Did Chuck C. Johnson’s “Wesearchr” Extortion/Bounty Site Help Inspire the PizzaGate Gunman?

Dangerous incitement for money
Crime • Views: 59,466

One of the disgusting imaginary details of the far right “PizzaGate” conspiracy theory is that the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington DC is connected to a network of secret tunnels, in which children are hidden and tortured. And now we have reports that the heavily armed gunman who entered the restaurant yesterday to “self-investigate” was searching for those tunnels.

Which leads us to the question in the title of this article, because one of the so-called “bounties” currently being offered at Wesearchr, the site run by disgraced far right white supremacist trolls Chuck C. Johnson and Pax Dickinson, is titled: PizzaGate Urban Explorers League Ultimate Challenge.

And they’re offering a substantial amount of money to anyone who can provide proof of those “tunnels.”

The description says they’re not encouraging anyone to do anything illegal, and then winks at it by making it clear they’ll pay the “bounty” even if you do.

First: please absolutely do not bother business owners or do anything even remotely illegal for this mission. This is not a prize to see who can harass some guy the most or who can get in the most trouble. This is a purely journalistic investigation.

The goal of this bounty is to establish the presence of tunnels underneath or very close to being underneath Comet Ping Pong Pizza and/or Besta Pizza in Washington DC.

Please make sure you check with local law enforcement and several lawyers before attempting any Urban Exploration on your own. I’m posting this because Urban Exploration can be a fun and exciting hobby, but I absolutely can’t condone any breaking of the law, so please make sure you don’t do that. However, the bounty will be paid in any case, even if you break the speed limit or illegally park your bicycle.

…or terrorize a restaurant full of people with a semi-automatic rifle.

Was the gunman inspired to do what he did by this offer of money? We don’t know, although it may come out at his trial. But one thing is very clear: Chuck C. Johnson and Pax Dickinson are trying to profit from exploiting a baseless conspiracy theory, and are putting innocent lives at risk.

UPDATE at 12/5/16 4:39:09 pm by Charles Johnson

The Washington Post’s latest article on the gunman mentions the bounty set up by Wesearchr, but doesn’t name the site.

The conspiracy theory, which began shortly before the election after emails were released by WikiLeaks, quickly gained believers on sites such as Reddit, which banned the community in late November, citing its policy against posting the personal information of others.

But another website offered more than $2,500 for proof of underground tunnels within 800 feet of Comet Ping Pong.

Yeah it wasn’t just the shot in the back.

I imagine the shot in the back could be defended on the basis of the cop’s commanding the man/suspect fleeing to stop. But assume there would need to be SOME probable cause.

The slope isn’t immediately apparent from the overhead shot. It’s only when you see the street-level shots, where the vehicles are actually gaining speed as they slide…

I once saw a car, headed down Buffalo Street from Eddy in Ithaca, sliding at about 5 mph with all 4 wheels locked. I was sitting in what was at that point in time a taqueria, so I didn’t see what happened after he’d slid past the window. I was afraid to look.

To be (just a teensy bit) fair, there’s a lot of oil and fluid build-up that happens during the 8 months without rain that contributes to a slicker road surface during the first 15-30 minutes of the first rain of the season.

That being said, CA drivers really have no fucking clue what they’re doing driving in normal weather, let alone rain. Or, heaven help us, snow. (Maybe going looking for snow on I-80 on a holiday weekend was not our best plan ever, but it was still a better plan than the semi-driver who decided to try and go around the I-80 closure on SR49, which was at R2 (chairs or snow tires on 4WD required) at that point. They were ready to give him one hell of a ticket, assuming he didn’t wipe out on the road. We were sliding some in our Outback with proper tires.)

I’m thinking that the Carrier scam last week wasn’t an end in itself.

Think of it. Relatively small amount of jobs (less than a thousand after all’s said and done), relatively small amount of money ($7 mill is chump change in government).

It was a test run. They wanted to see how easily they could give away taxpayer money to a crony and then sell it to the public.

Now I’m guessing they’re pretty confident that they’ll be able to give, say, $100 million to some other Trump crony and just say they saved, say, 50 thousand jobs from leaving the country. Or a billion dollars for saving, say, 100 thousand jobs.

As long as the public and complicit media can sell it as ‘saving American jobs,’ they won’t even have to codify huge tax cuts - they can just ‘save jobs’ via cash payouts to corporations of their choice, and only Trump’s buddies will be the ones getting the breaks. All those other corporations will still have to pay what they’re paying now, and Trump will be able to say that his administration ‘didn’t give huge tax cuts to corporations.’

Just spitballing over here.

The two reactions one sees when it first rains are 1) panic - driving 45 mph on the freeway as if your tires had suddenly turned into butter on a hot skillet, and 2) no reaction at all - just keep blasting along at 80+, a car length from the next guy’s rear bumper.

These two approaches do not play well together.

Okay. I see how this works now. If a Democratic Mayor doesn’t endorse your campaign for governor, you shut down a bridge for several days and punish everyone who depends on that bridge to get revenge on that Mayor. If a company donates to Democratic politicians, you lie about a pedophilia ring at said company’s premises and encourage crazies to engage in violence and hope that said company goes bankrupt.

Alrighty then.

The rank and file don’t even really care about power, the vast majority of them will never have any beyond the ability to flip a light switch. They are Team R and what they want is their team to win. They don’t really care about anything else. They are basically the worst of Yankee/Cowboy/Laker fans - the type of people who say “we” when talking about winning the World Series. Most of them don’t know a gotdam thing about specific policies and when confronted with facts and logic regarding existing policy dismiss it because, quite honestly, #nothingmatterslol. I’ve seen this so many times with my family that I don’t even bother trying to discuss politics with them, I just grin and nod and say “oh, yeah? The conspiracy theory, which began shortly before the election after emails were released by WikiLeaks, quickly gained believers on sites such as Reddit, which banned the community in late November, citing its policy against posting the personal information of others.

But another website offered more than $2,500 for proof of underground tunnels within 800 feet of Comet Ping Pong.

What kind of list do you need? IBM would be significantly late to market.

Registered Voter lists, including party affiliation and voter history.
Voter files from all states - 24-hour turnaround.
Voter lists with detailed demographics, including race, ethnicity, religion and income
Voter lists including National Change of Address - Gravis Marketing files have weeded out dead-end data.
Phone Numbers - land-lines and cell phone numbers are included in the voter lists.
Interest groups and social membership affiliation.

I mean, congratulations? We’ve established that there are places that have been sucking up this personal data for allowing targeting by advertisers? Where the fuck have you been for the past 10+ years? (Not you, Happy.)

Can we just be clear that this is different than a) the government directly maintaining that sort of list and b) tech companies contracting to build the infrastructure required for that sort of database, which is the discussion point that was being snarked on?

And also maybe c) if you have no fucking clue, sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut instead of opening it and looking like an idiot. Not that I expect that advice to be followed, but.

I had an eye exam this afternoon at an eye doctor that I don’t like anymore. They’ve started advertising cosmetic surgery services along with eye exams.

The doctor’s exam was basically over before I even got comfortable in the chair. I mentioned to the assistant who’d checked my prescription that the right eye was still seeing some double vision, and she told me that it would be corrected with a prism. When they gave me the prescription, there was no prism mentioned. When I mentioned this, they sent it back and added the same prism to both eyes.

I was going to cancel the appointment beforehand, but I thought I’d give them a chance. Now I want to go somewhere else for a re-exam before I buy new glasses.

The place Mrs. FBW and I went for a couple years lost our business when Mrs. FBW asked them to check whether the glasses matched her prescription, and they told her they just take some getting used to. A week of headaches later, she went back and INSISTED. “Oh, gosh! It looks like one of the lenses was prismatic! Sorry about that!”

Then there was the time I took a prescription to Pearle Vision in the mall, so I could get a spare pair. When they came in I told them I could not get both eyes focused at the same time, and that things were only clear when I turned my head to the right a bit and looked through the part of the lens closer to the nosepiece. So they bent the frames all to hell and sent me off with them. Two days later I went back and another guy, who hadn’t been there the first time, carefully checked both them and me out and discovered they’d put the wrong measurement for the right pupil in the prescription, so, yeah - the focus was closer to the nosepiece.

Grrrrrr…….

“He is a passionate, tenderhearted. Loves his family. Loves his children, he is always concerned about his parents and children.
“He is a loving person, a loving dad. He has friends, church, family and friends.
“Maddison is a sweet young man with a big heart,”

An eye doctor gave me a prism in one lens and it just made things worse (it felt like something was literally pulling my eye).

Turned out that the double vision in my right eye was due to some temporary fluid buildup at a point of old scar tissue on my retina (which I learned when I went to a different eye doctor).

This is why my wife, who is currently an American, will not register to vote.

If her ex-husband finds out where she lives he will likely kill her. He got out of prison a few years ago for 2nd degree homicide. It should have been 1st, and they had him dead to rights, but the county couldn’t afford a trial and let him plead down.

Where she currently lives voting records are publicly accessible. So she doesn’t register.

Mine were the cheap ‘stick-on’ variety, for messing with a changing situation. Which still has not resolved, but I quit the prisms a year ago. Three years is the most common answer I get now when I ask, ‘how long?’ It’s been two. Next year they’ll start saying ‘four’.

WTF is this all about?

SoCalGas(r) has developed a voluntary call to consumers called a SoCalGas Advisory.

Every winter the demand for natural gas increases as we heat our homes and businesses. This winter, we are facing limited availability of natural gas locally. That’s why we are asking all Southern Californians to work together to help conserve natural gas on certain days.

In summer we don’t have enough available electricity on hot days. Year round we don’t have enough water. Now we don’t have enough natural gas either?

WTH is going on here?

re: #136 austin_blue

It’s not the snow. Snow is easy. I lived in Marquette MI for three years (UP, south shore of Lake Superior- averages 145” of snow a season) and snow is a piece of cake.

Now, put 1/4” of ice on the street and cover it w/ an inch of snow? That’s just terrifying. No one can drive on that.

Which usually is the conditions in one of the first snows that hit central Ohio. Usually the temps is right around 28° and the first snow melts on still warm ground/street etc. But as the cold continues it does form a little layer of ice and the snow is still falling. Guaranteed mess on the streets.

Columbus usually suffers more from ice than snows due to us being right on some kind of magical line of 32° too many times.

I always test the road when I stat out by gassing the car a bit to see if it wants to side step. That lets me know the conditions right away. Maybe tap the brakes too without anyone around.

I’ve said before around here, I also use winter tires and summer tires. I love driving, and I like the dedicated tires for the seasons. Add front wheel drive and standard transmission (VW Rabbit 2.5, 5 speed w/anti-slip) and I am usually good to go. But always leery of everyone the first few snows.

Let me guess since you used “deplorable” in your comment.

So there’s this interesting story in New York magazine, How Republicans Justify Unlimited Trump Corruption

I sent it to a good friend who is a Republican (who did not vote for Trump, or for Hil). His response floored me:

Look, I know you are sore about the election. So pick a better candidate.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but it seems to me he’s saying that because of the Electoral College, the GOP has the right to be as corrupt as it wants.

It’s a copout. I hear it at work. When it all goes to shit, it’ll be Democrats fault that Trump won.

re: #197 ObserverArt

I am soooooooooooooooo surprised! Aren’t you?

Republicans simply can not tell the truth. What a statement about America.

This is the same Armstrong Williams that owns several TV stations around the country in an alliance with Sinclair Broadcast Group.

From Armstrong’s Wikipedia article:

Howard Stirk Holdings

In early 2013 Williams began expanding his outreach by entering into media ownership with the purchase of two television stations, from a larger part of a $370 million acquisition of Barrington Broadcasting by Sinclair Broadcast Group. Howard Stirk Holdings LLC, which Williams owns, was given ownership over NBC affiliate WEYI-TV in Flint-Saginaw-Bay City, Michigan and CW affiliate WWMB in Myrtle Beach-Florence, South Carolina. Both stations remain operated by Sinclair under a local marketing agreement.[11]

On December 4, 2014, the FCC approved the transfer of station licenses for WMMP, Charleston, South Carolina, WCFT-TV, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and WJSU-TV, Anniston, Alabama from Sinclair Broadcasting to Howard Stirk Holdings, foregoing any operational agreements.[12][13] Howard Stirk Holdings operate these stations independently. Criticism of Howard Stirk existing as a shell company of Sinclair are alleged.[14]

On January 28, 2015, Intermountain West Communications Company filed to sell KVMY to Howard Stirk Holdings. HSH had agreed on January 14 to purchase for $150,000 the stock of the Sinclair subsidiary that was a party to IWCC’s sale of KSNV-DT and currently holds the license of KVCW; KVCW and KSNV themselves remain under Sinclair ownership.[15] The transaction was finalized on October 30.[16] Howard Stirk Holdings revealed in its January 2015 application to purchase Las Vegas station KVMY that it again planned to acquire the WLYH-TV license from Nexstar Broadcasting. The sale was completed on November 12, 2015.[17]

So a guy who owns several TV stations in concert with the largest TV broadcast chain in the United States is engaging in spreading lies about a potential cabinet pick while acting as that pick’s spokesman.

I sort of disagree. The EC not voting Trump in would be unprecedented. It would show what a total mess it was having Trump involved and people looking out for America’s true interest had to save our butts on a technicality.

Sure it might put Pence in, but he would still be a Trump person and have to stand up to the fact he only got in because everyone screwed up and the Republicans allowed it.

In other words, the Republicans would have to own the EC doing something that has never been done. Trump mess would cover all the people involved for getting him int office. All the voters, the media, all the Republican pols would all be part of doing something seen as a real screw-up that it came to the EC voiding it.

If enough of the faithless electors vote for someone other than Clinton or Trump (and they are threatening to do so) resulting in neither Clinton nor Trump getting the required number of EVs, then the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. If there is anyone controlling the purse strings for the GOP that’s privately scared to death of the consequences of Trump (especially with this past weekend’s foreign policy disasters alone) they are welcome to show up and influence the electors.

I’m not holding my breath on that, but it would be nice to see.

When you willingly put yourself out there as an attention slore you better expect the negative side to social media. She takes very provocative, sexy photos which runs counterintuitive to if she wants to be taken a serious professional golfer, however she has no LPGA tour status and has not even made a cut on any Symetra tour events. I don’t even think she applied to Q school.

Somehow I doubt this coward would be saying that if she was his daughter or other female loved one. We got a whole bunch of people who think bullying is okay because they really think people are too soft these days.

Honestly, I’m okay with enough faithless electors defecting so he only wins by 275-280 EVs. Throw some chaos into the system and show that it’s not a sure thing.

That being said, I want every single elector who casts a vote for Trump to own his/her vote for life (ie, the Scarlett T tattoos on their foreheads).

They are going to try to pull an Andrew Jackson and try to get it built in defiance of the Army Corps of Engineers rejection. Nevermind that the protest camp is still there, as are the veterans.

It’s hardly a surprise and honestly was a totally predictable reaction. As Yogi Berra mused, “it ain’t over until it’s over.”
