Arab League chief Amr Moussa now feels “humiliated and depressed” enough to threaten the United States.
DUBAI, April 27 (Reuters) - Arab League chief Amr Moussa warned the United States on Saturday Arab nations could take punitive steps, and perhaps even cut crude oil supplies, if it remained “blatantly biased” towards Israel.
Speaking to reporters in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, Moussa said Arabs were feeling “humiliated, depressed and helpless” by the United States’ policy in the Middle East but would not stand by and watch Washington let Israel stay “above international law”.
“No unanimous decision has been taken about using oil supplies (to pressure the United States) in the Middle East conflict,” Moussa said.
“But if the humiliation and pressure continue, and the United States insists on being blatantly biased and ignoring the rights of the Palestinians, who knows, things might develop. The doors are open to all sorts of resistance. Whether this includes oil or not, I can’t say now but the options are there.” …
The often outspoken Moussa said but for the United States’ unstinting support, Israel would have been an “insignificant nation that has little sway on politics in the Middle East”.
“…and we would have wiped it off the face of the earth long ago,” he didn’t continue.
