Right Wing Smear Merchant Chuck C. Johnson Posts Alleged Rape Victim’s Name on Twitter

Unstable
Wingnuts • Views: 51,065

As usual, Chuck C. Johnson is trying to make himself part of the Rolling Stone UVA story, digging up the name of a woman he says is “Jackie,” the source for Rolling Stone’s partially retracted report, and publishing it on Twitter.

I won’t post the tweet where he reveals the name, but here’s another one of his long string of tweets threatening her:

That’s not journalism — it’s extortion. It’s a clear violation of Twitter’s rules to post this kind of information, and reckless endangerment to boot. And we should point out that it has not been proven that “Jackie’s” story was false — and she’s standing by it at last report. Chuck is posting the name of a woman who may very well be a rape victim (if he even has the right person at all).

Wow. Is this the day things really turn on Chuck C. Johnson?

I was going to log out, but I think I’ll stay logged in and watch. It may just be the day Chucky goes down. Gotta get some popcorn…

Oh that says volumes about upChuck. Not a word about the many, many, many women who have been sexually assaulted and who will be afraid to come forward in the future because they might have this asshat or someone like him try to destroy their reputations.

*spit*

6 Targetpractice  Dec 7, 2014 11:04:50am

And you can be sure the braindead denizens of his “fan club” will be out there, hunting down every woman on the Internet with the name he’s posted and attacking them for being a “fake victim.”

Just how much damage does ones tweets have to do before Twitter puts the kibosh on them permanently?

7 Kryptik  Dec 7, 2014 11:04:54am

Note that the asshole prays for “victims of fake rape charges” but he is convinced that no one is really a victim of rape unless someone is convicted.

Fascinating double standard, asshole.

But, you know, sometimes prayers are just wishful thinking.

This is the story these assholes have been praying for their whole life. They can all double down on the “women make up rape to get attention line” and then proceed with their psychotic rants against feminism. To these jackasses rape, just like racism, is a thing of the past and doesn’t happen anymore.

They love to believe in a double standard: a “real victim” doesn’t call attention to themself, but the only way to get someone convicted of rape is to call attention to the victim through reporting it and then going to trial. Having sat through a rape trial as a juror, I can say that all the stereotypes, from “They’re just looking for attention” to “They’re mentally ill” to “They’re afraid of being punished for (insert supposed crime)” are all prominent tools in the defense attorney’s arsenal.

Things work in mysterious ways. He is going to get his. And it will not be pretty. You can’t do what he is doing and not pay for it. The longer and farther he goes the worse the payback.

I commented in the last thread…it is almost like “it is written.”

And like my comment up top, this does seem to be the day, the line he may have crossed that takes him down. He’s got all the attention going now.

Mine involves a MMA fighter who is best friends with the doxing victim, who also doesn’t take kindly to bullies. And lives in Fresno.

But honestly? Whatever comeuppance greets Chucky, I will applaud it. I don’t wish many humans real harm, but Chucky barely qualifies as a human in my book.

20 Charles Johnson  Dec 7, 2014 11:19:28am

The woman involved has told the Washington Post that she stands by her story, by the way. And Rolling Stone has revised their article to make it clear they’re not saying her story was false: rollingstone.com

Hey fellow geeks, is it worth it to use Windows 10?

I’ve been using it as my daily driver since the Technical Preview was released, dual-booting it with Win8.1 Pro; for a late alpha/early beta, it’s fairly polished.

Just keep in mind that, as they release new builds, some things may be changed around, added, or removed, but, for the most part, you may not even notice most of them. You may also have some compatibility issues with some software (among them, some antivirus/security packages), but the current build seems to have resolved some of them (on this latest build, I was able to install my Bitdefender antivirus, which I highly recommend, no matter which version of Windows you run); as further builds are put out, compatibility issues should be reduced.

It’s more true than you know; hell, IIRC, they didn’t even change their harassment reporting policy to allow people other than the “target” to report shit until after Zelda Williams was harassed by some fucking low-lifes and left social media altogether after Robin’s suicide.

Like many companies, they are utterly reactive, not proactive; they won’t do shit about a perceived problem until they get bashed in the media for it and their stock takes a hit.

The whole deal with Chuck and Twitter to this point gives me no confidence that Twitter will do anything about him on a permanent basis, at least until he brings the media down on them; however, given that this is Chuck we’re talking about, I foresee that happening eventually.

$.each(comReplacements, function(i, rep) {
	theText = theText.replace(rep[0], rep[1]);

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) - Rolling Stone magazine is apologizing for a scathing article detailing an alleged gangrape at the University of Virginia. The apology is directed to UVA student “Jackie”, the woman at the center of the article, and to the university community.

The magazine says it should have been more diligent in fact-checking many of the details in the article.

Last week Rolling Stone magazine said they realized their trust in “Jackie” was “misplaced.”

Now they say the discrepancies that have surfaced - some contradictory details from the night “Jackie” was allegedly gangraped - are the fault of Rolling Stone, and not “Jackie” herself.

Way to go Rolling Stone, epic level cluster fuck. Of course it’s too late now, they’ve given misogynist fucks like CCJ all the ammo they need to assert with absolute conviction that the woman is lying, even though she’s sticking by her story. So now that Rolling Stone has issued this mea culpa taking the blame off of her will Chuck retract his claims that she’s a liar? Of course not, he’ll double down.

After being an Ebay member since August of 1999, I’m finally selling something. (It’s some scuba gear that just doesn’t quite fit me, but is in great shape). It’s funny being on the other side of the table, with 15 people watching the item, and knowing that the jerks will bid at the last second to try and snipe it. (which is what I do every time).

Just over an hour to go…. and it’s up to what I consider an acceptable amount, so I really can’t bitch. (but I will)

NY Daily News: Chuck C. Johnson, reporter for GotNews reveals UVA rape victim’s name.

Seriously? He creates a website, claims to be a reporter, and now media outlets are treating him with any kind of respect? He doxxed a rape victim who still stands by her story of being raped. He’s an asshat who’s wrong more than the National Enquirer. He is willing to pay for lies and smears and when he isn’t paying for the lies and smears, he’s freely distributing them with nonsensical ravings on Twitter and online.

He’s going to wrap himself up in claims that he’s a reporter so he’s entitled to release whatever information he wants.

He’s an unethical hack who is all about self aggrandizement and thinks only of how the next story will make him a household name - at least in the FoxNews circles.

In the past I’ve had stuff go way, way over my reasonable expectations at the last minute. Now that everyone does it I don’t think sniping screws sellers at all. What surprises me is that there are still tons of idiots who don’t use sniping software and bid before the end.

The only tricks I’ve found are to set the auction time for the maximum length and so that it ends around 6pm Pacific time, to maximize the number of people who can be at home and watch it close. Along that vein it’s also best not to close on a Friday or Saturday night.

And will Twitter do anything? I doubt it. Until someone hits them in court for a huge settlement, they won’t care the peons using or being harmed by their service. All they care about is profit and investors.

Unfortunately, I think it’s going to take a death or serious injury and THEN a lawsuit before Twitter does anything.

I think ChuckC may well and truly have really stepped in it this time. Big media outlets have a strong interest in protecting sources. This is especially true of outlets, like Rolling Stone, that cultivate a reputation for controversy and challenging authority. They are likely to have resources he is not aware of or that he has ignorantly discounted.

Wouldn’t work at the physical location. It would have to be enough people staying off twitter for x amount of time to show them that their users care about this issue to stop using it if the complaints aren’t heard. Like #boycotttwitter12/15 or something.

I also recommend allowing bids from overseas, or at least Western Europe. A lot of sellers are total dicks and refuse shipping outside the US. If you open it up and have a foreigner who is willing to bid they’ll often fight for it, which helps you not matter who wins. I understand some sellers have been burned in the past, but it’s mostly their own fault. The number of auctions with shitty, out of focus pics is astounding. It doesn’t take much effort to describe your shit accurately, document it with decent images and communicate. Make it clear that you will accept returns but won’t cover return shipping, and insist on insurance if shipping overseas.

I once had a set of Chris King bicycle hubs that I shipped to Germany, one of my first sales. The buyer was kind of sketchy and somehow convinced me to ship it on the cheap, with no tracking. It took six fucking weeks to arrive, but finally got there. I got him to wait that long by treating him like I’d want to be treated. I’d had shit take that long getting to me from Europse and told him that I’d refund him if it didn’t arrive by then, that even though he’d insisted on the cheap shipping I’d take it as a learning experience. In the end he was happy, even though I’d have been in the right to not refund my decision not to act like a dick paid off.

Nice. I still have my old back mounted BCD from when I was into Scuba. I thought it was a good idea at the time because it would give me more arm freedom for photography. It worked great at depth but the unfortunate side effect was it forced my face into the water at the surface, which is tiring and semi-dangerous. You don’t always want to need to use the snorkel.

I haven’t been out in so long that I’d probably need to get re certified, definitely need a new tank.

After buying >150 watches on Ebay, I can add a few refinements - the best time, bar none, to close your auction is Sunday evening. That’s why I almost never buy watches on Sunday night. In my experience Friday and Saturday evenings are not good times either. Evenings are worse for buying than mornings, but late evenings are often pretty good.

I’ve gotten my best deals from sellers who can’t be bothered to take good pictures, or to know what they’re selling. Twice, sellers have listed solid gold watches with Buy-It-Now prices under $60. Because I knew what they were, I was able to scoop them up.

Wouldn’t work at the physical location. It would have to be enough people staying off twitter for x amount of time to show them that their users care about this issue to stop using it if the complaints aren’t heard. Like #boycotttwitter12/15 or something.

That won’t work because there are more spammers and bots than actual people.

You have so many great baking successes that it is inevitable you’d have a failure. Just brush it off and try again in a couple weeks. I know you’ll get it right the second time around.

I’ve pitched my share… I made a batch of my ‘no knead bread’, let it age for a couple of days, baked up a boule, and as soon as I tasted it, I realized I had left the salt out. There is nothing more bland than basic bread with no salt.

On the other hand, you are a whiz at pies, challa and all other kinds of baked treats. Were you using wild yeast for the starter, or just some regular active yeast? I’m sure you’ll get it nailed, the nice thing about messing up a loaf of bread, yea, you’re out some time and effort (generally more time than anything else), but your actual out-of-pocket isn’t going to hurt. Now if you mess up a rack of lamb…..

It was a wild starter that I have been cultivating since May. I have used it before with some success. I was following the recipe for “Pain au Levain” in Peter Rinehart’s Artisan Baking. Got no levain, just pain. :(

re: #194 Charles Johnson

My moment of weakness: Get Chuck’s address. Post the lat/long of some point along the coast farthest from it. Then post a point somewhere in between that point and Chuck’s, then a point closer. Do this a few more times. Stop before it gets there.

I was originally going to do half the distance then half again, then half again, but I realized that after about 3 or 4 iterations, someone could find his house even if you didn’t finish the route.

I’m only so cruel.

Barcelona almost had a Darwin Award Nominee today:

Man seriously injured after being mauled by three lions at Barcelona Zoo after he jumped into their enclosure

A man has been left with serious injuries after jumping into a lion enclosure at Barcelona zoo where he was picked mauled by three of the animals.

Dressed in military uniform, the man climbed over railings and began scaling one of the walls in the enclosure before being picked off by one of the animals and thrown into a pit.

The 45-year-old was rescued around 30 minutes later covered in scratches and bite marks. He was taken to the city’s Hospital de la Vall D’Hebron where he remains in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

But wait, it gets worse:

According to local reports, the man, named by El Pais as Justo Jose MP, is a neo-Nazi demonstrator.

He was arrested last month in the city centre after draping banners emblazoned with Swastikas over the famous Casa Mila building in an anti-abortion protest.

I guess the lions realized he was rancid and didn’t eat him.

“We don’t need it on our side?”

Really, it was the right wingers who think doxxing victims of police brutality was appropriate. It was right wingers who made up BS about Michael Brown.

They made up BS about Wilson’s injuries.

They dug up dirt on Eric Garner when a video clearly shows him being choked to death by a police officer.

They keep excusing behavior of police when the excessive force and officer involved shootings show a police mentality that need to reined in.

Riehl was quiet all throughout Chuck’s tweets and rants and smears. This is the bridge too far? Really?

His silence before was assent.

My fallback tv station is, I’m afraid CNN. It doesn’t offend me too much, and when it does I switch. It’s the easiest background noise for moi.

Right now though is their show CNN Heroes. An awards show for people who have made an incredible contribution.

Playing now, Sheryl Crow and wounded warriors from a music program at Walter Reed. Well, you missed it, it ended.

S.O.V.’s owner has a shiny new Nikon D7000 and this weird twin flash setup to put the flashes out to the side of the camera. Great setup but hard to master. Dialed him in on it.

That WaPo article you cite was written before Rolling Stone changed its statement on the matter. The magazine made clear the screw up was with them, not with the victim.

226 Jay in Oregon  Dec 7, 2014 7:12:16pm

I wonder what it will take for Twitter to actually do something about stalkers and harassers.

Does someone have to die? Does someone literally have to lose their life because a stalker tracks their victim (or is aided by a helpful doxxing) through Twitter in order for them to do something?

Better yet, if someone sues Twitter and discovery shows a mountain of evidence that (for example) Charles C. Johnson is an obsessive sociopath who stalks people online, brags about visiting their homes, and openly wishing for harm to come to people, and someone dies as a result, can Twitter be found liable?
