We’re very dry here. While a couple of days ago there was a lame attempt at some drizzle, we’ve not had the often-occurring November rain shower.

The loquats are not happy.

Winter is not here. We were 70° today, and it is to be well above normal for the foreseeable future. We are also very, very dry. All of the crops are out and fall tillage done. Farmers with money can leave for the winter.

We are “making hay” by doing as much outdoor work as we can! But it is not normal, and I see desertification looming on our horizon. There was a feature on NPR today about farmers in the Great Plains cutting down all of the dust bowl era windbreaks so they can squeeze out more acres. If they do that, we will probably be just a dust station on the way to the east coast.

So what’s with the Moron-In-Chief’s obsessive gibbering about “immigration”?? He tossed it into this morning’s shit-vent about Schumer and Pelosi and their WH non-meeting: now he’s blathering about it again as an irrelevant aside in a tweet about North Korea’s latest missile test.

Brown, Black, Red, Yellow.

He caters to White only.

Remember how wingnuts and their media claimed Obama set back race relations? Yeah, that.

Let me help, I speak Billionaire Asshole Jive.

He is referring back to the Dem insistence that DACA resolution be part of the pending funding talks. It’s one of his reasons for shutting them out.

Boy, did Charlie Pierce ever call out DT for the code talker shenanigans yesterday. And he pins it right to the CFPB business of today. Good on him.

*cough*Brown people*cough*

Yeah, I’m sure: though what that has to do with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi boycotting Trump’s stupid photo-op BS over the hideous GOP tax bill still escapes me….

I’m guessing it’s probably more like he knows he’s running out of credibility at a rapid pace*, and wants to start hammering on what is probably the last “popular” issue he has - bashing on “illegals” and “criminals” because it sounds “tough”.

* Though I’m sure Trump doesn’t/won’t/can’t ever see it that way: our National Buffoon’s capacity for public self-delusion seems boundless: Trump makes Mohammed al-Sahaf (“Baghdad Bob”) look like a hard-headed realist…

OK, that makes some sense (as much as anything Trump-related can).
Hopefully another defeat in the making.

Juno Spots a Complex Storm on Jupiter
Image Credit: NASA, JPL-Caltech, SwRI, MSSS; Processing: Gerald Eichstädt & Seán Doran
Explanation: Some storms on Jupiter are quite complex. The swirling storm was captured late last month by the NASA’s robotic Juno spacecraft currently orbiting the Solar System’s largest planet. The featured image spans about 30,000 kilometers, making this storm system just about as wide as planet Earth. The disturbance rotates counter-clockwise and shows a cloud pattern that includes light-colored updrafts thought to be composed predominantly of ammonia ice. These light clouds are the highest up and even cast discernable shadows toward the right. Juno will continue to orbit and probe Jupiter over the next few years as it tries to return data that help us to better understand Jupiter’s atmospheric water abundance and if the planet has a solid surface underneath these fascinating clouds.

Van Gogh’s Starry Night!

And if you look at the day before, for November 27, there is a 2 minute animation of smoke, dust and smoke that illustrates the hurricane season we just had. Blew my mind! I had no idea how much dust came off the Sahara, or how much the smoke from Washington and BC forest fires, and how they ended up swirling up and around and across. Worth the 2 minutes!
