Sanders Says He Hasn’t Read Classified Pages of 9/11 Report Because He Doesn’t Want to Lie

Classified documents - how do they work?

I’ve set this video to start at the section I found surprisingly, weirdly naïve — as Senator Sanders says he hasn’t read the classified 28 pages of the 9/11 Report for the following reason:

The difficulty is, you see, then if you read them you’re gonna ask me a question, you’re gonna say “you read ‘em, what’s in ‘em?” And now I can tell you honestly I have not read them.

What I find weird: a president has to be able to keep classified material secret — obviously. It’s a fact of international politics that presidents can’t simply reveal secret information because they want to be honest; it’s such a basic part of the job that I find it very odd to hear someone running for president who apparently doesn’t get this.

That’s not the entire interview, of course, but it was one more of many WTF moments in this election season.
