Britain Warns of Saudi Attacks

Sun, Dec 28, 2003 at 11:54:50 am PST

The British government is warning that terror attacks in Saudi Arabia could be in the final stages of preparation.

In advice about foreign travel published on its Web site, Britain’s Foreign Office has warned British nationals for several months against all but essential travel to the kingdom, especially after attacks in Riyadh in May and November.

It has repeatedly said it thought more attacks were planned in Saudi Arabia. However, on Sunday it added that “these could be in the final stages of preparation.” ...

The new guidance coincided with news that sky marshals will travel on some British passenger planes following warnings from the United States about a heightened terror threat.

It also followed a British newspaper report on Sunday which said Saudi security forces had seized light planes packed with explosives, foiling a plot to blow up a Western airliner.

4 Ed Moran:Abu Lesbian Seagulls  Sun, Dec 28, 2003 10:10:50am

I think I was discussing this with Gordon, of all people, whether al Q really is that stupid to crap on the regime that looked the other way at their organizing and fund raising. I have seen the theory advanced that perhaps al Q has to attack where it can.

Of course, repeated reports that top al Q people, right up to Osama bin Laden (who I'm not convinced is dead ( I'm not convinced he is alive either)) have been sighted in Iran, so perhaps the mutual hatred of the Great and Little Satan, the US and Israel, and shared dislike of the corrupt Saudi establishment, means they have put aside the theological disagreements over whether Ali is the rightful successor of the pedophile prophet.

I have read before the Iranians have always been rather clever about hiding their tracks in their support of terrorism. The whole Sunni-Shia issue gives Iran plausible deniability to any al Qaeda action.

Although some in Saudi Arabia no doubt realize that they have created a monster that threatens them, they haven' seemed to have cut back on promotion of the al Qaeda-Wahhabi theology, so I'd have a hard time agreeing with Gordon that the House of Saud are our new allies in the WoT.

I'll be damned if LGF's comments section didn't make for much more enjoyable reading before Dondi evariste discovered it, and began polluting it on a daily basis with his cloying, eager-beaver, 'See how much American culture I've assimilated!' posts. His witless bombast is as off-putting as any Gordonian troll's could ever hope to be. I'll ignore the cacaphony of posts in his defense that are sure to follow this one, and chalk them up to the usual circling of the wagons that occurs in here anytime an iconoclast speaks unpleasant truths. Nevertheless, I am sure I speak for many LGF perusers when I say that the Hashemite Howdy Doody could use a double dose of Ritalin with his morning Cocoa Pebbles. It would do us all a world of good.

Report: Al Qaeda Targeting Oceanliners

Al Qaeda (search) has turned its terror sights to the sea, targeting luxury cruise liners in a major expansion of its "jihad (search)" against Western interests.

And top of the terrornetwork's list of ocean-bound targets is the new $1.3 billion British ship Queen Mary 2 (search).

The threat to QM2 comes as a British MP revealed yesterday that two Islamic homicide pilots had been arrested in Saudi Arabia in the past two weeks. They allegedly were preparing to crash a pair of light aircraft into a packed British Airways passenger jet on takeoff.

QM2 owner Cunard confirmed it had received a terrorist threat against its maiden voyage in the new year. Concerns Al Qaeda had opened up a new front in its terror campaign emerged when a US spy plane discovered scores of acoustic sea mines had disappeared from a high-security naval base in North Korea.

I don't think that the Saudi family is united on the issues of Osama. Actually, I think that Osama is just aposter boy for some Saudi family faction, and some of those have their own secret services, AFAIK.

Of course, that whould not prevent Osama from taking on his benefactor/s, but I personaly doubt it. Also in police state like SaudiA it is always suspicious when the terrorists are arrested very soon after the bombing, but not before. Only recently there were reports of some preventive? arrests, but in the secrecy surrounding those, how much we actually know, or can be sure that there is no revolving door somewhere.

I believe the comic strip "Dondi" was an Italian war orphan brought back to the US after WWII.

Dondi still ran in the New York Daily News when I was a youngster. I don't know Italian, but based on some similarities to Spanish, Dondi could be equivalent to the Spanish Donde "where".

I guess we know the secret of Evariste. A Palestinian war orphan brought back to the Windy City by Norman and Hannah Finkelberg, and raised as a devout Hasidim. He then took his love of the Chicago Cubs, brautwurst with sauerkraut, the USA and Israel, and used his knowledge of the Arab culture to work as a Mossad agent, an unlikely member of the ZWC.

I don't see the AQ attacks in the Saudi Kingdom as biting the hand that feeds them. I'm sure the mosques that support the royals are in agreement with AQs actions. Most importantly it appears AQ is reduced to policing the home turf because their global reach has been seriously diminished since 911. All of the targets in Saudi have been foreign elements besmirching the Holy land. It's more akin to crack dealers trying to intimidate the new owners of their block who are wanting to develope it into a yuppie co-op. End result, the crack dealers eventually move over to the next available block. With AQ reduced to local thuggery it's only a matter of time until they are done.

#5 Voice of the Lurker- Unfortunately, you won't be damed for your OT rant, you are damned that it was a OT rant about OT rants, you convict yourself. Specifically, the pot calling kettle black. the usual circling of the wagons that occurs in here anytime an iconoclast speaks unpleasant truths.

I have noticed this tendency, whether it's "truths" that are the source of this is debatable. Usually it's unpleasant remarks about individuals (such as yours) that cause this phenomena, whether they're true or not. I've done my share of iconoclasm and have faced those consequences but I've always held my ground and have not been reduced to blaming those social forces outright. Give it a try sometime, it's quite liberating.

Ah! So.

101 evariste  Sun, Dec 28, 2003 1:57:36pm

Well, Baltimore has the Ravens now, you didn't think that a good trade?
Indianapolis is so fucking boring, give them a break! B'sides, it isn't like Peyton personally moved the team :-)
TBH, I don't even really root for teams so much as I do for individuals that I like. That's why I'm a huge TN fan (Fisher & McNair), Colts (Peyton & Dungy both), Jags (del Rio), ATL (Vick!).

102 evariste  Sun, Dec 28, 2003 1:58:11pm

Duh, and I also love Belichik.

4-2-MIN 2 (2:00) J.McCown pass to S.Bush for 2 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
TWO-POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPT. J.McCown pass to E.Smith is complete. ATTEMPT FAILS.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

O me of little faith.

#101 evariste

My son is a big Ravens fan - poor lad, he's too young to remember the nakba.

I'm not big on the Ravens because they're the Browns in disguise. But at least Cleveland got their team back - name, colors, and logo intact.

N.Rackers kicks onside 9 yards from ARZ 30 to ARZ 39. RECOVERED by ARZ-D.Anderson. (Ball touched by MIN Kleinsasser on ARZ 41.)
1-10-ARI 39 (1:54) (Shotgun) J.McCown pass incomplete to B.Johnson. PENALTY on MIN-D. Walker, Defensive Pass Interference, 30 yards, enforced at ARZ 39 - No Play.
1-10-MIN 31 (1:46) (Shotgun) J.McCown pass to E.Smith ran ob at MIN 26 for 5 yards.
2-5-MIN 26 (1:40) (Shotgun) J.McCown pass to N.Poole to MIN 13 for 13 yards (K. Irvin).
1-10-MIN 13 (1:05) (Shotgun) E.Smith up the middle to MIN 9 for 4 yards (L. Johnstone).

Arafat is furious with Brits for dearing to correct Palestinian lies concerning Christmas greeting from Blair.

It's such an classic example of the Paleos usual tactic - when caught lying whine and accuse the accuser of crimes against the poor dear Paleos. Heh ... but it was nice to know that Paleos think that it's actually the Brits that are responsible for "naqba" and not Israel as they like to claim:

Britain is first and foremost responsible for the nakba

I'll be damned if LGF's comments section didn't make for much more enjoyable reading before Dondi evariste Voice of the Lurker discovered it, and began polluting it on a daily basis with his cloying, eager-beaver, 'See how much American culture I've assimilated!' childish, pointless posts. Nevertheless, I am sure I speak for many LGF perusers when I say that the Hashemite Howdy Doody creep could use a double dose of Ritalin with his morning Cocoa Pebbles. Following is how it was explained to me when I was puzzling about the political short-sightedness of the Saud Princes still supporting terrorist-inducing Wahhabism:

Historically speaking, the sauds have no 'legitimacy' except through the wahabi fatwas supporting them. If they dump them, that is tantamount to saying we are not legit..if they keep them, Sammy baby [ed. Uncle Sam] is coming. Talk about a rock and a hard place. After two hundred years of implementing wahabi fatwas with sword and fire, the Sauds need a way out. That is hard to come by. The spell has turned on the witch sort of thing.

OT

One of Britain’s top bishops today warned the Israeli government that it was “asking for trouble” with its treatment of Palestinians.

The Bishop of Durham, the Right Rev Tom Wright, insisted in an interview for The Independent newspaper that he was not excusing the waves of Palestinian suicide bombers who have attacked Israel, but said: “If you squeeze people that tight sooner or later they’ll do drastic things.”

Dr Wright, the fourth most important bishop in the Church of England, said millions of Jews were similarly aggrieved by what some Jews in Israel led by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon were doing.

“I’m not anti-Israel but when I see what’s been done to the Palestinians over the past 50 years, I say, ‘Well I’m sorry, but if you put people behind barbed wire, keep them caged, take their land despite international resolutions, and bulldoze their homes, you are asking for trouble’,” he told the newspaper.

[Link: www.news.scotsman.com...]

What a wicked, wicked man. What a filthy, evil Church. 50 years behind barbed wire? Israel didn't control the West Bank or Gaza until 1967. In fact, Israel has been in existance for barely 50 years. But, that's the rub - the very fact that Israel exists means that the Jews are looking for trouble. The Bishop says that "Millions of Jews" oppose what Israel is doing? Perhaps thousands of terrified European intellectual Jews, for whom public support of Israel would be tantamount to professional suicide. The fact that the Jews won't roll over and die is causing such consternation among the enlightened classes of Europe - they can barely control their rage. No, we don't support the murder of Jewish children, but . . . well, you know.

I realize that residence in your particular state has injected you with such an overdose of LLL that risibly ludicrous statements such as

So who gives a rip if somebody is homo, hetero, bi or trisexual?

must flow forth from you and your ilk with thoughtless ease.

Nonetheless, if you walked in on, say, your son in flagrante delicto with a member of the opposite sex, you'd slam the door shut, flush with embarrassment maybe, but that would be that.

Now, if you walked into the same situation except that this time sonny boy was with a fellow male, are you going to tell me your reaction would be the same?

Back to British Airways and terrorism...

CBS radio news this morning says BA pilots union upset about sky-marshalls on flights, may refuse to fly.

Head of the union made the comment that it is better to keep terrorists off the plane than have armed sky-marshalls. Well, d'uh!

But it isn't really a binary thing, either terrorists on planes or no sky-marshalls.

The guy made a comment about pressurized cabins and firearms not mixing. No doubt true, although I suspect the sky-marshalls probably carry firearms with low energy deformable rounds.

Of course, Yasser Arafat is a hero to UK labor, apparently, for what that is worth.

Careful on your three hour drive today, Eddie.

Glaser safetyshot ammo is especially developed for use in these type of enviroments

"Glaser "safety slugs" are similar to frangible ammo in that, upon impact, they break open and scatter pellets into the wound channel, making a wider wound channel, while at the same time reducing the likelihood that missed rounds can penetrate walls & injure occupants & unintended targets. They are one of the major candidates for carry by airline pilots in wake of the 9/11 tragedy, since they are unlikely to cause damage to aircraft hulls due to penetration. +P ammo is that which is loaded to higher velocities than standard pressure ammo of a given caliber & loading; +P = "high pressure" as compared to standard. This ammo should not be used in any arm not rated for it."

Hmmm, that sounds like a threat to me.

Judging from the Lurker's last and first posts of the day, he isn't in my time zone.

I guess the "Living with Mommy" hit a little too close to home.

I don't see why someone would attack evariste. I fully support evariste.
