Palestinian Cease Fire Watch
The mainstream wire services continue relentlessly promoting a “truce” between Hamas and Fatah that simply does not exist: Fatah gunmen abduct Hamas official in Ramallah. (Hat tip: Ethel.)
RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Fatah gunmen abducted a Hamas official as he left his office in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday, saying they would exchange him for the kidnapped nephew of a Fatah strongman, Palestinian police said.
The new kidnapping came as days of factional fighting between Hamas and Fatah that paralyzed the Gaza Strip eased under a new truce.
Palestinian Authority spokespeople have been whining that the civil war raging in the territories may “damage their image.” That probably explains why the wire services have been perpetrating this “ceasefire” fraud: the Palestinian editors and stringers writing most of this stuff are doing what they can to whitewash the truth, leading to the kind of ludicrous doublespeak we see above.
