European Jihad Network Unplugged

Fri, Dec 19, 2003 at 10:01:22 pm PST

European authorities have shut down a network of Islamic radicals that recruited jihadis for holy war action in Iraq: European Militant Network Shut Down.

The volunteers were drawn from Muslim youths living on the fringes of society in Western Europe, with loose connections to Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaida and Ansar al-Islam, a militant group in northern Iraq.

One recruit from Italy may have been involved in a rocket attack on the Al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad in October, when the U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz was staying there, officials told AP.

There are also suspicions that some of the Muslim militants have been involved in suicide attacks in Iraq, although there was no hard evidence, one senior Italian official involved in the investigation told AP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Tip of the iceberg - Europe isn't going to go after these people until suicide bombers start going off in Paris, London and Rome.

Once Chirac goes on his war against religious garb, the Muslims will do the Paris what even the Germans would not in WWII. Count on it. The French have already lost and might as well submit to Shari a now to avoid the useless shedding of blood. Oh dear, so sad for the French.

Okay, Europe. You've got a pair. So what.

They come in as moderates, build mosques, multiply profusely, begin their "tabligues" (evangelization) multiply some more, begin hate propaganda against Jews, get into politics, multiply even more... and Viola we have an Islamic state, riddled with Islamic "Jihadis" hell-bent on promoting 7th century Islamic laws.

The French are ripened for a new revolution.

OT. Saddam caught? BFD...

Anyone else catch this from Frontpagemage.com:

Jacob Heilbrunn, editoral writer and staff member of the Los Angeles Times spewed:

"Saddam's capture is utterly insignificant and has been ballyhooed by the Bush White House simply to distract attention from the imbroglio in Iraq itself. A credulous press corps, coupled with an inattentive public, has permitted the administration to stage one publicity stunt after another rather than face the grim truth that creating a stable Iraq is a hopeless task."

This guy truly is a "staff" AND a "member."

LA Times..no suprise.

The "peaceful" Muslims will all remain silent until the dominant jihadis are no longer a threat. And that will take Western intervention.

Because they don't want to be apostates and be thrown in with the infidels. They are as afraid - no, even moreso - than the West is of the Islamicists. The Arab "shame" culture dictates all. And this collective Muslim idea of the Ummah.

Islam, by nature, is evil. What I've read of the Koran is complete nonsense, more fraught with questions than the Bible. Mohammed slept with a 9 year old, and yet, you go to a Muslim website and they only offer apologetics which strangely, sound like the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in the U.S.!

I have read of a number of large sweeps. I think there is a big difference between European Govts.' views, and the views of police, IMO. The police are on the frontlines and know what is going on.

#16 baldy: I think I'm with you. There's a prosecutor in Paris (whose name I can't recall, sorry) that has been all over this well before 9/11. I'm surprised jihadis haven't killed him yet. And I think the Germans also - their years of experience w/Baeder-Meinhof (sp?)with all its links to the Paleos give them a real advantage.

3 cheers for the Euros.

The Euros have to come to the realization that the jihad-crocodile needs to be opposed, and not ignored or fed with funds or people. Otherwise, when it turns on Europe, it may be too late for anybody to do anything to stop it.

I think we are all too hasty in thinking that the demise of France, is just around the corner. The general consensus in LGF seems to be that the French are cowards and will surrender as they 'usually' do. But it behoves us to note that the current pacifist attitude of France is quite out of character, when set in context of the extremely bloody nature of French history, both within and without.

This pacifism can be understood, when one realises that France had a succession of wars that virtually destroyed successive generations of young men. Starting from the French revolution, the Napoleonic wars, Franco-Prussian war, the First World War and WWII. In every one of these wars except WWII, the French distinguished themselves. In WWI, bravery was really required, as infantry charged the ranks of machine guns. Tens of thousands of soldiers died in just one day. It was the realisation that French generals threw away the lives of French soldiers in WWI that made French soldiers, not too keen in WWII. This is quite natural, when soldiers lose faith in their officers and political command.
A similar situation occurred with US in Vietnam, when the GI realised that a significant part of the US citizenry did not support the Vietnam War and had nothing but contempt for the GIs. We saw draft dodgers, fragging and desertions. Such was the trauma of Vietnam that US foreign policy was debilitated for nigh two decades, allowing the Soviets to expand. Another consequence was that many around the world, Saddam and Osama among them, came to regard the US as a paper tiger. Americans will cut and run the moment the going gets rough, was the common refrain. At the time, 15 years ago, I had to remind those who took that view, to remember that the US fought the most tenacious and ruthless Japanese foe, island to island, and beat them.

So it is with the French. There is no country in Europe that is as ruthless when it comes to dealing with a recalcitrant group within, as the French. The ruthless putting down of their kids, as in 1968, should serve as a reminder, what the French are capable of, when roused.

Now the issue of Muslim scarves for girls in schools is causing some concern in France. This is a fairly trivial issue and many have commented on this and wondered why the French are making a fuss about it. But I believe that the French are drawing a line, even on this minor issue. The message is, ‘Think before you go further’. If the Islamists do challenge the French government on this, they will find one of the most ruthless societies anywhere in the West. I believe that the French are right in drawing the line so early. We in the Anglo-Saxon countries may only draw the line after we had already compromised many of our principles. Canada's footsieng with sharia is an example.

France is an ancient land, with a long political and cultural history. Remembering what it has gone through in the last 300 years, it is trying the soft option for the moment, but the hard option is always present. The French once going, will ignore entreaties of the UN, EU or any international body. The French have always regarded rulings of such bodies for other nations to obey, not France.
