Islamozombies on parade. Show the world that you can do a great deal simply by marching through the streets, firing AKs into the air and chanting for the death of the Great and Lesser Satan!

OT -- Israel, Mulling Unilateral Steps, Sets Egypt Talks

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel and Egypt hold unusual high-level talks on Wednesday amid signs that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon might take unilateral steps to break a Middle East stalemate with the Palestinians.

Both Egypt, the key Arab intermediary in the conflict, and the United States, main sponsor of a "road map" peace plan, were likely to take issue with Israeli unilateralism as it could strip away territory Palestinians seek for an independent state.

Wow. This could be huge. Or nothing at all. Hard to say.

What a damming picture! A headless terrorist is leading a visibly unhappy boy, and a huge finger pointing right at ya. Are they trying to intimidate us, or can it be that the photographer who took it and submitted for publication has second thoughts about terror?

Remember they only carry toy weapons, the Jews are just playing dead.

OT: O'Reilly reporting Col. West (scared an Iraqi suspect to get info to save his troops) won't face judicial punishment, but non-judicial evaluation by his commander. There may be some punishment attached, but it won't be criminal charges, and he'll probably get to retire. Whoohoo!

Non-judicial punishment for a man in his position is mandatory retirement. He could fight it and stay, but he will never command again, let alone in the combat role he has shown the skills for. I salute him, but his career is over.

I'm a "trusted agent" for the IG inspection we're going through this week. The terrorists are "white supremacists", not the true enemy, PC is still way too prevalent in the the US military.

But the way it was reported before, it sounded like homey was possibly going to jail, and definitely not going to be allowed to retire period. No bennies for him and the family after all his service.

Sucks to be West. And the military can't win here by punishing him as previously planned or by letting him off the hook. But seems like a big improvement to me for all parties.

I don't know if you had seen my other post for you. Not the one that I thanked you, but the one I was referring to in that post.

Here it is.

27 Grandma  Tue, Dec 9, 2003 3:51:53pm

I don’t know if this is the correct thread to post these comments on, but I’ll risk it on this thread and do it anyhow. I grew up in Elizabeth, NJ. During the late ‘40’s and through the 50’s I lived in the Elmora neighborhood. By the name you’d think it was a Latino area. But no, the locals called Elmora Ave. “New Jerusalem Ave.” because of the great influence of Jewish people. And this post is dedicated to those Jewish people that made up my neighborhood and my childhood.

This is for you, Abigail and Naomi. Thank you and your grandfather, who frightened me with his great white beard, yarmulke and huge girth for letting me sit in your parlor to watch the 12” black and white TV cartoons every afternoon for 15 minutes. We didn’t have a TV until 1956, but you included me in, and I loved it.

Thanks to you, Norm Gerson, who owned the butcher shop/grocery store. You clued my parents in to the rooms above your store that were for rent, and we moved in. You carried my mother on the grocery bill, and even treated me to slices of corned-beef and cheese when I went to pick up her order.

This is also for Gertrude Young, a German ex-pat lady who ran the bakery next to the movie theatre. I worked there for two years and still have a taste for her Hammentashen, Rugullah and Challah (spelling ???). She knew her customers, and treated them well. I have yet to taste a bagel like those she imported from Brooklyn!

I remember Goodman’s deli. I have never eaten a better sandwich; you could hardly get your mouth around it. And Stu Goodman would always let you pull a kosher pickle out of the barrel, if you insisted. He complained, but always got over it and forgot to charge.

And my friend Susan, who at 13 years old invited me to the YMHA for a “social” and a sleepover later at her house. I got my first kiss from David, a gorgeous Jewish boy, that night, and I’ll never forget it. The next morning her mother soaked Matzos and mixed them with eggs to make a great breakfast for us. She hung a name on that dish, but I just don’t remember. Anyone know?

And then my mother. As a small child, I was not allowed to touch some of my parents’ things. Off-limits were some books that today would be called “coffee-table” books. They were “Best Photographs of 194…whatever”. I recall being disobedient and looking through those books. They were filled with black-and-white photos of the horrors of the Holocaust and W.W.II. The pictures of the Jewish people in the European ghettos and the concentration camps really disturbed me. My mother realized that something was troubling me, and it didn’t take much on her part to get my confession. She understood that I was worried about my Jewish friends, and concerned that maybe the “bad people” would come and take my friends away. She never reprimanded me for my offense, but instead just reassured me that the war was over and that those things weren’t ever going to happen again. My mother passed away this past year. We never spoke about that time again. I wish that she was still here to reassure me, however, today I have no illusions. That which I thought could not happen again seems to be possible today. And like then, I don’t understand it. But I do know, that over my dead body, will I allow anyone to harm anyone just because of a group they belong to.

Sorry to use up so much of your bandwidth, Charles. But I thought I’d confirm my support for you and so many of your posters, who may not know that there are those of us out here that might seem silent, but can be counted upon to do the right thing, when and if necessary, for the Jewish people who we learned to love so many years ago.

@23 Mr Pol

Until we can run the Clintons out of the politicking business I'm afraid we'll just PC ourselves to death.
Until we get some people elected into office that have the balls to speak the truth this crap will continue.

Col. Wests actions should have never been reported, and he should have never been brought up on charges.
He was dealing with a terrorist not a soldier, anything he deemed necessary to save his men should be accepted as in the line of duty. This is a shitty shame.
For our service men and for our country. The next time the troops may not be as blessed by having so stalwart a leader.

Gee, that kid looks so sad - perhaps Santa will send him a "toy gun" for Christmas. Wait a minute - he probably hates Christians, so maybe we send him the "toy gun" for Chanukah? Oh, I forgot, he's old enough to read so the Islamonazis have already taught him to hate Jews too. Guess in a year or so, he'll be holding a real gun and ready to kill all of us.

I asked the IG General why the "terrorists" are white.

Good on you! Maybe ask how high up on the national threat scale white supremacist groups are. Or "Aren't the Mecha/Atzlan/La Raza folks a more likely threat?"

Sorry, but I hate PC. And even more than that, I hate the blatant racism of "only white people do bad things" that PC has brought us. "White man, white van" ring any bells from not so long ago? Anything that divides us by race, no matter what that race is, only fuels a cycle of resentment.

Who wants a PC military in the first place? It's as if we spent the Cold War developing training and tactics for fighting against the Aussies.

Excellent article on the necessity of the Israli barrier by the Editor in Chief of U.S. News & World Report. Makes a no-bones argument in favor of the fence, and against the insanity of the renewed "peace proposal", not to mention eviscerating Arafat.

As a matter of fact, U.S. news has a rather lengthy article on the origins of terrorism, and lays the blame unequivocally at the feet of the Saudis.

Sometimes, it's popped into my head in the midst of sharing troubles or a good laugh with a Jewish friend. I suddenly think, "And Hitler would have killed this mensch, this good, kind, fun person." I read the Zuckerman article - superb!! I am so angry that the Israelis did not build it years ago. The Shin Bet fellow who said that the fence (what is already in place) has already paid for itself in lives saved is spot-on. Curses on anyone is opposed to the sensible and rational idea of a security barrier between Israel and the Freaks. Without a security barrier there is no way in hell that Israel could have stopped all the splodeydopes that they have the past two months. Already we see by the interrogations of captured Freaks how the security fence is forcing them to seek entry spots into Israel where there is not yet a fence.

Thanks for a very touching post.

I had Jewish friends too. A boy I went to school with was the son of the Israeli Ambasador in the country I was living in at the time.

Mr Z. always made us welcome in his house, some of the boys from my school were Syrian and Egyptian. Mr Z. made them welcome in his house too and treated them like his own family. We were never allowed to leave Mr Z's house hungry. Mr Z was a true gentleman.

Probably why I'm so rabidly pro-Jewish and pro-Israeli in my adulthood. (and Pro-American too.)

I have been waiting for a photo like this for a long time..I just don't know how to go about my point. First I believe in "Gun Control" i.e. hit what you are aiming at. Second, be sure you are using the tool correctly - if you cannot use it correctly, my dad always said that you shouldn't be allowed to even hold it. This joker is not holding this "tool" anywhere near correctly. You NEVER, NEVER just carry the gun with your finger on the trigger. He is just asking for an accident. I have seen so many pix of these jokers with no gun safety concepts whatsoever. SHEESH!! Who the hell is giving these guys the guns in the first place? You can bet your ass that the Israelis sure have been trained in the use of guns..and I bet you will never see a photo of any Israeli soldier holding his gun with his finger on the trigger...Unless it is aimed at some ___ with the intent to fire his weapon.

Sorry for my ramble...but I HATE to see threse yahoos with no discipline holding guns, or for that matter any responsibility.

Thank you foir letting me get that off my chest.

Koh Yoh Tey is his name. It is Navajo, and means 'he who has no tail'. That is another long story! He was named by a good friend who took him from my farm as a pup until he started med school a couple of years ago. So, Koh came home to me. Now I'm going to look at your pic of your dog, again. *lol

Grandma's story brought back memories, and prompted some tears.

Let me share a story.

My father was born before 1900 in South Africa; his father was an expatriate German. I hate to admit it, but my father held antisemitic views much of his life. He came to this country, studied dentistry, and established a practice in Florida in the '30s. After the war, a young doctor fresh out of the Navy opened an office next to his. I don't know what their relationship was like, but in 1947 my father's health failed and he had to give up his practice. Although we had no health insurance, Dr. Marcus continued to treat him until his death over ten years later, making many house calls. For a doctor he had a terrible memory. He forgot to send a single bill. That kind omission enabled my mother, on a teacher's salary, to send me to MIT where I graduated with a degree in chemical engineering. He died before I could thank him.

How could I honor such a man? I downloaded a copy of the Kaddish, and one afternoon I stood before a stone marked NATHAN MARCUS, MD, and read the ancient words. Then I placed a pebble on the stone and left.

Yes, I know that it takes a minyan to say Kaddish properly, but I'm sure that G-d will cut this Methodist boy some slack.

@73 Ernie G.

G-d always reveals Himself in mysterious ways.
I guess now you understand even with a degree from MTI there is one who is of a higher mind. It shows in the lesson you've shared with us. Thanx. :)

#73 Ernie G--well, that's my second bout of waterworks this evening!

Hugs.

Beautiful post, Grandma...but now I've got a craving for matzoh brei...although I'd settle for a nice bubbela with some grape jam on it.

Well, join the club in driving everyone off. I usually just take one of our cameras from work to take the pictures I have. Heaven forbid when I actually break down and buy my own. I'm lucky that there are a lot of animal lovers (at least I tell them they are :-) ) at my work who get my weekly emails updates.

78 quark2  Tue, Dec 9, 2003 6:34:58pm

@77 Right Wing Conspirator

Well I'll join that gang of animal lovers. Let's see, I have what...7 dogs, mumble mumble cats, 2 chickens and 22 horses [not including the ones coming next spring!] That camera will get a great workout!

What kind of dog do you have?

79 Julia the Horrible  Tue, Dec 9, 2003 7:28:23pm

Dear Grandma,

thanks for the story of Old Man Gerson, even if he was a schmuck...

yes, we shared a few times in old Elmora...

Remember Harry Pfuffuffnik...(sp)

and remember... I worked at the Majestik Bakery downtown run by the Russian Jews...for a dollar an hour after school back in 1966? ...but they made the best challah and Russian rye bread and bagels...

And remember my friend Linda Feldstein, whose parents were in the Camps, and if they found out that our grandfather was German, I would never have been allowed to play with her?

And how I used to beg Mom to let me go to Hebrew School because all my friends at Shelley Avenue School went??

Thanks for the reminders, Grandma.

Shalom,

Julia

I love this quote from the U.S. News article

Imagine Sean Penn, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark, Ralph Nader, and George McGovern negotiating American policy in Iraq.
81 Diane L.  Tue, Dec 9, 2003 8:03:00pm

Maybe one reason there are always kids at those demonstrations is, they keep the Israelis from taking action, i.e. the kids are being used as hostages.

82 Brown Line  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 1:59:30am

To Grandma,

Many thanks for the post. I too have fond memories of growing up with Jews in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago during the 1950s and 1960s. Anyone who was there at the tiem will remember the blintzes Ashkenaz deli on Morse Avenue, or Roberts Restaurant at the corner of Devon and Western, where a corned beef sandwich and matzo-ball soup was a feast?

I can only echo Grandma's sentiments: many, many of us in this country say "Never again!", and mean it.

That's really beautiful! It really touches the heart to think you found out about the Kaddish and did it for that man.

It's a what Jews call a 'Mitzvah', a good deed. The good thing about Mitzvahs, is than when you do one, you not only get all the good vibes that goes along with it, but the mitzvah radiates out through the world and other people are touched by its goodness. Just like me now!

Oh and don't worry about a minion, it only takes one good person to do a mitzvah, not ten! Hashem knows that you did a good thing and its doesn't matter what religion you are, He won't forget it!

JW AND ERNIE, 73

Ernie, your story was beautiful, and JW, so was your response.

88 Jed  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 3:44:52am

Grandma - I also grew up in the Elmora section - lived on Galloping Hill Road from 1948 to 1967. Went to the JEC, spent a lot of time on Elmora Ave. Thanks for the memories.

Jed, #88:

Maybe you also remember pitchers of beer at Eddie Malone's tavern on Magie Ave? And winter sledding on the Galloping Hill golf course?

Great times, they were. It's so amazing to find so many people here at LGF that can trace back to Elmora.

92 WriterMom  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 4:33:54am

Grandma-your story really was beautiful. My zaidie made us matza brei with soaked matza+milk+an egg, then topped with sprinkling of sugar. Really easy if you ever want to try yourself.

Ernie G, your tribute was so moving. I am all teary. Thanks for sharing that.

Lizzy-you're an illustrator? I'm a writer. Maybe we could talk? I'd love to work on a project like that if you and Grandma want to collaborate? I'm including my e-mail here. It's an amazing story and I'd be honoured to work with you both.

Please do get in touch.

93 AG abu Houston  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 5:17:18am

We need more people like Grandma and Ernie. I wish people would just stop trying to kill us.

94 Andrew Ian Dodge  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 5:52:21am

Grandma wonderful post. For some reason, my mother and I have always found ourselves with lots of Jewish close friends. I have had 3 (or is it 4) Jewish girlfriends...so I seem to be attracted to them. Judiasm is a wonderful religion and it can be quite incomprehensible why its adherents are so hated. I have just finished reading Why the Jews? in an attempt to fathom Muslim and the left's hatred for them.

BTW: What is the code for strikethrough?

95 David Simon  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 6:08:27am

Grandma and Ernie - I'm verklempt! Thank you so much for those wonderful posts.

See, these people you knew live on in OUR memories now, because you told us about them. I think that is wonderful. LP

Thanks to you both.

Grandma:

I was racking my brain, trying to figure out why "Elmora Avenue" seemed so familiar.

Then I remembered - I had a friend who lived just off that street, in the vicinity of Kean College. Is that the same neighborhood? His last name was Scalley.

103 Evariste's Zaide  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 2:23:09pm

Ernie G,
I think Zulubaby would agree with me that you have a Jewish neshama. And that, if you don't know it, is one of the highest compliments a gentile can receive. Wear it proudly!

Grandma,
thanks for sharing that.
Now get to work & write down ALL your sweet memories for us to share. Who knows, your stories could wind up as movies on TV. If you need help, I'm sure there are folks reading this who'd be honored to be allowed to assist.

104 Julia the Horrible  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 2:29:17pm

#88 Cool to hear from another Elmora person...

I used to feel sorry for the JEC kids --I'd see them getting out of school at 5:30 at night...I bet they were smart, though.

"Grandma" and I lived on Summit Road, a few blocks from Galloping Hill, just off Westfield Avenue. We moved to Clinton in Dec. of 1967, my senior year in HS.

Alan Berger, Jeff Stein, Ron Roth, Michael Hoffman, Leon Orgel, Kate Orgel, Susan Tarlow, Sharon Gruber... I dont know what happened to any of those people except Sharon, finally found her on Classmates.com.

I was the only shicksa in my elementary school crowd. I sometimes wonder if I will run into any of them here.

The old neighborhood was good. People who didnt have that experience have no idea what it was like, for Jews and non Jews alike.

I used to babysit for a very wealthy Orthodox Jewish couple... I got the two refrigierators & dishwashers mixed up once with the meat and dairy, ooh there was hell to pay.

shalom, dude.

105 Grandma  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 3:41:12pm

Frank IBC, #102

That would be right. Before it was known as Kean College, it was Newark State Teachers College.

106 zulubaby  Wed, Dec 10, 2003 3:57:16pm

Look what Grandma's beautiful words created here. It's incredible! Ernie G (#73), bless you, that brought tears to my eyes.

#100 Joshua

A bubbela (bubela?) was another Passover-time treat , matzoh meal mixed with egg and fried in a pan to make a Jewish hotcake, of sorts. Needless to say, they were scrumptious.

RE: Kaddish post ErnieG 73

I am Ernie's daughter, Lisa. He wanted me to tell you how much he appreciates all of your kind comments. He wrote comment #73 at one sitting while going through a pre-op drill for surgery and he has asked me to make this post on his behalf.

He was blown away be all of your kind words, and he regrets not making this post himself. He was particularly touched by Evariste's Zaide post and he accepts the honor with deep gratitude.

Your loving response is a tribute to the LGF community and has helped my father get through a long and difficult surgery. He hopes to be with you as soon as he is out of the hospital.

I, and my family, thank you for the strength and good will you have given him.

109 zulubaby  Thu, Dec 11, 2003 4:34:16pm

LisaG, please wish your father well and thank you for your beautiful post. It's very touching, bless you. Now I want to cry again!

110 Charles  Thu, Dec 11, 2003 5:06:25pm

LisaG: your father is a very special man, and I thank you for posting on his behalf. Please let him know that I wish him a speedy recovery, as I'm sure everyone here does. His contributions are very much a part of what makes LGF a special place.

111 AG in Houston  Thu, Dec 11, 2003 5:09:34pm

Godspeed ErnieG.

Thanks LisaG.

112 cba  Thu, Dec 11, 2003 6:02:32pm

Lisa, please pass on my best wishes to your father for a speedy recovery. As I said #75, his story moved me to tears.

113 Julia the Horrible  Thu, Dec 11, 2003 6:31:19pm

Hope Ernie is resting well post-op.
