LOL!

2 The Sanity Inspector  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:31:41pm

Damn cultural hegemonists!

*snicker*

3 evariste  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:33:03pm

Charles, this is really underhanded of you. After all, how can you stoop so low, to mocking someone for his grief, losing his godfather? Really uncalled-for.
I thought I'd pre-empt the whiners.

4 Flaming Sword  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:36:31pm

If they let that picture get any closer to the flames, it'll be...(wait for it!)..."a hunk, a hunk of burning love"!

5 evariste  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:37:19pm

Flaming Sword, check out the title of the post :-)

6 tomcat  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:37:42pm

I really think they need to upgrade to a George Foreman grill.

7 John B  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:40:02pm

Can anyone think of another group (or "people") who consistently pick the losing side more than the Palistinians? I can't - so far they have a perfect record.

8 Flaming Sword  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:40:26pm

#5 evariste:

AHHH! How embarrassing! My attention to detail must be slipping badly!

10 mohammed Al Mashat-Myself  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:42:15pm

The damn Gravy Train just de-railed.

Oh well, the Eurabians will provide.

Damn Zionists.

11 FreakyBoy  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 2:45:14pm

I hear the daughter watching spongebob in the den. Spongebob sez:

"Flats is a victim a violent culture...a violent culture going down a road of violence...a road I like to call...violence road."

Thought it was appropriate.

My mother's poodle once had a hunka, hunka burnin' love and she was alarmed & called my father. He told her...

Yet they are never made to pay for their bad choices. They are given a free pass for their choices, because despite their bad choice of friends, they have chosen the right enemy -- the Joooze. Yep, in the world of Jew hate and realpolitik it really doesn't matter that your friends are our enemies because if we do not help you, then that helps the Jews and we can't have that.

The Palestinian reward system is a little like losing a hand of blackjack in Vegas only to have the dealer say -- Do OVER, keep trying until you get it right so we can finally give you your winnings. Oh by the way here is $1 billion on the house. Why don't you gamble with it on behalf of your family and what you don't spend on them, just pocket or hire someone else to kill all of the casino owners and their friends.

14 Craig Abu al-BooBoo  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 3:01:17pm

Jihadis and Shahids,

Elvis has left the building.

15 Birdgunner  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 3:38:54pm

Okay, I count myself as a not too ignorant observer of the Middle Eastern political dynamic, but could someone please tell me what the F*** is behind this obsession with Elvis?

And a couple of weeks ago, what was with the woman with the picture of the dogs playing poker? I mean, all that's missing from my "1970's Uncle's Den Collection" is "Tahitian nude on black velvet".

If bad taste is what's keeping these people in the stone age, I'd gladly chip in for a Bateman print.

16 Joel  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 3:41:22pm

"'Cause I can't help splodeydoping over you."

17 Seahawk  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 3:57:28pm

I hate to inform them, but I vaguely think
I recall hearing that one of Elvis' ancestors
was Jewish. . .

18 Julia the Horrible  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 4:06:28pm

Its a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas for old Saddam...

*writhe, pout, hump the microphone*

19 Doug  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 4:22:43pm

OK, who's going to clue Birdgunner in? Anyone..., anyone..., Bueller?

The pictures are photoshopped to show Elvis or the dogs.

20 FreakyBoy  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 4:35:55pm

Birdgunner-

And to add to #19 Doug: a Velvis is never in bad taste.

21 Doug  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 4:41:18pm

#20 Freakyboy - too true; I thought that went without saying!

22 velvetelvis  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 4:46:31pm

Bad taste? Bad taste?

There is nothing that better displays a finely honed sense of taste then a velvet Elvis.

That, of course, is just my unbiased opinion.

;-)

23 J. Lichty  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 5:08:39pm

Birdgunner and Freaky:

The Elvis and the Dogs are a long time LGF gag for which you can blame me.

Inspired by that post, LGF reader Earnie G. created this picture, and the rest is history.

J. Lichty

We were commenting on post #15. As for me, I've seen Elvis on LGF in Gaza more than the Dunkin' Doughnut salesman does in Williston, North Dakota (where he currently lives), but thanks for providing the LGF originals. ;-)

25 Judith  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 5:40:55pm

This time you didn't fool me, Charles. Last time I spent forever looking at the picture of the Palestinain woman's relative and thinking WTF?!? This time I got it though. (Snicker)

26 Judith  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 5:45:04pm

You know, the Palestinians are probably the only people left in the whole world who still have intact pictures of this guy. I mean there likely isn't one anywhere in Iraq that some irate Iraqi (with a dead relative no doubt) hasn't shredded. After Saddam's executed they can sell them on e-bay to make up for all the money they no longer get from him for the families of suicide bombers!

27 zulubaby  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 6:04:14pm

I wonder what the Iraqis think of the Palestinians who are crying over Saddam's arrest.

28 Leah  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 6:37:44pm

Yep...Elvis had a Jewish..something or other..waay down the line. I forgot what now..a Great Grandmother or Great Grandfather??? ...or Great Great...

MY GRANDMA saw him that first time on the Ed Sullivan Show..and said.."Thats a Jewish Boy." and the rest of us...were LAUGHIN at her...and saying .."Oh--She likes him so much ...lets not tell her he ISNT Jewish"...Whose laughing now..Grandma...??? Go know that there was something there that she recognized...

29 Julia the Horrible  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 6:42:29pm

It is really sad when you think that Palis just dont think.

I mean, here you have an entire society of people who are totally worse than rednecks. You could put a Pali next to a Deliverance-type redneck and there wouldn't be much difference. Except one is pale and one is not.

Both into guns.
Both into giving little kids guns.
Both into subjugating women.
Both into not working and sitting around shooting guns.
Both into shooting their mouths off without thinking.
Both into crying and carrying on about stuff that is totally irrelevant.

Need I go on?

30 Julia the Horrible  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 6:46:03pm

ps, I do not mean to say that skin color makes a difference, it doesnt.

31 gymnast  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 9:16:37pm

#30, Julia you seem to have this fetish about guns and rednecks. This seems to be symptomatic of something deeper in your psyche. Have you ever considered confronting this head on by joining the NRA, buying a pickup truck, and driving down and visiting Graceland. At least take a ride around the block on a Harley, do you a world of good. At least you have the Palis mostly figured out. Maybe if they played golf the would realize the error of their ways.

32 HULUGU  Mon, Dec 15, 2003 9:27:53pm

don't be cruel--achmed--put on a freshly pressed bomb belt and go to the heartbreak hotel--its down at the end of lonely street in gaza--they are serving fresh hound dog for eid--afterwards there's a stoning at jailhouse rock--cover up or the blood will get stuck on you--oy yoi--rimshot

33 Diane L.  Tue, Dec 16, 2003 1:12:18am

Here's an article on Elvis' Jewish roots, including a photo of Elvis wearing a Chai necklace!

34 John Gibbon (rabid anti-Elvis Fan)  Tue, Dec 16, 2003 5:53:22am

...Does this mean that Elvis is really alive, living in a spider hole in Iraq?!?!?

35 Plato  Tue, Dec 16, 2003 7:16:46am

Many of us really like Elvis' music. That the Palestinians display his picture so often shows me that there is a part of their culture that is good. Maybe they're reaching out to us trying to establish a common ground. Maybe it's a sign of hope.

Nahhh. They would have killed him.

36 Julia the Horrible  Tue, Dec 16, 2003 7:45:29pm

Aw, Elvis and I share a birthday...

#31: I used to play at being a redneck for a while but I wasnt very good at it. I never shot a deer, only a couple of squirrels, and I rode a 1959 Matchless V-twin and not a Harley, so I was totally disqualified.

And I have all my teeth.

37 piglet  Tue, Dec 16, 2003 10:00:21pm

I was thinking. I bet at least one of Saddams doubles pretended to be Saddam and made a deal with say france or Saudi Arabia to hide him in luxuary. I image him sitting in a large room, surrounded by bad velvet art, drinking Crystal, watching a huge plasma tv, and seeing the real saddam being captured. "Oyi Veyi am I screwed!"

38 gymnast  Wed, Dec 17, 2003 5:59:46am

Ok Julia, whatever you say, but I'd bet the farm that you never rode on a motorcycle that never existed. Matchless Paralell twin maybe? Somewhere between gun nuts and anti gun nuts are people who see a gun for the tool that it is and have a great deal of respect for its use. (Same thing with motorcycles ) Oh, and by the way, I enjoy your postings as they tend to be quite informed and informative about the issues at hand. Really.

All your blue suede shoes are belong to us!

40 Leah  Wed, Dec 17, 2003 8:30:26pm

Diane: I knew I had seen that Star of David on the Gravesite..And when I first saw it..I said.."Whats THAT doing there?" I thought it was a Fundamentalist nod to the "Old Testament.."..I learned much later and was stunned that he had some connection to Judiasm.

Not only that...There was this interview with Elvis..and behind him in his library were all sorts of books on all SORTS of religions. I wonder if he was just interested in learning about many religions as he got older. Funny that I noticed it. I just did.

Nevertheless..whatever he was or believed...this boy sounded GREAT. Sometimes in the car a terrific song comes on with this great singer..and it turns out to be Elvis. All joking aside..loved that boy. He was good.

He did however, had taste ...that was from hunger...Baddd. Who WAS that Decorator?
