Memorial Day Vacation

Fri, May 23, 2003 at 10:45:20 pm PDT

I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news: my brother’s getting married on Memorial Day.

The bad news: that means I’m going to be out of town until Tuesday, so Little Green Footballs will be lying fallow until then. Joining the Temporary Choir Invisible, if you will.

And it means I’ll be shutting off comments Saturday morning, so that the Morlocks don’t seethe and rampage while no one’s here to force them back with chair and bullwhip (my customary role).

UPDATE: Thanks to all for the nice words and wishes! You guys are all right, for a bunch of nefarious lizardoid minions.

Congratulations to your brother and his bride-to-be! Enjoy your trip, try to forget about all the woes around the world and just enjoy friends, family and fun. And thanks for all the tireless work you do for everyone here. The amount of time you devote to bringing important news to the world, contributing valuable insights and perspective, and running a delightful site has surely spoiled us all.

Congratulations, Michael, and God bless this union.

Best wishes.

What! LGF's comments disbabled???? Does this mean I'll actually have to DO some of the work that piles up ignored while I spend the day reading through LGF? Aw shucks!

Congratulations to your brother. Now, is someone in the family busily matchmaking and organizing a line of ladies "That poor, lonely Charles just HAS to meet ..." (Shudder)

8 Teacake  Fri, May 23, 2003 9:34:28pm

What a wonderful reason to have to miss you.

9 Elizabeth  Fri, May 23, 2003 9:36:23pm

Oh no--say it isn't so, Charles. Does this mean we'll have to seek gainful employment? Zounds!

Felicitations to your brother and your whole family on the nuptials. I hope he and his bride have a wonderful day and a wonderful life ahead. Enjoy yourself and don't wear anything with an LGF logo!

...force them back with chair and bullwhip (my customary role).

Jeepers, even Indiana Jones needs a rest.

Congrats and best wishes to your brother and his bride and enjoy your time off. We'll be here when you get back.

Since this is Memorial Day, I would like to take this opportunity to wish EVERYONE a wonderful weekend and all that happy stuff.

I found this on Misha's blog, it jumped right out at me. I hope everyone has a chance to take a look at it and reflect upon the significance of Memorial Day.

Happy Memorial Day, folks.

Glad I'm still in time to wish your brother and his bride to be Mazal Tov. May they find happiness in all they do, in all they go.

See ya on the net when you return, Charles.

16 Michael  Fri, May 23, 2003 10:54:41pm

Thanks to all for your kind wishes, and thanks for making LFG what it is today. I promise to return "Charles" to his throne safe and sound!

(the silent one)

17 Ben F  Fri, May 23, 2003 11:11:16pm

Mazal Tov, Michael.

And you're not quite silent; I remember spotting a post of yours many months ago.

18 zulubaby  Fri, May 23, 2003 11:25:28pm

Michael,

Mazel Tov! Wishing you love and happiness, always.

I promise to return "Charles" to his throne safe and sound!

LOL! We appreciate that, and trust that "Charles" will be handled with care while in your possession. We don't loan him to just anyone you know ;-)

Have a magical time!

Gee, taking away the Morlocks excuse to seeth and rampage. Poor little critters! Whatever will they do? They will be so lost, so lost...

Seriously, congrats to your brother and his bride to be.

21 Wild Justice  Sat, May 24, 2003 12:55:07am

A happy and healthy life to your brother and his bride!

Enjoy the mini-vacation, Charles. Nobody works harder than you.

TO: Charles
RE: Automating Dealing with the Morlocks

Is there any way in which you can automatically send morlock posts to a form of purgatory? Or would it be more appropriate to refer to such a 'zone' as pandemonium?

Regards,

Chuck(le)

23 ploome  Sat, May 24, 2003 1:01:49am

Congratulations, Michael may you be very happy and have many children...

:-))

24 Ellen  Sat, May 24, 2003 1:03:39am

A happy Memorial Day to all.

#16 Michael,Best wishes to you my friend.Ya'll be careful driving this weekend,as many of us here are quite fond of our Johnsons.Hopefully the dowry was sufficient so that fierce beatings may be avoided until after you unwrap that chador .May the suprize waiting beneath it be better than 100 camels, and may this union bless you w many children that never need honour killing.

30 english bloke  Sat, May 24, 2003 3:07:23am

What a wonderful reason for escaping from LGF for a while.

Congratulations to Michael and your bride!

Happy holiday weekend to all in the UK, US and The Netherlands, and anyone else having a holiday weekend.
If it's not a holiday where you are, have a good one anyway!

31 Geepers  Sat, May 24, 2003 3:15:12am

Michael,

Congratulations. Best of wishes to you and your bride.

Charles, Thanks for everything you do here. Enjoy.

Memorial Day is a holiday that commemorates those who have died in battle while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

Take time to remember their sacrifice.

32 AG in Houston  Sat, May 24, 2003 3:15:28am

Many congrats to you brother and your family.

I know I am being a little selfish but three days without L-F-G might be the end of me.

33 Doug  Sat, May 24, 2003 3:21:30am

Charles, thanks for all you do. Have a great weekend, everyone, and please pause to remember those who have made the ulitmate sacrifice to ensure us the blessings of this great nation, including the freedom to put our opinions here.

34 EE  Sat, May 24, 2003 3:46:15am

Charles, congratulations to your brother, and to the family. Best wishes to the new couple.

35 someone  Sat, May 24, 2003 4:02:01am

Congratulations Michael. Charles, please enjoy your well-earned holiday.

OT: a fascinating review of the Franks Iraq "plan" here. Turns out keeping those ships in Turkey was an intentional red herring to confuse the Iraqis.

Can I shout "last" now?

So, YOU people are marrying so you can breed more zionist stormtroopers who will go on to act as thwarters of the Palestinians, apologists for Israel and defenders of the decadent Anglo-US western imperialism? Good stuff - about time. Congratulations Michael and I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

37 freedomsound  Sat, May 24, 2003 4:34:50am

Congratulations and best wishes!

38 Jetstorm  Tue, May 27, 2003 7:49:23pm

Congratulations to your brother Charles, and I hope you had an enjoyable getaway this Memorial Day weekend.

By the way, would someone please inform this ignorant country boy as to what "mazel tov" means? I am home for the summer from college and am unable to get in touch with our buddy group's token Jew.
