Video: Sherrod Considers Legal Action Against Breitbart

US News • Views: 2,264

On CBS’s Early Show, Shirley Sherrod says she’s considering legal action against hateblogger Andrew Breitbart.

Speaking on CBS’ Early Show, Sherrod said that while she hasn’t actively talked about suing Andrew Breitbart, she “would definitely consider it.”

Sherrod said that Breitbart’s intentions were obvious - but misguided.

“As much as he’s saying it was about the NAACP, he had to know that it was about me,” Sherrod said. “He was willing to destroy me to get to what he thought — to try to destroy the NAACP.”

“He had to know what he was doing,” she added. “I’m certain he didn’t think the other side of the story would come out, but he knew he was misrepresenting the facts.”

Sherrod also said that Breitbart had not apologized to her. “I don’t think I would ever receive an apology,” she said.

***Hopes she wins***

I hope the settlement they finally agree on is Sherrod gets to have some body builders hold Breitbart upside down, shake him, and keep whatever falls out....

Take him for everything you can get.

Follow the money. Let's see who pays for Breitbart's attorney, or if he gets an attorney to defend him pro bono. The guy isn't exactly rich, despite his continued offers of $100,000 to anyone who can disprove him with evidence that he'll accept.

Of course, knowing Breitbart, he'll go to the ACLU for protection.

CNN- Sherrod was pleased with the conversation.

$20 says the Right will set up a "defense fund" and take up a collection to bail Breitbart's sorry ass out of this one.

CNN reports the Obama spoke with Sherrod.

She said she wasn't looking for an apology from the President, but wanted to talk to him about rural life for people such as herself. Of course, he will have apologized on behalf of everyone outraged by this incident, because he's a class act. So Fox can report "President Obama apologizes for overreacting" and wash their hands of any responsibility.

I would imagine that the Sherrod family has been forced to install a separate telephone line to deal with the plaintiffs' attorneys who are hounding her night and day.
She should be able to negotiate their percentage down considerably from the standard third.

. In lieu of an apology, a large sum of money may have to suffice.

Not disputing your claim, just wondering how you would know.

The discovery phase of the case would be interesting. He would have to answer questions on the record under oath.

That would be fun.

I just had to go take a leak. It came out as regular piss, not wine.

So, no apology from Breitbart today.

It's time for the White House to revoke Fox News' press pass to the White House briefing room. They aren't a news organization.

The charade has gone on long enough.

I don't...he could have money coming out his ass and just dresses like a slob because he likes it.

I checked his wiki page...he's done a lot of jobs before starting his web-sites. As far as I know, most bloggers aren't pulling in the high six figures...but maybe he's got a sugar-daddy somewhere.

IF they did that, it would be a rallying cry for FN. What they need to do is publicly reprimand and REMIND the press their duty is investigate and inform. Not just take BS from AB and pass it off as news.

President Obama could come out really strong against bs like this. He has an opportunity to do some damage to cretins that do this.

They've already tangled with Fox, quite publicly. I don't think they're up for it again. As a matter of fact, if they hadn't been so freaked re Fox, they( Dept' of Agriculture) might have waited for the facts before firing her.

re: #2 jamesfirecat
I'm sure Breitbart will be sued, but the deep pockets belong to the DOA that actually fired her.

Let them rally. Let them crow. Let them cry "censorship". None of that changes the fact that they are in the business of misinforming, not informing.

As she comes off more and more as a nice lady with no ill-will towards anyone, people will get even more pissed at Breitbart. Still hoping she sues...

Clever political move by Obama - and classy, too.
Let's give him some credit where credit's due

Doing the right thing is always a "clever political move." She said she wanted to talk to the president, but that she didn't want him to apologize...he probably did anyway, for the suffering she's had to endure the last few days (that's where he shows how classy he is...not with the call itself).

Updinged for fairness, all the same.

I think it would be nice if the "yet to be named" position in the USDA they want to offer Shirley would be one involving the payments to back farmers who won that lawsuit and who are still waiting for their payments.

That would be an amazing way to provide her some much-deserved catharsis. She needs and deserves to see the good guys win, and to be part of the victory.

None of which would have happened if Breitbart hadn't decided to smear her in the first place. The blame for all of this lies squarely upon him.
