Our Friends the Saudis

Wed, Nov 26, 2003 at 11:33:40 am PST

MEMRI has a special report today on the Islamic Affairs Department of the Saudi embassy in Washington, and it’s a real eye-opener. Here is the section on jihad and the rewards that await “martyrs” who are killed in a holy war:

The IAD explains that any system opposed to Islam must be fought by Jihad: "The Muslims are required to raise the banner of Jihad in order to make the Word of Allah supreme in this world, to remove all forms of injustice and oppression, and to defend the Muslims. If Muslims do not take up the sword, the evil tyrants of this earth will be able to continue oppressing the weak and [the] helpless ... " [12]

The IAD cites many Hadiths on the importance of martyrdom as well as the rewards of the martyrs in order to inspire Muslims. Among these are some of the most widely associated with Jihad:

"Narrated Anas: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said: 'A man from among [the] people of Paradise will be brought forward. Allah will ask him: 'O Son of Adam! How did you find your home?' He will reply: 'O my Lord! It is the best home,' then Allah will say: 'Ask and wish anything you like.' The man will say: 'I would ask You to send me back to the world in order to be killed in Your way ten times.' (This is because of the superiority of the martyrdom and the high position which martyrs would have in heaven) ... We are alive in Paradise where we are provided with sustenance, so that they would neither renounce fighting in the way of Allah nor retreat at the time of war ... " [13]

"Narrated Ibn 'Umar : The Prophet (pbuh) said: 'Whoever of My slaves comes out to fight in My way seeking My pleasure, I guarantee him that I will compensate his suffering with reward and booty (during his lifetime) and if he dies, I would forgive him, have mercy on him and let him enter Paradise.'" [14]

According to Islamic tradition, those who are killed waging Jihad are rewarded in the afterlife. The IAD of the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C. cites Hadiths to describe what happens when a believer wages Jihad and commits martyrdom:

"Narrated Anas bin Malik that Allah's Messenger said: 'Allah has made in Paradise a wide valley in which He has created dunes of white musk. When it is Friday, Allah descends to it. The pulpits of gold are kept thin there for the prophets and chairs made of pearl are arranged for the martyrs and the maidens with big lustrous eyes will get down from their upstairs rooms. They all praise Allah and glorify Him.' The Prophet said: 'Then Allah will say: 'Cloth My slaves.' So they will be dressed. He will say: 'Feed My slaves.' So they will be fed. He will say: 'Make them drink.' So they will be made to drink. He will say: 'Perfume My slaves.' So they will be perfumed. Then He will ask: 'What do you want?' They will say: 'O our Lord! We want Your pleasure.' The Prophet said: 'Allah will say: 'I am pleased with you.' Then He will order them to disperse. So they will deport. And the maidens with big lustrous eyes ascend to the upstairs rooms. Which are made of green emerald and red ruby.'"

MEMRI provides a link to the page at the Saudi embassy where they recommend the IAD web site to Americans wanting to learn about Islam—but a very interesting thing happens if you click the link.

The page has been removed.

However, it looks like the Saudis are not yet hip to Google, and even though the oil ticks have tried to cover their tracks following MEMRI’s exposé, Google’s cache still has the page.

Jihad Watch also has a good post on this MEMRI report.

Tell me again why the Saudi embassy hasn’t been shut down?

Easy way to solve this whole ME thingie...just storm the Saudi embassy a la Iran, take 'em hostage, watch the Saudis ally with the Iranians ('shah, right). Then invade both countries.

Hey it worked during a game of Risk!

For a different take on "our friends the Saudis," see the recent U.S. News and World Report article (either Nov. 24, or Nov. 17 - I can't find a web link) on life in Saudi Arabia. It appears that more western values are seeping into daily life than the Saudi rulers, the Saudi mullahs, or anyone on this site would want to admit.

Start the revolution! I can hear the Jefferson Airplane singing it now! In Arabic, no less. A Muslim civil war (radical is-lamists vs. the liberal islamists) might just do the trick. Cue the music please.

Hogwash. Size alone does not make a religion "great", especially if their particular "god" has horns and a forked tail to go along with his forked tongue.

19 Morgan  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 9:56:35am

"And the maidens with big lustrous eyes ascend to the upstairs rooms. Which are made of green emerald and red ruby."

What's made of emerald and ruby? The rooms? The eyes? Better not be the maidens. I remember a bad experience I once had with a bottle of Mecca Cola. But never mind the details - all I have to do is kill some Jews or Christians to get in on the good life . . . death. . . whatever. And the maidens, regardless of their composition, won't even care that I'm foul-smelling, illiterate and toothless. What a wonderful 'religion' this Islam is. But don't ask me - ask a prominent Muslim iman in Philadelphia (the city of brotherly love) to celebrate the end of Ramadan (the month of unbrotherly hate).

"'Muslims are the peaceful nation,' Muhammad Al-Qasami told the press conference. "The Jews are the biggest terrorists of the world. The six local Muslim clergy, or imams, who had joined Al-Qasami on the dais did not immediately object to his remarks."

Gordon,

True. My parents used to take in ESL students studying away from home.

My initial reaction upon learning that they were taking a Saudi student was negative. He ended up being a very nice kid who enjoyed spending time with the family and actually helped out around the home. At the same time they had a Swiss girl staying too and she told us she could hear Wahib crying in his room every night. We asked him why and what was the matter. He said he loved it in Canada and hated life in Saudi Arabia but his parents were threatening to cut off his money supply and were concerned he was going to start going to nightclubs, he was, and drinking, he was, and talking to strange western girls, he was, and not going to mosque, he wasn't. I even tried to find a mosque for him and he said he wasn't interested and that he had enough of religion in his country to last a life time. It was too bad as there is an excellent Sufi study group in our city that I was going to direct him too.

Why do I hear that in Yoda's voice?

Actually, they may be taking advantage of multiple meanings of "great". It does mean large or big but in common usage we think of it as meaning really good.

The Muslims are required to raise the banner of Jihad in order to make the Word of Allah supreme in this world

That's all we need to know right there. Required. Jihad. Supreme. And if anyone tries to say 'holy war' means internal struggle, what is the sword for two lines down?

Feed my slaves, clothe my slaves, perfume my slaves. Slaves. Nuff said.

"Tell me again why the Saudi embassy hasn’t been shut down? "

because without cheap Saudi oil America would kind of shut down as well?

because Saudi Arabia is one of the many corrupt business partners of the United States (and of the Bush family, too -- check out Neil Bush funny post-911 trips there, you know, when he said that the Saudis just don't have a PR apparatus as good as Israel's) ?

anyway, check out the very good (former CIA agent) Robert Baer book about the Saudi Arabia/US oil connection

Did anybody happen to see that? THey had the native american guy on saying that kids wearing paper feathers and celebrating Thanksgiving is offensive to 'native peoples' because it's symbolic of the white man's enslavement blah blah and so on and so forth. The guy never took his sunglasses off the entire time, I think it's because he was high.

Can't pray in school, can't wear a cross or a star of David necklace. And now kids can't even do Thanksgiving? A totally non-religious, all-American holiday. Bah. What garbage. NEW YORK - Faced with strong opposition, Israel on

presented to a UN human rights committee demanding
protection for Israeli children in the

...Diplomats said the overwhelming opposition in
the committee to the Israeli text would make it

decided to withdraw the text.

HOW DOES SOMEONE BECOME A MUSLIM?

Simply by saying 'there is no god apart from God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' By this declaration the believer announces his or her faith in all God's messengers, and the scriptures they brought.

You really would think that the masses in Western Judeo/Christian Civilization would wake up.....

It is not like Islam tries to hide its brutal teachings and its Mein Kampf like directives......

What really pisses me off is when people try to defend Islam as still a benign force that is simply being twisted by a few bad people??? What a load of horse shit!!!

I expect this ignorance from Liberals but it steams me when libertarians and conservatives also prattle on that Islam is no better or worse then other faiths!!
ie Ben Noah........Gordon........and others......

Nothing could be further from the truth.....Islam's death march did not begin in 79.......it began 1400 years ago with the deranged teachings of Mahound!!!

Islam is uniquely brutal and barbaric and has more in common with Nazism and Marxism then it does any other faith systems!!

We in the West, if we are ever overtaken by this vile dogma and in Europe it is a real possibility, we cannot say that we were not warned........

Pray that people like Robert Spencer and Bostom and Warraq are able to get access to mainstream media and academia and expose the vile charltons like John Esposito and others in higher academia who brazenly lie about this murderous cult......

In that regard, bloggers like Charles and many others are doing a great service warning our slumbering masses of the degeneracy that is Islam!!

Kudos indeed!!!

87 BookerMatches  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 11:59:27am

Just in time for the Winter Festival of No Particular Religious Importance:

Abdul the wild-eyed camel.

The story of how Abdul (voice of Sean Penn) is driven away from his Saudi home for being insufficiently insane. He is joined by Herbie (voice of Jacques Chirac), the would-be suicide bomber. Together they make a pact to return to their home one day when they figure out how to kill as many innocent people as possible.

Later they are joined by Mullah Cornelius (voice of Ed Asner), the gruff but loveable crackpot Islamofascist. Together they have many adventures, paid for out of a Swiss account that proves difficult to trace.

Later on they visit the Island of Infidel Toys, and Adbul, Herbie, and the LLL chorus join to sing the signature song:

We're on the Island of Infidel Toys
We are men who prefer little boys
Though jihad has been quite a bust
All your bases are belong to us.

I don't want to give away the ending, but it involves a surprising amount of Semtex.

Where was the media then and where are they now - let us judge. Who is barbaric, who chops heads?…

Who chops heads?

This is a Saudi website, asking who chops heads?!

Stormi Abu Flashdance Legwarmers,

We all Float Down Here, Stormi

BTW, AG abu David Carr, Quark

Houston area now under a Tornado Watch.

So far, the cap between 2km and 3km hasn't broken yet ( the cap is a layer of slightly warmer, dryer air advected off the Mexican plateau, because it is somewhat warmer, it prevents the air from the surface from rising and becoming thunderstorms). The cap seems to be weakening, and with CAPE values in excess of 1000 J/kg, and helicity values near 250 m^2/s^2 with low cloud bases, tornadoes are a good bet in any deep thunderstorm that fires up later this afternoon and evening.

Italy to host Palestinian fundraising conference

The international community sends about US$1 billion a year to the Palestinians. The funds are used for humanitarian projects and help prop up the Palestinian Authority, which would otherwise cease to function.

I just can't take the bullshit anymore. "Humanitarian projects" my ass.

The Palestinians will present their 2004 budget at the conference and make a pitch for additional money, although Hammad declined to say how much the Palestinians were seeking.

Yes, blowing up Jews is becoming quite costly. Scum.

#30 Thom: My point is not that the current Saudi Arabian government is not bad (it is), the current Wahhabi ideology dangerous (it is) or the current Muslim imams incendiary (they are). My point is that it might just not stay that way, due to the infusion of western values (some of which right-wingers in our own nation deplore). It's not a guarantee; look at Cuba or China or Iran to see governments (successfully for now) repress yearnings for freedom from economic or religious or ideological shackles. But it gives one cause for hope that we won't have to take the infamous Kalle Kafir Forever's advice that "Mecca delenda est."

Charles asks, "Tell me again why the Saudi embassy hasn't been shut down?" Perhaps a little perspective is in order. Before WW II, both Japan and Germany, sworn fascist enemies of the western world, had functioning embassies in the U.S. All during the Cold War the Soviet Union, with whom we were locked in a grim struggle for western democratic values over communist values, had an embassy in the U.S. And you would shut down the Saudi embassy? Get a little perspective. That doesn't mean the embassy shouldn't be watched closely and have its activities curtailed, as we did with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. But shut it down? Way too extreme.

Before WW II, both Japan and Germany, sworn fascist enemies of the western world, had functioning embassies in the U.S.

And Pearl Harbour, we closed their asses down.

And you would shut down the Saudi embassy?

Yes, and I'd send the senior staff to Gitmo.

Way too extreme.

No, Gordon. Closing the embassy of the country responsible for 9/11, for channeling $300 million to G-d knows who and spreading Judenhass and Islamism all over the world, is not extreme. They should feel lucky to be allowed to leave.

101 William  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 12:52:31pm
Muslims are required to raise the banner of Jihad in order to make the Word of Allah supreme in this world, to remove all forms of injustice and oppression...

Muslims must spread Islam to remove oppression?  Islamic "reality" is more bizarre than any purpose-written fiction...

Gordon – Saudis drive SUV’s. An average-sized home in the Kingdom is 5000 sq. feet. They shop at malls, and the penalty in the Kingdom for converting from Islam to another religion is death. They drink coke, they chop off hands for stealing and slavery is still a reality within the kingdom. Wealthy Saudis paid for 9/11, they paid for Bali, they paid for the spread of extreme Islamic fundamentalism around the world, an extremist movement that has resulted in many thousands of deaths.

Wahhabism broke with established Islamic tradition by allowing jihad against other Muslims. Many Muslims believe that Saudi authority over Mecca is not legitimate. The Kingdom is a fascist cult with cash.

Many homicidal cultists had ‘western values’. Jim Jones’ cult was a bunch of ex-hippie socialists. Saudis have been saying they will change for decades and they’ve been killing people for decades. They’ve killed thousands in the past and they will keep killing until they’re stopped. The longer we wait around and do nothing, the more people will die.

104 J.D.  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 12:59:25pm

Wonder whether #98 thought this was extreme.

Well, actually, it was a rhetorical question since I don't really wonder.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

And remember that song folks used to sing after a couple of embassies were closed in the 40s:

"Praise the L-rd, and pass the amunition,
praise the L-rd, and pass the amunition,
praise the L-rd, and pass the amunition,
and we'll all - stay - free-ee-ee-ee!"

Prayer is the highest form of warfare.

106 LightTower  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 1:11:34pm

How easy is it to become a christian? Very easy - the work has already been done. Just accept the unblemished atonement the Holy One arranged before Herod's Temple was destroyed. You don't have to address anyone but the Living One.

That's the fast part. G-d gives instant redemption 8^D - but the salvation part takes a lifetime. :^}

He'll help you walk it out, working out your salvation over the rest of your life. If you're willing, He'll make you more like Him, less like your sin-prone self. Even though He does the work, you have to cooperate - which is enough effort to satisfy anyone who wants to "repair the world" for the benefit of the same One who created both the world - and you.... (I guess He starts repairing the world by fixing us, first!)

Feel free to rag on me via e-mail. I have my "forgiveness heart" in place, locked in and loaded with empathy.

And its nice to have a shmooze, nu?

And remember that song folks used to sing after a couple of embassies were closed in the 40s:

"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition"; was written by Frank Loesser. According to the song a chaplain ("sky pilot") was with some fighting men who were being attacked by an enemy. (Generally given at the time to be the Japanese at Pearl Harbor.) He was asked to say a prayer for the men who were engaged in the firing at the on-coming Japanese planes. The chaplain; the song went on to infer, put down his bible, manned one of the ship's gun turrets and begin firing back, saying, "Praise The Lord and pass the ammunition".

Actually, shouldn't it be "Umm Flashdance Legwarmers"? Not sure Ariel Fliescher would be too keen on an "Abu". Unless he has a kinky side that I don't know about. ;)

He will say: 'Perfume My slaves.'

Trying to picture this line in a movie - I try my best to picture Charlton Heston, but instead I hear Terry Sweeney.

Colt I agree with you 100%. After Pearl Harbor we kicked enemy diplomats out of the country. But . . . given that the Saudi "diplomats" are still in the U.S. I'd say that Gordon's observation

Way to extreme.

unfortunately represents the position of the Bush administration. Anyone disagree?

Yeah, W. is a great poker player, and I like the man, but hello? It's been over two years and the Saudis have not faced any consequences for orchestrating 9/11.

Did Roosevelt wait two years before avenging Pearl Harbor?

Did Texas wait two years before avenging the Alamo?

Did Delta House wait two years before entering the homecoming parade?

116 Gordon  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 3:13:45pm

Are the Saudis doing anything different from what the Soviet Union did during the cold war? We didn't shut their embassy down; we decided that it was appropriate to keep open channels of communication.

If you're ready to declare war on Saudi Arabia and bomb Mecca to smithereens, then I guess it's time to close down the embassy.

Well, we're not quite there YET....

117 mary  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 4:28:15pm

#114 Rayra – thanks.

#116 Gordon – “Are the Saudis doing anything different from what the Soviet Union did during the cold war?”

Like a lot of dictatorships, the Soviet Union was responsible for the mass slaughter and horrific oppression of millions of people.

Fortunately, the unlike the Soviets, the Saudis aren’t our nuclear or military equal. There’s also a civil war brewing in the Kingdom. They’ve been exporting that war, killing thousands of innocents. If every potential victim of Saudi terrorism (ie., most of the world’s population) withdrew our economic and political support from that country, isolate it, we could let them deal with their own problems.

Are the Saudis doing anything different from what the Soviet Union did during the cold war?

Yes they are if you read the 1st amendment of the Constitution of the USA:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free execise thereof:

So Gordo "How do you deal with this blood thirsty mob of muslims"?

119 AB  Wed, Nov 26, 2003 9:50:28pm

I noticed how Islam has completely hyjacked Black American history.
Because some Blacks have converted to Islam in the States (during the 1960s), that site claims Muslims were forced to work as slaves (on plantations in the 1800s) in the States and that America enslaved the muslims.
Their own history is so disgusting they have to steal from other cultures.

120 Mississippi Kid  Thu, Nov 27, 2003 3:12:44am
It is one function of Islamic law to protect the privileged status of minorities, and this is why non-Muslim places of worship have flourished all over the Islamic world. History provides many examples of Muslim tolerance towards other faiths: when the caliph Omar entered Jerusalem in the year 634, Islam granted freedom of worship to all religious communities in the city.

OMFG that is hilarious
