-RetweetSuppressed EU Antisemitism Report (Cleaned Up)

Wed, Dec 3, 2003 at 5:25:52 pm PST

Aaron Weisburd has done the blogosphere a great service and taken the suppressed EU anti-semitism report that was leaked to the Jerusalem Post, organized it into 22 pages, and added very helpful navigation. Great work. This is the report the European Union didn’t want the world to see, making explicit the very numerous links between the unassimilated Arab/Muslim immigrant population of Europe and the appalling rise in antisemitic attacks against European Jews.

I love it. Easier to digest and a quicker way to get the facts you need right away. Brilliant!

How unfair! The facts pointed out in the report offend the sensibilities of those who follow the pc-multi-culti religion. Who in turn are forbidden by their faith to criticize those who are following their faith when they try to kill Jews. What solution is then appropriate to all in Europe, other than the Jews just laying down and dying?

NPR had a report on today's Morning Edition, and, amongst other things, they explicitly discussed the role of the "anti-globalization left" and their habit of juxtaposing the Star of David and the Swastika, in protests and on multiple websites.

Uh-oh. Now Luxembourg is acting up.

In mid-May, an anonymous letter was sent to a representative of the Jewish community with the following content: "Down with Sharon!"

To the question "regarding people who say that the Holocaust and the gas chambers did not exist, what is your position?", 51% estimated that "these people should not be condemned because everyone is free to think whatever they want"; against which 48% said "these people must be condemned because they deny a serious historical fact".

From a survey in France in 2000.
Manifestations of anti-Semitism in the European Union - France

F**king 48% think it's OK if people don't believe in the Holocaust! What in the hell is wrong with France?

Many British Jews are of the opinion that the press reporting on Israeli policy is spiced with a tone of animosity, "as to smell of anti-Semitism" as The Economist put it. In their opinion this is above all the case with the two quality papers, the Guardian and the Independent.

Why does the EU report on Manifestations of anti-Semitism in the European Union editorialize that al Guardian is a quality paper?

9 James  Wed, Dec 3, 2003 3:43:37pm
In Spain (total population 40 million) Jews were recognised as full citizens in 1978.

Didn't know that. Good grief. The EUnuchs think they're the progressives?

Bedecked in their finery, the EU leaders gather to discuss the Jew-hatred in their midst:

Because the Guardian recycles the leftists bromides so dear to the EUnichs. See [Link: dailyablution.blogs.com...]

Here's the money quote:

it can be concluded that the anti-Semitic incidents in the monitoring period were committed above all either by right-wing extremists or radical Islamists or young Muslims mostly of Arab descent, who are often themselveSäpotential victims of exclusion and racism ; but also that anti-Semitic statements came from pro-Palestinian groups

Where the hell is ahem?

Internet

State authorities, academics and research institutions engaged with racism and anti-Semitism should establish joint committees at national and international levels to monitor anti-Semitism on the Internet. Through mutual exchange these committees should establish a basis for an improved recording and combating of racist and anti-Semitic developments on the Internet.

One easy way would simply be to follow the example of LGF.

I found some of the French survey data oddly encouraging:

97% of respondents judged that writing anti-Semitic graffiti is "very serious" or "rather serious"
87% of the respondents considered that "anti-Semitic acts against synagogues in France" are "scandalous; the state must punish the culprits very severely"

For the sake of brevity, let's change that question to: What in the hell is right with France.

Slightly off topic, but it's only gonna get worse.

Politically correct European politicians, ever mindful not to offend their newly arrived Muslim brethren, have done little to aid in the assimilation process. As a result, immigrants who settle in Europe's Muslim communities are often greeted with the same sharia-inspired mayhem that they left behind in their countries of origin. From England to Holland to Greece, many European Muslims have managed to segregate themselves from society at large and maintain harsh traditions ill-suited to the West. As the number of unassimilated Muslims grows and Europe's elites continue to remain silent, the ultimate victim may turn out to be Western civilization itself.

I read the Preface, Introduction, and Executive Summary. There were no occurences of in the Preface, there were several in the Introduction, and a couple in the Executive Summary.

I haven't checked anything else, but it was easy enough to just search on Sä.

24 Engineer  Wed, Dec 3, 2003 5:01:15pm

The way I see it, there are two types of people that deny the Holocaust. First are those that are dumb and poorly educated. Second are those who know damn well that it happened, but deny it for political reasons. I pity the former, but have nothing but loathing for the latter.

However, there are a large number of people who will say that yes the Holocaust was bad, but I am not a Jew so it doesn’t concern me. These are the people that would stand by and watch it happen again. The fact that apparently half of France feels that way is very, very bad. If only we could convince them that this time the Jews will only be the first to go, that they will be second.

I know this sound defeatist, but I sure haven’t seen any good news lately.

A warning should be in the FAQ that LGF can cost you keyboards and require cleaning your monitor often:-)

@25 Mr Pol

I saw a perfect keyboard for LGF at a computer shop the other day...it was made of solid rubber. *lol
The tech uses it on his workbench, and doesn't have to worry about spills...it was rather strange looking.

31 The Sanity Inspector  Wed, Dec 3, 2003 6:21:20pm

I'm sure someone already posted it, but here is an article in the London Telegraph about how the report's authors are complaining that the EUnuchs told them to softpedal the data implicating Muslims in attacks on Jews. To wit:

Prof Werner Bergmann said the centre repeatedly asked for the draft report to be changed to soften its conclusions about young Muslims. Alterations were also sought when it linked anti-Semitism to both anti-Zionism and criticism of Israeli politics.

His co-researcher, Dr Juliane Wetzel, said: "The EUMC didn't want to publish the report because it's not politically correct. The results give the EUMC problems because it wants to protect exactly these groups."

32 editor  Wed, Dec 3, 2003 8:10:15pm

Here is the first paragraph of the "Recommendations" section of the report:

The upsurge of anti-Semitic criminal offences and verbal assaults against Jewish citizens and institutions, but also against Muslims, prompted the Interior Ministers of five EU Member States (Belgium, Germany, Spain, France and the United Kingdom) to issue a "Declaration against Racism, Xenophobia and Anti-Semitism" in April 2002.

Anti-Semitic criminal offences and verbal assaults against Jewish citizens and institutions, but also against Muslims?

In effect, this adopts the well-known Arab claim that since they are Semites, they are the true victims of anti-Semitism. Even as they report on anti-Semitism, the EU-niks lend support to its adherents.

33 ashan  Wed, Dec 3, 2003 10:25:38pm

The report was also posted - ever so briefly - on the Jerusalem Post website.

An interesting note from a JPost article about missing PA files: Revenue files 'disappear' from PA Finance Ministry

On another issue, Khraisheh, who heads the parliamentary monitoring committee, said that the European Community had earmarked $10m to print and publish a booklet on the Geneva Accord. Noting that the Arabic version did not reflect the true content of the agreement, Khraisheh described the agreement as a "farce." He described the signatories as "failed academicians."

Hmmm

34 david  Thu, Dec 4, 2003 3:48:15am

The report was shelved because it was not scientifically valid. So the conclusions were meant to be inaccurate.
Funny to read that when you live in France, heh, MrPol? These bloody scientists are sooo disconnected from reality aren't they?

36 John Smith  Mon, Dec 8, 2003 3:47:18pm

I managed to spot one questionable use of statistics in the first five minutes of skimming the full version of the report! Perhaps the EU pen-pushers really did have some valid technical grounds to keep it under wraps after all...
