In response to criticism over his choice of Spence Abraham, the Fred Thompson campaign announced that he had hired a new campaign manager. But it looks like the former lobbyist who worked closely with Islamist front groups is still there:

DEARBORN — Few fumbles, few stumbles. He even knew the name of the Canadian prime minister. Fred Thompson’s first step into the presidential campaign spotlight got cautious praise from analysts and even his opponents.

“His answers showed tonight he’s more than ready to run this country,” said former Michigan Sen. Spence Abraham, a top official in Thompson’s campaign. Far from the bumbling, lethargic candidate that national political analysts have portrayed, Abraham said, the former Tennessee senator and television star “was forceful, he was energetic and I think he was presidential.”

Here’s some background info on Abraham.
