I think I said back when the announcement was originally made of the report being handed in that it was going to be a “looks bad” kinda report, where nobody gets indicted but everybody gets ran through the wringer for violating policy/regs. The fact that it’s been weeks since and we’ve received few updates and a lot of excuses for why the report has yet to be released, while none of those who supposedly were facing criminal charges have been indicted yet, really indicates that Barr has come up empty and is trying desperately to put a “positive” spin on the findings.

“That prick-tease needs to put out.” says Kim.

And the new reality is that Trump basically has no leverage left. He’s pissed off pretty much all of our regional partners, so there’s no hope that they will join him in new/stronger sanctions. If he agrees to loosen and drop existing sanctions, Kim will just say it’s “not enough” and demand more for another glorified photo-op. And the UN is liable to laugh in his face if he tries to beat the war drums again.

The reality to treating all foreign policy as transactional is not everybody is willing to buy, those who are may not be willing to pay the prices you demand, and that will end up leaving you willing to take a lot less from those who are still around.

Trump is also used to exercising the option of just declaring bankruptcy, walking away and settling for pennies on the dollar. That is not the way that international diplomacy is done.

I’m not sure that that is a rightwing opinion. The reference to Darwin makes me wonder. In any case, thankfully the family has raised more than the $20,000 they were seeking. This is why we need to improve the ACA so families don’t have to beg to pay for medical treatment. We can do better than this.

She’s American. I doubt Ted Lieu who is around the same age thinks the internment was a good thing. Malkin was associated with VDARE I think as early as 2008ish. She’s also just a trashy person. I remember she harassed a child who testified in favor of SCHIP on the Hill.

I am thinking libertarians (remember the Ron Paul supporters- let him die) is a possibility. IT’s agh so ugly. And yes absolutely that’s why we need to strengthen the legislation. I’m heartened to see that people care enough but it shouldn’t be this way.

This. X1000.
I think Barr’s original task had been to cobble up an Official Report that would hit all the rIght RW fever-swamp conspiracy-theory buttons, and be released to great fanfare. Which would (they hoped) at the very least, provide some red meat for the “Lock Her Up” crowd, and muddy the waters enough re the impeachment inquiry to deflect guilt/attention away from the WH.
However, I think their plan got overtaken by events when the Ukraine shit hit the fan, and are now stuck with a “report” that they can’t bury, and which, if released, will likely make them, rather than their pet-boogeymen targets, “look bad”.

Interesting article. What say you?

About a third (36%) want Medicare for All while another third (34%) want to create a public option for buy in and 20% would prefer to restore lost provisions from the Affordable Care Act and work incrementally from there.

The problem with the Public Option is numbers. You have to get enough people to buy into it or you can’t fund it. Perhaps as a stepping stone?

MFA would be able to be funded.

I don’t mind increments but good luck with that. I don’t even know what increments might be.

I admit that health care isn’t an issue I’ve studied a lot of but I think you need to look at all possible options. The thing is and I think why Pelosi has urged caution on the issue is the backlashes to Presidents like Clinton and Obama who have focused on it in their first term. I think it needs to be communicated effectively. Does that make sense? I really don’t want to have to have the conversation again that we had in 2010. We did end up preserving ACA thankfully. I just don’t know how we realistically can go from ACA to Medicare for All in a decade’s time. I’d support the public option though. M4A is a goal I support but I want to communicate it better before we make it the centerpiece of health care reform.

I think it would be fascinating to ask people what each option is, what it contains and how it will affect their lives and their decisions.

I would venture to guess that many people can’t answer the first two parts and the last would be based on faulty knowledge and logic.
