We have a new feature for registered LGF users today: you can now address private comments to specific people! You can address the private message to just one person, or a list of people, and only the people in your recipient list will be able to read it.
To address a private message, you just put the name of the recipient inside the square brackets right after the word “private,” like this (replace the curly braces with square brackets):
{private Charles}Here’s a private message to myself!{/private}
To address it to more than one person, add each username separated by the ‘|’ character, like this:
{private Charles|ObserverArt|calochortus|darthstar}Here’s a private message to myself and several others!{/private}
Note that you have to use the actual username, not the display name. You can see the actual username by looking at a user’s profile. Also, usernames are not case-sensitive, so you don’t need to match the username’s capitalization.
Private messages show up in a comment as a button; if you’re one of the recipients, the button will be light green; otherwise it’s light red, and clicking it will display a brief error message.
And of course, you can read your own private messages.
