Rafael Cruz, father of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), told a tea party group in 2012 he thinks President Barack Obama should go “back to Kenya.”

Cruz can be seen making the comments in a video posted by YouTube user Michael Openshaw in Sept. 2012 and reported by Mother Jones Thursday. In the clip, Cruz calls America a “Christian Nation” and urges the tea party group to vote only for Republicans in the upcoming 2012 election.

Cruz has gotten more involved with conservative politics since his son was elected to the U.S. Senate. In April 2013, Cruz sat down with the Heritage Foundation to discuss Republican’s Latino outreach.

Cruz has also become more public about his thoughts on Obama. In a YouTube video posted in July 2013, Cruz can be seen repeatedly comparing Obama to Fidel Castro.

Another example of the GOP’s longing to re-institute slavery.

Yes, Republicans please use Rafael Cruz for Latino outreach and you’ll probably alienate even more people then can dream to.

I’m sure the Pinochet, Stroessner, Peron, and Somoza families are on board with him.

Do they think this kind of shit endears them to people? And I mean people outside their base who just cheer for more obstructionism.

WTFITS:

Some people get pretty worked up about Obamacare. Here, for instance, is Jeff Goldstein, the proud proprietor of ProteinWisdom.com, explaining to civil rights legend John Lewis that YUH HUH Obamacare IS TOO SLAVERY, and also that John Lewis is a “parasite” — you know who else called people “parasites”? — and a disgrace to the civil rights movement, and that he should go fuck himself. (We are going to skip past his assertion that the Tea Party fights for “the epistemology of the Enlightenment,” because it made our brain kill itself.) Here, look for yourself!

You sir, are a disgrace to the civil rights movement, a disgrace to the seriousness of the historic fight for equal rights for blacks (led by Republicans), a disgrace to those you purport to represent, yet upon whose ignorance and perpetually stoked victimization you continue to prey. I despise people like you.

You’ve turned a past injustice into a cottage race industry upon which you live like a parasite. And your attempts to tether that past injustice to those of us who today fight for the freedom and autonomy of the individual to resist the oppression of the state suggests that it is you, sir, who today carries the fire hoses and have shown yourself willing, time and again, to release the dogs against those who oppose your designs on their liberty. In short, you are an opportunistic relic who, your protestations to the contrary, has become a bane to the very progress of the people your purport to speak for. So go fuck yourself.

John Lewis actually participated in that Civil Rights movement. It was not led by Republicans or Democrats. It was a liberal movement. Whether Republicans/conservatives want to admit that or not, that is what Civil Rights was all about. And I applaud the Republicans who supported it and I disdain the Democrats who did not but let’s call it what it was, a liberal movement that challenged the status quo (read conservativismof the South and other areas. And calling people parasites, how absolutely Nazisque.

This is the same paper who wrote back after they were shouted at for taking back their endorsement of Cruz and their response was to say “We never would have endorsed him.” Anyhow, score another one for Austin. If I ever got to Texas, it’s on my list of places to visit and not just because it’s politically sane. Great music scene I understand.

Yeah Obama has almost no followers any more. That is why Mitt Romney won in a landslide.

I’d say that if Obama has to go back to Kenya then both Cruz’s should go back to Canada.

Except that we don’t want them.

That’s still more support than the Congressional GOP has. I think they support themselves and I think their Mom said “Keep on trying honey, even if you are a right wing douche, you’re still my son.”

I’ve been working on new lyrics to this Jonathan Coulton song… still needs a bit of work, I think, but it’s almost there:

Ted Cruz Crazy

Ted Cruz is gonna save the country
At least all his people tell him so
And while he thinks that he’s a very special person
He’d rather be on a beach in Mexico
But a lifetime of indolence isn’t the John Galt way
So he’ll kill time in Congress instead

Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz crazy
Just be glad it’s him not you
If you had Ted Cruz’s money
You might be Ted Cruz crazy too
You’d flash your condescending smarmy smile
You’d buy expensive shoes
But you’d be the only man on Earth
Who truly enjoyed Ted Cruz
Oh yeah, you’d really be into Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz attended Hahhhhhvard
He knows you went to a lesser school
And when Ted Cruz looks down his nose at you
He sees a thousand gullible fools
He knows someday he’ll be annointed
The way his pappy said
But why does he have to wait so long?

Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz crazy
Just be glad it’s him not you
If you had Ted Cruz’s daddy
You might be Ted Cruz crazy too
You’d flash your condescending smarmy smile
You’d buy expensive shoes
But you’d be the only man on Earth
Who truly enjoyed Ted Cruz
Oh yeah, you’d really be into Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz hopes someday he’ll be relieved
Of this heavy burden of awesomeness…

Somewhere in some bulletproof limo
Poor Ted Cruz sits staring out the glass
And the outside world is always such a hassle
The plebes are such a pain in the ass
There are millions who know his name
But only morans love him
Good thing he’s got himself for company

Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz crazy
Just be glad it’s him not you
If you had Ted Cruz’s ego
You might be Ted Cruz crazy too
You’d flash your condescending smarmy smile
You’d buy expensive shoes
But you’d be the only man on Earth
Who truly enjoyed Ted Cruz
Oh yeah, you’d really be into Ted Cruz

Cruz calls America a “Christian Nation”

When Congress is literally taking food out of the mouths of poor people this week and your party supports taking more from them while protecting the interests of the rich, I think Jesus would beg to differ.

Use of Cuban-Americans like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz , and other ex-pat Cubans like Rafael Cruz to reach out to Hispanics of other origin, is another example of Republican party tone deafness.

The “wet foot, dry foot” Cuban Adjustment Act for immigrants only applies to - you know - Cubans seeking US residency. Other undocumented Hispanics stay undocumented no matter how worthy.

Does he think this kind of xenophobic slander helps his son? Maybe among the base in TX, but where else? If he wants to be taken seriously on a national level (though it may already be too late for that) it’s best not to have your Dad running around like an insane old crank.

Like father, like son I guess.

33 Tigger2  Thu, Oct 31, 2013 7:43:28pm

Cruz if you don’t like America and our President then you should go back to Cuba.
