A Plea for Non-Violence

Palestinian Interior Minister Abdel Razzak al-Yahya continues to call for an end to terrorist violence:
“All forms of Palestinian violence have to stop,” said Yahya, who is overseeing security reform which the United States has demanded in Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Authority.
“All resistance acts that are characterised by violence, such as using arms or even stones…are harmful. I call for civil resistance within the framework of the political struggle.”
It was the most far-reaching plea for non-violence made by a member of the Palestinian leadership since the uprising began in September 2000, and went beyond Yahya’s call in an Israeli newspaper interview last week for an end to suicide attacks.
That’s nice. But words are awfully cheap in the Palestinian Authority, and the death cult gangs don’t want to play.
…the militant Islamic group Hamas, which has killed dozens of Israelis in suicide bombings, rejected Yahya’s appeal.
