Egypt's Chief Blames Health on Himself.

CAIRO, Egypt - Egypt's president blamed himself for a public scare over his health this week, saying he should have listened to doctors and stayed home instead of trying to give a televised speech while stricken with the flu.

In his first interview since he prematurely left the podium on Wednesday, the 75-year old president told the pro-government newspaper Al-Gomhuria: "I confess that I didn't obey the doctors' advice. They asked me to postpone the speech ... until the flu symptoms were completely over and until my health was back to normal."

Why the flying pig, you ask?

Because Mubarak didn’t blame his illness on Israel, of course!

That's what he gets for opening his mouth without his speechwriter's permission.

Patience, Patience, He will.

Blame it on the Jews, that is.

I'm a frequent reader and a very infrequent comment poster. Could someone quickly explain what the flying pig means? I've seen this reference before, but I'm not 'in' on the joke.

Great website by the way Charles. A must read everyday.

I can't believe it! The health of a leader of the Arab world in question, and the Zionist Entity isn't even mentioned? What is the world coming to?

#5 Sea Salt:

It's usually used in conjunctions with events that go against the norm. Such as the UN admitting it's a f*ck-up or the LLL turning against Islam.

good flying pig. but another one that applies, but my photoshop skills don't allow me to create: monkeys flying outta my butt...about as common as flying pigs..!

13 HULUGU  Fri, Nov 21, 2003 3:54:34pm

i think its a setup for a "doctor's plot"--dinars to hummas the doctors turn out to be copts and will disappear for not exhorting him not to speak enough

14 Doc  Fri, Nov 21, 2003 4:05:55pm

"When pigs fly"

It's easier than getting a picture of Satan on ice skates.

But clearly, the Mossad got to him - it had to be the Jews. "Don't blame us, and we'll give you the cure."

@10 zulubaby

Yeah, but with a grain of salt, a grain of salt.

Perhaps they'll follow the USSR's usual pattern, in which Premier Jerkov has "a cold", quickly followed by four days of funeral music on TASS Radio, and concluded with the announcement that Jerkov has died and the Politboro has elected Comrade Bastardoski to serve as Premier.

One can hope!

That's not a pig. That's Sheikh Nasrallah -- the embodiment of pig and monkey.

Way to go Hosni! Now how about having an election every couple of decades? Oh that's right, you're on what, your thirtieth straight year of "national emergency" preventing elections from taking place. Must be all the Is-rah-ay-lee checkpoints in Cairo.

About as lame as 50 yr old "refugee camps" with privately owned property and businesses, police, government, electricity and paved roads. Then again, the world's bought into that one too.

OT: It's 5:30 a.m. est. BBC is reporting two separate explosions in and around Baghdad and two separate police stations. Fifteen policemen are dead in total (some of those who probably graduated last week) plus several bystanders killed including a 2 year-old girl.

No statement as to whether Al-Qaeda or not but could be since the explosions came simultaneously.

Why does this remind me of The Simpsons when Nelson grabs Bart's hand, smacks him with it, and says, "why are you hitting yourself, Bart?"

26 William  Sat, Nov 22, 2003 5:54:17am

Who is next in line once Mubarak passes on?  His son?

Are we looking at a "moderate" in the future, or more of the same?

LOL, loudly.

IRNA reports:

Berlin Qods Day organizers warn of pro-Israel backers` disruption

Berlin, Nov 18, IRNA -- A planned pro-Israel demonstration is aimed at disrupting Saturday`s Qods Day rally in Berlin, an Arab source close to the Qods Day organizers told IRNA on Tuesday. "A counter-Qods Day demonstration is forming this year and one cannot rule out that these `counter demonstrators` will try to disrupt the rally which has been peaceful for years," the source said. "We urge all Muslim sisters and brothers to exercise maximum self-restraint and ignore provocations by the pro-Zionist demonstrators," the source added. Pro-Israel supporters have lobbied for years to ban the annual Qods Day rally in Berlin, citing alleged anti-semitic hate paroles. Several thousand people demonstrate peacefully each year at the annual World Qods rallies across Germany. Most of the protestors` slogans refer to Israeli atrocities in the occupied territories and the suppression of Palestinians` rights. Unlike other countries which commemorate World Qods Day on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, Qods Day rallies in Germany have traditionally taken place on Saturdays. OT/AH/210
