I'd like to second the motion for a quarterly or even monthly "winner". Then the four (or 12) of them face off in the finals for the annual award.

On behalf of the members of the Academy, I would like to accept this prize on behalf of buldozer sitters and protestors of all things good and decent in the world.

Israel is the only good and decent thing in the Middle East (at least before the US's imperialistic blood for oil enterprise in Iraq) and it must be destroyed. At a minimum it must be shamed and debased at every opportunity.

I am therefore glad that I had the opportunity to shame Israel for its actions. I consider it a badge of honor to be associated with baby killers, bloodthirsty hoodlums, smugglers, and militants with whom I share a kinship.

It was heartwarming to see my parents meet with Chairman Arafat, with whom I feel a connection as well. His despondent condition is the fault of no one except the Zionists.

Too much of what passes for "reasonable" political discussion these days amounts to nothing other than compromise. But some things in life are not about "mere" matters of economic policy--some are matters of right and wrong, of life and death. There is no logical ground for "compromise" on such matters. St. Pancake despised her country, despised Israel, and was complicit in the smuggling of weapons designed for one thing only--to kill Jews. Thus, there is no room for "compromise"--she aided and abetted evil. She is villified here because of her own despicable actions--we are allowed to call evil "evil", without any of the politically correct crap about how "sincere" she may have been. To paint the story any other way implies that one may commit horrible attrocities with impunity so long as their intent is "sincere".

If new visitors to this site are "shocked", it is only because they have been fed lies of commission and omission for the previous years they have inhabited the planet. I know there are so many worthy candidates for the FIskie every year, but I disagree that the solution is a monthly or quarterly award. I think the solution is catagories. Divide them by age or occupation: youngsters/students, journalists, politicians, movie/rock stars, etc.
Or divide them by action: most idiotarian move that put the idiotarian in harm's way, worst anti-West/Capitalism/USA/Israel statement, most outlandish moral equivalency/apologetic rational to explain away an evil by terrorism, worst case of ironic idiocy or double standard (like using a free speech platform to complain there is no free speech or saying in one breath that the other side is censoring you and you don't think they ought to be allowed to do that), etc.

Dean, Sharpton, Moseley-Braun and Kucinich are the only "major" candidates on the ballot. The rest are fring-y no names, except for one, who's just fring-y: Lyndon LaRouche.

And his campaign truck, a flat bed 10-wheeler, filled with little, nazi, community college students, just drove down K Street outside my office. I agree. I struggled with whether to vote for Corrie (my first choice was Yossi Beilin). My main concern was that we were giving unnecessary fodder to LGF-haters that could be used to convince others that LGF was a hate site (It's not!).

But I think the true intent behind the award is not shadenfreude but what "observer" described so aptly:

The derision here was not for the loss of life, but to deflate the base, false, and vicious "cause" for which she sacrificed it. That kind of "cause" needs to be deflated by laughter and scorn, then perhaps others will not take it seriously and suffer her fate.

I wager that if idiotarians like Corrie weren't lauded as "peace activists" and used as marketing tools by terrorists and their supporters, then her death would have been treated more respectfully here at LGF. But given the cult of martyrdom that surround her and her ilk, we have no choice but to pull her off her pedestal. And if that means we sometimes look like assholes, so be it.

I only draw the line at including her parents (#29, 31, 62). I don't doubt that they "played a major role in teaching her all about moral equivalence, etc." but I still think it's cruel and unnecessary. Really? I disagree. I think I have found it. I educated my children about moral right and wrong. I taught them murder is wrong and terrorism is wrong and blowing up little children in a pizza parlor makes you a murderer not a martyr and nothing is ever resolved by violence, but you have to be able defend yourself against those who would murder you and you have the right to do so.

Rachel Corrie's parents didn't teach their daughter that part of reality. 5. We call on our people everywhere to hold all organizations accountable to the positions they take, especially those that depict racist attitudes towards us, implicitly or otherwise, particularly those that tokenize and objectify our struggle. Any organization or movement that finds it acceptable to minimize or disregard for political expediency the struggle of any people should not be allowed to function within the global justice movement. Justice is neither selective, nor partial or conditional.

You obviously missed the threads responses to #56 Flanstein and #158 Caribou. Fact is, Rachel Corrie, like the other misguided children that are cynically lured to ISM get so caught up in Palestinian propaganda that they lose all moral bearings. To wit, as has been stated on this forum too many times, Rachel Corrie (1) incited hatred toward America, toward Israel and Jews, (2) aided and abetted homicide bombers who think nothing of entering a bus and murdering innocent civilians, and (3) used horrible personal judgment in her views on the Middle East that led her to act at great personal peril in March 2003.

Oh, there is so much more that can be said, but Rachel Corrie is hardly the model of conviction that should be admired, she was at a minimum a misguided child and at worst a hypocrit who couched her hypocrisy in the pathology of Palestinian victimhood perpetrated by the likes of ISM and other organizations of their ilk.

What is most galling, is that while ISM champions the depravity of the Palestinians, it thinks nothing of the plight of truly innocent Israelis who must take faith that they will literally get to their destination on a Egged bus, or leave a cafe, in one piece.

The Palestinians have no one to blame but themselves for their situation, and groups like ISM do nothing to help the Palestinians better their position, and instead support the myth of victimization that allows the Palestinians to rationalize homicide bombings and other terrorist operations within Israel, Gaza and the West Bank as legitimate compnents of national self determination.

First of all let me thank any and all, who do reply and assist me on this matter, your help is greatly appreciated.

For several years I have been considering taking the Foreign Service exam. I share the same view of the State Department as many of you here and have spent many arguments railing against their policies and practice’s. That being said, I cant stand a hypocrite and I would be hypocritical to not at the very least explore making a difference from the inside. I do greatly understand the challenge of not only enacting the change of a mindset and the inertia of a bureaucracy.

I do want to, as contrite as it may sound, serve my country, perform a role not measured in dollar figures and work for something bigger than myself. After several attempts I have come to the conclusion that I will be unable to obtain medical waivers to serve in either the military forces and or a federal enforcement agency of my choosing. ( Metal rod in right knee, 3 times hyperextension)

Without being a windbag I am trying to get feedback on the Foreign Service exam, what it entails, anyone’s opinions on it and suggestions for test prep. This is somewhat last minute with the exam April 24th, but I feel with my background and a good deal of free time, I will have sufficient time to study.

To save some time ….30 yr. old BA, Economics and Political Science 5 years experience in mutual fund industry and finance.

I'm glad I voted for her, though. This war is all about people who support civilization versus people who support terrorism. To paraphrase the Knight from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" (!): "She has chosen...poorly."
