More Disturbing Warnings

Mon, Nov 3, 2003 at 12:58:24 pm PST

A jihad message board at Yahoo (why are they hosting these people?) corroborates the earlier report from DEBKAfile about possible imminent attacks against New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. Here’s the front page of this group, and here is the message warning Muslims in these areas to leave:

this is the last call for muslims in newyork, the east side, and LA to start leaving.

the mojahideen are now ready to teach the US a lesson it will never forget inshalaah.

alaaaaaaah akbaaaaaar.
daleel_almojahid

This heads-up comes from Internet Haganah, where they point out that these freaks have changed the picture on their front page today; previously they were displaying an image of Osama bin Laden in front of a scuba diver.

UPDATE: Why a scuba diver? It might have something to do with this: Al-Qaida training manual shows seaports top target.

maybe that was a subtle message that Osama is sleeping with the fishes.

But why would just Muslims be warned to leave? I thought the freedom fighters' resistance was only directed at our government and military, in opposition to our policies. This poorly thought out statement makes it sound like they want to sow carnage amongst all Infidels.

I do remember Monsoor Ijaz being on a jag lately about al Qaeda strikes on Western shipping, though I tend to see him as a doomsayer of dubious veracity. He certainly sounds good, and many of his claims are admittedly hard to prove. It's just that not much of it has panned out. Yet.

#5 revenge of chalmers: While I certainly hope not, why would they worry? NY seems to this outsider to have slipped back to LLL mode.

The cities of New York, L.A. and Washington are'nt the only cities that islamists should have to clear out of if another attack comes.

It is my belief that if you are a devoted muslim who understands and follows the koran, the very meaning of your belief makes you against me, makes you my enemy.

Just want to make that clear.

I had just finished warning my DH of impending apocalypse, when I asked for the time, which I can never seem to keep track of in November, when the weather has been so clear and summer-like. It always seems much later than it really is.

He had to cough, cause it was 9:11.

I think all these "the Muslims better leave NYC" stories are designed to freak us out. Al Qaeda has never indicated that it cares about the innocent Muslims who die in its attacks--remember how many Muslims died in the embassy bombings?

#23 snopes, If Muslims actually started leaving, then I'd worry.

I wouldn't worry even then. A lot of Muslim's tend to have a fantasy version of the world and are possibly more likely to believe this garbage than other people.

Since they have never warned Muslims out of the area before an attack, and they have given lots of false alarms to spread terror, it seems logical to assume that this is just bull$hit.

This is a lot of hot air. Right after 9/11, I remember some fat Al-Qa'ida jackass on videotape warning Muslims to "stay out of high buildings." They are full of crap - and lying is a big part of their M.O.

56 Weasel Hunter  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 11:50:28am

As you pointed out in a previous thread John, the call by Muslims for all Muslims to flee is reminiscent of 1948. The next predictable stage is for Muslims to demand New York as their homeland, since they were "forced to flee."

57 TheGreatSwami  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 11:50:37am

Haven't we heard this song and dance before? I mean, aren't they always just about getting ready to strike us hard? I don't think they have the capability. Also, what do you think the reaction of this country would be to another WTC or worse? Personally I would hope that we would show them what 'The Wrath of God' actually looks like by turning Saudi Arabia into a sea of glass. Nah SA is too close to Iraq, damn all our enemies are too close to Iraq. I guess we'll just have to judge the wind direction to pick which Muslim (may pigs pee upon their trousers) country ceases to exist.

#2 Catbert - scuba gear

I think this is one of those third-grade symbolisms that Usama is so fond of (btw, rumor has it that a certain part of his anatomy is on a third-grade level as well). When Usama gave his warning prior to the attack on the U.S.S. Cole in Aden, he was wearing a yemenese dagger.

However, the terrorists should know that we are more prepared this time around. I'm having fantasies of a U.S. Navy SEAL coming up silently from behind and slitting the throat of one of these ambassadors of peace.

Do you think we have the stomach to do what you propose in case of another WTC? Your language--"I would hope we would show them..." suggests you have as many doubts as I do. Retaliation in the subjubctive doesn't look so good to me.

64 kathy  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 11:56:35am

My fear. Because I just can't seem to hear the moderate Muslims, do you think that the terrorists have come to believe that those Muslims living here and prospering are doing their part in the war against Western civilization? Therefore, they have proven themselves, unlike the infidels at the WTC, to be true Muslims. Could that be the reason for the warning this time?

I would be curious to read what Robert Spencer has to say about this latest warning.

#63, No I don't honestly think we have the stomach. And I guess, long term that's a good thing. Wouldn't want to sink to their level and all. However, I firmly believe that Islamic Extremism is a plague. And unless it either A) reforms or B) is eliminated, this is going to go on and on. I don't believe that Islam is capable of a Reformation as Christianity was. Unfortunately I can't explain why I believe this to be the case.

Hussein Was Sure Of Own Survival

In separate interviews with The Post, several former high-ranking Iraqi generals not held in detention offered similar views. Hussein "had an inferiority complex," said Maj. Gen. Walid Mohammed Taiee, 62, chief of army logistics as the war approached earlier this year. "From a military point of view, if you did have a special weapon, you should keep it secret to achieve tactical surprise. . . . But he wanted the whole region to look at him as a grand leader. And during the period when the Americans were massing troops in Kuwait, he wanted to deter the prospect of war."

Interrogators asked Aziz whether Hussein was also trying to bluff Iran, fearful that his hostile neighbor might be developing weapons of mass destruction. Aziz replied, according to the senior U.S. official familiar with his interrogation reports: "Every time I brought up the issue with Saddam, he said, 'Don't worry about the Iranians. If they ever get WMD, the Americans and Israelis will destroy them.' "
In the end, say investigators, all of this fragmentary testimony about Hussein's thinking about special weapons is uncorroborated by hard documentary evidence or an unimpeachable inside source.
"The question we all have is, 'What was so damned important that you were willing to go through all of this?' " said Killip of the Iraq Survey Group. He continued: "I've not heard any totally convincing explanation that's backed up with facts. And it's truly puzzling."

Aziz has told interrogators that French and Russian intermediaries repeatedly assured Hussein during late 2002 and early this year that they would block a U.S.-led war through delays and vetoes at the U.N. Security Council. Later, according to Aziz, Hussein concluded after private talks with French and Russian contacts that the United States would probably wage a long air war first, as it had done in previous conflicts. By hunkering down and putting up a stiff defense, he might buy enough time to win a cease-fire brokered by Paris and Moscow.
Aziz's account, while provocative, has not been corroborated by other sources, said U.S. officials involved in the interrogations. They said they were aware that Aziz might be trying to pander to his American captors' anger at French and Russian conduct before the war.
In discussing Hussein's failure to use chemical weapons in the defense of Baghdad, officials said, the generals often rant sarcastically that Hussein's government did not even prepare land mines and other basic military defenses to block or slow the U.S. advance. Why, they ask, should chemical weapons be any different?

I don't suppose it would do any good to ask why Saddam resisted inspections quite as hard as he did if he had nothing to hide.

He threw the inspectors out and withstood a rather large cruise missile attack back in 1998 ( when Bush wasn't President). But he had no WMD (and they haven't been smuggled ( with French assistance, perhaps)) to Syria/Syrian controlled Bekaa Valley.

Last I heard, our troops had only been able to thoroughly search a few of the sites. So there may well be WMDs in there. Also, even if there aren't any after all, how does that automatically make Bush the liar. Spies have been known to lie to get bonuses. IMO Bush said what he said in good faith.

During WWII the Japanese-Americans VOLUNTEERED for war duty to prove they loved this country. This even though they were stuck in places like Manzanar. They were forcibly relocated, stripped of most of their belongings, and yet, they fought valiantly for America. Remember the 442nd? They didn't form a Council on Japanese American Relations (CJAR), or Japanese Public Affairs Council (JPAC). Today, moslems in this country do not speak out aggressively against the moslem enemies of America. Nor do they volunteer (in large numbers) for civil duty such as translators, spies, intelligence analysts. Do something pro-American??? No fuckin' way!!! So, am I to conclude that secretly they hope for the destruction of America and installation of Sharia??? I could be wrong. But the moslems have to prove it to me.

Hey, we can go one better, if we want to get into full Clash o' Civilizations mode.

In one of the stained glass windows in the National Cathedral here in DC, there's a motif that incorporates an actual moon rock, brought back by one of the Apollo missions.

In the k'aaba, as you note, there's a piece of meteorite.

So, summing up: one religious site contains a piece of rock that fell to earth, and continues to be worshipped by that religion's adherents for its supernatural qualities.

The other religious site also incorporates a celestial rock, but purely for decorative purposes; it just looks cool. And, unlike in the previous case; this particular rock, we went up there and got it ourselves.

Evil Twin Colt,

If you had hung out a LGF for while, you would know that most of us (excluding trolls and VFI) supported the war in Iraq because getting rid of Saddam was good for us and for Iraqis (and other living things). I was disappointed that Bush #1 didn't finish the job in 1991. Because Bush #1 gave into the appeaceniks of the U.N., we left the Iraqi Shiites and Kurds to be massacred. The U.N. dithered and 200,000 Iraqis were murdered. But rather than gather facts, you'd rather just spout some mindless little jingle. Get a life.

Further OT, but Just One Soldier can do you one better... (story is about 2/5 down the page; c/o Sullivan)

A few days ago we're all working on disassembling and assembling the M249 machine gun (aka "SAW" for squad automatic weapon)...After the guys got tired of this, we started working on taking it apart and putting it back together while blindfolded. This can be really tricky, by the way. While James (another city cop in real life) was taking it apart, he was having trouble with one of the parts and asked, "Does anyone have a Gerber? [multi-tool]" and he puts out his hand. Without missing a beat, M______ says, "Yeah, here.", whips out his d**k and puts it in James's open hand. Everyone was on the floor in tears. For about a good ten seconds, James didn't seem to know how to handle this unprecedented violation, and continued to work on the weapon before finally taking the blindfold off and making an attempt at trying to find some sort of physical retribution for the affront.

Hans ze Beeman

Thanks for that Lee Harris article.

By the way, I'm British, and what worries me is the idea of joining the Euro (single currency). This means, in effect, being told what to do by Froggistan and the Euroweenies. Before Sept 11 I hadn't given the matter much thought, but believe me the Brits don't like the Froggistans and the Islamofacists, whatever you hear in the lefty media.

Britain will not go down the Sharia route, whatever the other Euro-Islamoids do.

Please can you Americans not lump Britain in with the EU - nochs!!

Thanks

The Islamic Terrorism Club

The web, of course, is full of nasty sites and inflammatory postings. Such things are bound to crop up in a widely accessible medium that is uncensored. What makes alerhap--an al Qaeda website--interesting is that it offers an example of hate-mongering tolerated in a virtual environment that is actively censored: that of Saudi Arabia.

Sure enough, the same Riyadh regime that continually promises to curb incitement by its state-supported Wahhabi clerics and media--the same regime that successfully blocks websites airing enlightened attitudes toward women, Islam, pluralism, freedom, and democracy--leaves unimpeded inflammatory websites that recruit for violent jihad.

188 mpax  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 2:32:08pm

Curious- I never lump Britain in with the Eu-nochs.
I'm curious, however: if the EU constitution goes ahead, how will that impact Britain's ability to act on it's own behalf? I've read that the Queen is concerned how it will impact her role? True? Britain won't lose her sovereignty I hope.

189 Curious  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 2:42:28pm

Mpax

It worries me. However, I think the Queen and the Civil Service have a lot of behind the scenes power, ie they know which side their bread is buttered. And they know it's America, Australia etc rather than Froggistan, Krautistan who are buttering it.

Likewise, whatever impression you may get from the Guardian, there is very little anti-Semitism in the UK. The Brits, by and large have too much of a sense of humour to go in for that goose-stepping malarky. And PC, to my way of thinking, is just another form of goose-stepping.

I understand that at this point, I must say. I have always been pro-Euro in the past (both currency and political union), but the recent developments (the undemocratic constitution? France simply not caring about the stability pact at all while Germany is struggling to push through reforms? etc.) have made me wary too. I don't want Germany to be France's brainless political battering ram for their goals in the EU, and you habe seen what Sweden did. At this point, I'd trust your British feelings that the Continentals are going strange ways again. And as to islamofascists, the biggest problem of Europe is indeed France, and as to others it is too (agricultural subsidies? centralist structures instead of federalist structures? the EU as a counterweight to the US? brazenly bullying little EU countries in Breshnew-style?). And though the French are an important partner of the Germans, I trust the British more, though you may laugh at that.

Well said, Curious. I'll use that sometime to enrage my PC friends.

192 Julia the Horrible  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 3:15:20pm

Well, here in sleepy Bedford, VA, the main talk is about the apple and grape harvest, whether Co. Supervisor Kirby Richardson is guilty of all those counts of forgery, and who you are going to be sitting with when the eclipse of the moon happens.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans are worried about the police sharpshooting nuisance deer in the cemetery on Sunday nights, as some of the historic gravestones might be damaged. And everyone is gearing up for this year's Christmas parade in a month, as it kicks off the 250th anniversary celebration.

No, I'd say we're not real worried about any Muslim attacks here in Bedford. The closest thing we have to a Muslim (in people's minds) is Harjeet Singh, one very unobtrusive Indian convenience store owner and his family.

Now, if someone were to sabotage the Nascar track in Martinsville, or blow up Jerry Falwell, that would be big news.

Shalom.

I live in Jackson Heights, Queens, which has a substantial Muslim population (Bengalis, Pakistanis and some Arabs). After reading this thread, I went outside for a little walk to check out the happenings on 74th Street and 37th Avenue, where a lot of these “Halal”-oriented shops are. As of now, they’re still open. Lots of Muslims are walking the streets. Even the Muslim-themed vending stands (they primarily sell copies of the Koran and scarves for women) were open as of this writing. Who is to say what the case will be tomorrow or the next day, however.

The real test, in my opinion, will be Friday night. Every Friday, a group of Islamist “students” protest on the Southwestern corner of 74th Street and 37th Avenue, calling for the US and the rest of the Western world to institute Islamic law. I should snap some pictures of this as it is quite hilarious. Needless to say, these are – I’m assuming, as they speak perfect, unaccented English – American-born youth holding these ideas and preaching them around. Anyways, if these people are still around Friday evening, it’s safe to say that this threat was indeed bogus.

I have noticed that too.

It is a small fiction they use to somehow trump all the evil bilge they just voided. By saying this they fool themselves into thinking they are, deep down, really good and decent people at heart. It is a weak perfume used to cover a big stench.

and he said it scared him shitless, and that the music in the backround was chants of jihaad is great and such.
I asked him to tell me if his imam told him to evacuate LA :>

Another friend of mine sent me this, which seems like a nicely made and well thought out effort, except it is available in English, Spanish, and German. whoops. Not a lot of junior shaheeds speaking spanish Ill wager. Not that I support evangelism, but its certainly preferable to the alternative here.

As for the adorably inane troll: ima shelcha notenet min orahli tov meod. lchazirim.

And I have new definitions that may come in handy:
peace: not the absence of war but the absence of threat

war is not the answer
war is the question
the answer is yes, when necessary to protest ourselves from the forces that wish us dead or worse

DMV - you're kidding, there are actually protests to bring on the Sharia in Jackson Heights?

I'm surprised they're not on Atlantic Avenue.

But I get the sense that there is definitely something afoot on Court Street. I saw a group of young Arab boys throwing rocks at some Jews in a car. There is just a weird vibe on some blocks. Too many young (male) kids with nothing to do. (where are the girls? probably at home learning how to serve the men hand and foot)

224 DMV  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 6:14:07pm

Piano gal: I kid you not. I see this shit every Friday on my way home from work. It was pretty shocking at first, especially considering that these look like the normal run-of-the-mill college students with the baggy jeans, black t-shirts, et all. I’ll snap some pics if they’re still around at the end of the week.

You know, it’s scary what you mention on Court St. It wasn’t that bad before 9/11. Actually, they got along pretty well with everyone. Now, I see a lot more “scarves” and “beards” compared to before. Could be that I am know what to look for now, but I have always been a pretty observant person.

225 piano gal  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 6:26:55pm

It's not just you who notices the difference. Soon after 9/11 I started wondering, where did all these burqas come from? Pardon my French, ahem, Freedomese, but they can take their sharia and stick it...well, you catch my drift.

I knew it was patriotboy!

Here is what Boy Wonder sounds like when he's not huffing spray paint:

I have a masters in political management from The Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University and ten years of campaign experience -- I did it for a living for three of those years. I was good at it. Every campaign I had complete control over succeeded and I'm talking about Democrats in Utah ... now I think I need to dust off those old skills to help put this country back on track.

And to think we ourselves have now had the opportunity to witness those amazing skills. Our grandchildren will be totally enthralled when we tell them about this.

I'm not angling for a campaign job. I'm just going to try to move my medium sized swing Republican county from red to blue where it belongs. I'll do that by getting people excited about Howard Dean.

Yes, this foul-mouthed cretin is a Howard Dean enthusiast. Bet you didn't see that one coming, did you?

227 schuttegod  Mon, Nov 3, 2003 8:53:10pm

A little suspicious, no? If Islamists were planning another attack, why would they announce it on the Internet, in English? And since when are Islamist terrorists the least bit concerned for Muslims in the vicinity of the areas they attack?

And besides, wouldn't an attack on the United States be a distraction from the war on the infidels occupying Iraq (where they seem to be murdering just as many innocent Muslims as U.S. soldiers)?

These people make no sense.

OT, but Infrared Channel Four Imagery suggests a chance for a sub-tropical storm with gales and brief heavy rain for New Orleans.

Unfortunately, the 30C Gulf waters of early September are gone, and the water is only about 26C, so the development of a truly tropical system that could strengthen to Hurricane force before landfall is low.
