U of Idaho Student Charged with Helping Hamas

BOISE, Idaho - A graduate student from Saudi Arabia — already jailed on immigration charges — has been accused of helping to raise funds for a militant Palestinian organization.
Sami Omar Al-Hussayen was charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism after federal prosecutors said he helped run Web sites that urge people to contribute money to Hamas.
But an attorney for Al-Hussayen, a computer science student at the University of Idaho, said his client is innocent.
What this story doesn’t tell you: Al-Hussayen was studying for a PhD in computer security.
