Sun, Nov 16, 2003 at 4:49:21 pm PST

A new message from Al Qaeda claiming responsibility for the atrocities in Turkey also contains threats against the US, Britain, Italy, Japan, and Australia: Al-Qaeda threatens Aussie attacks.

"We say to the criminal Bush and his valets among the Arabs and foreigners, in particular Britain, Italy, Australia and Japan: you will see the cars of death with your own eyes in the centre of the capital of tyranny," al-Qaeda said in an Arabic-language statement emailed to the London-based Arab newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi.

"They will not be limited to Baghdad, Riyadh, Istanbul, Djerba, Nasiriyah, Jakarta," the statement said, reeling off a list of previous deadly bombings in its warning to US President George W Bush.

The message claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack, which targeted two synagogues in the heart of Istanbul.

"Abu Hafz al-Masri Brigades struck a mortal blow after having kept Jewish intelligence agents under surveillance and determined that five of them were in two synagogues in the centre of Istanbul," al-Qaeda said.

The Abu Hafz al-Masri Brigades - al-Qaeda, named after its military chief killed in US operations in Afghanistan in November 2001 and a copy of whose statement the newspaper sent to AFP, implicitly warned of car bombings in the United States.

The statement also drew up a list of demands of the US and its allies, as well as calling for militants to join the anti-US resistance in Iraq.

"This is a golden opportunity for them (the allies) to understand the message and withdraw from the coalition of the Crusades against Islam and Muslims," it said.

"If they have not understood the language of words, that of the cars of death could explain it to them," said the statement.

It said al-Qaeda demanded the United States "put an end to the war they are waging against Islam and Muslims in the name of the war on terror and withdraw from all Muslim lands desecrated by Jews and Americans, including Jerusalem and Kashmir".

I remember being in 9th grade and wishing my life were more interesting.

That was the 90's. Now my life is more interesting, and I'm scared.

And there's nothing I can do about it but pray, and keep my bowstring greased and my knives sharpened...

So this is what Islam has come to. What is left of a formerly great religion are "cars of death".
I hope all these Saracens just commit suicide and leave humanity alone.

Well at least we can definitely know who our allies are:
Israel, Britain, Italy, Japan, and Australia

If these nations piss of the terrorists, they are with us for sure. We should thank them publicly.

I'm totally unsurprised that France and Germany are not on that list. Despite being in "the west" and unbelievers, they are buttering terrorist bread.

Funny how Jews desecrated Jerusalem...it was the Muslims who shot the place to bits during 1948 and shelled civilian neighborhoods and hospitals in 1967.
Not to mention destroying archaeological sites and ancient cemetaries...

oh yeah, Jews and Americans being alive in Jerusalem is a desecration. I keep forgetting how incredibly racist these guys are.

Did anyone watch 60 Minutes tonite? They did a piece on the utter vulnerability of our chemical plants. Huge storage plants, filled with lethal chemicals. Blowing up a car bomb could release Hydrogen Cyanide and other gases that would kill millions. If the bad guys didn't know about this before, we can thank CBS for practically giving them the ground plans and route for their car bombers to achieve maximum lethality.

From Cose Turche earlier this week:

This police chief gets it.

"...Reportedly, the police chief who searched Mamour's house replied to the objections of Mamour's wife (an Italian convert to Islam) by saying: "your husband wanted holy war, no? well, we're here precisely to give him holy war, don't worry, we'll satisfy all your demands" - which sent the woman even more berserk, protesting the "invasion" of her home and asking to see her husband and where had they taken him and he'd done nothing wrong and how dared they. At which stage, the police chief replied: "you keep quiet, madam, or there's handcuffs waiting for you too".

She then spoke to the media about how her husband had been misunderstood, and that he'd only really said he thought was in Iraq was unjust. Of course he said a lot more, but what's a good burka-clad wife to do, if not support her Jihad-loving husband..."

72 RightIsRight  Sun, Nov 16, 2003 5:18:08pm

Cars of Death.

Sounds like my first ride. A cherry '71 mustard colored Maverick complete with Swiss Cheese exhaust system, baloney skins all around, more "play" in the steering wheel than P Diddy gets in a year and a starter that had to be smacked with a hammer like a Saudi woman out after dark to get her rollin'.

Ahh, the memories... Waking up at 70 MPH on the grass shoulder of the NJ Parkway because my friend couldn't handle her steering "issues", exploring a vacant field in North Jersey only to set the parched grass ablaze (successfully extinguished with the dope shag seat covers) and doing a complete 360 on a rain soaked bridge (metal grate variety) heading to the Meadowlands for an Iron Maiden show (yep, the one with the burning cars in the parking lot).

She died a most noble death; I arrived for a first date at the homestead of my wench-to-be. Of course, I left the Mustard Maniac running so I didn't have to utilize the ever present 22 oz. persuader under the front seat. After suitably impressing the alpha male of the home with my pseudo mullet and parachute pants, I escorted his first born to her awaiting chariot only to find the front end engulfed in flames.

My damsel scampered back inside to for her padre while I attempted to shut ole Bessie down. No dice. She was detonating and pinging like a WWII submarine. Like a knight on a white stallion, papa appeared out of the garage with a hydrant sized extinguisher and put Bessie of her glory. An ignoble end to a most glorious life.

Papa was most generous and lent us his mint Cordoba replete with Corinthian leather for the night. May Allah have mercy on me if he ever discovers I violated his princess on said rear seat Corinthian leather that very night... It was the best 20 seconds of her life.

Crusades is right! Those crusades were nothing more than defense responses *at the request of the locals* to wild-donkey [bigoted word] aggression. You "defend" against somebody who "attacked"--d'oh...

From this week's News of the weird:

In October, U.S. Rep. Cass Ballenger, 76, R-N.C., told the Charlotte Observer that a large part of the stress that ended his 50-year marriage was the entry into the couple's Washington, D.C., neighborhood of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, to a building just across the street from the couple's townhouse, which is three blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Ballenger called CAIR a fund-raising arm of the terrorist group Hezbollah and said he and his wife were terrified at seeing women "wearing hoods" (perhaps meaning headscarves), moving boxes into the building: "(T)hey could blow (the Capitol) up." 128 J.D.  Sun, Nov 16, 2003 8:28:01pm

Geez, I wonder why terrorism is such a hot topic in the Middle East all of a sudden?/

Gulf officials are due to discuss the threat next month when the annual GCC Summit is held in Kuwait. Terrorism will top the conference's agenda; Bahraini Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar was quoted yesterday as saying.

The summit is set to take place on December 20 and 21. Bashmi said the leaders were expected to express their support for Saudi Arabia in its unrelenting war against terrorist groups.

An official at the Saudi embassy here said his country needed more than words of support. "It is time GCC countries put forward a common strategy to eradicate this plague," said Suleiman Al Rewashed, the embassy's political and economic advisor.

He lamented however that "some parties" were attempting to undermine the kingdom's campaign to protect its citizens from terrorism, referring obviously the Qatar-based Al Jazeera news channel.

[Link: www.gulfnews.com...]

And here's just a gem of an article by Gulf News' 'editor in chief'.

At a time when Saudi Arabia is being targeted by a despicable terror campaign, a well-known Western writer is back again, fishing in troubled waters and conjuring up bizarre scenarios that have absolutely nothing to do with ground realities in the Middle East. Thomas Friedman is beating the drums, claiming that he, at last, has discovered the ideal solution to the Middle East problem, one that has eluded the world for decades.

His fertile imagination links the terror campaign in Saudi Arabia and a recent European poll that found Israel the greatest threat to peace. Friedman equates the victim with the executioner; the legitimate authority with the occupation; and a peaceful and friendly country with a warmongering nation that covets...

Saudi Arabia does not need Israel's help

129 J.D.  Sun, Nov 16, 2003 8:35:37pm

And the ever-helpful James Zogby weighs in.

...The formulations underlying these various Middle East entanglements have been based on faulty ideologically derived assumptions. These include notions like: "they hate us because they hate our freedom" (thereby allowing the US to absolve itself from any responsibility in generating alienation and anger in the region); "they attack us because we have been weak and indecisive" (thereby validating the United States' use of unrelenting force in an effort to force submission); and "once Arabs democratize, Palestine will lose its appeal as a radicalizing theme" (thereby justifying sidelining the peace process)...

It gets worse.

#124:

That chart ignores what might be the most important group of guerillas making attacks on our troops in Iraq: guerillas. Just the plain old country boys who are looking for vengeance for their buddies.

(Not to sound like I defend their actions, because what they're doing is just as bad as what the Baathists are doing. But labeling all resistance in Iraq as pro-Saddam is blindly stereotypical, not to mention characteristic of the recent trend of seeing a black-and-white world-- much like the popular use of the "Saddamite" slur for all dissent here at home.)

More on this here.

The Old York Times is too gutless (so far this am) to post this editorial on their pages - but their wankers at IHT responsible for feeding the morlocks in Europe have officially announced - IRAQ IS A QUAGMIRE.

Their solution - turn it over to the UN and have the US beat a hasty retreat.

That is the precise reason that the job should be turned over to the United Nations. The United Nations has far more international experience, credibility and reputation for neutrality in these matters than the United States does. There is certainly no guarantee it can succeed. There is only the certainty that the Bush administration, which has made all the wrong bets so far, does not have any better options.

Let's think about this international experience and credibility -

1. Rwanda
2. Bosnia
3. Kosovo
4. Liberia
5. Congo
6. Enforcing 17 UNSC resolutions against Saddam and Iraq
7. Enforcing IAEA regulations against North Korea
8. Enforcing IAEA regulations against Iran
9. Running Palestinian refugee camps
10. Conspiring with France, Russia, and Iraq to siphon billions from the Oil for Food program
11. Saving Lebanon from invading...Syrians.
12. Fair and equitable dealings with Israel. (Is there a UN sponsored conference or group that hasn't condemned Israel for existing?)
13. Being a 2-bit democracy where 80% of the members do something that they don't allow their own citizens - VOTE
14. An organization that gives a 2-bit "power" like France a Veto on the UNSC because it was a "power" in 1945 (?) and ignores more deserving nations like Japan or India today.
15. This is the organization that ran from Baghdad with it's tail between it's legs after it was hit by a suicide bomber. Like France - its first instinct is to Surrender.

on the plus side -

1. The UN has marginally more credibility than the NYTimes does.

135 Athos  Sun, Nov 16, 2003 9:41:10pm

Additional proof that the UN is "suitable" for running Iraq...

In the UN, Arabs have the ultimate revenge over Israel

Ambassadors don't normally present resolutions at committee level, but since Israel had not presented one since 1978 (and that was withdrawn after the Syrians tied its future to negotiations with the PLO), it was a bit of a first. The Israeli resolution was a mirror copy of one sponsored by Egypt and passed (88-4, 58 abstentions) in the General Assembly three weeks earlier, underlining the need to protect the rights of Palestinian children.
The delegates were polite as Ambassador Dan Gillerman spoke. He asked for security for Israeli, Palestinian and all children of the world. He spoke of a "false reality" that pretends one side has a monopoly on victim status. He wished, he said, to prevent the blatant exercise of a double-standard in the UN
He mentioned the deliberate bombing of discos, pizza parlours and school buses, almost exclusively used by children. When he finished, the session chairman did not ask the names of co-sponsors for the Israeli resolution. Because there were none.
A discussion followed. The Syrian delegate strenuously opposed assistance of Israeli children and said the resolution was procedurally wrong. The Palestinian Authority's lady complained that the Israelis had "copied" their resolution. The situation of Palestinian children was "unique" she said - which it may well be, since most children of the world are not used as human shields for terrorist camps or encouraged to be suicide bombers so their pictures can be put up in grocery stores as "martyrs".
It is as if British children in the Second World War had not been evacuated to the countryside but rather placed around the War Office and anti-aircraft embankments. Afterwards, the PA lady conferenced earnestly for 20 minutes with a French delegate over procedurally thwarting the Israeli resolution so it would not come to a vote. The bluebottle returned to the most heated part of the committee room.
Unesco, Unicef and UNRWA spend much of their time visiting Israel and condemning it. The General Assembly, unable to pass a single resolution condemning Palestinian terrorism, routinely condemns Israel and calls emergency sessions especially for the purpose.
The reality of the Middle East is that the very existence of Israel is considered a nakba - a catastrophe. This being so, the Israeli Ambassador could present a resolution recommending all people be encouraged to breathe - and it would be unacceptable to that part of the world. Does the UN matter? Only insofar as the record matters. Certain things must be done not because they will make a difference but to set the record straight. This week, Third Committee delegates will consider deleting anti-Semitism from the new UNHCR resolution on racial and religious intolerance, thus giving new life to old canards.

Disgusting. And the US funds about 40% of it's annual operating budget.

The weapon of choice in attacking a synagogue is a car or truck filled with explosives.

Jewish communities around the world need to understand that they are at risk. And they need to know what the weapon of choice is.

The funding for this sort of terrorism against other religions comes mainly from the mad mullahs of Iran, and from the Saudi-Wahhabi entity. It isn't going to stop. That is their religious belief: kill the kafir, and especially the Jews.

Aren't there ways of helping to protect oneself from car/truck bombs? Perhaps synagogues need to consider relocating on property in which there is no possibility of a car or truck getting on the grounds, for some distance. Parking could be at some off-site garage. I know this is an expensive thing to do, but being massacred is not good either.

Perhaps the most difficult thing of all is to realize that the enemy is serious. Once the threat is understood, then progress can be made toward coping with it.

During the Nazi Holocaust, many of the Jews never really understood the full seriousness of the threat against them. In some ways, the radical Islamist threat is a successor to the Nazi threat: desire for world domination (the khilafa movement); militant supremacy ideology (a supremacist religious ideology, instead of a supremacist racial ideology); a special mission to kill Jews.

Kafirs need to wake up regarding the threat. And the Jews are like the canary in the mine, they are going to feel the danger early on. The most important thing is to start to take the threat seriously.
