When Ben Carson was asked today by reporters about his bizarre and ahistorical theory that the pyramids were built by the biblical character Joseph to “store grain,” he answered that there was nothing silly about his pyramid idea because he believes in the Bible.

Of course, the Bible doesn’t actually mention the pyramids at all, and it certainly doesn’t claim anywhere that a mythical “Joseph” built them to store grain. Carson came up with this crackpot theory all by himself; he’s like a caricature of an anti-science Republican politician.
