Hizb'Allah Via Mexico

Thu, Jan 29, 2004 at 9:38:50 pm PST

At least one alleged Hizb’Allah terrorzoid has already used our sieve-like border with Mexico to sneak into the US: A question about Hizballah and Mexico.

Now, turn to May 3, 2003. That’s when FBI agents searched the Dearborn, Mich., residence of Mahmoud Kourani, a 32-year-old illegal alien from Lebanon.

In a statement submitted last week in federal court, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth Chadwell revealed words the FBI found on audiotapes there: “You alone are the sun of my lands, Nasrallah! Nasrallah!/. . . your voice is nothing less than my jihad.”

“We offer to you Hizballah, a pledge of loyalty,” said a tape. “. . . Rise for Jihad! . . . I offer you, Hizballah, my blood in my hand.”

Kourani pleaded guilty to harboring an illegal alien. A judge sentenced him to six months. On Jan. 15, a second indictment was unsealed, charging Kourani with conspiracy to provide material support to Hizballah.

“Kourani was a member, fighter, recruiter and fundraiser for Hizballah,” said the indictment. “Operating at first from Lebanon and later in the United States, Kourani was a dedicated member of Hizballah who received specialized training in radical Shiite fundamentalism, weaponry, spy craft, and counterintelligence in Lebanon and Iran.”

“Kourani,” Chadwell added in his statement, “is charged with conspiring with individuals at the highest levels of the terrorist organization, including one of his brothers who is the Hizballah chief of military security for southern Lebanon.”

Kourani got to America, the prosecutors allege, with the help of a Mexican official.

“On approximately Feb. 4, 2001, Kourani surreptitiously entered the United States by sneaking across the U.S./Mexico border in the trunk of a car,” wrote Chadwell. “He reached Mexico by paying $3,000 used to bribe an official in the Mexican Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon, to give him a Mexican visa.”

We apparently can't trust Mexico to prosecute the war on terror in good faith; corruption is too entrenched there.
There need to be serious enough consequences for border country assisted infiltration to deter it; I haven't thought seriously about what that would entail but we have a lot of tools to bring pressure to bear and we aren't visibly doing so as far as I can tell.

I know some of you in the US have worried about terrorists or jihadis coming across from Canada but it's not Canada you need to worry about. For one thing, the fact that this guy got himself fixed up in Lebanon before ever coming to this hemisphere tells me that they know they can't get in through Canada anymore and they CAN get in through Mexico because of a corrupt official.

Also, the thouands of illegal crossing the southern border never happens on your northern border because we have a decent economy and good education and jobs here so we aren't driven to cross illegally the same way.

But it's really worrisome if a jihadi in Lebanon can get papers before he ever leaves Lebanon. THAT really IS worrying. You have to wonder how many others are getting in that way.

Speaking of Hizb'Allah...

Did anyone else notice the report on the prisoner swap this afternoon on "All Things Considered" (National Palestinian Radio)? They used audio from an interview with that Israeli hostage who was just released talking about how he wasn't mistreated, etc. and they said the interview was broadcast on Hizb'Allah's affiliated television channel!

Now that's fair and balanced, using tape from a (literal) terrorist network in your reporting!

From a muslim news link source: Apparently, in Canada, muslim parents defended murder of their 5 year old daughter, by claiming that the girl committed suicide by "slitting her own throat." They thought that nobody would believe them, so they cut the girl up into 8 pieces, and deposited them at separate places in a public park:

Muslipigs really think a lot of their female children. According to the unholy muslim hadith, the phony "prophet" married a girl at the age of 6, and consummated same when she was 9. The Palestinian militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack on Friday.

The Islamic faction made the claim in a statement faxed to Reuters’ Gaza office a day after al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an offshoot of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat’s Fatah movement, said it was behind the bus bombing.

Adding to the confusion, al Aqsa -- a highly fictionalized organization -- issued a statement in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Friday denying its earlier written claims that it was behind the bombing. The bomber himself, 24-year-old Ali Jaara, left behind separate letters in which he said in one that he had acted on behalf of al Aqsa and in the other that he acted for Hamas.

Kourani got to America, the prosecutors allege, with the help of a Mexican official.

So, given this egregious act of war (enabling and abetting our enemy's entry into the US), when will we declare war on Mexico? It's time for us to use a serious clue by four to the Mexican government, and those citizens of that country who constantly violate our laws, the immigration ones being only the first layer. And, BTW Mexico, sorry you don't like the DP, and want all your citizens who commit murder here in the US saved from that well-earned fate. But, hey, we do have a nice cage in Gitmo reserved for the asshat Mexican official that was in Beirut.

This war is going to get increasingly messy before there's any light at the end of the tunnel or hope for reasoned humanity to prevail.

Fictionalized could be right. Although Arafat may not have complete control over Hizballah and Islamic Jihad and Hamas, they obviously have his approval to operate.

Just arresting a few people and blowing up this scum's house isn't enough.

OT, but my disappointment grows with GWB, who spends money like a dhimmicrap (National Endowment for the Arts getting a raise!), and he needs to take the restraints off Israel. Against anyone but maybe Lieberman (who has a snowball's chance) Bush will be the lesser of two evils, so I'm sure I'm voting for him, but he almost seems to be trying to lose his base. Middle of the road voters won't be impressed by ballooning deficits, and no matter how much tax money he gives for the next artist to dunk crucifixes in urine (maybe make a sculpture of the Star of David out of feces or something to protest the "Occupation") the DU types that hate him will still hate him.

Moroccan Got 9/11 Code Training in Iran - Defector

By Philip Blenkinsop

HAMBURG, Germany (Reuters) - A Moroccan accused of helping the September 11 suicide hijackers received training in encryption techniques at an al Qaeda camp in Iran in 1997, an Iranian defector said on Friday.

Hamid Reza Zakeri, the cover name of a man who says he worked in Iranian intelligence and defected in 2001, was testifying at Germany's second major trial of suspected members of al Qaeda's Hamburg cell.

He told the court that the defendant, Abdelghani Mzoudi -- suspected of handling money for the September 11 plotters and covering up for them -- had spent three months in Iran learning to master codes and was an integral part of the conspiracy.

It was not immediately clear how the alleged training was linked to the plot.

Mzoudi, 31, had been expected to be cleared of aiding and abetting the murder of several thousand people and being a member of a terrorist organization until the testimony from Zakeri suddenly surfaced last week.

In evidence heard last week from police interviews, Zakeri had said Iran's secret service had contact with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network ahead of the September 11 attacks.

He also told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday that bin Laden's son had personally forewarned Iranian leaders of the planned attacks on U.S. cities, because al Qaeda wanted Tehran's help in sheltering its members afterwards.

Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said earlier this week that the defector was not credible and had invented his story.

'CIA PLOY'

Zakeri, a tall, bearded man with thick hair and glasses, told the court on Friday much of his information came from a high-ranking source in Iran with whom he remained in contact. He acknowledged he had neither met nor seen Mzoudi personally.

As recently as December, he said, al Qaeda military chief Saif al-Adel and Iranian officials met, concerned about Mzoudi's release from custody last month. They believed it was part of a CIA ploy to lead the U.S. agency to al Qaeda figures.

"They came to the conclusion that Mzoudi would have to be killed by a letter bomb sent from Duesseldorf or Vienna, or if he was deported, that he could then be seized," Zakeri said.

His appearance may threaten Mzoudi's chances of acquittal, although Western intelligence sources have questioned his credibility, and his sometimes rambling testimony on Friday may not have helped prosecutors.

"It's difficult to follow you, Mr Zakeri," judge Klaus Ruehle said at one point during more than three hours of questioning.

Mzoudi's trial took a dramatic twist in December when new evidence from a secret source -- presumed to be captured al Qaeda leader Ramzi bin al-Shaibah -- said he was not part of the core Hamburg cell with prior knowledge of September 11.

The court declared Mzoudi was no longer "urgently suspected" and freed him from custody, although the trial continues.

Prosecutors say Mzoudi handled money for fellow plotters and covered up for them and that he also trained at an al Qaeda camp in Afghanistan, although they have not mentioned Iran.

Defense lawyers argue Mzoudi did no more than help fellow Muslims living abroad, and say his paying of student fees and other bills was in no way central to the September 11 plot.

His trial is only the second anywhere of a September 11 suspect. His friend and fellow-Moroccan Mounir El Motassadeq was sentenced to 15 years in jail by the same Hamburg court last February, but is awaiting a ruling on an appeal.

52 SoCalJustice  Fri, Jan 30, 2004 5:57:54am

OT

Potential Flying Pig moment:

The British government lodged an official objection to the scheduled hearing of the ICJ on the Security Barrier, which is set to convene on February 23 to discuss the legality of the fence.

An official at the British Foreign Office told Haaretz that Foreign Office minister Lady Symons believed that the hearing would "serve to politicize the court in a way for which it was not designed."

Alright, alright, before anyone gets too excited:

The British government has always expressed its disapproval of the fence, which it claims encroaches onto Palestinian land, and the Foreign Office said Thursday: "Our concerns relate to the role of the court, not the legality of the route of the fence. It remains our view that the building of the fence on Palestinian land is unlawful."

But still, the U.K. could have just remained on the sidelines. It's at least nice that they're formally moving for the non-jurisdiction argument.

Separated from all possessions -- including cash, bank accounts, homes -- anything they have either brought with them or managed to acquire here. This would be a major incentive for those currently here to beg for amnesty, which we could grant, for a price.

Some of us here on LGF take the Israelis to task for that prisoner trade, but look at our resopnse to terrorism. Nothing.

We should raise the stakes worldwide and hunt down and execute everyone involved. Some, not all but some, might decide to withdraw from support and the ones we kill...well, that's just a great bene.
