thanks for the credit, but…
It has come to my attention that I’m being credited with “leading the charge” to have Ted Rall’s “Terror Widows” pulled from the NY Times.
While I wasn’t unhappy to see it removed, I just want to set the record straight, because I never, no how, no way, called for the cartoon to be pulled. Here is what I wrote:
I urge all of our readers to write to the NY Times and tell them what you think about this “cartoon.” Here is their Contact page. I wrote to the publisher this morning.
Notice: “tell them what you think.” Not “tell them to remove this cartoon.”
Now, if what people thought was that the cartoon should be removed, and if they expressed that thought to the Times, that’s fine with me. But that’s not what I said, and not what I called for.
In any case, I sincerely doubt that it was bloggers who caused the removal of that loathsome cartoon. The NY Times received many complaints from the actual widows who Rall savaged, and I’m sure that was a much more important factor in their decision.
