CNN President Tries to Stop the Birther Craziness on His Network
Lou Dobbs is the latest so-called “conservative” to keep promoting the Nirther insanity long after its sell-by date, and yesterday the president of CNN told him to knock it off (not in so many words): Jon Klein on Birthers: ‘It Seems This Story is Dead’.
TVNewser has learned CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein sent an email to a handful of “Lou Dobbs Tonight” staffers last night regarding the coverage of the so-called birthers and the validity of Pres. Obama’s birth in the U.S.
In part, Klein writes, “It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef.” Klein asked CNN researchers to dig into the question of why Obama couldn’t produce the original birth certificate. The researchers contacted the Hawaii Health Dept. and confirmed that paper documents were discarded in 2001 when the department went paperless. That reportedly includes Pres. Obama’s original birth certificate.
Klein is wrong, though. The story is not dead, because people who are infected with this brain virus are completely beyond reason. If Barack Obama came out and showed pictures of him emerging from the womb, with a doctor standing nearby holding a 1961 Honolulu Advertiser newspaper and wearing an orchid lei, they’d still find a way to deny it. As with any conspiracy theory, people who believe it don’t let facts or logic get in the way.
