The fraudulent CA driver’s licenses used by David Daleiden and Susan Merritt

Planned Parenthood of California filed a federal lawsuit today against the anti-choice extremists of the Center for Medical Progress, accusing CMP of violating the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act and numerous other state and federal laws.

Anyone who’s been reading LGF throughout this nightmarish right wing episode of utter fakery knows how I feel about this: it’s about time. The actions of David Daleiden and Troy Newman and Operation Rescue are beyond despicable, and I sincerely hope the book is thrown at them. Not only have they broken a metric ton of laws, they’ve fueled a dishonest conservative pile-on that has seriously endangered the safety of many men and women who work to provide health care services despite the constant attacks they suffer. And it’s long past time to start fighting back hard against the corrupt ideological forces that drive this Dark Ages insanity.

Note that Planned Parenthood’s law firm for this suit is Arnold & Porter LLP, one of the top 100 law firms in the US. The Center for Medical Progress is represented by religious fanatics; “Life Legal” and the Thomas More Society. You may recall that the Thomas More Society was also the law firm that was totally defeated in the Kitzmiller v. Dover creationism trial.
