Flying Imams Update
Crossword Bebop is keeping an eye on the documents filed in the Flying Imams lawsuit, and there’s some interesting news today: Flying Imams, US Airways Agree On Lawsuit Targets, Liability.
There was a new document in the Flying Imams lawsuit, called a “Stipulation.” There were six items of the stipulation, agreements between all the parties involved.
The first item said that the imams would drop the prerogative of amending their complaint to include other individual employees of US Airways, which is a good thing in my mind.
The second item said that US Airways would assume vicarious liability if it turns out that the imams prove that the US Airways employees did anything wrong when they had the imams removed from the plane in November 2006. This may seem like a bad thing, but I think it’s a good thing, because it shows that US Airways believes its employees did the right thing, which is exactly what Andrea Rader of US Airways said to Channel 5 back in August. There was a reference to a case about vicarious liability, but US Airways was saying that would accept vicarious liability no matter what.
