A big domo arigato goes out to “IsntSuchABadChap” Brian Linse for hosting last night’s LA Blogapalooza. A stellar list of scary-smart journo-techno-wacko geeks attended, including the lovely and talented “Madison Slade,” all-Hawaii’d-out Dawn and Eric Olsen, charmingly French Emmanuelle Richard with on-hiatus blogger hubby Matt Welch, killblogger Bill Quick, Linux blogger Doc Searls, employed blogger Mickey Kaus, busblogger Tony Pierce, patioblogger Martin Devon, and a passel of other folks who I don’t mean to slight by not mentioning, except that my aptitude for remembering names is on par with my ability to fly a jet fighter. Ken Layne was a no-show, fueling speculation that he’s on a top secret black ops mission for the Bilderbergs, probably involving robots. And chimpanzees.

Why do I feel like an elephant sat on my head while I slept?

Too many trips to the open bar?

Before going on hiatus, Matt Welch submitted an article on GW Bush that [Link: www.nationalpost.com...] printed today (July 13).

Today's National Post also has cool articles on: the CIA's mental telepathy experiments; Phillip K Dick's "alternative universe" (Do weblog operators dream of little green electic footballs?); and on findings that pollen from some genetically altered vegetation can spread seed over 3 kilometres, or well beyond the once believed 300 meter range (we're in peril!)

Sorry, their URLs are over my 50 character range. However, I should inform of this quote from the late Philip K's living pal, RA Wilson, "I realize that if I were an android, I'd be properly programmed to believe that I am Robert Anton Wilson," he says. "So that leaves me in a predicament of not being sure whether I'm Robert Anton Wilson or an android programmed to think, talk and act like him. I'm really grateful to Phil for that - I guess it gives me a certain agnostic detachment, which I think is necessary for mental health." Do you want to know who Charles Johnson really was before his transformation?

I never get invited to the fun parties.

It was so great to meet you Charles! I'm already looking forward to the next gathering.

Also, thanks for the confirmation of high marks for your webhost. I'm switching over this week! Whee!

Dude. What can I say? You are 13% smarter and 58% more humble than I imagined you'd be. Till we meet again! -- mmd

Charles:
So happy there were no "bizarre gardening accidents" this time. Great to meet you.
Howard:
Who new you were in LA, dude?
E-mail me and you on the list for the next one.

I enjoyed the hell out of everybody I met, and since I wasn't drinking, I actually remember the meetings!

I got hammered!

(Sadly, this was at home. By myself. Watching a John Huges marathon on Comedy Central. I think I hate all you bastards).

Charles, Couldn't have been better meeting you. Sorry I am getting to this so late - been adjusting, digging out from mail, and getting over my depression at having to leave you all behind in sunny SoCal. You're a great guy and I look forward to the next meeting. Hope you head is better, mine finally is. Best, EO
