no military experience, to go to Baghdad.

She went, as soon as the trip could be arranged.

Now, Israel invites an assortment of Leftist apparatchiks to come to Israel.

Kos, someone who makes note of his prior military service and claims that it qualifies him to talk about . . . makes the manly choice: send one of his editors.

Dude Kos: The world watches: will you not go yourself?

Take Soros with you. Last time he was in a war zone, he was, what, fingering Jews? He’s unlikely to meet any real old friends, but perhaps this experience will help him understand that there are (and were) consequences to his actions.

It's a noble effort on the part of the Israelis, but I think they underestimate the political animosity in this country. Even if the progressives did come to see things differently, they would never cede such a moral point to conservatives publicly.

Be that as it may, they are being given an opportunity here to do the right thing in the eyes of God (if I may be so bold) for henceforth, they will be without excuse...

Unlike the Biblical story, however--in which one woman says, "Let her have the child" and the other says, "It shall be neither mine nor yours; divide it," and Solomon determines that the first woman is the true mother...

Actually, it was Solomon who made the proposal that the child be divided, which prompted the woman to relinquish claim, which then was the impetus for Solomon's judgement.

re: #106 lawhawk

Read some of that "editor's work" editor's obvious personal dementia.
That guy is sooo far into his denial fantasy, he's never coming back to reality. I give Israel an A for effort, but I know what the results will be.

"Among those participating in the tour are Daily Kos editor David Waldman and former Moveon.org lobbyist Tom Matzzie, who currently heads the anti-war ‘Campaign to Defend America’."
== == == == == ==

One can only hope for some event that brings into strong focus for these Liberal Left Loons what it's like for the CIVILIANS in Sderot to be the targets of random rocket fire from a hostile entity just over the border. Perhaps their moment of clarity could include suddenly realizing that our very own USofA is trying to push Israel to "accommodate" and "negotiate" with a bunch of homicidal misfits who only get along as long as they are actively trying to kill Jews and destroy Israel; when there's a pause in that endeavor they turn on each other like rabid rats...
