Official PA Cartoon

Thu, Oct 16, 2003 at 10:22:54 am PDT

Even as the PA arrests the so-called perpetrators of yesterday’s attack against a US convoy in Gaza, the official Palestinian Authority newspaper Al-Hayat-Al-Jadeeda prints a cartoon showing their true sentiments. (Hat tip: Outsider.)

The cartoon accuses Israel of blowing up the car. Which is interesting in light of the official PA reaction to the attack which can be summarized as "oh shit".

I disagree. If the US is already "one-sided" then why would Israel plant bombs to make us more "one-sided"? I mean, didn't they already accoplish that with 9-11?

(not my point, their point... I know its sick)

Paul

12 Teacake  Thu, Oct 16, 2003 8:32:58am

James - I also saw an article where they stated they tried to warn the convoy in advance to take a different route, implying they knew about the ambush. The US deserved to die for do-good missions... will the left ever get a clue? Do gooders are not expemt, even if they belive so.

They assert that Israel is behind the bombing, because otherwise the only suspect left is themselves and they worry that perhaps bombing a US diplomatic convoy was going a little bit too far. Why do you think Arafat's immediate reaction was to condemn it (without his usual equivocating spiel about occupation)? Because he was a tiny bit frightened. And why do you think that Hamas and IJ didn't take responsibility for it (even though they've openly threatened America and Americans before)? Because they're a tiny bit frightened. I'm surprised it took them a full day to come up with the brilliant "Israel did it!" but I expected nothing less -- even as they hedge their bets by arresting a few Palestinian patsies in case the US gets very upset.

24 evariste  Thu, Oct 16, 2003 8:39:51am

Hate to be redundant but, for those who didn't see it in the other thread...

This isn't the first time.

I have a question for those who say the murder of 3 Americans in Gaza was a result of 1) our veto of the U.N. resolution against Israel the same day and 2) our support for Israel's strike into Syria. Explain this line from today's issue of le Monde?

Il y a plusieurs semaines déjà, une mine avait explosé, à Gaza, au passage d'un autre convoi américain, sans faire de victimes.

-- in English --

Several weeks ago, a mine exploded in Gaza, with the passage of another American convoy, without claiming any victims.

I wonder how the original, failed bombing (which occured weeks prior to the U.N. vote or the strike against terrorist in Syria) received absolutely zero press when it happened... and even now I find no references to it in the American media outlets.

Stop Blaming the Innocent Palestinians!

GAZA, October 15 (IslamOnline.net) – Palestinian factions immediately disclaimed responsibility for the road-side bombing attack on a U.S. diplomatic convoy that left at least three Americans dead in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, October 15.

Sheikh Adnan Asfour of the movement Hamas said the group's "unwavering position is against broadening the cycle of conflict or taking it outside the Palestinian territories.

"Resistance well understands that its main enemy is the one that had occupied Palestinian territories and killed Palestinians," he told IslamOnline.net.

Asfour said Palestinian attacks are meant to end Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and create the long-coveted Palestinian state with the holy city of Al-Quds as its capital.

Typical media: ignore all the failed attacks, and then make a huge deal out of how this is the "first" and thus a "new and worrisome development." Then you get to spin all sorts of lies about why it happened.

It's been an interesting week for Michael Ledeen. First, the British Daily Telegraph and the Washington Post have essentially confirmed Ledeen's long held thesis that many of al-Qaeda's top leaders including Saad Bin Laden have found sanctuary in Iran's and are working in concert with Iran's hardline clerics.
Now apparently Ledeen may have stumbled onto the "smoking gun" the Bush and Blair administrations are so desperate to uncover. An Iranian figure central to the 1980's Iran-Contra scandal claims that he is in contact with several figures who smuggled over $150 million worth of enriched Uranium into Iran 5 years ago. Naturally the CIA and with it's heroic Jack Ryan-like operatives are opposed to meeting with Ledeen's contacts on any grounds, even to dispel his allegations. The article's definitely an interesting read, even if one has become (like myself) conditioned to being highly skeptical when it comes to sensational stories of WMD discoveries.

Is anyone keeping track of the number of times a U.S. government official--usually Powell or Bush-- has called on the P.A. to crack down on terrorist organizations? Twenty times? Fifty times? At what point do they clue in that it ain't never gonna happen? When Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad have finally taken over? And then? Don't be surprised if you hear this in the not too distant future: "Secretary of State Colin Powell called on Palestinian terrorist organizations today to crack down on Palestinian terrorism."

HISPANICS FIND FAMILIARITY IN ISLAM
Converts say they are surprised to discover similar customs
By Wendy Hundley
When Carlos Puerto was growing up in in his native Columbia, he was taught to step out of bed on his right foot to ensure a good day. It’s a custom, he said, that’s common in many Spanish speaking countries. So he was surprised, many years later, to find a similar practice among Muslims, who follow the example set by the prophet Muhammad.
“When I embraced Islam, I was surprised by all the similar customs,” said Mr Puerto, one of a small but growing number of Hispanic converts to Islam. “I believe there’s a closeness of Islamic values to the Hispanic culture.” Mr Puerto, who is known in the Islamic community by his arabic first name, Abuabdurahmanr, is one of the organizers of the first Open House for the Hispanic Community at the Dallas Central Mosque in Richardson.
Saturdays event will include a reception, tours, and lectures by Imam Omar Weston of the Islamic Cultural Center of Mexico. Imam Weston will also preside over a question and answer session. The open house is designed to introduce the Hispanic community to Islam, said Nadiya Iqbal, who was born Brenda Avila and is a new convert to Islam. She said about 100 Hispanic people are affiliated with the mosque, but she believes the number of Dallas-area converts is much higher.
Like Mr Puerto, she was struck by the similarities between Muslim and Hispanic traditions. “The respect for elders, the respect for family, the courtesy and manners,” she said, listing some common features. “It goes hand in hand.” She even found words and phrases that had a familiar ring. “Every Spanish-speaking person grows up saying ‘Ojala’ which means Lord willing.” She said. “The arabic ‘insh’allah’ means the same thing.”
It’s not surprising that the languages are similar, said Michael Provence, an assistant professor of Middle East history at Southern Methodist University. The Moors ruled Spain for almost 700 years, and “10 to 30 percent of the spanish language is derived from Arabic,” he said. “Ojala is directly from the Arabic.”
Like many Latinos, Mr Puerto was raised a Roman Catholic and did’nt know much about Muslims or the tenets of their religion. He first met a group of Muslim students when he came to the United States to attend the University of Arkansas as an exchange student. He said he was struck by their couteous and thoughtful manners, which reminded him of home. “I felt that I was being with Spanish people more than Muslims,” he said. “They were very kind and respectful. They put the needs of others before their own needs.” He soon began learning more about Islam and was attracted by its lack of hierarchy. “I was able to worship God without any kind of preachers,” he said. “In the Catholic Church, you have to ask a priest for forgiveness. In Islam, anyone can be a preacher.”
He said he’s a better person since he embraced Islam on Jan. 24, 1997. But his conversion surprised his family. “They thought I’d embraced a cult. Nobody there knows anything about Islam,” he said. “But now that they’ve seen the changes in me, they’re happy.”

Just fills me with that Kumbaya feeling.

So why doesn't he join Iglesia de Dios already? That's full of people who are "just like Hispanics" (because they ARE Hispanics), and you don't have to "ask a priest for forgiveness", and anyone can be a preacher.

I have never understood people who can't see the trees in their own forest.

The fluorescent green goo is something that they use for eye exams; I forget the exact purpose - I think it's dye to highlight any defects in the cornea. But you're right, it does add a lot to the "effect".

The subject is a hyperthyroid patient, in case anyone was wondering.

.....two states, palestine and Israel living side by side in peace

If I hear that once more I think I will go completely and utterly mad! That cartoon as awful and horrific as it is makes more sense then that filthy overused statement.

Strange...don't Palestinians take pride in killing Americans? They sure take the time tell us they do...

So why would they give Israelis any credit?

I tell you, the apologizers seem to be doing the Palestinians a disservice.

111 MGCC  Thu, Oct 16, 2003 12:17:41pm

We owe those people nothing.

We should pay it.

112 Rick Z  Thu, Oct 16, 2003 12:18:27pm

This drawing is ample proof that Muslims invented the art of political cartoons. High praise is indeed deserved for showing those hook-nosed Americans posing as Jews! How dare they? We wanted to kill more Jews, dammit, but only got those bastard Americans.

Now, where did I put my sweets?

113 zulubaby  Fri, Oct 17, 2003 6:19:09am

While the Palestinians are making a grand show of arresting people, at the same time they're pushing the latest BIG LIE that the Israelis were behind the bombing in Gaza.

In a series of articles, interviews, and cartoons, the Palestinian Authority media on Thursday claimed that Israel was behind the attack on the American convoy in the northern Gaza Strip in which three US guards were killed.
The allegations come even as the Palestinian Authority announced that its security forces have arrested a number of Palestinians from Jabalya refugee camp on suspicion of involvement in the attack.
114 Jakester  Sat, Oct 18, 2003 10:06:48am

the Muslims and Arabs are generally subhuman, hypocritical fascist garbage with no real morals or honesty. That's why the brainless **** can draw such a crappy cartoon and not be able to acknowledge the evil, stupid hypocricy of her Neanderthal mond. It doesn't surprise me at all that kindred spirits in the Black community here buy into to Hitler colaborating Muslim lie machine too. Even more contemptible is the left wing swill meisters here who'd condemn any conservative chrisitian before he even opened his mouth have nothing negatvie to say about some pile of Palestinian or Malaysian garbage when they go on their Hitler rant. Islam and Arabs are crap, backwards savages who might ruin everything if they got any more power!
