Cycle of Violence: Hill Work
Today’s ride: 46 miles, with a foggy start that turned quite warm by noon. Ever notice how easy it is to get out of the habit of doing things that cause physical pain? That’s how it’s been with me and hill climbing lately, so I deliberately went up a couple of the more difficult climbs around Palos Verdes, ending up close to the summit. On the way down, using a secret undisclosed major road (one of many) I hit 46 mph (yes, 46 miles with a top speed of 46 mph) at one point where the hill pitches downward like a roller coaster; could have gone even faster but I was sharing the road with cars, so I had to play it a little safe. The wind was a constant, not-too-fascist crosswind, annoying but not totalitarian. Got a serious workout and shed a lot of calories, which I will now do my best to replace.
