What's Dick Cheney Looking At?

Thu, Apr 10, 2008 at 12:05:42 pm PDT

A photograph of Dick Cheney posted at the White House web site has a strange reflection in his sunglasses. Some are suggesting it shows Cheney appreciating a bare naked lady, others think it may reveal a creature from another galaxy. I’m leaning toward the latter explanation.

But if anyone can solve this compelling mystery, it’s the lizard army.

UPDATE at 4/10/08 12:48:41 pm:

A higher resolution version of the photo puts this mystery to bed.

Dick is fly fishing on the Snake River. Whats not to smile about? There is nothing so good as the primitive sports in the Great outdoors, not even naked women (they do come in distantly second though).

Excellent, Lance. rule # 1: don't get excited, shoot quickly but slowly enough to place the shot. 1 shot kill is the game. Hogs have poor eyesight, but excellent smell and hearing. You can walk up on them if they are distracted and you are downwind and stealthy.

Easy for me, I never get buck fever, but I've seen people empty entire rifles at a buck 50 paces away and not get close enough to scare him.

You should not need rubber boots then. Standard warm weather camo will do. Forget the scent killer, as you will need to wear insect repellant, unless you stay on the roads. Stay huning upwind. Take a rest if you can to steady the shot. Wait for a broadside if possible. Use a controlled expansion bullet like Remington core-loct, as large hogs have a thick cartlidge shield over their ribs sometimes that may cause a light skinned bullet to blow up prior to hitting the vitals. Place your shot carefully. When you get one down, reload your chamber, they sometimes get up if they can, and not in a good mood generally, though things get pretty sporty when that happens. If you have to take a shot oblique from broadside, place the bullet forward or rearward far enough to get both lungs, if you only get one, you will have to shoot at a running hog.

OK, I am going to take a stab at it before I read any other comments:

It appears to be his own arm with his hand gripping something. I am guessing it is either the door of his vehicle (getting ready to close it), or a steering wheel. It is possible that he is gripping a rifle on another hunting excursion, but I think you would see reflections of fear in the faces of anyone nearby if that were the case.

188 Peacekeeper  Thu, Apr 10, 2008 12:57:24pm

You don't have to be Babba to know this is an abject disgrace:
Safford Middle School has a "zero tolerance" policy that prohibits possession of all drugs, including not just alcohol and illegal intoxicants but prescription medications and over-the-counter remedies, "except those for which permission to use in school has been granted." In October 2003, acting on a tip, Vice Principal Kerry Wilson found a few 400-milligram ibuprofen pills (each equivalent to two over-the-counter tablets) and one nonprescription naproxen tablet in the pockets of a student named Marissa, who claimed Savana was her source.

Savana, an honors student with no history of disciplinary trouble or drug problems, said she didn't know anything about the pills and agreed to a search of her backpack, which turned up nothing incriminating. Wilson nevertheless instructed a female secretary to strip-search Savana under the school nurse's supervision, without even bothering to contact the girl's mother.

The secretary had Savana take off all her clothing except her underwear. Then she told her to "pull her bra out and to the side and shake it, exposing her breasts," and "pull her underwear out at the crotch and shake it, exposing her pelvic area." Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.

The invasiveness of the search also has to be weighed against the evil it was aimed at preventing. "Remember," the school district's lawyer recently told ABC News by way of justification, "this was prescription-strength ibuprofen." It's a good thing the school took swift action, before anyone got unauthorized relief from menstrual cramps.

Democrats often need something incredibly erotic—like Meet the Press—to get revved up, particularly on a Sunday morning (there are only so many sections of The New York Times). Republicans, on the other hand, don’t even need Fox News to get it up. They understand that foreplay is about sex. And lots of it. AFAIK, this is standard policy at public schools all over the country and has been for quite a while.

Another rarely mentioned public school practice is to "randomly" pick one student at the beginning of the year to make a disciplinary example of. I suspect that is what was done to the honor student in your link.

Note that the US public school system is one of only two places in the nation where the US Constitution is null and void. The other is the US prison system.

Steel toes are too heavy, Hiking or hunting boots by Rocky are better.

Any insect repellant stinks to high heaven, hogs and deer smell it for a mile.

I didn't know that. I'm not sure if they make a 7.62x54r round, but I'll check.

Fortet it. Factory ammo for the 7.62X54 is quite limited, so use any soft point you can get. Thats why I reload, if you slug the bore you will probably find that you can use .303 British bullets, and there is a much greater selection of bullets for that bore.

I'd like to go now, but I'm not able to as I don't have anyone to go wi

I have a bit of a dream of owning dozens of acres of land, setting up some hunting cabins to rent out and do guided hunts (assuming I like hunting and get good at it)

It'd also be nice for hosting LGF get togethers in the off season.

Make it public.

Yes indeed... which is a PERFECT time to make a PR stunt like that.

In Minnesota, Home Depot almost gave up. There's a cheaper crappier version of Home Depot called Menards. It has been in MN for years and years, since long before I was around. People were so loyal that it didn't matter that Home Depot had higher quality at lower prices.... people really didn't care.

One winter, there was a BAD storm coming and Menards had a run on generators. Turned out that nothing bad happened and they went to return the generator, only to be told that Menards refused to take them back.

Home Depot put an ad in the papers that said "Bring them to us, bring your receipt. It doesn't matter if it is a brand we don't carry, we'll take it back anyway."

Instantly loyal Home Depot customers.

Speaking of NOT Dick Cheney (Elton John mewling, that is--Oy!)

James Taranto's opinionjournal @wsj.com cracks this joke:

I remember when Barack was young, the Associated Press reports:

A bitter Sir Elton John thinks America's sexism may be sinking his friend Hillary Rodham Clinton.

John, a knighted British subject, said that gender discrimination is behind Clinton's problems in the polls as he addressed 5,000 Clinton supporters at Radio City Musical Hall last night in an event that raised $2.5 million for the cash-strapped campaign.

"I never cease to be amazed by the misogynistic attitudes of some people in this country," said John, wearing a spangled black evening coat over a vermilion silk shirt. "I say to hell with them. . . . I love you, Hillary, I'll always be there for you."

But the years went by and Little Rock just died, and the voters went and left her for some foreign guy.

Like a Victim In The Wind, jokes Weekly Standard blogger Samantha Sault

In particular, Syria seems to have won the attention of the pro-engagement crowd, like Obama adviser Robert Malley, who has said that Washington's dealings with Damascus "undoubtedly can have a significant impact on each" aspect of U.S. Middle East policy--from Iraq and Iran, to Lebanon and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

However, the present situation in Syria shows the folly of Obama's idea. First, as Syrian President Bashar al-Asad's unctuous welcome of Nancy Pelosi a year ago proves, for the U.S. simply to talk to its enemy was a victory of a type for Syria, and one that worked against the U.S.'s larger strategic goals...

When Pelosi visited Damascus last spring, her main purpose was to thumb her nose at the White House by demonstrating that there was no harm merely chatting with the solicitious, clearly delighted Asad. And yet the unintended consequence of her overture, as Syrian dissidents had warned, was that Asad clamped down on opposition figures, seemingly availing himself of the apparently relaxed U.S. pressure...

...President Obama may be surprised to discover that Bush's Lebanon policy is a model of multilateral consensus, formed in partnership with allies like France and regional powers like Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Still, Washington is clearly the senior partner, and engaging Syria at this point would mean shaking the cornerstone of a coalition built on international law, including a string of U.N. Security Council Resolutions, and a U.N. tribunal established to try Hariri's murderers.

But did he sing 'the bitch is back'? And if so who did it refer to, elton or hildabeast?

In theory, they are. There's the whole "state will disappear" concept once everyone is on the same communist page. (No, it's not a weekend at Barney Frank's) and everybody will be doing what they are supposed to for the greater good and there will be no need for a state or any authority cause we'll all be "happy shiny people".

Marx should have read Hobbes and not Rousseau, dammit. The man had no concept of the basics of human nature. "Noble savage" my ass.

I've kinda always liked Philippians 2:1-4;

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Good for you. I deal with parents daily, most of them rude and angry. I go way out of my way to resolve an issue when one is cordial.

You are a rare breed these days.
Being nice goes a long way to deflect angry words.
It's so rare to find good customer service. I had to go through 2 other people to find someone that could actually make a decision.
I'm normally a nice person, but every now and then...you don't want to be around me.
Perhaps Karma was paying me back. A neighbor has lost her 12 year old cat (somehow got out, when it never has been outside) and I scanned pictures and made up a flyer and helped her distribute around the neighborhood.
Had to dash off and put on the spaghetti sauce.

You can say that again. I started buying alternators and batteries for our fleet from a local vender (I like to spend the money locally when I can). After about six weeks of doing business, they sent some *sshole up here being rude to my wife, demanding payment. Turns out the bill hadn't been paid because they had failed to bill us yet.
That's forty less starters, alternators and eighty less batteries they'll sell to me.
A simple, professional phone call would have been so much more effective.

Good Customer Service.

Kitchen Aid.

Wife's hand mixer died. I took apart and found a broken piece. It had a part number I on it. I called Kitchen Aid in less that five minutes I was talking to a person. I told her what I needed, she laughed and said "you one of those" meaning a DIY type. She said they don't stock and ship small appliance parts, too expensive. She then said for shipping cost they'd send me a new one. I told her the thing was waaay past warranty.

So for shipping we got a new mixer.

My wife dropped a fry pan and broke the glass front on our stove, again a five minute call and new front arrived in a couple of days.

Fridgedaire on the other hand I've never spoken to a person. They web site tell us to call a phone number, the phone number tells you to visit the web site.

Any guess what brand my new refrigerator is?

I don't have time to do animations, but I could do writing and voice. My singing stinks, but it might be adequate for this.

The story line doesn't map exactly. Also, if we give Mo a bomb turban will we get sued for copyright violation?
I have some ideas for this. In Superstar, they mixed modern and ancient ideas, so we can have Mo's followers with AK47's and suicide bomb belts.
